We were traveling through the area yesterday and decided to stop at the campground for a quick…read moreovernight stay. We pulled around to the check in office around 630 and discovered the office was closed. We called the number with no answer and then went to the office to see if there were late check in directions. Unfortunately there were not. There were multiple sites open so we decided to pull through a spot right next to the office so we could pay in the morning. After pulling through a man on a gator pulled up to us yelling and raising his hands aggressively "we are closed!" Alarmed by his reaction we left. I've never encountered a more rude campground interaction. We won't be back ever which is too bad bc the grounds are very nicely kept. Please add a sign "absolutely no late checks ins without a reservation " so u don't have to yell at anyone else.

Double J is the absolute nicest and well thought out campground we have ever stayed at…read more Checkin staff so very pleasant, wonderfully spaced sites with nice round stone to park and walk on (thus no dust and dirt!) nice grass, and shade. My dogs are rooting to come back as the dog park was simply amazing. Roads in and out were well planned for big rigs and especially for big rigs towing a vehicle. Noise from the highway was very muted and just to be sure we slept well, we ran our a.c. fan on low. It was simply the best!

This place is a bit west of Bloomington Illinois. We stopped here on our way to Iowa just for one…read morenight. The park itself is very pretty, lots of green space, very mature trees that provide a ton of shade, picnic tables, and fire rings and it is very clean. The downside is you are sandwiched between Highway 74 and a train track and it is very loud. I can honestly say and all of our travels this is the loudest we have ever had From a nearby highway. We had our overhead fan running on high all night and you could still hear the semi's rumbling by so we did not get a good night sleep. There is a nice pool here and they had music playing so the kids would probably really enjoy this place. Lots of room to roam! We were assigned slot 19, which is a nice pull through site. We did have a bit of trouble with low water pressure at this site. We also could not get the Wi-Fi to work. We could connect, but the speakers were so low. We couldn't do anything with it. We have Verizon and cell service was great so that worked out for us. At $36 per night for a 30 amp site with a good Sam discount it's a pretty good deal. Staff were super friendly as well.
