What initially created the need for the call was a gas fireplace that would not ignite I had previously tried ChatGPT, called a chimney sweep company, and even called the previous owner of my house, all to no avail. Within a few minutes of of arriving, Jordan was able to locate the hidden shut off for the gas fireplace and get it working pretty promptly. While here, he was able to notice a couple of other things that needed attention. My tankless water heater had been installed incorrectly by the previous plumber, and the technicians from Hukill's were able to manage that. And also, when it came to a clogged sink in our master bathroom, they were able to address that as well. By the end of our time together I had heard some good stories from Jordan, I was able to practice my French with Joseph and most importantly had a lot of small annoyances cleared up (literally) leaving my home in better functioning order than when they arrived. However, this particular matter warrants just that! If you are searching for a builder/general contractor (GC), I strongly encourage you to avoid Top Hand Construction/Rick Jordan at all cost! First, no reputable GC asks for a security deposit upfront before any work has been completed. I know this because I have spoken with multiple... I quickly realized the GCs who requested deposits weren't honest individuals. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way... I'll post Mr. Jordan's criminal history a little later. If you value your time, money, and want a professional end-product, look for someone else. On Top Hand Construction's Facebook page, it shows my barndo. Note: Mr. Jordan did NOT build that! He was enlisted to build a small 750sqft apartment, attached to the main barn. From the very moment he started framing there were problems. If you want someone who will not only take/withhold your money, but find ways to charge you more, he is your guy. If you want someone who is unprofessional and disrespectful, he is your guy. If you want a GC who does nothing more than call the subcontractors, he is your guy. If you're looking for someone to take advantage of you, he is your guy. If you don't care about quality and craftsmanship, he is your guy. Statement of facts: - He has a criminal history. - Pay close attention to your invoices. He has/most likely will charge you incorrectly. - He will not communicate in writing. Regardless how many times asked to do so. That's a red flag. - Make sure you read every thing before you sign his contract.
