I am glad I didn't get to visit the office. It was horror before I stepped foot in the door. I booked the appointment a week in advance, called after to confirm and reconfirmed 2 days later. I asked all the pertinent questions and verbalized several times, if I was booked with Dr. Bailey, I was told you are all set. I received an email confirming an appointment with Katrina Guzman NP, I don't know who she is nor did I request the change. I called a 4th time and they gave me a ton of excuses. I don't want to bore you w the details on of how I didn't select Dr. D. Etc. Now, they suggested to reschedule for a new appointment, 2 weeks after. My health is my top priority, and I had some issues to address at the time of the visit. My health is at stake, and I am not receiving the care required. All the office "Manager" Sue could say, okay! It is not okay and having a team of staff that seem to read of a script: is not acceptable not to mention incompetent. If the "Manager" of the office displayed low quality of service & care; you can only imagine the rest of the bunch (pure rubbish). Thank you for wasting my time & energy. I am content this happened immediately, I saved myself many heartaches and disappointments/money. For the rest of the world, you've been warned! First and foremost I give this physician a one star rating, why? Because on the day of my first visit which was September 13th 2021 I went to the office fasting, as in an empty stomach and all I had was black coffee and no food because they had to do blood work. I was seen by a Male Nurse Practicioner and when he checked my blood pressure, it was very high in the 200s, and I didn't like it when he said that I had to go to the hospital in which I refused because I don't want to feel worse(I guess because of my skin color I feel like he is pushing me to go to the ER) and I was scared, I was only 37 at that time. So he gave me another option to take the pills and I told him if I can have some crackers because I don't want to take any chances of taking blood pressure medication in an empty stomac, so he was nice enough to bring some cracker,s i ate them and took the meds. My blood pressure went down to the normal and I'm glad I refuse to go to the hospital when I wasn't feeling any symptoms of hypertension. The next 3 days my anxiety got triggered when I received my blood work results stating that I have high cholesterol. Months later the blood pressure medication he prescribed me was 10mg-12.5mg and I kid you not the side effects of those pills were causing my blood pressure to be borderline normal and low, I was also experiencing dizziness and near faint moments from the side effects. I asked the Nurse Practicioner if he can lower the milligrams of my blood pressure medication and he said no, he stated that if he lowers the milligrams of my blood pressure medication, he would have to raise the milligrams of my cholesterol meds. That just shows that he is being biased against my medical concerns and pushing more milligrams, sorry I'm not going to please him by suffering and jeopardizing my well being for illness and suffering, I have my life ahead of me to enjoy. I wouldn't recommend no one to go to this practice, Dr. Bailyn is never present at this location in Lower Manhattan and 2) I don't feel comfortable riding on the J train in an empty stomach because of my fears an anxieties of fainting while fasting........nope I wouldn't recommend none of y'all to go, don't even bother! Thankfully I listened to many people whom told me to find a second opinion and I've Decided to change doctors. This doctor is a waste of my time verbally, emotionally and physically. He deserves a one star or none for being biased and stuff. PS: they should ban the $100.00 fee for not showing up for your appointment, it is illegal to charge a patient $100.00 dollars for no show to his/her appointment.....y'all should be ashamed of yourselves! read more

The downtown office is conveniently 2 blocks from my home. My husband has been seeing Dr. Bailyn as his primary for a few years so when I caved and finally needed to see a primary, I made an appointment. I have had luck with Check-in as it's always a breeze and I get seen right away. The medical assistant or nurse that first sees me doesn't fuss about having you jump on a scale and will just have you confirm your weight. That's good for me. Dr. Bailyn genuinely cares about his patients. He is always asking about my husband and wishing him well. He is very knowledgeable, patient and takes the time to talk you through things and I feel comfortable asking him questions. They do e-prescribe and get the Rx to the pharmacy timely. I have used their online tool to email Dr. Bailyn when a medication failed and I needed another medication sent to the pharmacy. This was also done on a timely manner before a holiday weekend. I would recommend Dr. Bailyn. read more

