As a dog friendly facility, and we have been to many many in our almost 11 years of traveling with our dog, it had minor challenges. There are no pet relief areas very close by for the early morning or before bed time trips. And since the only area to dine is outside in a very narrow patio, our 60 pound guy was a challenge for wait staff. Our morning and evening dining was in cooler weather and there are no heaters, so it was not the most comfortable but manageable. The waitstaff was amazing, giving our guy lots of love and pets. If we were to travel here again without a dog, we would definitely stay here.

After paying a small fortune for the room, the manager refused to give us free breakfast, that all the other guest enjoyed. On the First night, I slipped in the shower/bath tub because these morons forgot to install grab bars on the wall inside the shower/tub unit. This is a major safety issue for someone 74 years old; we could not shower for the remaining nights during the stay. On the day of our anniversary, I was attacked in the lobby of this sick hotel, by one of their violent guests, directly in front of the hotel receptionist. When I requested that they call the police (RCMP), they refused and did nothing. In all my years as a professional safety engineer, I have never seen such a worn out, dangerous, and useless accommodation. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. BTW, there are several other significant hotels at the waterfront in North Vancouver, we will choose one of them next trip.

Aside from that, you're literally atop the Seabus terminal so you can get to downtown directly and quickly along with the pleasant ride that comes with it. Aside from the pluses above, I believe most or even all of the rooms have a view of the water - and if you're near the back you overlook downtown as well. The rooms themselves are nothing special and don't stand out at all, but they're serviceable. Contrary to what some reviews say, there is in fact a fitness room here, but it is small. It does have a small restaurant and I'd recommend looking into the packages which include breakfast and even 2-1 passes with local attractions as you'll save if you're travelling with at least another person. There's an argument given the prime location of this place that a really nice hotel could open up here and thrive. But as long as the Quay hotel sits here, don't expect much of a fancy stay - you do at least benefit from much better location, convenience and views than comparable 3 star hotels.

Was advised he couldn't do anything because he's not the owner. We slept in the car as a result and have been on the phone with credit card company to help resolve. It had taken many hours on the phone between the credit card company and the hotel vendor with no immediate resolution. The credit card company informed the hotel vendor (SureStay) would not provide a refund, although they provided uninhabitable conditions. We are running on zero sleep and all our plans have been destroyed.

Crystal's BnB is impeccably maintained as is the inside of each room of their house. I provide the recipe and he says let give it a go. According to my resident expert, it came out good! There is what made this visit stand out. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. Virginia's breakfast was all the better by Brian's entertaining stories of 5 years in the service business now.

Our room was big and comfy with a remote control fireplace that adds real heat into the room and a large old school bathtub. Big enough for two.... Breakfast was delicious! Three courses, one of the fanciest I've had and the daytime butler service around breakfast time was a real treat. Fantastic time! I highly recommend the Thistledown house.
