Grimaldi's is a great addition to the Ankeny pizza scene. I've been to the original location in Brooklyn and I actually like the setup and feel of this location better. The decor is fantastic and the music is Rat Pack-esque, which I love. It's decorated modestly with scenes from New York, which I think is fantastic as they look like real photos and not generics. The service was good - not as crazy as the original location and I didn't wait in line for well over an hour to eat here. Our server was the bartender. I did a 12 inch pepperoni and hot honey and my husband ordered the 16 inch Brooklen, which was red peppers, sausage and maybe something else. It was perfectly crispy where it should be and chewy as coal fired pizza generally is. I really enjoyed our dining experience as we went when it wasn't busy. People will complain about prices here, but I think the high quality food and dining experience make it worth while. My only disappointment was there were No Real Housewives of wherever dining while we were there as there was when we were in Brooklyn.

YESSSS!!! Grimaldi's!!!!! In Ankeny, Iowa of all places!!!! We were in town visiting friends who live in Johnston and could not contain our enthusiasm after finding out that there was a Grimaldi's in nearby Ankeny. We have been HUGE fans of Grimaldi's for almost a decade. We first learned of/experienced the deliciousness that is Grimaldi's at their location in El Segundo, CA. We would frequent that location often, but sadly none of the ones in Colorado have survived the test of time. We now live further away from El Segundo and don't make it back to that location as often as we would like. All that being (boringly) said lol...this location in Ankeny is just as good as any other location we have been to and remember so fondly. The staff was very friendly, the ambiance amazing as always (thanks Frank S.), and the food delicious!! We had the bruschetta trio and two large pizzas - one pepperoni and one 1/2 pepp 1/2 margarita, with sides of jalapeños and hot honey. The bruschetta was good, but not omg good. Quick tip - if you sign up for their rewards program before you go you score a free appetizer! The pizza however, was once again the star of the show! Incredibly good! Just the right amount of toppings, everything was so fresh. Just the way we remember it being! Without a doubt we will be back every chance we get when visiting our friends. We do have one small request tho...this location does not offer the lunch special that most other locations do...we politefully ask that they please reconsider ;)

We've had Grimaldi's before in Phoenix when we lived there, so we were so excited one of our faves was opening up in The District at Prairie Trail. We went on a busy Friday evening and there was a large party in the back dining room- their back up with the party made everything we ordered not come out in a timely manner (as we were told by our server) so the timing of our appetizers came at the same time as our pizza did. The food was just as great as we'd remembered it being! A lovely atmosphere, although it is a bit pricier than most pizza places in the metro which is going to be a shock for most. They have some pre made specialty pizzas where the toppings are already pre determined. Otherwise you build your own and toppings are around $4/each. We enjoyed our time and the food was excellent here!! Definitely recommend!

Came here on a Monday during lunch and had excellent service. Staff were really nice and efficient. The interior of the restaurant is large with plenty of seating. Pizza style is NY style with hand tossed thin/medium crust cooked via coal brick oven. Sizes vary from 12-18 inches. There are preset toppings on their most popular pizzas. You can add additonal toppings, which range from $3-6 a piece. Option for cauliflower and gluten-free crust available. Sign up for their loyalty card for some free apps.

I came here on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but they have plenty of tables inside and out. Inside, you can see them make and bake the pizzas which is cool. We tried "the don" and the pepperoni with hot honey (my usual pizza order anywhere). All their pizzas are New York style- big slices with thin crust. We enjoyed both. Our server was very friendly and quick to refill our drinks. Hope to come back!

    The large pizza is large!!!

Fun, we really like this place as it was more romantic them most pizza places. Wine to be had for any occasion. We order a specialty pizza and it was soon delivered and much larger than expected. We had a nice meal and good communication with my date. This worked perfect for what we needed.

Damn good pizza!! Family and I were looking for something different and kiddo recommended Grimaldi's Kids had the Caesar Salad, (I'm not a fan, but did taste it, holy buckets, good!!) Wife and I got the manhole cover sized Dom Pizza (seriously, it was huge) after a recommendation from staff. Thin crust, AMAZING flavor!! As a side show, you can see them toss pizza dough from the seats.... Pie-hole report: We will be back!!

If this was a straight crust competition this would be 5 stars. You need to like that slightly charred bottom crust and crisp edges. Stay away those of you that like pillowy pan pizza. The only reason this pizza drops one star is because the toppings just weren't that great. We ordered the don pizza and the 4 cheese pizza. The don pizza had an amazing crust but the meatballs were store bought warmed up frozen meatballs. They had that slight tinny aftertaste that frozen meats have. Crust was amazing, sauce was good just brought down from perfection by the subpar meatballs. The four cheese pizza was good but it was our mistake as we thought it would have tomato sauce but clearly states in the recipe it comes with white sauce. On its own it's too rich, suggest ordering some marinara to dip to cut through the richness. Very good pizza, order the cheese, margherita or build your own, but their meat pizzas have less than fresh ingredients.

