My hair is both fine and thin, and I have a weirdly shaped head, and he gave me such a wonderful cut that is exactly what I wanted. The bleaching process could have been shorter with stronger bleach, but Jay didn't want to damage my fine hair, so he took his time with a softer bleach that takes longer, which I appreciated. He could've closed up shop much earlier, but he stuck it out with me from 2:30-8 pm! He was so patient and such an artist. 5.5 hours, 3 shades of blue, 1 purple, and 1 magenta later, this gorgeous multi-dimensional blue is what I got. He literally is the best stylist I've found. I've had my hair colored by an array of people, including my long time favorite go to stylist in Manhattan that I've been going to for 15 years, and Jay's skills put them to shame. Thank you Jay!!

The location I went to was in the heights and it was a very cute salon with parking in the front. Bunmi was so quick yet very thorough with the brazilian blowout. I bombarded her with so many hair care questions, which she answered so very passionately too. She explained all the processes and steps of what she was doing. Marlin always check to see if the temperature of the water was alright for us when we were shampooing too. They were both so very sweet. I'm so glad I found them on yelp! We both love our smooth, silky hair. Bunmi also follows up and sends you tips on how to care for your brazilian blowout when you get home, so that you get the most bang out of your buck.

I don't know about you all, but when it comes to my hair, it's not an expense, it's an investment…read more I mean, it is the crown you never take off after all. :) I have been blessed to have a sister who does hair while being in Hawaii. She knew me so well and of course always had my hair on point. Moving to Texas, I was so nervous about one of my investments that I never had to worry about before. I had to really take the time and research who seemed like a good fit for me and the look I tend to stay with. I was able to find Hintz of Color. I booked my appointment, and I am not going to lie, I was nervous as heck! I like her booking system, so easy to use. Deposit was put for my appointment. For those of you who complain about that, let me just say...appointments are their lively hood, their business, the feeding of their families. If you no show or cancel last minute, the stylist could of had someone else in that spot, potentially losing 100's of $$ at no fault of theirs. So, be courteous and respect this. As a patron, it's important to also think of businesses as if they were your own. Now, enough about that little rant of mine lol So Bunmi's salon is actually far from me. I drive 40 minutes, but remember, investment! :) The salon is upstairs in a shopping center on Bellaire Ave. It is located in the "Phenix Salon Suites." She has her own room and the vibe is there! Ok, so what the room is nice...? We'll, she got the personality and skills to back it up! She was amazing at my first appointment. Made me feel so at ease. She listened as I explained what I wanted and tend to do. She was honest, respectful, and most importantly down to earth! My hair turnout, AMAZING! She achieves the look while keeping my hair healthy! I was so thankful and blessed to meet Bunmi. She is my sister here in the HTX! I highly recommend her and can't say enough positive things about her and her work! I look forward to my hair sessions each time. I'll keep posting pics of all my hair shenanagins she is always down for! The pics speak for themselves. :)

My Experience * I…read morewas a client for approximately six months. * First appointment: * My appointment was changed either the day before or the day of, and I was asked to come in an hour earlier. * I had already explained that I work full-time, am not located nearby, and taking time off is difficult. * If a stylist is unavailable, that appointment time should not be offered for online booking. * My service was adequate. I received a root touch-up and requested a blowout and the stylist used no styling products. My hair is very fine and actually benefits from the appropriate products, but I paid and left. * Subsequent appointments with a different stylist: * My first appointment with her was excellent. She was professional, explained the coloring process, discussed color options, and styled my hair beautifully. Based on that experience, I continued booking with her. * During later appointments: * Hair color was repeatedly left around my hairline and face. * I specifically asked her to thoroughly wash the center of my scalp because color tends to linger there, but it was not properly cleaned. * She soaked my shirt while washing my hair. * I later scheduled a Brazilian Blowout. * Before starting, I specifically asked whether the treatment was appropriate for my very fine hair and explained my concerns about frizz. * She assured me it was safe and recommended it. * During the appointment, I discovered it was her first time ever performing a Brazilian Blowout. * By then, the product had already been applied, so I felt I had no choice but to continue. * The treatment severely damaged my hair. * I had an event that evening, and my hair was left extremely flat and lifeless. I was embarrassed. * She attempted to curl it afterward, but the damage had already been done. * In the weeks that followed, my hair continued breaking and falling out. * I returned one final time because I urgently needed my roots touched up and hadn't found another stylist. * She applied the color with such a heavy hand that the brush repeatedly jabbed my scalp. * I asked if she had a softer brush because the application was painful. * She eased up briefly but quickly returned to the same rough technique. * I left with wet hair because I no longer felt it was worth paying for a blowout or styling that I wasn't happy with. I consistently achieved better results styling my own hair at home. * Final experience: * My last appointment was switched to another stylist again, and that was the point I decided not to return. Overall Feedback * Your salon charges premium prices, and clients trust that they are receiving services from experienced, qualified professionals. * We rely on a stylist's expertise and recommendations, especially when it comes to chemical treatments that can permanently damage our hair. * Allowing an inexperienced stylist to perform a Brazilian Blowout for the first time on a paying client--without disclosing that beforehand--is unacceptable. * As the salon owner, there is a responsibility to ensure stylists are properly trained, supervised, and capable of consistently delivering quality work. * Paying anywhere from $120 to $400 for hair services should come with professionalism, technical skill, and quality results. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

So i said, ok let's try this, and she hurried off to mix chemicals. Star #4. Excuse me for getting the last two out of order. The price for a cut and color was under &100!!! Perfect place for a quick and quality cut!…read more I called ahead of time to see if they had an open appointment for a haircut and luckily they squeezed me in. It took me two calls to get an answer because I think the business number listed is Vickie's personal number, so it is a busy line. I'm so glad I called them back and was able to come in because the service was awesome! I asked for blended layers with face framing bangs and a v shape initially. My hairdresser, Vickie, advised me to do a U shape instead because my hair is thin and a U shape would make my hair look more full. Vickie was so nice and she washed, cut, and blew out my hair for only $35 (before tip). Not only was it affordable, she also had me in and out of the salon in 35 minutes. I even asked her to curl my bangs a bit more like the reference photo and she was happy to do so. Though the service was fast I never felt rushed and she gave me exactly what I wanted. The salon itself was a bit hard to find just because there is construction going on but with some help from their neighboring businesses I was able to find it. It is also no frills, like a typical older Asian salon, but don't let the looks of it fool you. I will definitely be coming back!
