Went to Sprezzatura on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their space is pretty big and can easily accommodate bigger groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appies we got their rosemary and thyme focaccia which was pretty good and came with balsamic vinegar which definitely paired really well with the bread. For mains, I got their prosciutto and arugula pizza which was recommended by the staff. Honestly, I thought it was ok. I thought the base sauce lacked flavour and the prosciutto could've been seasoned a bit. The other pizza I tried was their truffle mushroom pizza, I LOVED IT! This is a rare case of me wanting to try a restaurant because of the atmosphere more than the actual menu. I would always walk by here and think it looked so relaxed but classy. So I decided to treat myself and give it a try. I sat outside on the patio, very nice atmosphere. I almost wish I'd stayed inside just to get a better look at the inside of the restaurant, which I thought was pretty in the short look I got. The service was excellent. My waiter was super friendly and the food came out quickly enough. The drink menu has some cocktails/mocktails featuring Italian drinks that are less common here as mixers, which is cool, and I will want to try a mixed drink if I visit again. But at the time I was feeling beer, where the selection is more basic. They have 3 mainstay beers on tap, and 3 rotators, but the rotators looked very similar to the mainstays (same type of beer, different brewery). I got the rotating lager, the aptly-named Laser Lite Lager by Rewind Brewing, very clear and light for easy, pleasant drinking. The food menu is all very classic dishes. I got the pasta pomodoro, which could not be more basic in composition, but I was actually really impressed by it. The simplicity made the quality very obvious. The sauce had a super bright, fresh flavour and the pasta was very al dente. I got the amaro brownie for dessert. The brownie itself was a good fudgy brownie but nothing remarkable, but the sauce and nutty whipped mascarpone were REALLY good. I think the food is a little overpriced - it was good, but relatively simple and portions aren't huge (the brownie was big enough to share, but at $15, that was an expectation). However, the prices are similar to prices at other semi-high-end Italian restaurants. That aside, I had a great experience so I'd happily recommend this restaurant. read more

I love saying the name of this restaurant, it's so fun! I booked my family in for dinner here as my partner and I have been wanting to try it for awhile now - great patio space and the inside of the restaurant is really pretty! That also have a private long table room for parties. We luckily were there for "wine Wednesday" so they have half litres and litres on for 50% off! Such a great bargain! We ordered two pizzas and two pastas. The pizzas were $5 off since we ordered during happy hour 3pm-6pm every weekday! Another great bonus! The mushroom pizza was delicious and my fave of the two between it and the potato pizza! I am a fan of potato pizza, it may sound odd to some but it's really good! I hate when this happens. The poor service really took away from what could have been a very nice meal. Excruciatingly long waits for service. A drink took 15 minutes, several items were forgotten, appys came out after the main course, and between each visit from our server was probably 20-25 minutes. Worst of all, the place was quite empty so these long delays were confusing and our server didn't understand our frustration (played the blame game). That made it hard to truly enjoy the food. The pizza - old school, floppy, decently bold flavours. A pizza is enough for one person to be quite full. The space itself is trendy and spacious. In the bottoms of a big building. Concrete slabs with high ceilings. I appreciate the restaurant comping a drink in compensation but just was a drag of a time overall. We came here to celebrate two occasions in the past few months and both times were a fan of their pizzas. We LOVE the truffle mushroom-- we haven't yet worked through all the variety but this is one we get time and time again. The pear and baby gem salad we had more recently was mediocre -- the gems didn't taste very fresh (lacking in crunch). We've had a better salad here before. What happened to this place? We visited over the spring and loved everything about this spot. For my sons birthday, we decided to try this new artisan pizza place. Let me just say, it truly is one o the best pizza places around. We started with bruschetta and toasted crostini. The salsa tasted freshly made and just came off the chopping board. Seasoned perfectly. Simple yet delicious. Then we had the roast macNcheese, pork belly entree, pork belly pizza, arugula and prosciutto pizza, and the mushroom pizza. The macN cheese was a bit of a let down...too dry and not moist at all. Under seasoned and the cheese wasnt ooey and gooey, as it should be. This was the least liked dish of the night. The pork belly entree was excellent. Meat was So juicy and tender. The skin was crisp and crackling. Nice execution. The accompanying salad was also amazing. Arugula with garlic and artichokes, and a drizzle Of olive oil. So rustic but tantalizing to the taste buds. All the pizzas were equally amazing. The crust thin and almost crispy...the edges had the right amount of burnt smokiness. Quality ingredients and toppings galore. The pork belly pizza had shaved thin roasted pork belly on them. Nice texture profile of saltiness and tartness from the cheese and white sauce base. But the star of the night was the mushroom pizza. With a combination of several kinds of mushroom and drizzled with aromatic