I am beyond bummed that it is an hour away from my residence but I am super stoked that I have a business project taking place three miles from here. The project lasts until May so let's just say they will see this smiley face one too many times and it still won't be enough for me! Per usual, I checked Yelp and yet again, the reviewers helped a sister out! I ordered half sandwich and half salad. My total order was just over $10.00. I tried to order the downtown turkey on fresh focaccia but I wasn't able to get lunch until around 2 pm and it was sold out. In it's place I ordered it in a spinach wrap. I also opted for the Asian salad with sesame dressing. The portions here were very generous. I can't completely "wrap" my mind around why a turkey, provolone, Mayo, tomato and alfalfa sprout wrap was so tasty and you know what?!?....I don't even care. Each bite I took, my eyes just got bigger and bigger in awe of questioning why this turkey wrap was so amazing? I even had to check myself and be like "you're hungry, it's past lunch...." but then I kindly reminded myself I ate breakfast and that truly wasn't the case. Again, they gave me, what looked like to me, a whole wrap, not a half. Attached picture for reference. Also, the downtown turkey filled me, so it wasn't until the next day that I ate the Asian salad. Talk about FARESH . This deli clearly uses the freshest ingredients. There wasn't one dull, limp ingredient in this salad. It literally burst with flavor. Kale and shredded cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, green onions, snow peas, red peppers, cilantro, sesame seeds, sliced almonds, sesame vinaigrette..Last tid bit, you get a side with the half and half combo. I chose broccoli salad. It was only a few bites but, what seemed like to me, they were keeping true to their culture, anything you try will keep you continuously coming back. read more

I ate lunch here for the first time today. while on business in Rome. pros: 1) even during the lunch rush, took my order promptly & got food in a reasonable time-frame. 2) toasted wrap sandwich was very good and a decent portion for price. Although no chips or even a pickle incl for $$. 3) self-serve drinks / free refills CONS: (draw your own conclusion ‍) I actually witnessed a male COOK go into the restroom wearing blue nitrile gloves. Shortly later, he came out wearing SAME !?! blue pair of gloves (vs bare hands if used facilities & washed) and then return back to GRILL. Good sandwiches and lunch spot! A bit overpriced so deducting a star for that. Definitely an older lady lunch crowd, so if you're looking for a quick lunch spot, maybe skip it. But I'm sure it would be great for a leisurely lunch with girlfriends! read more

The food alone would have been 5 stars. However, we came on a Friday around 12:30, which I know is busy lunch time. Parking was almost impossible and it was a very overwhelming and chaotic environment with so many people there and a young girl taking our order. The girl seemed very confused and new. She had to ask several questions to other people in order to ring us up right and didn't know which salads were vegetarian. The food though was amazing. The grilled cheese was perfect, salad was fresh, and the cake melts in your mouth! I plan to return for sure and hopefully experience less chaotic and better service and find a parking spot! read more

I love the food here and it's always a favorite place when we visit our daughter in Rome. Today we came in and ordered food to go and I was truly disappointed. There were no signs encouraging masks or distancing for patrons and about 70% of customers were not wearing masks while waiting to order or to pick up food. Even more disappointing, several of the employees were not wearing masks. One of the guys making sandwiches had his mask dangling from one ear. The owner, Doug, was working beside him while wearing a mask. Another woman preparing food was wearing a mask around her next. Another employee had no mask at all. Since Time has consistently been a hot spot for CoVID, I was upset to see this. I've asked my daughter not to go in for food again and we, very sadly, won't either. read more

