Place has been the same for the last 30 years. The comic book selection is smaller but they have plenty of Pokemon cards.

Cards very high high priced as are comics. Supplies are good priced and they have good collection of Funkpops Understaffed, only 1 person I think works there and the phone is always off the hook. The biggest problem is most of the better inventory is stuck in Seabrook, where I think the owner works, not this one. Traffic is also very horrible at this one. Guy that works here is very willing to help, but he has too too much work to do. I blame that on the owner. Owner is greedy. Decent prices on sports card hobby boxes with the exception of new and popular hobby releases (like 2022 Bowman baseball for example, priced about 25% above msrp). Some of the retail products (hanger boxes) and flagship releases (2022 Topps jumbo and hobby) are very well priced. Great selection of storage items like shoe boxes, one touch, top loaders, sleeves, etc. Lots of higher end basketball and football hobby boxes. Would be good if they always had someone in the shop authorized to actually make offers on cards - as that would probably increase the inventory turn over and selection of individual cards. Some cool older grades Slabs of obscure players at reasonable prices. Majority of the shop is comics. No sports memorabilia. More organized than their Seabrook shop. read more

I never mind it here but the Seabrook store DOES have a stronger selection of back issues and toys.

The last time I went here, I asked for some hobby packs and I swear he hand-searched the packs to make sure I wouldn't get any hits. And when it comes to buying comics, he always makes these contemptuous suggestions based upon my purchasing preferences. He treats me like I'm a 90s speculator and I've had it. I love the comic selection here. They have lots of old comics and a wide variety of new ones. I have been shopping here for at least 4 years now. I have gained a greater appreciation of comic books since coming here. I started reading the Simpsons Comics but have found so many more comics that have gained my interest. I signed up for a subscription so the staff puts aside the comics series I like and I can come in about a month later and pick them up with a discount off the total. It is just an amazing store and I highly recommend it for anyone's comic book needs read more

Facebook has changed how I look at this store. It's still the same place, but you have to check their facebook page every few days to make sure there isn't some massive sale on graphic novels going on. I tell you, I've gotten home from days out, only to check their page on facebook just by chance, seen that there was some great one-day sale I just missed, and have cursed out loud. Thanks to these unpredictable random sales (valid at both locations), this store is worth visiting much more often than I'd initially thought; even if a special half-hour trip is required to do so. The other location is still so much bigger that it's worth checking out more frequently than this one even when sales aren't going on, but this one's not at all bad. The discounted graphic novel bins (still the main reason to come here if it isn't your local comic fix) seem to get refilled more frequently than I'd at first thought, which keeps me coming back for those amazing $5 phone books. read more

Seabrook shop is great (I have not been to the Salem location). They were able to get a couple of special orders for me that were hard to find. Their selection is really extensive and staff is friendly. read more

If you want bad servic e go to the Salem store, if you want an arrogant jerk to wait on you go there, if you want over priced crappy back issuess go there, let me reiterate that the guy working there (young kid in his late 20's early 30's, with short hair) is a complete jerk. He has no personality and is rude to his customers. I will drive an additional 30 miles to the next closest comic books store rather than ever go there again! NEVER BUY FROM THEM! The back issue collection of comics is very good. There are also memorabilia and other little nicknacks but I have to say the owner/manager is not friendly. I have gone here a few times in two years and he just comes across as very cold...very distant...maybe its clinical....but when selecting comics I want to be around fun sales people who enjoy talking about comics. Everything is there is overpriced,but I can deal with that. The kicker is the kid with the wiffle behind the counter,he has a crap attitude and acts like you are doing him a favor when you go in there.Stood at the card counter for 5 minutes and not once did he or the other guy in there ask me if i wanted help or if i was interested in buying anything.Wiffle attitude boy was more interested in talking to his geek boyfriend at the counter about video games.Dont know how this place stays in business.I will buy from blowout cards online...better prices by far.This place sucks. read more

For sportscards packs and boxes, Chris' has the best selection and prices in New England. I have purchased many over the years and because of so many great pulls, I am certain he doesn't cherry pick like many others do these days. It's no surprise hundreds of other shops have closed while Chris' continues to flourish. read more

Not the biggest comic book dude, so i may think this place is a lot cooler than it really is. I've been in here a couple times (i really only read comics when something comes out that really interests me, which isn't very often) and every time the guys working there have been really helpful (basically i have found the comics i'm into (darker stuff/horror themed stuff) aren't really carried there but they have a lot of it in their seabrook store) as, again, i'm not a huge comic guy so i didn't really know exactly what i was looking for, but they were able to find me stuff i was into. According to a friend of mine, this is the place to buy Magic cards, if that's your thing. read more

Chris's cards blows away the competition. From Manchester to the MA border Chris's Cards and Comics was by far the most friendliest and up to date shop we have visited. The person working the day was very knowledgeable and very helpful as to the collection we have and are trying to sell. It was hard for me to go into this store and not want to spend a couple hundred dollars even knowing we were thee to try and sell some of our collection. Just walking thru the door and then seeing all the wax packs and boxes just made my mouth water. The prices are fair compared to the other shops we have been too. I would recommend Chris's in a heart beat and look forward to just st oping in when ever I / We are in the area, it is well worth the stop. read more

I've been buying comics at Chris's in Salem for six or seven years now, and I've never had a bad experience. Staff has always been courteous, attentive, and helpful, both to me and to my grandchildren when I've brought them in with me. A few months back the younger gentleman who is almost always working there - "the kid with the wiffle," by the way - greeted me with a copy of a "Superman/Lois Lane Wedding" volume that my grandson had asked him about several weeks previously. It was just a $5.00 package - not a big profit item for him or the store, but an excellent example of caring and customer service. 18 packs of Pokemon cards. No holos. 75% of them were the same pack art.. Seems to me they weigh their packs. No integrity. Will never be there again. Just go to target pay 70 more cents a pack and get way better cards. Never again.. read more