truffle oil...wow! The aroma alone will make you drool. Very very earthy and exquisite at the same time. Service was amazing. Fast and efficient and accurate. We ordered a lemon mousse dessert which turned out to be so good. ( forgot to take a pic). Menu: good variety. Reminiscent of Roman restaurants Food: amazing paparadelle, rich and flavourful but not too overpowering. The carbonara was beautifully cooked out of the kitchen - creamy and smooth. We let it sit and cool for too long though and it started to get a bit lumpy once it was lukewarm, but that's all carbonara. Truffle mushroom pizza was amazing. Delicious pizza ! This is my second time visiting Sprezzatura! I brought my friends this time. I had the Mushroom pizza again and it still has a pizza mah heart! The fragrant truffle oil makes me want to eat the whole thing. They were generous with the toppings The feature pizza, Pepperoni and Spiced Honey was also pretty good. The Beer Braised Free range beef was very flavorful with beefy flavor and it was very tender. We did not get to try the dessert so hoping to try that next time. The only complaints was that on a hot day, we couldn't feel the AC. I really enjoyed my experience here. Our waiter was genuine, funny and competent We ordered the mushroom pizza as well as the pear walnut salad to start. This salad was so good. I made sure we did not leave anything behind. At first I wasn't sure because of the radishes but they are not strong at all. The pizza was also good, but very thin for those that are wondering. We had a fantastic dinner here a couple weeks ago. We sat on the sunny patio to enjoy the recent hot weather in Vancouver. For drinks, we started off with the daiquiri which was refreshing but slightly misleading to be calling it a daiquiri. We were expecting a slushy type drink to cool down with but this was more of just a standard cocktail. Still very delicious but just wasn't what we were expecting. We followed up with a litre of the house white wine which was also very refreshing! For food, we started out with the burrata and prosciutto appetizer. Good quality and packed with tons of flavour. We followed up with the pork belly entrée which included a fair portion of pork belly on a bed of salad. It was topped with a vinaigrette that added the perfect freshness to balance out the entire dish. While on a trip to Vancouver, I was seriously craving some good pizza. The reviews and photos for this place were great, and it was a 10 minute walk from where my event was, so kismet, I headed over. It's a really nice space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is a modern European style cafe vibe. I went around 6ish and it was pretty empty so not too noisy or crowded, which I appreciated. However, even with this, the service was a tad slow. It took over 30 minutes for my pizza to be ready and it wasn't hot. I ordered the mushroom pizza and asked for the chili honey (saw that on another pizza and felt like it'd be perfect for mine). The pizza is very thin crust and is sliced into about eight slices. I specify because I actually ate the whole thing comfortably haha. I *could* have shared it if there was another person with me, but I recommend 2+ pizzas for larger parties because they're pretty light--unless you're going for appetizers and dessert. I was very happy with my order from here. I ordered through Uber Eats during these covid times. It was quickly delivered and well-packaged. I had the mushroom pizza and the meatballs. The oizza crust was perfect for my liking, thin, slightly salted and and soft texture. The mushrooms and cheese were delicious. The meatballs were good as well but could have a bit more spice or sharp flavor to them. Cooked well. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. However, I found the pizza and meatballs a bit highly priced. I look forward to trying more pizzas and dining in the restaurant once social distancing rules pull back. this was an early bday and christmas dinner combined with my girls e, s and p. they brought their significant others and...i was alone but more on that later lol. e was the (early) bday girl - s and her were both there when p and i arrived. the restaurant is very hipster - industrial style setting with high ceilings and retro lights. the chairs were also the basics metal ones. the table setting was simple but...enough - there was no tablecloth for the wood table but you get your utensils and napkin and glasses for water and wine. the lighting is rather dim but i think that makes it more intimate. our server was very good with suggestions and he was busy thruout the night but whenever we needed him, he was there when we flagged him down. he was funny as well...which you will find out why later. to start off the night, the 5 of us that drank shared a bottle of Lupi Reali Montepulciano d'Abbruzo (yes i copied that from the site because come one who is going to rmb that name) based on the suggestion of our server - it def went well with everything we ordered so yay! for the 7 of us, we ordered 2 appies, 2 pizzas and 2 mains. then we had 2 desserts - one for the bday girl ofc! for appies, we had the roasted mussels and the antipasti. the mussels were very rich - they were plump and tasty. we had the antipasti at the end as sort of a munchie and basically picked the 2 meats and cheeses (each) that we didn't know what the names met. worth it lol and at that point i was slightly tipsy so i was not making the decisions - i merely agreed. i loved how the homemade pickles were a mixture of cauliflower, peppers and other veggies! we ordered the prosciutto&arugula and spicy meatballs pizza. the crust is on the soft side - you can eat with your hands but it can get messy