    Combo Deep Dish Pizza
    Kelli R.

Pizza was delicious. I prefer thin crust but for a little something different sometimes, this hits the spot. One piece is enough for a meal so expect leftovers. We did the combination and it was a perfect balance of meats and vegetables. Service was ok. We had to flag down someone to take our order and then she forgot to put it in. An hour later she checked on us again and realized her mistake. A quick rush on our pizza and we were treated to a nice perfectly crisp crust. This is a sports bar type place that would also be good for families.

Over priced $7 piece of key lime cheesecake

There are places we go when we are just in the mood for something we know. Tonight was spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and a salad. Don't forget the creamy Parmesan dressing. Consistency is what is expected and a bowl of comfort is exactly what we had. But let's talk about the to-go Key Lime Cheesecake...over priced! A dollar a bite. Disappointment. One star dropped off as I looked for another bite! Never again.

This place is extremely wonderful. It offers some great Chicago style deep dish pizza and good service. There is a massive parking lot right outside the restaurant which makes it super convenient. Overall I would highly recommend visiting this place if you want to enjoy Chicago deep dish pizza.

Both of my youngest kids are at camp. Kind of missing them...and sometimes you just have to suck it up and say f-it. One large pepperoni and mushroom cheese topper pizza please. Comfort food! My Doordasher was a rock star! And I don't say that lightly. The pizza was still steaming. I love this pizza... And I haven't had it for quite a while. It hasn't changed. "Life moves pretty fast. We travel to eat, and one of the things I love is an Italian beef sandwich. I had been missing the ones I used to get in Chicago, and had tried a few in Des Moines, but was disappointed. Tonight, we hit Felix and Oscars, because he wanted Italian, and most Italian restaurants were closed on Monday night, and I'm so glad we did. That Italian beef dip was even better than Buono! And the onion tanglers were sooo good. He had chicken Alfredo, and barely spoke. We walked in at 4pm to a cool, quiet, clean dining room. Service was stellar, and the food came out hot and fresh. We will be back.

We stopped here based on a recommendation from new friends who tried it over 20 years ago and loved it. We started with the Oscar Fries (see picture), as we were hungry and ready to start eating. They were delicious! We weren't sure about the red onion toppings, but ended up really liking the combination. Our friends recommended the deep dish pizza, so based on our server's suggestion, we went with the Combo (see pictures) and really enjoyed it. I would describe the crust as more along the lines of Bisquick pizza crusts I've made in the past (as opposed to more like bread), but it was really good. As a bonus they had a pretty good selection of tap beers (see picture) - and we sampled several. This was the second time we were served by the same waitress, and her behavior was just as unacceptable as before. She slammed dishes onto the table, rolled her eyes, gave us dirty looks, and treated us as though we were an inconvenience. She showed absolutely no warmth, professionalism, or basic courtesy. What made this especially upsetting was that we had brought family visiting from Arizona to one of our longtime favorite casual restaurants. They were shocked by how rude and unwelcoming the service was. We actually left shortly after she approached our table for the third time because the experience had become so uncomfortable. No one should feel unwelcome while dining out. We used to eat at Truman's at least once a week and genuinely enjoyed it. Unfortunately, one employee has completely changed our opinion of the restaurant. If management addresses this issue, we would consider returning. Until then, we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Luckily for us, this time it showed up fresh and hot! This review focuses on Truman's food quality, as experienced through a delivery order. My wife Kim is a pizza fanatic, so we're always trying new spots! She ordered a garlic cheese bread which was fantastic and came delivered with dipping sauce. This could easily serve as a meal on its own! The main event was the Mahome's pizza. It was a bit messy - with random chunks of topping not evenly distributed and obviously just thrown together (this wasn't a delivery issue, but how it was prepared by Truman's). Regardless, as this is a minor complaint, the pizza was delicious. I enjoyed all of the toppings with the exception of the hamburger; it was just unspiced, browned hamburger. I find it odd to put something with no flavor on a pizza. The pizza sauce saved the day as it's amazing and has a ton of flavor. Then there was the crust - it was thin, but not too thin. It had those cool bubbles and somehow managed to be perfectly chewy and crispy at the same time! (Sounds impossible, but it really was). While I'll definitely prefer to go and eat at Truman's in person next time, the delivery itself was surprisingly good considering the distance they had to travel. I hope Kim tipped well! We look forward to visiting the restaurant in person soon!

