Nobody said one word about needing a separate "new patient" appointment. Then his paw started bleeding. We called for help and were flatly told the other office "couldn't take him" because he'd never been seen as a new patient, despite the fact that he absolutely had been. A dog in pain got turned away over an internal paperwork technicality that took their own staff thirty seconds to explain, if anyone had bothered. Also, my other dog has been a patient for years so they knew me. When we pushed back, the vet stated that she never checked him. Even though she had him on the table?!?! I figured she would say let him come in to see the paw. That's a practice choosing to protect itself over a customer whose dog needed care. Two offices that can't sync a patient file is a system failure. Refusing to own it when it hurts an animal is a choice. We're done, both dogs are gone, and so is any recommendation from us.

Made the appointment and all went well. No definitive diagnosis but a course of action had been implemented. About 6 weeks later I received an email describing symptoms for canine osteoarthritis. I made a call to discuss these symptoms which my dog was presenting. A week went by and no call. Bond Vet Rye Brook had just opened so I figured I would give them a shot. The staff was great. The vet Dr. Devery was very patient and thorough. We decided to continue with the anti inflammatory as well as pain killers for a short time. Last week was the end of the drugs and a call was made to discuss further treatment if necessary. Today I met with Dr Williams who also took time to check out my girl and it was decided since she has shown signs of improvement the best course of action was to maintain limited activity and make sure she stays comfortable. The whole experience was stress free. Got to say currently I am happy with them let's see if this will be a long happy relationship.

From the very beginning, about five years ago, I was impressed by the caring, loving way that my boy and I were treated. No matter how many times I brought him there, everything was explained gently and thoroughly. Munchkin was 16 years old. I could see severe changes in him. He lost interest in walking the neighborhood, he lost weight, stopped eating and drinking. I knew that his time had come. The procedure was humane and compassionate and although my heart was shattered, I knew that I was doing what was best for my boy. Dr. Tarasoff was wonderful. She said all the right things and made it as easy as possible for me. Yesterday, I received a handwritten card from Dr. Tarasoff and her staff. Enclosed was a clipping of Munchkin's hair and a paw print. It was so kind and thoughtful and I will treasure it always. I highly recommend the Animal Hospital of White Plains. A rehabber from NY got back to us and recommended VEG. They immediately took the baby in and began working on it and promised to call rehabbers to take it once it was cleared to leave. Unfortunately, my dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur which I was unaware of, so they did not feel comfortable giving her the sedation she needed to take proper X-rays of a possible hip or lower back injury, which was a bit concerning. We did have a long wait, but to be fair, it was a rough night there and there were pets there with more significant injuries, so I appreciated their prioritizing them. They were able to administer pain meds though, which helped my dog feel much more comfortable overnight until I get her in to see her regular vet the following day. The bill was a bit high for just a preliminary evaluation, a basic cbc, and one shot of pain killer but it was worth having some peace of mind that my dog was seen and in far less discomfort overnight. I would definitely go back if I needed to, as the care she received was prudent and they were honest with me about their concerns about the risk of sedation for my particular dog.

I can say that the staff are spectacular, especially Jaime, who is friendly, helpful, and…read moreincredibly informative, Dr. Nolan is amazing (and he and the staff are the only reasons I didn't give a lower rating). He is communicative, caring, and has a great bedside manner. It is clear he truly cares about his patients and their owners. He gave my dog his wellness checkup last year. On the other hand and unfortunately, unfortunately, there are absolutely NO good things I can say about Dr. Schoenhut. She didn't return calls on two occasions despite our reaching out multiple times and being told things like, "oh she'll call in in 30 mins;" "oh, she was supposed to return your call after lunch;"; "I'll remind her again in just a minute;" "She's currently in with another pet but she'll reach out before she leaves (which she didn't). It took three more calls the next day (with similar excuses) before she called after the practice had closed for the day. I had brought my dog in for a number of reasons because he had a lot of muscle and overall weight loss in a very short period of time, could no longer jump up onto even the couch, his face had become gaunt, and his face and body (particularly the former) had been turning gray very quickly. Based on his condition, I was pretty sure that he had cancer. I've attached two pictures. The first is what he looked like during his wellness exam with Dr. Nolan about 8-ish months before I came back. The second is what he looked like the month after the exam by Dr. Schoenhut. He wasn't quite as wasted away at the time she examined him, but it wasn't much better. After Dr. Schoenhut examined him, she ordered a number of tests. When the results came in, she started breezing through things without defining the medical terms. I had to stop her, asked her to break it all down, and what it all meant. I asked her to explain the results and just to be straight with me if it looked like it was cancer--particularly because of the way he looked. She was kind of vague, talking about how certain markers *might* indicate the presence of cancer, and then recommended other tests that could be performed--including something like bone-marrow extraction--that would have cost over (if I'm remembering correctly) about $3,000 to $3,500 if we wanted to be 100% certain. I later learned that one of the markers on my dog's original test was in the 9,000 range but normal was in the 300 range, and that plus another elevated marker, together with his physical condition as shown in the picture below were sufficient to diagnose the presence of cancer without the need for the other really expensive tests In both visits Dr. Schoenhut--unlike Dr. Nolan--made me feel like she was just rushing through the appointment to get onto the next appointment. Literally the worst vet experience I've ever had in the 21+ years I've been a dog owner. But for the fact that Dr. Nolan and the staff are so great, I'd have rated the business no higher than 2 stars. If you do choose this practice, make sure you ask for and get Dr. Nolan.