Second time visiting Rome and had to visit Doug's Deli again! Got a half and half sandwich and salad - Asian Salad and the Turkey sandwich with provolone. Salad was fantastic and I got the focaccia bread for the sandwich, with the sandwich toasted, which was more like a panini. All very good. You get another side with that deal, so I got the broccoli salad. I do wish I could have gotten more of that though because it was delicious. A great local find! I had the chipotle chicken wrap and it was delicious, my only issue with it was too much dressing on the sandwich and I would have liked more tomato and avocado! The broccoli salad was delicious and the lemonade is freshly squeezed! My friend had the harvest salad and loved it and we split a cookie (Julie's favorite) which was also delicious! I would go back and get a half sandwich and half salad combo. Parking can be a lil tough here, they have a few spaces on the side and a few in front on the street. The service here is fantastic and so friendly. They have patio seating out front as well as tables inside. We chose to sit outside so we were around less people (this is understandably a popular spot!) and it was a gorgeous day. Also of note, while we were dining, a couple came to pick up food for takeaway. While the gentleman was getting in his car, a server ran out and brought him a fresh fruit cup because she apparently he dropped his but hadn't noticed. Delicious, fresh, healthy! I had the pick two, Harvest Salad & Doug's Downtown Turkey. I also had a tea. Daughter had the Asian salad & a Veggie sandwich on gluten free bread. All was amazing! Plus no up charge for the gluten free bread! Love everything about this place, including their strong brewed tea. Nothing worse than weak tea. First time visit yesterday based on Yelp Reviews/Ratings. The wife and I both ordered combos, that is a sandwich, a side and a large bottomless styro cup for self-serve sodas and tea.. Wife's Rueben was quite well "reviewed" and my Club sandwich was amply loaded with ham/turkey/bacon/cheese and garden. She had the small bag chips and I had the 2 oz. cuplet of broccoli salad. All good. Food very good. Atmosphere good. Service prompt and friendly. Value? These two sandwich combos set the Visa card back $24.50. Yes, that's $12.25 each. There are several other delis nearby, authentic Tex-Mex, Wings and slow to fast food eateries within 1/2 mile. Our personal experience has been better value elsewhere. Again, no gripes about the place just does not compete on a value basis. read more

I have nothing but compliments for this great place. I loved the open kitchen and enjoyed watching someone make cinnamon rolls from scratch, so yum!! I had the tomato basil soup and the pimento melt. Both were excellent and I could have eaten 5 more pimento melts it was so good! The small pickle/cucumber garnish on the side was delicious. I wanted a bowl full of them! Also got a whoopee pie. So sweet and rich I could only eat a few bites but I'm looking forward to the rest later. Very reasonably priced and I walked out full! Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town. Oh yikes, I'm the only one who disagrees with all the other reviewers. Well, I thought the food was waaay overpriced. We paid $27.71 for two salads and a drink. That's nearly $30 for lunch. The cashier was not engaging or very friendly. I will say, the orders were accurate and took less than 10 minutes on a busy Saturday. The salad came with spinach, strawberries, chicken, nuts, red onions, and cheese--but honestly, there wasn't enough of anything on the salad. They'd been too sparing with the toppings, and the chicken was quite dry. What got me most was simply the price for the amount of food; I feel like I should have paid about $8 per salad, $2 for the drink, and roughly $2 in tax, which would be $20. Maybe they do better sandwiches that would be worth that much, but as I'm reviewing my experience, I only give it two stars. Better luck next time. read more

I can honestly say that Doug's Downtown Deli gets it. The menu is diverse and has great flavor. The staff is friendly and courteous. The food is good, and the place has great atmosphere. My sister owned a deli for 25 years and Doug's is the first deli to really impress me. My sister's Reuben had no equal until Doug's Downtown Deli. I'm serious- it's that good! My bride had a veggie wrap and it was so good. We tried some tomato basil soup...perfection. It was seasoned well and it was served with toasted flat bread triangles, brushed with olive oil and baked with spices, visible to the eye and delectable on the palate. Their potato soup is out of this world! Everything here is made completely fresh and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. A bit pricey for my liking but so worth it. They are one of the only places that now sell Frios gourmet popsicles. 10/10 would recommend trying! read more

54 years old by chance tried Doug's. Wow best Club I have ever had. Yumm. I got focaccia bread wife got sourdough. Both highly recommend.

Doug's Deli was recommended on our visit to town and it was a good choice. We placed a large lunch order for our team for carryout and they nailed it! All items were accounted for and labeled with names(as we had asked for to easily distribute). The price is very reasonable, some wraps were a touch small for some of our players but ordering 2 took care of that. I personally had the half cobb salad and the half club sandwich. The sandwich was warm and had plenty of meat, cheese and toppings within. The salad was also delicious and very fresh. Only criticism was that I had a single slice of avocado, one quarter of an egg and light on the bacon and cheese compared to all the lettuce. But was great nonetheless! read more