Love Dr. Bailyn! Super professional, great bedside manner, and always happy to answer my myriad of random health questions. He was really helpful with nutritional advice and blood testing when I was vegan- no judgement just information. His office is completely digitized, so no worrying about papers or records being misplaced. You can access your medical records online at any time in their system, and can make appointments online. Prescriptions are all digital too, they just send them right to the pharmacy. Its awesome. The office is nice, there's rarely a wait, and they've got water and good magazines. Added bonus if you're into architecture- the fidi office is in this really gorgeous old Art Deco building. The only reason I took off a star is that I called once to see if I could come in and have some stitches taken out that I got while traveling. I had cut my toe, nothing major, healed fine with the stitches. They said sure and to come in, but when I got there the receptionist said that actually Dr. Bailyn doesn't touch stitches, nor do any of the nurses in the office. Surprising. And really annoying that they couldnt've told me that on the phones. So I guess in that sense he's not really a typical GP, more of an internist. Still, highly recommend for everything other than injuries! read more

The absolute worst. A total joke. The whole staff is completely incompetent. Had to call 6 times to get blood work procedural codes. They never gave them to me b/c they didn't know what they were. How is this possible? This is less about Bailyn and more about his staff. He will see you and be done with you in less than 10 minutes. In addition to the procedural code issue, I make a appt with them and they never tell me it's at another office they have. I take off work to show up for the appt and of course the office is closed. They left a voicemail the day before about the appt but made absolutely no mention about the location. I wasn't even aware there was another location because I went to the same one for three years. Dr. Bailyn is an excellent physician. He is kind and caring, and takes the time to properly discuss your ailments possible treatments. He makes me feel at ease and listens to everything I say. He's also very friendly, and takes the time to ask how you are outside of your medical issue. Rose, his nurse, is also wonderful. She's quite good at taking blood, I never feel anything! I've been going to Dr. Bailyn for 3 years now ever since I moved to NYC and he's been excellent. He always gives me his full attention when I'm there, has referred me to excellent specialists whenever I've needed it and truly shows that he cares. It's not easy finding a doctor in NYC who doesn't rush you out of the office just to get to their next patient but I've never had that issue with Dr. Bailyn. He also doesn't try to diagnose things that he believes a specialist should look at, which I have a lot of respect for since GP's love to act like they know everything and misdiagnose things all the time and just prescribe meds without being 100% certain... you won't have that problem with him. I have been going to Dr. Bailyn since 2014 when I first moved to NYC and was ill, finding him on ZocDoc. He was close to my apartment and had an appointment available. From that point on I named him my Primary Care Physician and have received fantastic care since. He has great bedside manner and takes the time to talk through any questions you may have. I never leave feeling rushed nor having all my questions answered. He is also very accessible via the Patient Portal utilized by his practice. I went once and thought the doctor was fine. When my year-long prescription of birth control ran out, I scheduled my annual physical a couple weeks in advance. I received an appointment reminder and confirmation two days beforehand. However, the staff waited until the last minute to check if I was eligible for a physical. (I had assumed I was.) As it turns out, I was not eligible, since not a year had passed since my last physical -- despite my year's worth of birth control prescription running out since then. They did not contact me until less than 24 hours before my appointment, and unfortunately I missed their one voicemail and a brief message that was only available if I logged into their patient portal. (The message referring me to the portal appeared in my email inbox right after my appointment reminder, and did not contain any details.) So I showed up for the appointment. The receptionists glared at me when I entered, and one of them, who knew my name without me telling her, told me that I was ineligible for the physical. She did not apologize for not letting me know sooner (again, I had scheduled weeks in advance), or offer to reschedule the appointment. She only gave me the option to pay out of pocket or leave. After wasting two hours of sick leave, I would feel like a fool going back to this clinic. They do not value you or your time. I believe how the staff operates is a reflection of how the doctor operates, which is why I am now finding a new doctor. read more

