I have been extremely impressed with Douglas Furniture. I recently bought this beautiful desk and chair from them. It took a little over a month to receive, as the brand (Hooker Furniture) only produces them in batches. Jeff very clearly described the process and helped set my expectations. They then called me to set up a delivery date as soon as they received the furniture, and it got delivered to me that week! The delivery experience was exceptional. (I recently also had deliveries from high-end brands such as Restoration Hardware and Fleming & Howland. Douglas Furniture provided the best experience hands down.) They made sure everything was to my liking and had me test out the furniture while they were here, they placed the furniture exactly where I wanted it, even put felt pads on the desk feet for me!! All while being very friendly and courteous. In addition, I found a slight issue a few days later and they actually called me to help me solve it. They already had the sale, they could have easily brushed me off at this point. But they continue to go above and beyond every single chance they got. Jeff was very cordial and helpful during the sale process for a custom couch and chair that had to be ordered from the factories in North Carolina. It took six months, from order to delivery - and I accept that as beyond the control of Douglas Furniture. The delivery crew was first rate. Credit where credit is due. Where Douglas failed miserably is in their after sale performance. Not once during the six months did Douglas contact us with a status or projected delivery date. When the furniture was delivered, it came with a receipt. No "care instructions" and since they're custom fabrics, we wanted to know how to deal with them. I called Douglas and the fellow who answered the phone acted like he had never heard of anyone caring about care instructions and he passed the phone to Jeff. I had to repeat the concern and Jeff said to use a "spot cleaner shampoo" - whatever that is, and that's all that the manufacturers say on this topic. His response was abrupt, not helpful and certainly disappointing for a high-end store. He just wanted me off the phone. I consider it very poor customer service - and they've lost me as a customer. I went to the Kinkaid website and the Lexington website and found the specific information I needed for the fabrics we had ordered, and it's not "spot cleaner shampoo." Wouldn't Jeff have known that? My family and I have exclusively shopped with Douglas for over 15 years and after our last purchase (still pending) I can confidently say we will never return. My father and I went in to purchase 2 large items back in August. Coming out of the pandemic, both of us were concerned about delivery time but when we asked outright what the turnover time was, we were told (confidently) "5 weeks." Seeing that we needed the item within 8 weeks, we decided to go through with the sale. It didn't take 5 or 8 weeks. We're in January (20+ weeks) and are still missing an item. When I would call for updates and state that I was upset at them not holding up their end of the bargain they insisted they never quoted 5 weeks. Well, my witness and I say otherwise. They never called with updates. I had to call multiple times and was talked down to, belittled and written off. When I emailed stating I wanted to cancel, I was told I couldn't. I find it interesting that when my husband called to talk, they answered all of his questions and called him back right away. Sexist? Maybe. I haven't been offered any discount, apology or acknowledgment of their mistake. Still waiting on that. As a long time customer of Douglas and supporter of small businesses, this makes me furious. I wish I read other reviews because it seems like in the last year, this attitude, gaslighting, and lack of customer service has become their new MO. Terrible customer service. We bought a very expensive hand crafted table that looked one way on the show room floor, and very different when we received it. The stain was very uneven and much darker than what we purchased. There are badly patched gauges. Douglas Furniture checked with their out of state manufacturer who said it was within their acceptance level. However, it looked nothing like the piece on their showroom floor; which was perfect. We bought it from Douglas, not their manufacturer. Although they say they are trying to help us, their actions show they just don't care. We spent $8000 on this set five years ago. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. No we don't have little kids chewing on the barstools. This is daily use of older kids and adults using it. You can see finish is coming off the table now since we just started using it. It's disgusting. We are going to have to refinish the entire thing and stupid me thought it was a good Investment for the next 20 years. They refused to replace it and blamed it on my kids. Do NOT buy from this store! We ordered 2 power recliners in May of 2021 in advance of a September hip replacement surgery. We were told they would take up to12 weeks to deliver which was within our timeframe. We did not receive them until November after a full recovery from the hip surgery. We never received a call to provide an update on delivery. I was talked down to when I called to complain. The power headrest stopped working after a month and they didn't want to pay $80 for gas to send someone out to fix it!! Horrible, horrible lack of customer service and they seriously do not care if you are unhappy. read more

When shopping for new furniture for our family room, we chose Douglas Furniture thinking it would be nice to shop local and not the chain furniture stores. I wish I would have read some of the reviews prior to our purchasing there. On June 1, 2021 we purchase and paid half as a deposit on a sofa and love seat, to be delivered with 20 -22 weeks. When calling to check on the order and not being able to provide us with a delivery date, I stated that I would probably then cancel the order. When offered a $500.00 discount to wait on receipt of the furniture, I agreed. Just received our furniture nine months later and while it was my mistake not to get the discount offered in writing, they had no record of any such offer made and of course would not offer it. Basically called a liar, I will admit, I was irate. I didn't make that up or pick that number out of a hat. Just make sure when ordering furniture that they will not stand behind a customer or offered made. Local family owned business will never see any more business from me. They had no problem collecting $2700.00 deposit from me and sitting on it for 9 months while waiting for furniture to arrive. read more

