Campground location of Route 66 is amazing!! Very easy check-in process with a huge shoutout to Gary for guiding us to our site! He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us such a warm welcome!!! Site was perfect for our 45ft fifth wheel toy hauler that left plenty of room for our tow vehicle too! Bathrooms were clean, functional and well maintained in both areas. Loved the abundance of trees everywhere and easy accessibility to the one mile on-site walking path as well. read more

On two seperate occasions in the last 3 months I've sent emails to the email on their page under contact us inquiring about about a long stay. I haven't heard a thing. Checked my spam folder thinking maybe a response went there but I didn't see anything. Perhaps they do have great service but I have yet to see it. read more

We consider this our home campground! The owners are fantastic people and offer great service for all their campers. Most recently we had a mishap at another facility but were able to come home and buy a new surge protector at the J's well stocked camp store! Saved by the best! Very nice RV campground right off I-55 with plenty of shade trees, wide spots, picnic tables, fire pits (they sell the firewood so you don't bring your own), car parking, full hookups, a big swimming pool, basketball court, horseshoe lawn, two fenced dog parks (one for bigger dogs, one for smaller dogs), a general store with a huge selection of RV parts and accessories, snacks, ice, and souvenirs. The best part of the park, however, is that the owners live on site, and run it personally. They are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A winning combination! read more

We were traveling through the Springfield area and made reservations at the Double J Campground. That was an easy experience with very friendly people. We stayed at a pull thru site and it was almost perfectly level. The site was gravel and had a nice grass area with a picnic table and a fire ring. The sites are a good size and long enough to park our pickup and 35 foot fifth wheel easily. We really enjoyed our stay so much that we returned the next week on our way home. Here's what we love: clean laundry that is not over priced. We paid $1.50 to wash and $2 to dry. Lots of room to fold clothes and sit. The walking trail was great. I love having a nice place to walk with our dogs that is not just walking up and down isles of RVs. It's about a mile right in the park-gotta love that! Speaking of dogs-this campground in dog friendly too. We don't travel with kiddos, but there were really nice amenities for them too. Volleyball, horseshoes, playground, basketball and a big lawn checker game. How fun! It rained one day, so we enjoyed the cable tv hookup. It had all the channels we wanted. I appreciated that there was a guide and a nice channel lineup card that we received when we checked in. Finally, there is a lot of Lincoln and Route 66 attractions near by. We will make sure to return. This place is great! read more

We visited Double J for a few days when the temperatures were near and below freezing and we were well accommodated. This is a fine facility no matter what time of year you are visiting, but in late fall, it is quiet, peaceful and full of amenities like reliable WI-Fi, pull through sites, full hook ups and cable TV. The tornado shelters are clearly marked so even if you don't use the showers and bathrooms, you know exactly where the shelters are. Signage at the exit helps navigate to the correct expressway entrance, too. We were escorted to our spot upon arrival and helped to get lined up right for the hook ups. We couldn't have had a more pleasant experience and recommend this campground for glampers like ourselves. read more

Was just there July 7 & 8, Beautiful campground with lots of free activities - putt putt, shuffle board, pool, game room. Easy access on & off the highway the only problem I experienced was mid afternoon the 8th we were sitting out site & my dog was swarmed with gnats. Had to brush her off & put her in the camper. Fogged the site & we were good for about an hour. Then they were back with a vengeance had to put the dog back in the camper. Wound up taking the dog to the vet with an eye problem. read more

This is a very nice campground. The owners seem to work hard to keep it that way. I often saw their people out and about picking up my any trash and generally checking to see that everything was good. The sites are pretty good size. There is a lot of green grass space and shade trees. More than you see at most places. Even the dog parks were lush green grass which is really unusual to find. The park is gated which stops random drive vehicles but random people can walk in. Nice amenities. Relatively quiet and very dark at night. Our only complaint was that the sites weren't really wide enough to allow you to set up camp. They do not allow camp rugs on the grass which leaves almost no place to set up a patio. read more

Out stay was short, but nonetheless great. My husband & I stayed here for 2 weeks. We travel for work & live in our trailer full time. We stayed during the "winter" season, the owners out us by a spot that was within walking distance from the showers/laundry. The showers were very clean, & the water stays hot. Washer & dyer work great as well $1.50 to wash $2.00 to dry. The campground is close to the highway but no loud highway noise. It was very calm & quiet here. They have a great office up front with a lot of "accessories" for campers/rvs. Our neighbors were great as well as the owners. Rent is very reasonable as well. If we are ever around the area again we will be back to stay. read more

First time here. It's been raining and our lot had a lot of water and mud. We were only here one night. It's big and they were working on the pool. We had a pull thru site and it was mostly level, due to the mud and soft ground. People were nice. They had a nice store on site. The price was steep for the off season and they charged us for pulling a utility trailer behind our 5th wheel. Never got charged anywhere before. Good enough for one night. read more

Probably the best campground we have stayed in ever. They are friendly and helpful. The restrooms are the nicest and cleanest I have seen. They have great laundry facility and lots of extras - mini golf, basketball, walking trails, playground, pool, pingpong, fuse ball, horseshoes... The grounds are well maintained - the drainage for rain is great - the gravel is deep to allow drainage and no mud! Lots of space at the sites. Wifi worked well. The only negative is that we are constantly comparing to it and every place falls short! read more

Was very pleased with this RV Park. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I called the office in the late afternoon as we neared Springfield. Ask about a pull thru since we are towing a vehicle and didn't want to unhook for just 1 night. Almost all their plots are pull thru of didn't lengths. Worked very well for us. Sites are adequate in size and level for the most. Bathrooms/showers were extremely well maintained. And there is a pool for your enjoyment. We are traveling in a class C motor home read more

