Hard working, friendly staff that keep a clean open kitchen & dining room. I usually go after the lunch hour rush between 1-3pm and get the lunch special with a Supreme slice. I am a big fan; they combine quality New York-style pizza with solid pricing and excellent customer service. I appreciated their kindness on my first two trips to this restaurant. The staff was friendly, patient, and hospitable. It's a positive, not transactional, environment. Brooke was behind the counter on one of the visits, and she could not have been nicer or more professional. She allowed me to watch a big league playoff game on one of their screens. I also enjoyed how they cut their huge pizza slices up for consumption, making it easier to pick them up and enjoy. The new location of Dough Co Pizza in Ankeny is clean and quaint. If your eating in you can park in the front or out back they have doors on both sides! Walkup up the counter and order from the menu, grab a drink and a number then go sit and wait (not a long wait either). There is not a ton of seating in house - I am guessing about 25 seats at various sized tables and another 10 at a bar. A couple of TVs if you want to watch something on TV. Most of the seating provide a clear view of the food prep and cooking area. So you can see your meal being created! We have had the bread sticks, meatballs and a few of the pizzas. The New York style crust is awesome. There was an error in our toppings so they gave us the pizza free and made us a new one. We weren't expecting that, but I really appreciated the manager and how he didn't miss a beat when taking care of us! KUDOS! read more

Great business! They are very quick for ordering out. If you are dining in expect a 30 minute wait for your pizza. 15-20 for ordering out. The pizza is great quality. Hand tossed dough. Would rate the pizza an 8.7. Tons of flavor. Only downfall is the dough can get dry if cooked too long. Great setting indoors which makes for a fun night dining in or ordering out. Went on a weekday at around 1:00pm. There was only a single diner and a group of 4-5 people in the restaurant when we arrived, already eating. Girl at the register was not knowledgable about the menu, and asked us several questions about the ingredients already listed in the description of the menu items. Ordered a salad and a Cuban sandwich. Guy in the kitchen only had our order to prepare, but still took almost 30 minutes to serve a sandwich that only has to go in the oven long enough to heat through and melt the cheese. Then when I did finally get it, the meat on the sandwich was refrigerator-cold in the middle, hunks of pickle spears just falling out of the sandwich everywhere, and missing the mustard. Had an appointment and no time to remake or even eat my cold sandwich at that point. Not at all impressed with this place. read more

This is great if you like the NY style floppy pizza. Great quality fresh ingredients and priced well. The only item I wouldn't recommend is the Cuban sandwich. Not sure what that bread is but it's so far from a traditional Cuban that if you're expecting something more authentic then you'll be disappointed. Fantastic New York crust. We had the Margaret and added pepperoni to half. That addition made the difference. Ordered the "Breadstick Bites " and was surprised by the huge 1/2 pizza size bread that came out. It was all super hot and tasty. The "sauce" is a simple tomato and it was amazing! 99% of the negative reviews have zero to do with food. Their pizza is legit (I used to live in NJ/NY). Most iowans wouldn't know good pizza and think gas station pizza is gourmet As for service,good pizza takes time. And I've never had anything but outstanding service. Pizza is great. The posted hours for this restaurant on a Saturday are 11am - 9 pm. When reached out to at 7:30 pm to place an order the waitress promptly replied "they were closed" with no explanation on a Saturday and then hung up the phone. Although the pizza was decent tasting it was overshadowed by several issues that we noticed while waiting for our order. The staff was not keeping up on the cleanliness of the restaurant, very disappointing to see. Secondly, the chef which was wearing rubber glove's to prevent cross-contamination was utilizing his gloved hands to feed himself Doritos from the chip been near his work station. We witnessed him touching his mouth several times without replacing his gloves. Lastly, a gentlemen who appeared to be the manager came in from sitting on the patio with his family and immediately went behind the counter to assist without washing his hands, although he did put gloves on...this is still a violation of cross-contamination protocol. So many people just standing around waiting for their pizza and asking workers what was going on. Which the workers seemed just as confused and disorganized. Dine in was great last time we went. This time we did carry out and they shorted us a pizza. Upon calling to let them know, nobody apologized. They simply asked if we wanted that pizza voided or if we wanted to drive all the way across town to pick it up. Unfortunately we tipped on the missing pizza.