Doctor is ok, but nothing special. Doctor is 3 out of 5. His staff is horrible. I came into for a blood test before the end of the year so my insurance will pay for the test because I meet my deductible, But they forgot to do the test. Ridiculous, then the office told me to come in again and they will do the test but I have to pay 100% of the bill because the insurance only pays for one checkup a year. Horrible, and no fault to my self, you took my blood the first time but forgot to do the blood test and they want to charge me again to do the blood test one more time. The staff is very incompetent. I told the nurse and the receptionist why I came in. Then I told the doctor and he said his nurse will take care of it. Doctor spends about two minutes with you and mostly the work is done by the nurse or doctor's aid. read more

You know, this doctor, up until now had been pretty good. He's a great, friendly guy. But now that I am in a pinch, access to him is limited. Normally they send a refill for my blood pressure meds, but recently they stopped. When I called in, I was told that it was a mix up, and no issues. That they would send it in. When I go to the pharmacy again, I am once again told that they said no. I call up, and I am told that he wants me to go in to see him. Ok, now I am running out of pills because I was misled on my refill situation. I agree to stop by for a visit, but I am told that I have to wait about 2 weeks before I can see him. Do you see why I am frustrated? Had they told me this before, I would have been able to plan accordingly. First was the denial for the meds, then a follow up phone call, being told everything was fine, then another denial from the pharmacy, another follow up and I am told that I have to go to see him. I agree, and they can't see me for weeks. Meanwhile I'm running out of my medication. Great guy, but they gotta get their communication sorted out there. I just made an appointment with a local doctor here in Queens. Bailyn is cool enough that on the occasions I needed a doctor, I would have made the trip out to Wall Street. But not after this experience. I mean, these meds regulate my blood pressure, it's not some regular rinky dink medication. They are playing with my health here over trying to make a few dollars on a damn copay? Also, why didn't I get a follow up call telling me to go in? Dr. Bailyn is fantastic, and so is his staff. He is patient and smart, warm, respectful, and friendly. He has called me to check up on me when sick, and has on a few occasions gone out if his way to make my life easier. I am very confident in his diagnoses, and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation!! And I never have to wait more than a few minutes from my appointment time to see him! The receptionists are very rude. There was an issue with my insurance and the receptionist had zero sympathy and told me to just "figure it out and make another appointment" without even making eye contact. Even if there is nothing she could have done to help, the tiniest bit of compassion goes a long way-- especially within the healthcare industry when seeing patients who already don't feel well. Additionally, the reception desk faces away from the entrance, which is counter-intuitive. If you walk up to the side of the desk closest to the entrance, the receptionists get annoyed at you and tell you to go around to (what seems like) the back of the desk to be helped. They should put up a sign at least. Fortunately, once I was seen by the doctor, the service was great. read more

I was not impressed on my initial (and last) visit here. The office is hard to contact, didn't return any calls, and there was no way to leave a message after my visit for results. In addition, Dr. Bailyn kept me waiting for over 30 minutes and then spent 5 minutes with me for a consultation and exam. Never in all my 24 years have I had an MD take my blood. Usually that menial task is delegated to a nurse. But when I had my check up with Dr. Bailyn, I didn't see a nurse once. He took my history, blood pressure, blood -- he did everything himself! You don't see that very often and I think it's a really good practice. Being fairly new to the city, I've only been to him once, but it was a very positive first impression. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called and the whole affair took just under an hour. Still, I didn't feel rushed one bit. I really felt that Dr. Bailyn took his time with me and made sure to address my concerns and answer any questions I had. He also has an office at 150 Broadway, suite 1601 which was the one I visited -- his proximity to my office was another huge plus. I would definitely recommend him. read more

Completely outrageous, money-seeking, unethical practice. I was referred to Dr. Bailyn by my PCP because I thought I needed a travel vaccination for yellow fever. Before making an appointment and agreeing to pay $150 for this vaccine, I called the office to check whether it was necessary for where I am planning to travel. The receptionist asked me to hold for a moment and then told me that I would need to come in for a consultation to get that information. Unbelievable! read more

