Our favorite friendly comic shop in the area. Huge selection of every nerdy thing, lots of space for tabletop games in the back, a pretty generous store credit system, and super nice staff. We always are reminded how much we like this place when we go and all the employees are so chill and unpretentious, which is not a given for lots of places we've been to for collectibles in the past. As a generic nerd who is not a comic book/collectibles nerd, I have always found the staff here to be helpful and kind when I've needed an assist for something. read more

Excellent customer service. I was immediately greeted and after briefly reviewing a card case, I was followed up with anything specific I wanted to look at. I was looking for a very specific and rare card for a gift for a friend. The staff seemed very knowledgeable for what I was looking for. Isaiah (hopefully spelled correctly) went above and beyond for me. Reasonable priced, knowledgeable, very friendly. While I was waiting, briefly checked out the rest of the store - very cool and lots of different selections. Would highly recommend to anyone. S/o Isaiah again, you're the man!!! This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I stopped by about 30 minutes before closing. I was interested in a few Spider-Man back issues, graded comics, and a Pokémon card. I politely asked if there was any flexibility on the prices since I was buying multiple items. I wasn't demanding a discount, just asking. Instead, the employee scoffed, said, "Is this a joke? It's what's on the sticker," and insisted that asking about prices was "very rude," all with visible attitude in front of staff and other customers. It was uncomfortable and awkward. I had been to this store earlier in the year, and we had a friendly negotiation on Pokémon cards with no issue. When I mentioned that, the employee just crossed their arms and said, "cool," followed by more awkward silence. I understand businesses need to make money, but there is no excuse for hostility toward a simple, polite question. I would have happily paid full price if handled professionally. This experience was so off-putting that I will not be returning. It is a shame, because the store has an impressive selection of comics, cards, and collectibles. I hope others have a better experience, but be warned, asking about prices here might ruin your visit. read more

I placed an order with them through TCGPlayer. I've verified that their tcgplayer market place and is business are the same business. I spent $60 on 8 cards. When it arrived, I noticed that the authentication seal that is required for all Yugioh cards to be deemed legitimate for tournament use was outright missing on 1 of the cards, and damaged on 4 others. There is a clear imprint on all of the affected cards demonstrating it is more than likely a misprint rather than outright counterfeit, however, regardless of the circumstances, any card with a missing or damaged authentication seal is not allowed for tournament use classifying the cards as damaged. I reached out to the seller requesting to return the cards, as they were listed as Near Mint and with the authentication seal missing they are actually classified as damaged/unplayable. Per TCGPlayer terms of service, if a seller mislabels a card as the incorrect condition, they must work with the buyer to either determine a suitable partial refund, or if that can't be agreed to, the seller must allow the buyer to return the cards for a refund at the sellers cost. This isn't my opinion or my request, this is tcgplayer written sitewide policy that all sellers must adhere to. So I ask to return the cards citing them being clearly damaged. The seller immediately acts stupid pretending as though he wasn't sure if the card missing the authentication seal classifies it as damaged and attempted to roadblock and stall by claiming he is escalating to TCGPlayer. I called him out for this, as its as clear cut as it gets that the card is damaged and that per the policy I am entitled to a return. The seller claimed that TCGPlayer would get back to him within 24 hours. Its been a week now so I reached out to them myself to complain and ask them to step in. They then responded to me within 24 hours, indicating that either he never escalated and simply claimed so hoping I'd forget about it, or that he did receive an update but chose not to do anything for over a week. TCGPlayer assured me they will be stepping in. In the mean time I checked the other reviews for this store on their site and saw that there are tons of complaints for similar issues, including them even cancelling orders on cards spontaneously only to relist the cards at higher prices (which is as scummy as it gets). Bottom line, DO NOT use this business either in person or online. Their behavior was so scummy I'm surprised they have enough of a customer base to support a local shop. read more

I love Double Midnight. I was into comics a bit as a kid, and didn't really get back involved until my son started taking Tae Kwon Do next door. Double Midnight is now an almost weekly stop. My son spends pretty much all of his allowance on comics, graphic novels and Pokemon cards there and the staff is always happy to talk with him (no small feat when dealing with a enthusiastic 7 year old). There aren't enough good things to say about Double Midnight and the guys that run the shop. These guys have effectively put together the most welcoming, well organized, and well run comic store in New England, so much that I am willing to drive 25 minutes out of my way every week to spend my money with them, in favor of any one of the three available shops in my own city. Within maybe a week or two of my continued business, I found myself being greeted by name by the owner/operators of the shop. This goes a long way in driving great customer service, especially with such a large host of "regulars" in the shop each week. Can't find something? Just ask, and if it's available, it'll be ordered for you, and dropped into your folder as soon as it arrives. This may seem almost expected, but in the close to 10 years that I've been buying on a weekly basis, this shop was the first to offer this service to me. To even further drive to point that these guys appreciate your business, send a friend: my wife and mother were recently in the shop hunting down stocking stuffers for me. My mother later raved about how friendly the guys were, helping her with everything she needed. After the holidays were over, and I found myself back in the shop, one of the owners shared with me how much my family brightened his day while they were shopping there. These guys WANT your business, and they go to great lengths to show it. Give them a try - I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

