Went here the other day and absolutely loved how Community focused it was. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the mission seems just as spectacular. I did opt to make my own sandwich and I think it was not the best idea, but it is only to the fault of my own. Next time I will elect to get something that they come up with. Not sure why I went rogue because I typically acknowledge staff Know the best combinations. I will say that on my sandwich all of the ingredients are absolutely delicious. The meat was fresh and it was grilled to perfection. At a staff suggestion, I got the sourdough bread upgrade. That bread was amazing. We needed a place to stop for lunch on our adventure to Rome with our 5 and 3 year old kids. Since my wife and kids are vegan and I am not, it can be a challenge to find places that we all enjoy, but Sunflour was perfect. I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich which was really flavorful and filling. My wife had the vegan sandwich and the kids split grilled vegan cheese and Sun butter and jellies which they loved! We all also tried some of the desserts which were a perfect treat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice little spot we stopped at for brunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service here is unparalleled. The staff here really work hard to give you terrific food at a reasonable price. Coffee seeped and poured at your table? Best coffee service I have ever had! Nice selection of canned drinks as well. The grilled sandwiches were perfection. My only regret is that I wasn't able to sample the ten or so pastries I wanted so badly. I'll be back to do that another day. read more

My husband and I visited the Sunflower Community Bakery for breakfast and so my one daily cup of coffee could be memorable. Each breakfast sandwich is handcrafted and then the coffee French-pressed for one's table. It was as delicious as anticipated! I had a breakfast sandwich with an egg on toasted multi-grain sourdough bread. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside. While waiting, I noticed all the spices that can be purchased in the quantity desired and took the opportunity to get some unique seeds for a recipe I want to try. Although their bread is good, the service was disappointing. It took 35 minutes to have our food (sandwiches) ready, even though they just used panini pressers to make sandwiches and heated up the soup in the microwave, and there's only one order before us. Hope the owner can address this issue since I sincerely hope the bakery be successful. read more

When we moved to Rome we searched for good sourdough bread. Unadulterated flour and no added ingredients. We were lucky enough to discover Sunflour and purchase multiple loaves of their sourdough each time we visit. We also began trying their Friday night take-away dinners. Delicious and highly recommended. As Rome has no Indian restaurants (what's up with that!?) when Sunflour offered an Indian menu one Friday we had high hopes and expectations. All were met! We've also fallen in love with their muffins. Lavender Lemon, Pumpkin w/ Chocolate Chips, and their Morning Glory which one of us can't seem to leave without 6 of. They do breakfasts and lunches also. So much more than a "bakery"! read more

Owning a small business ourselves, we don't understand how they do so much...but we see it with our own eyes. I had the breakfast sandwich and added sausage. I did not upgrade the bread because the regular bread was still their homemade bread. Unfortunately this turned out to be wheat bread I think, which I'm fine with, but it lacked flavor. The eggs themselves were weird as their consistency was strange. It's as if they were not fresh scrambled eggs but rather out of a box. They had 0 seasoning in them and I mean 0. The sausage was very good. The French press coffee was also excellent. The service was spectacular. The two ladies working make me want to return and try again. The ambiance is cute inside but there is no sitting inside there is a tent outside underneath which you sit. They have what appeared to be a homeless person cleaning the area up and then they gave him a free breakfast. I also really appreciated that which also makes me want to try it out again. If I was just eating the sandwich I would have given the place only 1 or 2 stars. I have hope for their pastries and fresh bread. read more

Our favorite breakfast restaurant in town. Sunny is the best and they have healthy organic food for those who care about their health. Their grits and porridge has to be the best I've ever eaten. Sunflour is a bright little spot of sunshine in the river district area of Rome. It's a small but mighty bakery serving up local, organic and freshly made high-quality foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner too! Rome was lacking on spots who really focus on providing organic, locally sourced foods as well as options that are gluten free, and they are helping fill that gap. The food is refreshing and delicious, and the atmosphere with Sunny and her crew are homey and warm. I grab breakfast sitting in the cafe-style outside patio area when weather is nice while working, and it's refreshing. The freshly made bread with butter and jam is a must.. but everything is good. read more
