Read the 1 star reviews before going... I checked the reviews after stopping here with my kid, and they're accurate. This was nearest to where we were visiting. It was an unpleasant first visit. My kid and I read the menu online... Went in to order the 19", my kid politely asked for the 19", then I started to ask about other sizes with the intent to possibly buy another pizza. With a slight eye roll and an unpleasant stare, the guy tells me, "The sizes are written there," and he points with his pen, as if I'm putting him out of his way. I attempted to ask again... He says the same thing. I tell him that we read the menu online... I think I'll be able to finish asking. He repeats--rudely--doesn't let me finish asking. I told him he has poor service, and we left. I was shocked with the bad first impression, but people have bad days. Reading posts confirms it's common. It is unfortunate for their business. It was quite empty for a Saturday, and with no smiles from any of the staff, with it being clean enough, if the food tastes good enough, it seems they just have to work on their hospitality. I travel quite a bit. I've experienced plenty. This shocked me, but hopefully they take customer feedback. read more

Food: (5/5) Have been coming to New York Pizzeria since I was a kid. Definitely a hole in the wall/gem located in Walnut. My family are patrons here for a reason, and it's because their thin crust pizza here is unbeatable. Their crust is the perfect thickness yet perfectly crunchy at the same time it's so addicting you'll definitely be back for more. Their sizes range from small to x-large. We typically ask them to cut the slices smaller. Our other favorites besides their pizza are their chicken wings, potato wedges, lasagna, and meatballs. Pro tip: ask for them to make it extra crispy (will take longer). Some dishes come with their salad if I'm not mistaken. They used to advertise a $12/$13 large pizza Monday special although I'm not certain if this is still ongoing. Service: (5/5) I always see the same man manning the table. Super kind and they give crushed red peppers and Parmesan cheese packets upon request. Their paper plates and utensils are self serve to the right of the window. I appreciate how you can call ahead to order as it takes about 15-20 minutes for your order to be prepared. Ambiance: (5/5) Lots of people come here to watch games. They have a surplus of TVs. It's very accurate in the description to mention that New York Pizzeria has one (though very big) TV as the focal point in their dining area. For starters, we ordered the tossed green salad with cheese ($6.95). Chopped romaine lettuce comes covered with a layer mozzarella with a little mound of black olives on top like a cake topper + four slices of tomato. It could have stood for pepperoncinis or red onions to break up the cheese and olive duo. The salad is visually comical, but fine. The wings ($9.95) were good except they were rather smol. Like baby chicken small. We ordered the New York Special ($22.70) which is their rendition of a supreme. They pack it high with toppings with a sturdy crust. Notably - it has an excellent meat to veggie ratio. I like my bell pepper and onions to be cooked down a bit, so I found these to be undercooked. Overall, the pizza is good, however, nothing to write home about. I came here to catch the Laker game on the very big TV. Honestly, this place falls squarely between a 3 and 4. The food is okay good, you can catch the/a game without fighting for a table, and the everything is shockingly cheap. While I didn't quite love everything I ordered, I felt like they were all relatively good, given the price. There's plenty more to try off their menu - pastas and sandwiches - so I'm bound to find a favorite. read more

The pizzeria's Monday special caught my attention, so I decided to try it out for the first time. For $12.99, I got a large size (14") one topping pizza, freshly baked after about 15-20 minutes of waiting. Inside the box is a honest, no frills, American pizza. The crust is a little thicker than other NY style pizzas I've had but was still overall thin and crispy and was not soggy at all from the toppings. There was a generous amount of cheese, sauce, and pepperoni, and each bite was flavorful. However, the pizza is also greasy and left me feeling heavy afterwards. Overall, this was a solid pizza despite the grease and felt worth it for the Monday special price. However, I would be hard pressed to order the pizza at their normal menu price ($20.30 for a large one topping pizza). read more

We ordered their Extra Large (XL) New York Special pizza at our neighborhood New York Pizzeria yesterday. (It was about $29, including tax) They have 10" Small, 12" Medium, 14" Large, and 16" extra large or deep dish options to choose from. I picked up my order about 15-20 minutes after I placed my order by phone. Their NY Special pizza was enormous. The XL 16" size was too big for 5 of us (including my daughter's friend who came over to our house). Anyhow, the NY special pizza had cheese, pepperoni, mushroom, green pepper, olives, onion, and sausages. The pizza was a bit too soggy, maybe they put too many toppings on it. They put in a generous amount of ingredients, though. We couldn't tear off each slice perfectly because it was soggy. The pizza dough was thick but a little burnt at the bottom. The taste was okay but a little greasy. I'm not a fan of green pepper and olives, so I probably won't order the NY Special pizza and not the XL next time. We still have a few pieces left over from yesterday. I would give them 3.5 stars and round it up to 4 stars. read more

What's with the reviews calling this pricey? I never tried the pizza, I personally prefer Curry Pizza from down the street on Lemon. But when you're at an Italian restaurant, try some of the less seen Italian stuff. I'm talking about the dinners, the lasagna, ravioli and manicotti. They come with a full garlic bread and a decent sized side salad with plenty of olives. I'm not a fan of vinegar usually, but I like the Italian dressing since the tartness offsets the rest of the meal. All for under $13. In 2025!! Plus, I'm a huge fan of them offering a tiny cup sizes for their drinks at a tad over $2, for those of us that want a bit of soda to wash down the food, but don't want a whole cup of diabetes to go along with that already carb heavy meal. I wish more restaurants do this. I wish boba places do this. Sure, the grandpa at the counter is a bit grumpy, but that goes along with the atmosphere. They won't be making rounds bothering you with, "Is the food okay?" for tips. You order, you sit down and eat. The only thing that I don't like is the salad that comes with the dinner isn't offered to-go, which I don't understand. Is an extra styrofoam container too much? Charge me 50 cents for it then. Been coming here since I was a small child. They added some new paint and new tables but it is the same place I remember. The employees are friendly, it is always packed (especially mondays when they run a special) but everyone is in a good mood and having fun. The food is delicious whether you get a sandwich, salad or pizza (you should try the New York Special). Parking is easy and so is finding a place to sit. read more

This place closed at 9:00pm. I arrive at 8:20pm with my family and asked for 5 drinks. The old man at the counter replied, "Are you going to leave in 20 minutes? We close at 9." I show him the clock on my phone which read 8:20pm and he says again, "yeah. If you leave in 20 minutes it's okay." If I wasn't with my family, who was also hungry, I would've left without the food. Secondly, the food was less than mediocre. The pizza is not New York style and it was about the same as Little Cesar's. The garlic bread was bland and the bread was stale. I think it was frozen and store bought, The hot wings were not spicy and also tasted frozen and store bought. My family and I left at 8:45 and the dining area was still 25% full. The pizza is not bad the problem with their pizza is way too much cheese and no sauce! They need to balance the two evenly. I purchased the thin crust pizza literally hardly and tomato sauce just dripping with cheese. I know people like cheesy pizza but not like that and hardly any tomato sauce. They need to change that and make the bread crust more airy and then it will be like real New York Pizza. By the way the pizza before like a few years ago was not like this. You can personalize your pizza however you want but I just love enjoying a ton of variety when it comes to vegetables. It brings out more flavor and to me, it tastes better that is why we decided on four toppings. But if you want you can order it with just one, two or three! It's up to you to decide what you want. Came back home and we killed it!! Literally ate every slice and the taste was not like anything I've had from places such as Dominos. It's a whole different type of league.
