Dr. Jiao examined him, and while we were waiting for lab results in the sitting area, Mr. P suddenly went limp and stopped breathing in my arms. Dr. Jiao immediately performed chest compressions and successfully revived him. As I type this, we're still not sure if Mr. P will make it through, he's in critical condition, and the next 24 hours will be telling. I just wanted everyone to know how incredible Dr. Jiao is. They sent him to Dr. Jiao and he told my parents that the dog is not overweight but has bad joints and arthritis and will never walk again, and he put my poor dog on medication for the rest of his life. After hearing this from my parents and arguing with them to try and convince them that Dr Jiao is a typical money hungry lying sneaky pig who knows more than well my dog is overweight, I put my foot down and began to feed the dog myself. Dr. Jiao went into detail on how/why Lucky's last vet may have missed the cancer, even though it was obvious that he was suffering from something, and Dr. Jiao let us know that there wasn't much we could've done to prevent this. For routine medications, especially those that are critical, communication and timely processing are just as important as the medical care itself. Since I wasn't returning home for four days I called my vet and asked that they forward a prescription for the medication that worked successfully. I spoke to my vet and she had the prescription immediately submitted to Dr Katz, my daughter's vet, After spending 40 minutes on hold, I was told Dr Katz would not honor the request. So my dog will spend the weekend in pain because Dr Katz only cared about getting paid for an office visit. I've never used Katz before so I can't speak to his talent, but I don't think much of his compassion or professionalism.

The doctor examined my dog and brought him to the back room to get some blood work done before scheduling for his operation. In most cases, don't they usually do the blood work in front of you..? Anyways..during the pre-op, the doctor stated that my dog had a condition where one of his testicles was retained, but that he was still able to go on with the procedure. I made the appointment and was given a quote of $450, which was also confirmed by the vet. The day comes where I have to drop my dog off. One of the staff members brings me a run down of the procedure and tells me it would cost $562+ because of the retained testicle. I told the staff that I was given a quote of $450 and he stated that they were not able to do the procedure for that amount. He basically told me to pay up or go somewhere else. I should've gone somewhere else, but chose to stay, mainly because I wanted the procedure done. I'm writing this review because I felt it was unprofessional of the staff to quote me a price knowing the condition of my dog and then changing the price at the last minute. VCA is in the service of saving animals and making it affordable for all. I'll know for next time to find a place that cares about a dog's well being and not so much about collecting money. What a shame, VCA. Update: manager called me the day of the procedure and apologized for the miscommunication. Refunded me the extra cost. Thank you much Elissa.