Lol I took at look at their menu online and it's not a big menu... Build your own 7-Stone crust (thick) and artisan crust (thin) along with six different specialty pizzas. Big into appetizers? Don't plan on it here. They have cheesebread and side salads. They offer a couple different items for lunch specials (Wednesday - Friday 11am to 2pm)...toasted hoagies and a half pizza combo. It's order and pay at the counter. Pepsi self serve fountain drinks. Plates, utensils, napkins, and pizza spatulas are beside the fountain drink station. Parmesan and red pepper are on the tables. Seat yourself. The seating is a combination of booths and low top tables and chairs. There's a small counter with seating as well. The business itself is in a strip so there is lots of parking available. There was one gal behind the counter taking orders as well as cooking and serving pizzas. Two younger ladies came in a bit later, but it was hard to tell if they were actual staff or daughters there to hang out with their mom (or maybe both). Staff was friendly enough. Our party ordered: 1x large House7 on 7-Stone crust 1x large buffalo chicken on artisan crust 2x small pepperoni pizzas on artisan crust 1x large cheesebread 1x side salad 7x fountain drinks It was a short wait for everything to get cooked and served. The thicker 7 Stone crust takes about 20 min. The artisan...probably half that. The 7 Stone crust vaguely reminds me of when Pizza Hut still cooked in cast iron. The toasted crust with cheese burnt like little vertical stalagmite (that's the cave formations that form from the floor up)... That was something neat to see. I haven't had a crust like that in a long time. The artisan crust is thinner of course, but perfect for folding. You like a little char? This gives you that in some bubbling aound the edges, but the bottom of the pizza crust is not burnt. I really enjoyed the buffalo chicken pizza! I'm not sure what it was but for me there was something off about the red sauce... It wasn't "bad" but just tasted off. At first I thought it might be a residual taste from the black olives from the House7, but the red sauce on the pepperoni pizzas had the same taste. Maybe it was the plum tomatos they use v. roma or another more traditional variety? Bang for the buck... To me it seemed a little pricey. $22 for a small cheese pizza on 7-Stone. $20 for a small cheese on artisan. $33 for a large specialty on 7-Stone. $31 for a large speciality pizza on artisan. But that might just be me... The company was buying for the two of us today so... The cost is sort of irrelevant outside of mentioning the noted pricing in general. When the company is buying I really don't care. But I'm kind of glad they were paying for it... Lol But no one walked away hungry that's for sure...! And the leftovers I took home will get eaten as long as it warms up anywhere near the same (follow up edit: it did). This is a tough one for me... It's kind of like Gusto. I had a ton of friends who loved the place. I just never cared for it. And there was no particular reason... Is this some place I would return to? Maybe if invited again... But while it's not exactly my favorite... You might love it! Definitely worth checking out! https://www.7stonepizzeria.com/

We learned that from the day before, when the front lady completely seemed to ignore us. Anyway, our food was very good, and the restaurant has a very classy, rich vibe. I got the gnocchi, but I feel like the grated cheese on top didn't really go with the pasta. Other than that, it was good, but it's just not really my type. I'd probably skip this one. Since I didn't eat much of it, I got the kids' Alfredo pasta. WOW. Chef's kiss! That was the best Alfredo I've ever had. So cheesy and saucy--definitely a MUST. The complimentary bread was also very good, but the texture made it seem like it definitely wasn't fresh. It tasted a little old, but I still ate it . We were given a complimentary bread which is not pictured in my photos. For the most part the bread was already warm and not freshly made. It didn't come with butter but olive, cheese and chili flakes were provided at the table. That bread was a 2/5 given the texture and flavor. Even the way it might've been cooked could improve. The Zelda alcoholic drink was sweet and tangy. I'd recommend it if you're up for it. Bruschetta appetizer kind of disappointed us. Bread was a little overcooked and didn't have much flavor. It came with the cheese, tomatoes and onions. I'd say try a different appetizer instead. Entrees were hot when they came out. Chicken saltimbocca could be best described as rich in flavor. Had a savory chicken and a strong white wine taste to it. The fettuccine Alfredo was cheesy. Ricotta gnocchi had a strong tomato flavor to it. I enjoyed the added cheese to the gnocchi. This was cooked very well and the portion size was big I couldn't finish it. Lastly, The dessert hazelnut brownie tiramisu was cold when served. Easy to put the spoon into. Strong hazelnut flavor and great mascarpone. The bottom half has the brownie part to it. It did have some nuts at the top. The server checked on us enough but not to the point where it was overwhelming. Again they could improve on their beginner bread and bruschetta bread.