It's no wonder this place doesn't have a good rep, it's a campground run with terrible service. Ridiculously rude attitudes for no reason. We went into this place intending to stay 3 nights, but left a day early because we didn't feel comfortable staying in a place that is so uninviting and unwelcoming. You can't even talk to a single person who works there without getting some immensely rude remark or getting treating in some crappy way. I've never been more grateful to leave a place and I've never felt more excited to leave anywhere. Don't ever plan on coming back and I hope their terrible attitudes bite there business in the butt one day. read more

Lots of amenities and VERY clean and modern bathrooms. In our trip from Illinois to Texas to Oklahoma and back we stayed at a total of (4) campgrounds; this one, 2 in Missouri and 1 in Oklahoma. This was far and away the nicest. Would stay again. read more

Although my visit was short, it was fabulous!! The staff were so friendly and helpful! They helped a single woman traveling alone feel safe and cared for!! I was given a spot near the bathroom, kindling and a starter for my fire, and they lead you to your campsite. True service!! Thanks again! You should drive out of your way in order to stay at this campground. Not only are the staff exceptionally friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay memorable, but the campground is clean, quiet, level for RVs, and they offer laundry, showers, wi-fi, a top notch RV supply store, a Good Same discount ($3.95) and a very reasonable rate per night. We needed to replace our plumbing pipes and holding tank valves, along with our kitchen faucet in our RV. What parts they didn't have, Double J was able to get a day later for us. They answered repair questions for us too (note: they don't DO repairs at the campground, but the folks who work there are KNOWLEDGEABLE). We even had a couple of campsite neighbors offer use of their tools and plumbing expertise if needed. All in all, we greatly enjoyed our stay here and hope to return sooner rather than later. I would give them NO stars......we stayed over the weekend and their power went out in an ENTIRE row of campers. Everyone left including us because it was getting hot fast. The whole row that we stayed on had "reverse polarity" on our power hookup. The campground said it was our camper . We were slated to stay on Sunday and leave on Monday but we have 4 little kids and no one was answering about coming to fix the power on our campsite and it was getting hot FAST so we made the decision to leave. Called today to get a refund for the last day we were suppose to stay but they said they wouldn't do it since it was a technical issue with our camper and not their campsite. Low and behold we got home and our camper had no technical issues. The owner lady on the phone was VERY rude and hung up on us!!! I will be telling everyone we know NOT to go here. Rude owners and not responsible! Only in it for profit! We talked to our neighbors at the campsite and they were have to use their generator, they also said no one answered and was told it wouldn't be fixed until Monday. read more

Cleanest, nicest bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground!! Very large area. Playground, pool, golf, basketball, and a make shift game room. Owners were so sweet and easy to talk to. Friendliest ladies working the front desk. Huge store with (real) food (not just candy & chips), TONS of RV parts, upgrades, etc (larger than our local RV store!), very clean grounds, and easy hookups. Nice large pull through sites. Was well populated but nice and quiet for the most part. Highway is nearby but not a bother really. Wifi was nice and strong til around dinnertime when the signal strength dropped waaay down. Not sure what happened with that but it was pretty much un-usable. Nice looking pool though I didn't use it. Loved the wooded lot... made me feel right at home :) read more

Campground very clean and shady, with strict rules on set up and visitors. No activities here. Highway noise is constant.

My husband & I stayed here for 1 month & it was by far the nicest place we have stayed. We travel for work & wish all places were this good! The grounds are kept up really well, there's a nice pool, 2 dog walks-wish they had been fenced but at least had a big space to walk our 2 dogs around & they provide waste bags. The owners Liz & Larry live on site & are very helpful if you need anything. We never had loud neighbors or any disturbances which is a big plus. We were able to get our mail sent here without any issues. Water pressure was good & we were close to highway access to Springfield. We had a satellite ready spot & we always felt safe. If we ever come back through for work we would definitely stay here again! They were alittle more expensive than other places, do charge for extra vehicle & if you pull a trailer. People comment about their rules but in all honesty they just want to maintain a nice campground & it's all pretty common sense. We found the staff very helpful and friendly and our pull-thru site had mature trees which provided some shelter. The campground was convenient to the highway and it was easy to go into Springfield from here. The bathrooms were clean and shower stalls private but allowed only one temperature - lukewarm when I showered. There was a large grassy area for games and a pavillion. We had severe thunderstorms while overnighting there so I appreciated the fact that we were told without asking, where to go in the event of a tornado. It had a strange little miniature golf course on the theme of Route 66. read more

Due to our daughter being a new hire for MacMurray College and closing on a home plus moving in, etc., we thought it would be a good place to be. read more

Let me start off with the positives. It is a clean well maintained campground. The weather was very hot, so the shady level pull thru site was very nice. The pool looked nice, but we never went in it. They have a good size dog park area and provide waste bags. They have a nice store with RV items as well. Their quiet time from 10pm-7am was nice and people seemed to abide by it. Price was good. Now for the negatives.The sites and interior roads are gravel and dust does get kicked up. We were not allowed to put up our dog fence (I should've asked before making reservations but we've never had an issue at any other campground we've stayed at) which is a big deal for us since our dogs like to be able to roam around while off leash. Not being able to put up the fence was bad enough, but then there was no fence around the dog park area.(again to let them run off leash). I tried several times to connect to the internet with no luck or when I did, it was VERY VERY slow, so I basically just used my own data plan. You cannot use your carpet on the grass, which I understand, but there is no non-grassy area provided next to the site. Our site seemed a bit too close to the other sites next to us for our liking also. They are next to a highway, but we weren't bothered by the noise. read more