Enjoy the dinner a lot, was just me and my spouse. I didn't give it five stars only cause they brought out my pizza before my salad. Salad should be first lol. They boxes the pizza for you when done. Did the same for dessert. I peered my pizza with some Peroni beer. I would say this is the best pizza in Ankeny.

We were just wandering about and saw the "coal brick oven" sign. Stopped in all we can say is "WOW". The service is great Lawson had answers and suggestions. Nice music in the background and most of all fabulous PIZZA!

There were about 30 people in our group . They had already ordered the table appetizers before I arrived consisting of The Deviled Eggs with bacon, Artichoke Spinach dip and Crab Rangoon dip. All were delicious even though a bit cold from sitting for a while before they got passed around. We had 2 servers that I didn't get names but both were very attentive and managed the group very well . Everyone's orders were taken efficiently, I got the Frutti Di Mare in a white sauce with the seafood bisque soup. The entire dish was delicious with the exception of the bread, it was rock hard, but I didn't need it anyway . The bisque soup came out too cool for my liking but the waitress had a new bowl served at the right temp and it was perfect. I would eat a whole vat of that. The meal was great, shrimp perfectly prepared and fresh and snappy, plenty of mussels and a large portion providing a take home amount that served as dinner the next night too. I also indulged in a key lime pie because if rave reviews. I was not disappointed. Overall the place is elegant and classy enough for a suit and tie but still casual enough for shorts and flip flops. It will make for a nice date spot for an anniversary dinner. By the way this review was not written or touched by AI.

Probably too big to do anything well. Service is was below par. I walked in said hi. This is my first time. What do you recommend. He just pointed at the pre-made pies. I hadn't really researched it…read moreother than knowing people said they did pizza by the slice and by looking at their menu online before we headed that way. Parking is great. It's in the same building as Filet Steakhouse. Down on the Southeast corner... It's not exactly what I expected. Don't expect the atmosphere of Baratta's, Latin King, or Cosi Cucina. The front dining area is more informal. Don't take that wrong though... I'm not taking anything away from it. The place has a great vibe to it and I felt comfortable. I loved the NYC themed decor and the look of the place. There is at least one more dining area called the Manhattan room. I'm not sure if this is a private room or what it exactly takes to get in there... It sure looked pretty classy through the doorway though! The process is more or less order at the front counter. Pay when you order. Seat yourself. Self serve drinks (Coke products). Silverware and napkins can be picked up by the drink station. While you order at the counter the food is brought to your table when it is ready. Seating is all low top tables and chairs along with a few stools at the bar. I noticed a few people picking up menus, going to a seat and browsing the menu and then going up to order. This is probably what I would do next time if I was ordering anything but the pizza by the slice. The service we had was really good. From the gentlemen at the front counter and register...along with the staff who were working the floor dropping off food and bussing tables. The menu is quite extensive! Everyone can find something. Appetizers, soup, salads, pizza by the slice, round pies, square pies, thin and crispy, gluten free... Calzones, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta dishes, chicken and shrimp entrees, salmon, desserts, and kids meals. While I do like pizza... And they have a HUGE selection of pies in all kinds of combinations...by the slice or baked fresh... We both tried pasta dishes. 1x Shrimp Parmigiana 1x Stuffed Shells sub alfredo 2x House salads (creamy parm and blue cheese) 2x Fountain drinks Complimentary bread with our entrees The wait for our food was short. Our salads came out first. Everything was fresh and tasted good. One thing... Some of the pieces of lettuce could have been chopped a smaller. Made it a little harder to manage than it should have been... Easy fix though... Make sure you grab a knife. I'm not sure if that's normal or if it was a one off. Not a big deal. The pasta dishes hit the table along with the complimentary bread... If you go here just for pizza by the slice... You're really missing out! Their pasta dishes would easily rival any of the places I listed above when I mentioned atmosphere. The portions are large. I had to do something that I don't normally do. I took some home for the next day. I'm usually the guy who gets irritated because someone writes... "I can easily make three meals out of what I was served...!" When I order the same thing where they are...and I clean my plate. Lol All in all a great meal and I think we spent in the mid-$60 range before tip. Definitely going to back to check out some of the other items on the menu... And the pizza! https://nonnaspizzapastas.com/
