What can I say. The pizza was S.A.D. We opted for the 1 Large 2 topping Pizza with 20 wings deal ($22.99). We were drawn to the FREE DELIVERY and wanted something that could feed our family of 4 (2-adults, 2 kids (3-5)) We paid over $28 (including delivery+.50 credit card. *What?* ). Once we opened the box, we KNEW we were going to be still hungry. The Pizza looked like a small medium, not a Large. The dough was extremely thin (we didn't order thin crust) and the toppings were minimum. The upside to this meal was the wings, they were perfectly made and very flavorful. Would i order here again? Probably not. If you want an outrageously over priced pizza and you're in the mood for that High School Pizza taste (you know that pizza they preheated for you for lunch in high school? )then go for it. I would say the pizza is ok! But they keep putting the prices up and they have "coupons" on their website but every time I try to use one they say the prices went up. What's the point of having those coupons if they are never valid. read more

The pizza is actually pretty good. They use a special tomato sauce that sets them apart from other pizzas. We always get 2 large combos with free liter of cola. This place does not have room for you to sit, so it's either delivery or pickup and the staff is always friendly. read more

So why does this place deserve 5 stars? Well let's go through each star. In no particular order of course. Star 1 - it's a local mom and pop shop. It's been around for as long as I remember. We started going sometime in the 90's and haven't stopped. Star 2 - the quality. The quality competes among any of the big chains and even any of the smaller chains. I would almost ALWAYS choose this place over anywhere else. Star 3 - the consistency. Like I said, I've been coming since the 90's and it's always been great. The dough hasn't changed, the cheese hasn't changed and the amount they put on each pizza hasn't changed. Star 4 - The speed. I can go in about 10 minutes and they always have my pizza ready for me. It doesn't matter if it's one or four pizzas, it's always fresh and ready. Star 5 - the price. I picked up a medium pepperoni pizza for about $6.50! I don't know another place where you can get a great pizza for that price. They also have great delivery deals. Two pizza and soda for like $15! read more

This place is by far my favorite pizza joint if I want a good ol' fashion, no thrills no frills pizza. Their crust is soft and fluffy and they're generous with the toppings. I throw caution to the lactose intolerant because they smother their pie with cheese. They gave me unsauced BBQ wings and when I called to complain they said that's how they come, wow really I've never eaten them like that before and then said I could bring them back to show them. The pizza is pretty good and the prices are great but man are they are STINGY with toppings! That's the only thing that bothers me. I love a pepperoni and mushroom pizza but the amount of mushrooms is so disappointing. I even ordered extra and paid $2 more and when I opened the box it looked nothing like extra. Double Play pizza isn't the best pizza in the world but it has a great flavor, texture, topping to crust ratio, and the price can't be beat. I would take Double Play over greasy Pizza Hut any day. Really good pizza! I hate chain pizza places and prefer mom & pop chains. This place is really good! I've ordered twice already. I really enjoyed the combo pizza, really delicious but kind of pricey. Their carry out special are really great deals. I think for 2 Medium 1 topping pizza and 1 litter soda is $18. I'm pretty sure that's what we paid. We don't even live near here but we most definitely would not mind coming back when in this area! 1st off because of the EXPERIENCE we received. They were already closed and we just happened to walk in and they greatly took our order without hesitation nor showing that we were inconveniencing since they were all cleaned up and ready to call it a day! It is businesses like this that deserve to be told what great pleasure it is to spend money at their facility! I might be biased because I used to deliver pizzas for this place, but I love Double Play Pizza. I don't work here anymore, because I moved out of La Puente, but when I come back I make sure to swing by and grab some food. The owners are awesome and very honest people just trying to make a buck and serve the community. All the food is made to order and much better tasting and healthier for you than big chain pizza stores like Pizza Hut and Dominoes. Also great price especially if you pick up. It is sort of a whole in the wall, so I wouldn't recommend coming to eat here. Best to call in your order and pickup or get delivery. 2 large pizzas with a free soda is their best deal! And their calzones are also awesome if you're just eating for yourself. They have wings, too. I usually stick to the BBQ wings (insider tip, they run BBQ wings through the oven 3 times so it's a little crispier than regular hot wings - you can ask them to make the hot wings crispy and they'll run it through the oven one extra time). If you live in La Puente, this is the only pizza place you need to visit. They are incredibly friendly and have an awesome product; their pizza is as good as any I've ever had in SoCal and they really throw in lots of cheese to make each bite worth it. Best part though is probably the pricing; they always got great deals and are more than affordable. Local pizza joint. Ordered a large pepperoni, bacon bits, and pineapple pizza as well as a meatball sub for the BF. First off the manager (middle aged man) was super kind and helpful on what to order. I thought it was going to cost more due to some of the prices on the menu but he explained that the prices are different for the medium and large pizzas with an extra charge for topping. The pizza was very tasty with those bacon bits hitting the spot, no weak bacon here. The pepperoni had those crisp edges that i love so much, I called dibs on the slice with super crispy edges. The boyfriend liked the sub, said it was solid, not the best he ever had but he ordered it on our next visit so you be the judge on that one. We left curious about the rest of the menu, usually just order pizza but will be back to further explore the menu. Also a 7/11 is located right next to it as well as a small bionico place which is perfect for adding any other snacks to those food coma oriented movie nights. They were out of crushed red pepper the first time around so 4 stars but its a nice change of pace to big chain pizza spots :) read more
