Went in around 2pm today to get some lunch. What a gem! Seems to be a mom and pop family run business including a couple of the kids hanging out. Immediately greeted and offered a booth in the pleasant dining room given menu along with getting my drink order. My drink came out fast and was a neat plastic cup full of ice along with the can - pretty perfect for me. A few seconds later my small order for the hot and sour soup arrived and it was a good sized small bowl but the soup was delicious. I've missed this in Tucson. Shortly, my order of the house special chop suey came out. It was fresh, hot, in a flavorful brown sauce. Full of the chicken, beef and shrimp along with lots of crunchy vegetables. A large portion and so good. This could be the kept secret in Tucson. Go check it out! read more

Saw this as a recommendation somewhere else on Yelp and decided to give it a try for dinner. We called in an order for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes! The dinner special was a great deal, the portions for soup and the other items were more than reasonable. Our favorite thing however was the BBQ pork wide ride noodles. We can't wait to come back and try the BBQ pork in something else because it was fantastic. They also already had spicy mustard and sweet & sour sauce in the bad without having to ask. One of my family's new favorite go to restaurants - we always enjoy our experience here (takeout and dine in)! It has a very small family owned simple ambience, the service is usually above and beyond nice and the portion-to-price deal is great. I usually get the vegetables lo mein, for $10.25 it's a pretty big plate. I usually have enough for 2 meals. I also tried the hot & sour soup for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! No meat in it, it had tofu and mushroom and really wasn't too spicy (I'm a baby with spice). The imported Chinese beer is a good drink choice. Not very fizzy, and very clear/refreshing. Some of my family's other favorites: egg drop soup with a side of crispy noodles (these are delicious! So light and crispy, the serving size is a huge bowl for only $7), chicken lo mein, sweet & sour pork, and the crab puffs. The only thing we notice is that the vegetable fried rice really doesn't have any vegetables, just some egg pieces but they like the rice flavor. New Asia is close to my home and has become my place where craving Chinese food. My most recent takeout order was a smorgasbord of wonton soup, crab rangoons, pan fried dumplings, sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, and sesame balls because I was hungry when I ordered. The crab rangoons are tasty. I was less of a fan of the pan fried dumplings - it reminded me of the frozen ones you find in the grocery store. The wonton soup was flavorful and packed with cabbage. The sweet and sour chicken comes with pineapple and veggies along with the sauce. It was fried crispy but not super greasy which can easily happen. I was a fan of the cashew chicken that was packed with meat, cashews, zucchini, celery, and I think water chestnuts in a soy based sauce. The sesame balls I didn't see on the menu but asked and was pleasantly surprised they were available. Crispy and chewy and filled with red bean paste they were delicious and definitely satisfied a craving. We were accidentally given the wrong soup but they were very nice and had the correct soup waiting for me when I went back. read more

Still good food. We place the order, go to Safeway which is next door for a quick shopping and 15 minutes later our food is ready. We usually get fried rice and beef with broccoli. First time here today, and this is my new go-to place for non-szechwan chinese food. Plenty of parking in the easy-to-find lot at the corner of Grant and Silverbell. Small dining room, but pleasant and well-lit. My wife had one of the lunch specials and really enjoyed everything - she had the twice-cooked chicken (see photo). She said the spice level was just right. I was going to do one of the lunch specials, then spotted a group of cod fish dishes at the top of the menu. Ordered the cod with black bean sauce. It was too big of a portion for lunch, but I ate it all anyway! Lots of good green peppers and other veggies to balance off the fish. The manager suggest the salt & pepper cod, I will definitely order it next time. This place is a bit of a drive from our house in OV, but whenever we are in the neighborhood (Dragoon Brewery is very close) we will stop in. The only downside: paper/plastic plates. I prefer to eat off of ceramic dinnerware, but I get with Covid and all that some places don't want to do as many dishes and are well stocked with disposable for carryout orders. This place is usually pretty amazing. Their crab puffs are probably my favorite! I always order to go and staff is