When the "Batman: Damned" comic price soared past cover price and everyone was buying them up to put them on eBay the owner took his copies off the shelf, not to sell them on eBay for a huge profit, but to save them to sell at cover price to customers. The combination of the rewards program and the excellent customer service makes this place finally earn that last star for me as its pretty darn unbelievably great; near unbeatable really for the primary need of a comic store: obtaining your weekly fix. I could be stingy and still keep it down at 4 stars as I do think the store could do just a tad more to make it stand out to the infrequent visitor who is in so rarely that the rewards program won't really help them... but really, for just how amazing this place is for their regulars (who should be, and are, the primary concern), this store deserves that full 5 stars. I've been going to this store since I was a kid and have never had a bad experience. Played cards in the game room and I still get my comics here even though I've moved out of town. Friendly staff and they have someone to answer any of your questions regardless of what it's about. Whether you're looking for new stuff to read, new cards for your game of choice, or just want to talk about pop culture, there's someone there to help. This place is pretty good, though their alternative comics (or "indie" comics) section is lacking. They have pretty much the same thing all comic stores do, except the alternative comics. In regards to customer service, it sways both ways. Sometimes, usually when you are the only one in the store, the service is exceptional. But if there is some regular customer(s) drooling over the cashier, as there usually is, you will be completely ignored while the cashier completes the transaction, handing you your goods and receipt, all the while not even pausing the conversation he was having with his regular customer(s), barely looking you in the eye. This, and the small alternative comics selection, is why I usually shop elsewhere. read more

Great store, it was well organized, clean, polite staff. It did not take long for me to find my way around the place. My only problem was the markdown/bin comics where small there really wasn't much that caught my eye in the quarter bins. I don't frequent thus store but when I do it's a good experience. + it's right in Manchester doesn't get much better. read more

I've been coming here since you guys opened, literally. Past few years that dude Tony with the glasses has been less than subpar. I ALWAYS have to remind him to add the points onto my account. Every single time. Sometimes he'll look up the name but not add the points. The other day during the customer appreciation 25% off sale I went in and spent a decent amount of money and even asked about the sale as I was cashing out. He doesn't give me a receipt and as I get to my car I do some math and notice the discount wasn't even applied. What's the point of offering a discount if you don't get it? Why do I keep having to remind him to add the points to my account ? He's extremely friendly with his friends but not to a customer who's spent Thousands and thousands of dollars there over the past 18 years. I live 30 seconds away but have been driving 30 mins to another comic book shop for the past couple years for better customer service. And every time I ask for a book I don't see he simply says "yeah we probably don't have that" without even looking, while they have signs that literally say " if you don't see it, ask. I am sometimes intimidated by being "the girl in the comic store" when I go to other places. A lot of comic stores are disorganized and I can't wrap my mind around things and just sort of wander aimlessly... Double Midnight is honestly the first place that I've gone where I've been fully engaged in the shopping experience. Everything is well laid out, well lit, and easy to browse. The staff there are friendly, helpful, and want you to be there! You don't feel like you're interrupting them by asking a question about their stock. I was impressed by the deals in the game section; if you purchase a game along with an expansion, you will receive 20% off of the expansion. That will really come in handy if you fall into a game after the expansions have already come out. Helps you to try new things to the fullest. I'm definitely more than willing to go back to this store. I'm sure my boyfriend will be thrilled to hear that... read more

Best comic store in NH

I visited Double Midnight today after seeing a commercial for it during late night television a few nights ago. I am very particular about comic shops. Obviously their comic selection has to be diverse. But I do not collect comics like I used to. I am more into the action figure aspect of comic book shops these days, so shops that I favor have to have a good balance of collectibles and comics. That is why I found the idea of traveling to Double Midnight so intriguing. I am used to going to places like Harrison's in Salem or any of the Newbury Comics locations (I think I've been to all of them). The tv ad made it seem like Double Midnight was a big comic book store like the others mentioned herein, and that was the appeal. But Double Midnight's ad was a tad deceptive. It promised a lot so I had higher expectations. In reality it's a standard sized comic shop with a very large room at the back for gaming. I think they play Magic there, for any readers who may be interested in that. As far as what I was actually interested in, the store does have a fairly good selection of action figures to choose from. I ended up leaving with a Walking Dead zombie figure. But there wasn't much else I was interested in. The prices are pretty standard, competitive for what they are yet not cheap. I will say that although Harrison's in the mall of New Hampshire is larger, they did not have anything I wanted while Double Midnight did. But Harrison's is a small chain, and I am much more fond of their selection of collectibles. Besides, I'm sure the selection changes from week to week, so maybe the comparison is unfair. Honestly though, I felt that although I did leave with something I was looking for, the trip to Double Midnight was sort of a waste for me. I kind of felt let down by their commercial, like a kid who sees an ad for a theme park who ends up going and half the rides are broken. Double Midnight is a decent comic book store. DMC was great. I walked into DMC and the workers had a smile on there face and the customers were very happy. While I browse for MTG items I noticed how the workers helped out people in need and it made me feel better. I found exactly what I needed. There is a wide selection of your geeky items from comics, figures, apparel, and MTG. I checked out my items and left DMC. I immediately wanted to go back. I emailed them 3 times already to make an appointment to look at my comic book collection... no response at all.

Brought some books to be looked over by the store, not only did I get GROSSLY under judged on some books that are hot right now (New Mutants #98, Infinity Gauntlet 1-3, and others) Thinking I got unfairly judged on my books I did not want to sell. Thinking I would get my books back in total I was missing Infinity Gauntlet 1-3 when I reviewed them when I got home. I searched my things at home to make sure I did not misplace them at home. Did not find them and when confronting the store was told a kinda lie, stating they had seen infinity gauntlet #3 but not 1 and 2. Did not offer help finding them beyond denying that they had them, police stated there was no way to prove they did in fact take them but my word against their word. So Social media here I come. They put a good front, but comics are about relationships and trust. We in the comics world treasure our books and our collections. So I am out over about 700-900 in comics if I sold them as that is what they are currently going for on Ebay. Well hope they choke on them because I will keep writing to tell the world.
