My fiance lives in Rome and I wanted to find a non-fast food place to eat that has good burgers, and my fiance was recommended Doug's, and it didn't disappoint! Staff was friendly, food came out very quick. Was very clean, including the bathrooms. I also just appreciate a place that's not necessarily fast food nor a full-on restaurant with servers. It's very casual and allows for more money to be spent elsewhere in the establishment, like the quality of the ingredients. My one and only complaint is that I wish there was a fountain drink machine accessible to the customers who choose to dine-in; when you eat at a place like this where you're not being waited on, it's a pain for both customers and workers alike to have people coming up to the counter for refills. I can't imagine it's saving enough money on drinks for it to be worth the annoyance. read more

I would chose the downtown location over this one anyday. I was in the middle of eating my sandwhich when i discovered an obvious black hair in my food that was not mine. When asking for a refund because the food is not edible she said they don't do those only remakes. I don't know about anyone else but after almost eating someone else's hair you aren't really hungry anymore. Workers were more concerned with talking to eachother than tending to the clients as well as rude. read more

My friend and I visited today and placed our order around 12:15 p.m. I received my meal, finished eating, and my friend still had not received her food. We asked several times about the status of her order, but it never arrived. We also requested to speak with the manager, but we were told he was too busy to come speak with us. At no point did anyone apologize for the delay or acknowledge the inconvenience. The only resolution offered was a refund for her sandwich--not her drink. Had she known she would never receive her meal, she would not have purchased a drink either. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The lack of communication, absence of an apology, and unwillingness of the manager to address the situation reflected a serious lack of customer service. Quite possibly one of the best burgers I've had! I was traveling with my band for a wedding in Rome and we found this spot online. We walk in and the restaurant is really clean and the people working were really friendly and helped us if we had any questions. I got the Big Ben burger which was HUGE! It was around $15, which for its size is well priced. If I'm ever in Rome in the future I'm going back. Oh, and they have amazing desserts as well! read more

I wish I could comment on how good the food is, but I never got my order. Three of us ordered and after about ten minutes 2 people's food came. Mine was a burger so I assumed maybe it took a little longer. After another ten minutes when my family was almost done I asked where my food was. They said they would check and then came back and told me it was never rang up. The woman who rang it up was right there and didn't say anything. They offered to cook it quick but my family had finished by the time the story became clear. I won't be back. read more

I told him I've never been to this location before leaving this restaurant and I'm new to Georgia I had asked the lady if she had to slice avocado She said yes and I said I'd have a grilled cheese on multigrain bread after about 10 minutes of sitting down and with my number at the table The man showed up with a grilled cheese on sourdough bread and I said well I had ordered multigrain bread another 10 minutes the multigrain showed up a little bit on the burnt side not even I'm sorry this happened but here it is pretty overpriced for a grilled cheese and a drink to me they weren't that welcoming at all for somebody has never been here before. read more

We have visited this new location more times than I'd like to admit. In our latest visit we enjoyed another great meal. Instead of ordering burgers, which we enjoyed in our other visits, we decided to try some other options. My husband had a grilled chicken wrap and I opted for a kids meal burger and a cup of soup. The fries are my favorite. They're crispy, fresh, and really taste great with Doug's sauce. We still love the original location but will mix it up from time to time at the new location. read more

Well my long awaited cheeseburger came out hot but fries came out cold. I asked for some hot fresh fries, and the cook took some of the cold already cooked ones from the back and put them in the fryer to heat back up and serve them to me. everybody knows what twice fried fries taste like. to be such a nice place you all should be more in tune to what's goin out the door. it only takes a person one time to get served lazy cooked food as in twice cooked French fry's. get it right y'all. there's a lot of money invested in that place and if you keep that stuff up, it's going to be closed because no one is going to come there and eat cold food. especially at that price point. My only complaint is that the fries were too salty. The service was fast and very courteous. Hours advertise they close at 8pm. We came in at 6:55pm on a Saturday. We were looking forward to trying the burgers. I overheard the guy from the back tell him only sandwiches and salads as they had already shut down the fryers and grill. He came back to the register and didn't say anything so I asked if I heard right and he confirmed only salads and sandwiches. I asked if they closed at 8pm and he said, "yeah...I mean, sometimes we close at 7..." Not a great way to run a business in my opinion. The service was decent at best. The sitting area was not clean. We could not find a single clean table. We had to ask the server to clean our table. The food came out rather quickly. We ordered a bacon double cheeseburger with fries. The fries were seasoned very well but the burger had no seasoning at all and was a little greasy. However, the good was hot and fresh. Four of us went to Doug's for the first time last Thursday. The acoustics in the place are awful. The noise was deafening. Three of us had burgers, which were tasteless and cold. Asked for mustard and no thousand island dressing, but that didn't happen. The fries were the only good thing. one of us had a Reuben and that was very good. I have been to Doug's Deli Downtown for lunch on several occasions. Always a good experience, so I brought those experiences to this location as a ruler to measure the new restaurant on my first visit. It's location was very convenient to the Harbin Clinic where I had an appointment. Same kind of friendly person at the counter. Good food delivered in a reasonable amount of time. That's the good part. But here's why I didn't give 5 stars to my experience: The dining area had no personality. The Downtown location has lots of interesting stuff to see. And worst of all--the acoustics!! It was lunch time with about 80-90% of the tables in use. The sound level produced by the conversations among the diners was as close to high school cafeteria food fight as I have experienced in years. The noise level really killed the experience for me, so 1 star for the atmospherics and 5 stars for the food. That averages to 3. read more

We have been there several times and everything we have eaten was very good. The sandwiches were excellent and very filling. The burgers are probably as good as you'll find anywhere in the area. I'm not really crazy about the fries as they are pretty thin and get cold quickly, although they are crisp and tasty when they come out. My main complaint is as mentioned before. During busy times the dining area is so noisy that you cannot carry on a conversation across the table without screaming at the top of your lungs, which is what it sounds like most people in there are doing. The glass and bare sheetrock walls along with the concrete floor turn the place into an echo chamber. Some attention to the acoustics would be a major improvement. Until then, we will limit our visits to off peak times which greatly reduces the chances we'll eat there very often even though when we do go, I look forward to the food. read more