I just went in there for an annual check-up, and he really took the time to get to know me, didn't rush me through the typical list of first visit questions, and yes, he also did take my blood and pressure himself. As far as I can see, he's a real "doctor's doctor" -- which is extremely rare to find these days. Dr Bailyn and his staff are very accomodating. Ive been seeing him since Dec of 2011 and I really like him. He won't do unnecessary testing or waste your time. He listens and follows up with any issues you might have. I've never felt rushed and I actually like that I'm in and out. I had to wait almost two hours at my former dr's office and it was a nightmare and this is pretty standard for NYC dr's. I've bounched around and they take at least an hour to see you. I feel Dr Bailyn spends a good amount of time with you but doesn't drag his feet and is pretty consistent so the office appointments move pretty quick. The Dr is nice enough, as is his PA who I've also seen but billing is an absolute nightmare and the rest of his staff is incredibly unhelpful. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt the first visit with the billing, but it's an issue again and I should have learned my lesson before. I have been trying for over a month to get my test results. I've called 8-10 times. Still no results. But they sent a bill for money I didn't owe with no delay. Patient portal they insist you go to doesn't work. All of the effort required afterwards is way more trouble than it's worth. I will see someone else going forward. read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Bailyn and was very pleased with the experience. The wait time was not too bad and they did not require you to fill out copious amounts of paper work. I did not get the feeling that he overbooked his day either. He specifically told me he leaves slots open for emergencies (instead of trying to cram people in). The office lacked the anxious, stressed, why-am-I-still-waiting-vibe that I have been accustomed to in other doctor offices. Many people dislike going to the doctor, so the toned down atmosphere took a bit of the edge off the experience. And the super helpful, friendly front desk (no eye rolling) answered my questions and were really pleasant. Once they got you back into the examine room they did not waste any time. Rose (the nurse) was friendly, competent and soothing. We had some non-forced small talk (I hate small talk for the sake of small talk). Dr. Bailyn is extremely nice and has an authentic (non-forced) bedside manner. He put me at ease and I felt comfortable discussing my medical needs with him. He didn't make me feel crazy or uncomfortable. Many doctors come off as condescending; however, Bailyn treated me as an educated, competent patient (thank you). And in the ares that I was lacked some knowledge (I fall a little behind on my asthma care) he explained in layman's terms the medications he was prescribing and why. Lastly, His office (he has two, but I am referencing the 111 Broadway office) is ridiculously convenient (even if you do not live in the financial district, there are a numerous subway stops within 5 minute or less walk). I feel confident that future (non-first time visits) will be even better experiences. He seemed flexible and willing to work with my needs and schedule. I think in the future I will easily be able to take an hour lunch break, be able to see my doctor, and get back to work on time. Time is money and I appreciate the good Dr. Bailyn for not wasting mine. So, word to the wise - even if you have a primary doctor who you'll never leave - if you work or live in the financial district - use Bailyn as a back up. If you don't love your doctor and want someone who is smart and cool (how many doctors come off as cool?). Hit up Dr. B. You can tell him the girl with the crazy high HDL sent you. read more

Dr.Bailyn is great! When you see him you get the sense that you're in good hands.. he is of course very intelligent and competent as well as being compassionate, good listener, and understanding. He is really the whole package as far as primary physicians go. My family has been seeing him for several years now, and I feel very lucky to have such a terrific doctor in a healthcare system that's very broken and patient unfriendly. The doctor is a nice guy and the staff were capable people. I got everything I needed from him but I felt like I was being rushed in and rushed out. It was mid-afternoon and he was a few minutes behind schedule, and although he answered all of my questions it felt as if he was trying to catch up to his schedule during my appointment. He returned the call advising that things were mostly okay and to call back. Since then, I have left 5 messages with office staff and answering service and have yet to hear back. Had an appointment the other day, and I think I may have hit the power ball of medical care! Competent and friendly staff - from the appointment taker, to the receptionist, to Rose (the excellent, wonderful, 10 star RN), to the personable, really smart but not at all pretentious doc himself. I was very, very impressed. Upon entering the office, the vibe is noticeably chill, unlike the frenetic feel of so many other medical offices; but there is no lack of professionalism here.