what with the sauce and the toppings. the prosciutto pizza was very good - the arugula did make the whole sharing thing a little messy. i love the sauce that they used for the pizza. the spicy meatballs were....spicy meatballs lol. noms in every bite. for the mains, we had the roasted chicken and the mushroom lasagna. the roasted chicken - SO JUICY AND MOIST. very flavourful and the potatoes were crispy and delish. the mush room lasagna was rich and i srsly could have ate the whole thing myself. tbqh we were all stuffed by this point but ofc, being e's bday celebration - we had to get dessert. this is also the point where julia was forced to have 2nd drink so she ordered a spritz, which was great. e and s ordered tiramisu. e's came with a candle obvsly and we sang the bday song because we're old school like that. this is where the fun part happens - so our server comes by and asks how we're doing (we're like 2.5hrs in by this pt). h, e's husband, was like oh just the bills. then our server goes - by couples, singles or couples and the odd one out. clearly i'm the odd one out so i called it then my frd s is like that's just the alcohol talking and she obvsly needs another drink. server asks if i've had fernet before and RIGHT after i said no - he turns ard and pours him and i a shot. Went here for Happy Hour on a random evening, and was surprised at how few people were here. A nice-looking restaurant in an up-and-coming place like Mount Pleasant? And it turns out the food is very nice too! I quite liked the meatballs - they were nicely seasoned, and came in a great tomato sauce. Maybe not the best I've had, but nice! The pizzas were the star, though. The two personal pizzas arrived on a little stacked tray, which was really cute. The mushroom pizza was by far my favourite - creamy and savoury and full of flavour! I also tried the "vegetarian" pizza (there were multiple vegetarian options, but this one was literally named that way), but I found it was a little bland, without much salt or seasoning. I do prefer a more solid crust, but the soft Neapolitan crust meant you can basically roll the slices up into a sort of pizza roll to eat them, which was fun. The staff were lovely, and the happy hour prices are quite good! Worth checking out if you're into the cuisine. It might not be my favourite place, but they have pork belly on the menu I didn't try, so I definitely want to go back and give that a shot. read more

I wanted to like this restaurant more than I did. Here's what I thought: Pros: -Interior - high ceilings, great colours, light fixtures, etc etc -Food is pretty good - we had mussels to start and shared a few different pizzas, all were decent Cons: -Service - a little slow and kind of unfriendly. While I was sitting at the table waiting for my friends to arrive the server came by to give me water but didn't say hello or ask if I wanted anything else. (I honestly didn't know he was our server - thought he was only doing waters!) -Beers - comically small! The pint is more of a small sleeve, and the half-glass (or whatever it was called on the menu) was I think less than a half-pint. So so small! The prices certainly did not match the size of the drinks. Although the food was good, I don't think I'd recommend this restaurant since the overall experience was a little lacking. Ambiance: 5/5 Looks great. Big windows, nice lighting, cute decorations, high ceilings, classy-casual vibe. Big, bright space. Food: 3.5/5 Some dishes are definitely tastier than others. I got the roasted chicken and other members of my table ordered the mac and cheese, and a pork belly pizza. DO order the roasted chicken and pork belly pizza, DONT order the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was bland. Macaroni was cooked well, but the cheese was lacking -- Not gooey or flavorful enough. The chicken was good... seasoned well... but the dish came with no greens. Just a chicken and a few potato wedges on the side... and I expect a bit more when paying $25. Even it's just some carrots or asparagus. I'd still recommend it because both the chicken and the potatoes wedges were tasty; they were seasoned with delicious herbs and the chicken was very juicy. As for the pizza... well, it's pizza. Hard to go wrong with pizza. This particular pizza was full of flavour and had some nice gooey cheese. Service: 3/5 Our server was nice but not attentive. Has his back to us for most of the night (granted, we were in the corner table at the back). The man at the table across from us actually got up and walked over to the server to get his attention. We promptly got our drinks served to us, but we waited at least 30 minutes before he came by to get our food order (we were seated at 7:20, our food didn't arrive until after 8:15). And I actually had to leave my bill with someone else because I had somewhere to be at 8:45. read more

The pizza here is pretty terrible and it makes me sad. I live in the apartment in the same building (The Duke), so I decided to try it out on a Saturday evening. Pizza was a bland, soggy mess with zero flavor and minimal toppings. For a pizzeria, the pizza is terrible. See photo attached. It was sad, guys, sorry. In a neighborhood with such amazing restaurants and artisan food spots, this place was pretty bad. We also had the wagyu beef. It was better than the pizza. The meat was tender, but it was really salty and swimming in liquid. There was so much gravy that it felt like I was eating a stew rather than a steak. The one highlight of the meal was the dessert. The tiramisu rocked balls. Tl:dr version is that this restaurant is beautiful (so take a look in the window when you walk by), but keep walking and take a hard pass on the food. read more
