Johnny's is our go to place for the old style pizza. We always order the Johnny's special pizza which has lots of different toppings such as ham, pepperoni, shrimp, mushrooms and more as it is my husband favourite pizza in town. But this time, we have overseas relatives visiting so we ordered other Greek dishes in addition to the Johnny's special pizza to let them try for their first time. To all our delight, all other Greek dishes were flavourful and good portion. The roast lamb was very tender, the chicken souvlaki was tender and the Greek ribs were nicely seasoned. The moussaka had good layer of eggplant and ground beef. All mains came with rice, lemon potatoes and a big portion of Greek salad. There were leftover rice and salad even with our group of 8 so we packed them up for our next day lunch. It was nice to finally try their dishes other than pizza. With all those dishes and 3 pints of beer, total after tax and tips came to only $32pp. What great value. Service is good too. Next time we come, we'll have to order dishes other than our usual pizza.

Decent run of the mill Greek place on Oak. Parking is plentiful on the side streets. The place is modern but a bit plain. Lots of wooden trim. Staff were friendly. Food here is average but quite expensive. Guess this is the W side after all. Portions were definitely on the small side. Really wish the souvlaki sticks were bigger. Pizza was nice and thick, and at least they didn't skimp on the toppings. Decent place to check out, but a bit lacking in value.

Awesome pizza , Great services form the staffs . For a larger group, recipe reservations

We had already dug into the pizza when I remembered to snap a picture! Perfect size for 4 people. 2 slices each was very filling.

Beautiful restaurant, friendly and welcoming staff. The calamari was a delicious starter. Our family of 4 shared a cheese pizza. Again delicious! I loved the crispy crunch of the browned cheese. The blend of flavors was perfect!

The food is amazing and gyro is the best item on the menu! Staffs are attentive and easy to talk to. Perfect staff to table ratio. Place is great for family and friends gathering.

*Review for takeout during COVID Was having a pizza craving and decided to check out this place in the neighborhood. I got a veggie pizza and it wasn't bad, but also wasn't anything special. It certainly isn't worth spending $30 on a pizza though...

Went at 4pm and they were not busy at all. We opted to sit outside to enjoy the remaining good weather before the winter rains. We ordered a happy hour beer (lager) for $6 and the cheese bread for an appetizer. We ordered what the waitress recommended, half meat lovers and half Montreal smoked meats. The pizza was very tasty - crispy light crust and delicious flavorful meats. The sauce wasn't overly seasoned and was just the right amount. Very good pizza and not too expensive.

Both were great! The crust on the Hawaiian was a little better cooked than the other, but nothing that stops you from eating it. They have one red wine that you can get a glass of, paired nice with the pizza. Indoor and outdoor seating. It's not too big a place so seating can fill up fast. The yaletown park is right outside so great place to let kids run while you socialize Nothing too fancy, just a really good pizza place. This will be a good go-to since it's in our neighborhood.

We discovered AJ's while trying to find deep dish or Detroit pizza in Vancouver and all I want to…read moresay is that it is one of the best Detroit pizzas I have had, ever. It checks all of the boxes: thick, chewy, crispy, cheesy, saucy. One of my favorite pizzas is Detroit style pizza, which I actually discovered in Los Angeles, where I tried at no less than five different places. Most were really good, but AJ's Detroit pizza humbled all of the ones that are still there. I could have eaten half of it by myself. (The leftovers re-heated great and were just as satisfying the next day.) Note that AJ's regular pizza is great as well, but don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy their Detroit style.

A tale of two restaurants: the dine-in experience and the takeout experience aren't just polar…read moreopposites. They're at opposite ends of the solar system. Go in person. When the pizza comes straight out of that oven, piping hot and bubbly, it's an absolute revelation. Especially that Detroit style with the frico. Oh, man, is it ever good, and enough that you can cut the abrupt and often rude service some slack. Delivery from AJ's, by contrast, is one of the biggest mistakes you will ever make, as it's often painfully slow (like 90 min-2 hr slow). So, by the time your order arrives, and assuming you received the right order, it's often a lukewarm, rock hard and/or greasy mess and unrecognizable compared to what you can get dining in. For the price, you might as well light the money on fire. I haven't been back in a while because I've made it a rule not to order from here unless I have the time to physically go and eat it there. It is worth it to pay the premium for the product if you're going to consume it within a few minutes of it coming out of the oven. Otherwise, take a pass.

Woefully sub-average. It is best I can describe this place…read more Entered the place on a Monday afternoon whilst three East Indian men chillaxing in the dining area. They quickly jumped at my presence and returned to their stations as if they're caught slacking off. First idea was to order a deep dish but a few moments later upon entry I decided otherwise. I opted for 2 slices and a pop. Meatloaf and cheese. The sever didn't bother to warm them. They were dry and like old pizzas. Taste is okay/sub/average considering the price but very unlikely I will return.

I didn't have very high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas here. They offer a variety of veggie and meat pizzas that can be made with regular crust or deep dish style. We ordered a small deep dish margharita ($19.99) and a medium deep dish butter chicken ($23.99) pizza. Both weren't true deep dish pizzas, but the crust was nice and thick. I'd recommend the pizzas here to anyone who likes a breadier crust. My only minor complaint is that the pizzas didn't have enough sauce to complement the thick crust. The pizzas kept well for leftovers too. They tasted just as good the next day heated up in our toaster oven.
