We had somewhere to go to on a Friday night and I was searching Google Maps for a place that would be fairly close to where we needed to go, had a decent menu and would hopefully be fairly quiet. This led us to Johnny's on Oak. They serve mainly Greek food at this restaurant although there are some non Greek items as well such as burgers, pizzas, fish & chips, and tacos. This place was only about 5 minutes drive from where we needed to go to after dinner, so the location was great. Food was decent. I ordered the Spanakopita dinner and my mom had the tacos. I was impressed with how flaky the pastry on my Spanakopita was. One of the things I usually love about Greek food is the lemon roasted potatoes that are typically served with main courses. The potatoes that came with my Spanakopita dinner could have been more lemony. I didn't taste any lemon in it. Greek salad was good. Pita bread wasn't bad. It was pretty good but I've had better. Rice was OK. I'm never super impressed with rice at Greek restaurants. Google told me that this place was considered to be a cozy, neighborhood spot that's generally quiet but that the noise level can fluctuate depending on when a person goes. I took a chance on this, hoping that we'd get there at one of those generally quiet times; however, luck was not on our side. It was quite noisy while we were there. Thankfully our food came pretty quickly, so we were able to pay our bill and get out of there pretty quickly once we had finished eating. I am super shocked about these reviews. And maybe it differs from takeout to dining in but this pizza did not live up to the glowing reviews. $30 for a medium mushroom onion feta pizza is wild. But for the "best" I paid. The pizza was flavourless and dry. Part of these old style pizza is the sauce and cheese which this was lacking. Which might add to the costs of this pizza but it was not there. Crust is great but that's it. I'm assuming this is a one off! I also checked out their menu and their prices are high. I'm ok paying higher if the food is too notch. $35 for tortellini Alfredo is insane but I hope it's amazing! For me, this pizza was disappointing! read more

Johnny's is our go to place for the old style pizza. We always order the Johnny's special pizza which has lots of different toppings such as ham, pepperoni, shrimp, mushrooms and more as it is my husband favourite pizza in town. But this time, we have overseas relatives visiting so we ordered other Greek dishes in addition to the Johnny's special pizza to let them try for their first time. To all our delight, all other Greek dishes were flavourful and good portion. The roast lamb was very tender, the chicken souvlaki was tender and the Greek ribs were nicely seasoned. The moussaka had good layer of eggplant and ground beef. All mains came with rice, lemon potatoes and a big portion of Greek salad. There were leftover rice and salad even with our group of 8 so we packed them up for our next day lunch. It was nice to finally try their dishes other than pizza. With all those dishes and 3 pints of beer, total after tax and tips came to only $32pp. What great value. Service is good too. Decent run of the mill Greek place on Oak. Parking is plentiful on the side streets. The place is modern but a bit plain. Lots of wooden trim. Staff were friendly. Food here is average but quite expensive. Guess this is the W side after all. Portions were definitely on the small side. Really wish the souvlaki sticks were bigger. Pizza was nice and thick, and at least they didn't skimp on the toppings. Decent place to check out, but a bit lacking in value. read more

The pizza here was amazing. This place is pretty inexpensive if you are eating family style. I came with a group of 6 and a calamari, salad and 2 large pizzas fed us for around $150. That's for 6 of us! The service was fast and friendly and this place had a very nice ambiance. I would recommend it if you came with a large group. read more

Pizza near GF Strong was the mission. The ratings are great for this restaurant so why not. Boston pizza is not really our thing. We ordered the meat lovers and the vegetarian for my partner. The pizza wasn't ready so we hung out in the restaurant for a bit. We saw the cook struggling a bit, tried taking the pie out but took it off the pan and put it back in!? We finally were on our way and got to the hospital to chow down.The pizza flavour was spot on but the meat lovers was missing some of the bottom crust. What!?...we were wondering why they gave us two free cans of Soda...lol, I guess we figured it out. Cute place though. read more

We visited Johnny's on Oak for a quick dinner before going to the airport. We were warmly greeted by our server Connie who showed us to a great table near the window. The restaurant has a great neighborhood eatery atmosphere with a little more class than most local places. Since we did not have a lot of time and the teenagers wanted Pizza, that's what we ordered as our main dish. We also ordered the calamari as our appetizer and it was fantastic. Very fresh with a perfect fry. We were also served warm bread that was fantastic. We were blown away by the pizza! A great sauce, flavorful cheese that's their own blend, and the crust, wow that crust! All this with great service from Connie. I'd definitely go back again! read more

We came here for a family dinner midweek. Service time was reasonable, and they kept our pitcher of water filled. The calamari was so fresh and tender, yet crispy! Not greasy at all. The roast lamb was tender and tasty. Not oily like all the other places we've tried. This means the whole dish was slightly less moist, but everything else on this plate balanced the taste and textures of this entrée perfectly. The chicken fettuccine, canneloni, and lamb gyro were satisfying and good. The miso Sable fish was tender and mild tasting. The fish portion was a tad on the small side. The ham and pineapple pizza tasted best when it was served hot. Overall, the dishes were not greasy or overly seasoned, and tending toward a more natural flavour. The calamari and roast lamb definitely warrants a return visit, but with the other options available, there is something satisfying for everyone. read more

So for pick-up we ordered a large thin crust pizza with ground meat, Italian sausage, ham, pineapple and mushrooms. Essentially it was mostly packaged ham with a disappointing very little amount of ground beef and sausage. The thin crust made it tasty otherwise ahh nahh. Two free pops yay. I'm a picky pizza eater and in my opinion my pizza was a 3 so-so. read more

We stopped at this place for some take out & it was delicious. We got the MOJ pizza and it did not disappoint. The crust was so crunchy and it was served piping hot! I wish i was able to take a photo but my husband and I scarfed it down like savages and finished the whole box before we even got to the border. Every time we have ordered delivery from Johnny's On Oak in the last few years (especially) since the new ownership and Covid, we have received food that was above and beyond expectation. Today was no exception, except that it was even better! Go figure! This was the BEST pizza that delivers within our area! The hamburger was great and side salad excellent. I never write reviews but I gots to here. I call for a pie and they say it's busy and will take an hour. I say ok and hang up. Then a minute later I'm like I can't wait that long so I call back and they're like 35-40 if we hurry is that ok? I'm like LET'S DO IT. The pie arrives with two sodas I didn't even ask for and then to top it off the pizza was ASTOUNDING. Lots of flavour, nice crispy crust.