always friendly. I ordered Kung Pao chicken a few days ago and only received zucchini and peanuts and about 8 pieces of chicken. Portions are not the best and for the price this is their downside. Taste is good. My husband and I stumbled on this small restaurant by accident while heading into Safeway. All I can say is WOW! So delicious! We ordered egg foo yung. Easily the best we have ever had. Thick, full of veggies, meat and seafood. The brown sauce was so flavorful and complimented the dish perfectly. Not too salty. We also ordered the house mu shu and it was incredible! Came with 4 pancakes. Huge servings on each dish. Our server, Ling, was so sweet and very attentive even though the restaurant was busy and there was a constant flow of take out orders. I walk in and the dining room is very tiny and definitely family owned just coming out of covid. It is being run by one female who I assume is part owner as she was doing everything except tha actual cooking. I got the beef lo mean lunch special. It was choice of soup (egg drop), white or brown rice, egg roll or xrab puff (egg roll) and you meal. Honestly the food was pretty good and the price with just the meal and a water came to $8.97. Now the bad is that everything, and I do mean everything is disposable. I figured it was cause of covid, but they didn't sanitize anything really. She did do the tables wheb people left but that was it. She didn't do the chairs, the soy sauce containers. Or literally anything else. It did take away from the meal a little. New to the Neighborhood! - Me that is. I moved down from Oro Valley less than a year ago and have been so busy unpacking and donating and downsizing, but I need places to meet my cravings. I enjoy trying new places but let's be fair- I'm Asian so I lean that way a lot. Tuesday night I needed to pick a few things up from the grocery store and decided I would take a ride around the area to see what was a available for some very foreseeable cravings when I pulled into the Safeway parking lot on Grant and Silverbell and saw the "Open" sign over New Asia. I was not particularly hungry but I'm also able to put away more than someone my size looks like she can put away- So I made myself a deal- if they were open for another hour I would try it if not- there was no reason to rush it. I can come back another day. It was 2030 (that's 0830pm for all y'all that are not military or familiar with 24 hour system). They were closing at 2130. So I had an hour to try this spot out. As I walked in, I noticed that there was only one table occupied. Which always worry me, but it was a midweek night. The ladies at the register-which sits right upfront by the door- are very attentive and friendly. They seat me right away. I looked over the menu which is very Chinese American - your common offerings of what we consider Chinese here. I like it all the same. Good food is good no matter what you call it - as long as it's good. I order myself some Szechwan Vegetables; Walnut Shrimp; and Hot and Spicy Soup. I know - very generic but what wrong with generic? I eat these dishes often. The waitress was super nice she came by several times to see if I was ready and took my order very efficiently and made appropriate conversation- Where was I from and how long have I lived in Tucson. She shared that she is indeed from southern China and go back about one a year to see family. I really appreciated it since I was dining alone. Furthermore, she was also busing herself sweeping and cleaning surfaces as we talked. I really like a clean restaurant and the only way it will be like that is if the staff It was even nicer that the food came out very promptly and I was able to eat. There were no surprises. Which is a very good thing when you eat generic food. The Hot and Spicy had a little more black pepper than I expected. The Walnut Shrimp was of good size and the portion was reasonable for the price. Overall, I paid about $25 for all three items. Here's my breakdown: The Hot and Spicy Soup was on the peppery side but delicious. It was the consistency of soup and not sauce as I have experienced in other places. It was of the right light brown color had just enough tofu and bamboo to make it tasty. The Szechwan Vegetables were yummy but not spicy enough to be called Szechwan, but I remedied that with chili oil and paste. Here I will add that the white rice they served me with my meal was perfectly cooked. Extra Fluffy and pillow-ie soft without being mush. This is a high praise from me because I am sensitive to these things. Overall, I have announced to my family members that I have food my pick for the neighborhood Chinese joint. I have been to Mei Mei, on St. Mary's and Dragon View on Bonita - both a little closer to my house but I will be here at New Asia for my Chinese cravings. read more
