I'm really glad I found this store. They had things I needed that Tractor Supply and another feed store didn't carry. The layout is beautiful and the store is appealing and spacious and smells like clean leather. There's lots of free parking. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Horrible online experience. I ordered helmets 9/23/22 online along with a sherpa jacket. I received one correct helmet, along with two incorrect items: the sherpa jacket in the wrong size and wrong color and a helmet that was an adult medium in a child medium box. I called and was told to ship them back and explain on my return what was wrong and they would send the correct items to me. I still had not heard anything on 10/25/22. I called and was told they could track the order and it was delivered to their address but they hadn't located it at the facility to process the return. She said she would send an email to escalate this and have them find it in the next day or two. I called a few minutes ago (10/28/22) and a different service rep tracked it again and said it was there but not processed. She mentioned that an email was sent today (10/28/22) to a service rep manager (could have been a returns manager??) to have them find it. The rep acted like I had just called this am and was calling again same day to ask the same thing. I told her the call was from several days ago. She acted like I was making that up as the notes were on the account from this morning. She then proceeds to tell me that all the service reps work from home. At this point, I tell her that the rep must have forgotten about it until this morning. I ask to speak with a supervisor or have her reach someone in the building to locate the package. She says there is no direct number to the warehouse. She finally said she would have a supervisor call back. Also, she mentions the sherpa that I originally ordered and they fulfilled incorrectly is completely out of stock. Of course!! I ordered it over a month ago! I will never do business with them again. I am still out $450 for items I don't have and who knows when I will receive them or have this problem actually addressed. Go elsewhere. read more

I only wish they would carry flaxseed and msm. I need to go elsewhere for these supplements. But the return policy is fantastic! read more

I LOVE going to Dover when it's time to stock up or replace my daughter's worn riding gear. The salespeople are always so helpful and so polite. Not an ounce of pretension there. as a kid and even to this day i look forward to getting the new dover catalog so I can drool at the beautiful horses impeccably groomed wearing the newest kit! It's great that I actually love within a reasonable distance to a brick and mortar Dover - as the shipping charges online is WAY TOO MUCH, and unusually don't order from them bc of that. Plus the online has more sales but you lose anything you might have saved from item being marked down in paying for shipping ... So you don't really win. Well one time I did order from the catalog and when I got the product it was not how the catalog described it as so I contacted the online store and asked if the store took returns (answer: yes. But in reality; no) so I didn't have to pay the return shipping. So I found myself at the store. The store has a bunch of stuff don't get me wrong, but I find the layout a little funny. I can't find specific things because they are on top of something else - a display of saddle pads with a shelf thing on top of it for other saddle pads- ones not displayed lower. Lots of the half pads were hiding behind other ones you couldn't see unless you moved. Please just merchandise the store a bit better! As a result of the disorganization I found myself contending with, I had to track employees down who were standing on their phones behind the register (pet peeve! I don't care if you use your phone, surf the Internet, paint your nails etc just so long as it's not taking away from helping the customer. ) to help direct me to things, and the answer I got most from the girl who helped me was "I don't think we have it" did not offer to see if the store actually had it or not. I bought some items and presented them with my return. The cashier said she didn't know how to do a return from the website so she could not do it. Having worked retail in my past , I know it's a crack situation when you aren't trained to do the one thing the person wants you to do. I asked if there was someone who could possibly help her and she said "no, but we open tomorrow morning." Hmm. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Im lucky to live in an area where there's a few choices for tack stores. I'm used to horsemans outlet near my work which imo is the best (see review) so perhaps I'm a tad biased. And I find every one at beval to be very good. Dover does carry some brands that the other stores don't - ie dy'on, ogilvy, der dau, so I still go here quite often At the end of the day, it is still a chain, but good selection of items and clothes. I still prefer to just look thru the catalog as opposed to purchasing from the store as the sales girls are hit or miss read more

I have a love and hate relationship with this store. They have a very wide selection of apparel which was great. I also bought a nice saddle pad and some polos. The girls there were nice and helpful. However, one of the workers recommended these awfully thick stirrup leathers and I bought them. Let me just say that these made my tacking up experiences so unnecessarily stressful and painful!! I need to go and return them..hopefully it's okay still. read more

Went there today with my wife to exchange a pair of Arait boots which didn't fit correctly. Becca was our service person, and could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Made several trips to bring out different sizes and styles for my wife to try on. During our conversation, we found out that she had been with Dover for several years and was the store manager. My wife had meet Becca on previous shopping expeditions at the store, and she has always been very helpful. An exchange and purchase was completed today because of the excellent customer service we received. Thanks. read more

Disclaimer- this is regarding the D.S. website policies I have been ordering from them for years and I used to give them a grade of "B", but they seem to have changed their shipping prices. Two summer shirts, a pair of lightweight summer pants and a plastic clip racked up standard shipping over $20! I asked them about it, and was told they're sorry I need to purchase from a competitor because I can't afford it, but they do have sale catalogues. /fp. The items would have fit in an envelope and couldn't weigh more than two pounds! I was astonished at their response. I ordered the same things via Amazon for two day shipping at $6.99. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Besides the unnecessarily overpriced items, I don't mind the store itself. What I do mind, however, is the employees. I've been going to Dover for years, but in the last couple of months I've paid attention to the behavior and attitude of the staff. Some of the staff are completely unknowledgeable and untrustworthy. I've had several encounters with certain employees that have proved their incompetence and unreliability. Most of them are unimaginable gossips. As a customer, I was provided with false information and incredible details of events from an employee, that she apparently heard from one of her superiors. This situation pertained to one of the riders at my barn. I brought this up to the person involved and they explained to me what truly happened, completely different than what was said. The story I heard was exaggerated and contained several details that had never occurred. The fact that I, a customer, heard this from a store employee is absolutely insulting and unacceptable. Although not all of the employees are this way, my recent experiences at this store are extremely unreasonable and demeaning. Let me be very clear, I do not only value the quality of the products at a store, but the environment and attitudes of the staff, as well. I would like to encourage all to acknowledge my experience and I will emphasize that I will NOT be shopping at this store with these employees ever again. read more

I visited the store this weekend with my 13 year old daugher, looking for tall riding boots. The sales clerk looked at my daughter (who is petite) and said "that's not going to happen" she is too tiny. Two other sales clerks joined in to say how this was not even appropriate, as she would likely be excused from a show if she did wear high boots.My daughter went to the car and cried for 15 minutes. Certainly not the place to be bargain shopping for anything equestrian related.... Go online if you want discounts... However, I must say that the gals at this store have come through for us TWICE in helping to size my impossible-to-fit tween into tall riding boots. She is a size 8 foot with a 12 inch calf!!! The girls sized her, very patient, brought out lots of boots at different price points...they were very focused on getting the fit right and not just getting her into the most expensive boots avail. In the end, we purchased a pair that was on the high end, but not as high as custom, and got lifts to make the fit just right. They definitely know what they are doing at this store, and making the trip saved us from what would otherwise have been a TON of shipping and return costs. read more
