I just picked up a gun here that I had ordered online. The process was able to be completed on my 30 minute lunch break, so needless to say, it was super fast. My background check was instantly approved, which only happens if your record is good to go. As previous reviews have stated , you can't blame a business on how long your background check takes. This place is a family run business. I've had negative experiences with local gun shops in the past. Everyone inside was very nice, personable, and knowledgeable. I only bought a stock that was generously marked down in price because it was lightly used. The bearded gentleman put it on one of their rifles so I could test it out before buying it and was able to tell me everything about it. The young lady behind the counter was very pleasant and knowledgeable about handguns. If you're a first time gun buyer and are female, she would be great to talk to about the different options. I have not had any transfers with them or used this business for any gunsmithing, I would probably guess that they're good on that end too. One critique is their inventory. They still have cool stuff and lots of extra gear. But everyone is hurting with inventory these days so you can't knock them for that. read more

I have not met a more surly bunch of unhelpful people. They clearly did not want my business. Shelves were empty like they are going out of business. Owners Will & Karma are extremely knowledgable and friendly. If you're are looking to purchase a firearm, take a concealed carry class or just have questions you need answered reference firearms or firearm accessories stop in and say hi. They will not give you a line of BS , they will be straight forward and to the point! I'm a retired LEO of 25+ years of service who recently took Will's concealed carry class with my wife. He's extremely knowledgeable and keeps the class interesting. I spent 1,000's of hours during my LEO career attending and instructing classes. Will is a top notch instructor. As a first time gun owner, I find this shop a great resource in Bend. Disclaimer, I did not buy my firearm from there. However, I have been in a few times for accessories. The biggest purchase from them was a set of truglo sights. Will, the owner and gunsmith, installed them. The price was very reasonable and the turnaround was same day. Will is a treasure trove of knowledge and doesn't talk down to me due to my inexperience unlike some larger stores. Prices across the store seem reasonable too. Great selection of guns and accessories and an onsite gunsmith make this shop my go to. I'm told they offer gun classes as well. I can't wait to jump in on a few when they start back up again. Stopped by two days in a row because of how amazed I was by the service I received. Will and his wife were very knowledgeable and he commended my knowledge of correct terminology used in the gun world. Everyone there was super friendly. I didn't catch the name of the other gentleman that helped me as well, but he was very solid for 5 or 6 days on the job! I would absolutely make this my resident gun shop if I could. Please use extreme caution if purchasing a new firearm from this company in 2023. Double Tap Firearms sales rep lead you to believe that with your new CHL they can call Oregon State Police to stay on the phone to get your background check handled quickly. They misled my husband and had him purchase the new firearm so they can start his background check with OSP. Again the point here is they mislead him into believing he won't have to wait too long for his background check to clear since he has his new CHL. Received call from them few hours later that his background check with OSP has been delayed. The sales rep informed him that since his background check has been delayed not denied by OSP that their company policy won't allow them to hold his new firearm while he waits. So their company policy is to charge him their restocking fee of 20%. In our opinion they lied and it cost $71 to just walk into their store. Will never go back into this company again and want to warn people to beware of doing business with them on firearm purchases. We just want to be treated honestly. Please note that we walked into another local firearm company in town and they started the background check and was told immediately that he's in OSP queue - not delayed! Great news he didn't even have to purchase the firearm to start the background check. Karma responded with a dishonest comment regarding our review of the situation. I didn't think I would find a shop in Bend that was professional, friendly and had a great selection of firearms, until I found Double Tap! Will is one of the best and most knowledgeable guys around. Whether you are looking for a simple revolver or hand gun or a custom one off AR, they have you covered. This store is definitely a one stop shop. Every time I stop in there is something new. I've been here a couple times over the years I've been in Bend. They've handled two or three transfers for me, including one in-store purchase. My experience with this place has been pretty decent. If you're a quiet person like I am, don't expect anyone to go out of their way to engage with you. They seem to operate on "bar rules," where the people with the most eye contact (or the people who know the bartender) get served first. This isn't a knock, per se, just a heads-up for the more introverted gun enthusiasts out there... and hopefully a little bit of feedback to the owners, who seem active on this page. The shop's been hustling and bustling every time I've been in there, with a rotating group of people who all seem to know each other and deal with each other first. I'm sure it's great if you're a "regular," but for everyone else, it can be less-great. When you do eventually get the attention of the counter, service is great! Great store with great staff. These are gun guys with lots of knowledge and experience. They have a great stock and can get most things pretty quick. They only stock and sell what they would use which is a good indicator of the integrity they hold in the business. Will is also a gunsmith and very passionate about making everything perfect and will take better care of your gun than his own. Their prices are reasonable and they just seem to get it. This is the best firearms store in central Oregon by far. The owners of the store are very knowledgeable and only carry high quality firearms. With well over 20 years of experience as not only a Gunsmith but also as an LEO I know I can trust the information given to me. I felt no pressure to buy any items from the store. I've bought a number of products from Double Tap firearms and I have always had a pleasant experience. Double Tap Firearms only sells quality products and they only produce quality work. I would recommend double tap to any level of firearms enthusiast. Double tap firearms also puts on a conceal carry class once a month for $45. The class gives you a lot of really good information on what local laws are. The owners have a good way of putting in perspective the seriousness of carrying a firearm everyday. Not exactly sure where to begin. I ordered a Springfield XDs magazine from Double Tap on Nov. 12 and was told I "missed a call" from them on the 21st. I showed my call logs and the owner backtracked saying he meant the 23rd. Again, I reviewed my 2 missed calls from that day and neither were him. As I asked for my magazine so I could please leave, he tried charging me 37.99 again for the same product. I explained that I had already paid my bill and he persisted I pay before I leave. Another employee from the back confirmed that I did indeed pay my bill the day I came in. I thought great, we can leave it at this and I can leave, but he started yelling across the store at me that I'm an asshole and a "God." I explained that I'm just an average Joe and not his savior Christ. He apologized that he made a mistake and again said he wasn't God, which I already somehow knew. I created this app to explain the owner is a pretentious asshole that made the other costumer is the store feel out of place. Own up to your mistakes, shit happens old man. read more