We searched throughout the SCV and SFV for a nice indoor bench to accommodate guests and a shoeless home. We ended up at Douglas an ordered a pricey small custom made bench. The order was placed on 6/24 and we were told that it would take 4-8 weeks. We were not informed that the manufacturer was located in Canada. By the 8th week, I called to check on the status. 1st, the commented was "oh the 6 th week". Nope! Long story and several phone calls later, we find out that the plant closed for 2 weeks in the summer. Then when it is finally completed, it can't be shipped until other projects are finished. ETA unknown! The store offered a temporary piece until our piece arrived but that was all that was offered. The bench came in on 9/18. No offer for a fiscal refund or gift certificate for future purchases. We do our best to support locally owned businesses but hope to be treated in kind. The store is expensive but the products are well designed and made. We had hoped to add pieces in the future but with seriously gray customer service , I may invest elsewhere. read more

Last year (June 2020) we ordered a large L Shaped couch. To make a long story short, they ordered the wrong couch, told us to keep it till the new one was ordered and delivered since my husband had just had knee surgery and we needed it. End of the year we still didn't have our couch and when we finally decided to complain and call our credit card company to reverse the charges Jeff called us to say the couch had arrived. At this point we were done and just wanted our money back which they refused. Instead I told him to call our credit card company and deal with them and he responded "enjoy the floor" and hung up on me. That's the customer service you get for their mistake. Sad. read more

Just an addendum to the two earlier reviews we posted on our drape selection and installations made under the supervision and guidance of the store's decorator. Once again a lovely person...BUT after one year, the drapes she suggested to us sag even more and fall to the flloor unevenly throughout the spanse of the drapery As a result of the bottom of the drapes resting on floor the folds of the drapes open up and are not uniform with one another....all this one year later..when we walk into this room we are reminded of a very unfortunate experience with Douglas Furniture.... read more

Hello! We wanted to support local, independent stores and bought a large, custom made leather couch from you 3 years ago. Unfortunately, the it turns out the leather that was used was a VERY cheap and thin bonded leather and has worn away so there are holes. We are surprised with the poor quality as the couch cost over $7000 and has holes in the cushion from normal sitting in only 3 years. Do you offer any repair? Thank you. read more

When they didn't have exactly what I wanted, Lenny helped me look through catalogs; giving me an idea of what my chairs would look like in different finishes. Doug has decades of experience with the manufacturers, and Erica is their interior designer. All my bases were covered. They were careful to caution me that ordering furniture can take up to 8-10 weeks to get. My chairs turned out perfect!! Even their delivery guys are caring! We purchased furniture and a rug from Douglas in April 2015 (now it's September). The rug wore extremely poorly so we contacted Travis at Douglas Furniture. He contacted the company - no hassle, no problems, no headaches - courteous, wonderful to deal with. Props to Douglas for replacing the rug immediately with a different carpet. And props for removing the rug from their inventory so that future buyers would not have a problem. Cannot recommend the company highly enough. It's a joy to deal with honorable people. read more

I love this furniture store and have been doing business here for over 20 years. I consider it to be the best furniture store in the Santa Clarita Valley (and probably the San Fernando Valley as well). This store carries the most elegant, beautiful furniture. If you cannot find it here (or through their catalogs) it doesn't exist. They carry all of the great brands, with the best quality. Their customer service is excellent, too. Most of the furniture in my home was purchased from this store. And yes, I have looked elsewhere in the area, but I keep coming back here because those other stores seem to sell stuff that doesn't look classy enough for me, or the workmanship just wasn't there. How often do I buy furniture anyway? It should last for decades. Yes, you can buy cheaper furniture elsewhere, of lesser quality and style. We all know that. The quality, the craftsmanship, the look, the entire bed set is incredible. David was our salesman and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. On April 15, 2015 I received my chair and coach form Douglas Furniture. For the last two weeks I've been sick about it. First, it took much longer than expected (12 weeks). A call from them several weeks prior told me it was because of the dock strike. The whole order was held back. I know that the coach was the floor sample. That could have been delivered within one week. The chair was ok. When the coach was delivered I did notice that there were tears in the bottom of it (damage). I notice within a few days that the color pattern seem to be faded. The fabric appears old and does not hold a consistent color. Also, after just two weeks the center cushion buckles when sat on. A few years ago I brought a 5x 8 carpet from them. It shed like a dog for a year. I also, brought two night stands from Douglas and before a year one feel apart. I must say they did fix it. Prices are not cheap to have had all of these problems. Would not recommend this store. I am so sorry I did not read the reviews on this store. read more
