The new location of Dough Co Pizza in Ankeny is clean and quaint. If your eating in you can park in the front or out back they have doors on both sides! Walkup up the counter and order from the menu, grab a drink and a number then go sit and wait (not a long wait either). There is not a ton of seating in house - I am guessing about 25 seats at various sized tables and another 10 at a bar. A couple of TVs if you want to watch something on TV. Most of the seating provide a clear view of the food prep and cooking area. So you can see your meal being created! We have had the bread sticks, meatballs and a few of the pizzas. The New York style crust is awesome. There was an error in our toppings so they gave us the pizza free and made us a new one. We weren't expecting that, but I really appreciated the manager and how he didn't miss a beat when taking care of us! KUDOS!

They have good puzza but the lady up front didn't give me a number Gaggahshsjsjshshshshhsjsksksjsjshajnsjsjsjskskksjd

The food was worth the wait! We ordered the Italian pizza, and it didn't disappoint. The service was friendly and down-to-earth, and the atmosphere was inviting!

    Breadstick 'bites'

Fantastic New York crust. We had the Margaret and added pepperoni to half. That addition made the difference. Ordered the "Breadstick Bites " and was surprised by the huge 1/2 pizza size bread that came out. It was all super hot and tasty. The "sauce" is a simple tomato and it was amazing! We will be back.

The pizza is amazing. They also have salads that are just as good! We highly recommend. The Ankeny location is very convenient for us.

I also enjoyed how they cut their huge pizza slices up for consumption, making it easier to pick them up and enjoy.

The food outshined the service!…read more Ambiance: 4 stars Food: 5 stars Service: 2 stars Well, I came here with a friend for lunch. He loves the place and said the Gyros are fantastic. So I went with his recommendation. First impressions: The place is small and nicely located in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. They have adequate seating and were only slightly busy when we arrived (I would say it was at half capacity the entire time we were there) We stood at the reception location for a while before we were 'greeted' and finally seated. We sat for quite a while before the guy with the headset to came back to take our orders. This was the weird part - he was fine, but he spoke so quietly we were not sure he was addressing us or talking to someone in his headset. Eventually we got our orders in, and we again waited. Some time later the water showed up, then after another pause the drinks we ordered were delivered, and sometime later the food showed up. He even remembered the dipping sauce which I thought I was going to have to ask for. We ate our entire meals without once being asked how things were, and eventually after the food was all gone, he came back to unceremoniously plop the bill on the table, and after another extended period he came back to process the payment. All-in-all the interaction with this guy was 'just weird'. (It was suggested that he might be the son of the owner...) He was doing his job but there was absolutely not any extra effort put in to make us feel welcome, and the total lack any real interaction was off-putting. The overall appearance of the place was nice and appeared clean, the decor was fresh and classy. However the bar area around the kitchen was very cluttered and looked like it was being used for overflow storage and it was a bit chaotic and had lots of clutter. Please forgive the fact that I forgot to take pictures of the delicious food. I got into conversation with my friend and just forgot! It was a very well made traditional Gyro with generous portions of meat, fresh hummus and a perfect portion of super fresh tzatziki sauce. I ordered fresh jalapeños and they got that right too! The side of fries were delicious as well, seasoned perfectly, crispy and fresh, and the garlic sauce...well did not lack for garlic! Wowza!! Overall I do recommend this place for the food! I will most likely return and I hope that the service will be a little better next time around.

Still, it was nothing that would ever draw me back given the discomfort we three felt from the waiter. Sorry, we were hoping to find a gem. We only found a dour place to eat and drop $45 for three meals.

There was a small but steady crowd throughout the night and we had top- notch service from our server- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive in the 'just right way' - carefully observing drinks and not interrupting date night more than necessary. A variety of local And other craft beers were featured although surprisingly not any from Firetrucker next door! The holiday decor was still up but even without it has a warm feel- love the various table sizes and heights and the long bar with a pretty decent offering for cocktails. While there, the bartender was experimenting with drinks and having fun. After recommendations I ordered the French dip which was phenomenal! Homemade bread, warm, generous meat and peppers and grilled onions, flavorful dip . I will say if I ordered again I would ask to have the sauce left off as I am not a fan of horseradish sauce. Still, it was tasty! Side salad as option was super fresh with mixed greens and the house creamy Italian was bursting with herby flavor. my husband had the tenderloin and while delicious- it was 'bougie' and not the traditional Midwest. It was generous and interesting as a dinner option. Would certainly return as the patio is inviting (just not in January)!'

Between us we had cheese toastie, prime rib dip, and a Reuben sandwiches. The meat on both the prime rib and Reuben was succulent and tender, and none of us could finish them. The house curly fries were perfectly seasoned and delish. The rest of the menu looks great, and I hope to be back next time I'm in town. Huge bar, but not a ton of seating. Large parking lot. There is no area to wait and there will be a wait if you don't have a reservation. We waited about 25 minutes for a table without a reservation. Clean bathrooms. Service: Super friendly staff that were rolling with the punches as it was absolutely packed. Food: OH MY GOD. So good, so so soooooo good. The food here honestly reminded me of my time in Ireland, this is the closet I've got to that level of amazingness without actually being there. Even the brown bread reminded me of many meals in County Clare. I forgot to take a photo of the corned beef and cabbage and potatoes but I will never forget them. Perfectly tender, and seasoned. I will dream about this place and hope that some day I end up back in Iowa.

There were about 30 people in our group . They had already ordered the table appetizers before I arrived consisting of The Deviled Eggs with bacon, Artichoke Spinach dip and Crab Rangoon dip. All were delicious even though a bit cold from sitting for a while before they got passed around. We had 2 servers that I didn't get names but both were very attentive and managed the group very well . Everyone's orders were taken efficiently, I got the Frutti Di Mare in a white sauce with the seafood bisque soup. The entire dish was delicious with the exception of the bread, it was rock hard, but I didn't need it anyway . The bisque soup came out too cool for my liking but the waitress had a new bowl served at the right temp and it was perfect. I would eat a whole vat of that. The meal was great, shrimp perfectly prepared and fresh and snappy, plenty of mussels and a large portion providing a take home amount that served as dinner the next night too. I also indulged in a key lime pie because if rave reviews. I was not disappointed. Overall the place is elegant and classy enough for a suit and tie but still casual enough for shorts and flip flops. It will make for a nice date spot for an anniversary dinner. By the way this review was not written or touched by AI.
