Solid Chinese here. Came in for dinner and ordered the kung pao chicken. I like mine with a bit moreof heat, but it was good and served hot & fresh! Chicken breast was used in this dish, making it upscale and "top shelf." Egg rolls are tasty and also served hot & fresh. The egg drop soup was very good, too! Normally I don't prefer the corn starched thick egg drop soup, but theiry isn't too thick! Service was friendly & super fast! They kept our drinks filled and checked in periodically. We live nearby so I really wanted to like this restaurant but it is so inconsistent that we stopped coming here. When the food is good, it is really good but boy it can be really mediocre at best quite often. Sometimes the food is so salty, you cannot eat it! It is a nice, clean restaurant and the people working there are friendly and helpful so it is unfortunate that the food quality is not always up to par. read more

Wow! What fabulous food and service!! Went in for lunch and was it disappointed. They have a very large offering of lunch specials that include soup, egg roll, crab Rangoon, and entree. Spouse and I stopped in for lunch based on the Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. I had the teriyaki chicken lunch special, and my spouse had the orange chicken lunch special. Both come with a small spring roll and crab puff. Both were particularly good, and the portion size was large. The server was great and very attentive. Revisited and tried their noodle soups- broth is deliciously addictive even if a tad too salty. War wonton soup is full of crisp veggies and a generous amount of wonton dumplings. I love that the veggies are cooked crisp and not soggy. Wonton noodle soup is similar except with noodles and less veggies. Singapore curry noodles ordered extra spicy is also decent. Seems like a place where you need to find a few go-to dishes as they cater to the local palate preferences. Be prepared to request chopsticks and chili oil. If you like spicy- request extra spicy. Service is efficient but not super friendly. Atmosphere is more upscale and comfortable. Discount for paying with cash vs credit card -make sure to ask for it. read more

This time, we ordered the Family Dinner Meal, which I'm convinced was engineered by a team of NASA dietitians who asked themselves: "How can we make two people feel like they're feeding a small marching band?" Mission accomplished. The Entrees * Shrimp in Lobster Sauce: Let me tell you, those shrimp weren't just cooked--they were knighted. Each bite was so velvety and decadent that I half expected to hear "God Save the Queen" playing softly in the background. The lobster sauce? A rich, savory bath that whispered sweet nothings to the shrimp before letting them dive into our taste buds. * Cashew Chicken: The cashews were crisp little acrobats, flipping through tender chicken morsels like they were auditioning for Cirque du Soleil. Haven't been here since they first week they opened, time to give it a shot! Bottom line: uneven. The interior looks new, very nicely appointed, but the tables were a bit too close together for me. We were seated immediately, and the waitress took our order shortly. My diet coke arrived quickly in a nice glass. Our food took longer than I'd like, just two dishes (see photos), but they do a good carryout business which slows things down. When I went to the counter to pay for our meal we got two receipts that differed by $10, quite confusing. My mu shu pork was absolutely excellent - the veggies were fresh, the pork perfectly cooked, nice amount of scrambled eggs, good pancakes. My wife ordered the Special Rice Noodles which was on the "Chef's Special" menu so expectations were high. The noodles were quite salty but lacked flavor, so she resorted to dumping hoisin, sweet-sour, whatever she could get her hands on to give it more flavor. Maybe serve a side of fish sauce or something for those that want more? Just a thought. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, but really crowded by the time we left, we got to know the people at the table next to us better than I care too. read more

We have lived in Oro Valley for A year & today we found Dove M Bistro So Far this has been the 1st Asian Restaurant we really like & We will be back !! Food was Very Good & Piping Hot & the 2 soups we tried were Great One Improvement would be good Is a Better Egg Roll ( very Small ) And small bottles of Prosecco Or sparkling wine ( Brut) Many local restaurants have Korbel or Chandon or La Marcha Or Lenesta Just a suggestion !! Follow up to my review from 2017..... We still go there, but only occasionally now. I've run into two issues: 1. A lot of the dishes taste the same. Same sauce and it's a bit sweet for my taste. There are exceptions, notably the special rice noodle and the Hong Kong Wonton soup which is an absolute winner. 2. Nothing ever changes. No changes to the menu in years, no specials. If they had daily/weekly or even monthly specials I would absolutely go check them out - but it's just the same old same old. read more

I don't understand the four star reviews AT ALL. The food we ordered was just about inedible. From the Chow Mein, Happy Family and Sesame Chicken, not one single dish was palatable. It's a very bad sign when the best thing you can say you ate at a Chinese restaurant was the complimentary white rice. Seems like we consistently crave Asian food on Mondays...when our closest go-to for carry out is closed. Dove M Bistro, just a bit further away, is open every day! We have ordered multiple times, especially during our kitchen remodel, and never have been disappointed. The meat eaters in our family really enjoy the sizzling rice soup, fried shrimp appetizer, and cashew chicken. The soup comes in a large container and easily makes 4 servings. The cashew chicken, when served with rice, provides 2 meals for two people. Dove M also has a nice selection of vegetable dishes and is vegan friendly. I usually get Kung Pao Tofu; they'll adjust the heat for you - just ask! My partner usually gets the steamed fish with ginger or spicy Kung Pao Fish. We have tried some "salty" dishes that weren't to our taste, and a family member once was surprised that the shrimp in their dish was breaded. We then saw that Dove M has photos of many of their dishes on their website's home page. If you're trying something new, it never hurts to ask if any element of the dish contains breading...or something else that you don't like/eat. The time they give us for pick-up always is accurate, and the food still is hot when we get home. Sometimes, we find that they've tucked an "extra" something in for us to try. I went to this place because I'd been told it was "Fantastic Chinese food". I have to say, I have a Much different opinion on what is 'fantastic'. I've had Much Better Chinese food than this place offered. The chicken in the mango chicken dish was Tough, like Well Done, Dry steak. The chicken in the mushroom chicken dish was rubbery and none of it tasted particularly 'fantastic', just okay. The Shrimp in the coconut shrimp dish were Big, and tasted pretty good. The Eggdrop soup was decent and so were the little eggrolls and wantons. The rice was just cooked with a very little bit of egg and soy sauce. *shrug* It was rice. The service was okay.
