On 6/11/25, I dropped off, in Ellsworth, a linen tablecloth I inherited from my grandmother in 1989. I returned a week later and was told it was not back yet and I would receive a call when it was ready. After no call, I went by the cleaners a week later. Then, I was told it was missing but they were looking for it. The third time I went by, I filed a claim on 8/1/25. At that time, I was promised a call by the next week. Still no call 2 weeks later so we stopped by again. The manager said they still had 2 locations to check with. Really??? Now, 8/29/25, still no contact, nearly a month after filing a claim and 11+ weeks from my drop off date! Professional? I don't think so. This is a very cherished, sentimental item, not a shirt that can be easily replaced. Sorry to resort to airing "dirty laundry" here but my patience is exhausted.

Greasy restaurant rags that local spots are too cheap to job out. Finally, this place is so terrible that they don't empty their coin bins regularly. If the bin is full, the machine doesn't accept more coins. More money? Nah, we don't care about that. It's our Bar Harbor Loss on the balance sheet.

This was a rarity (going to a laundromat, that is), but I had two extra-large comforters needing a…read morewash that simply would not fit well into my washer/dryer at home; so, off to the local Bucksport laundromat, which happens to be Gold Star Cleaners. I got there around 8-ish in the morn, and the place was empty -- except for one woman who told me she put $4-worth of quarters into a machine, but it wouldn't take any more quarters to hit the $5.50 wash amount; however, at that time, no one from Gold Star was on the premises to assist her and she couldn't wait till 9:00a when the cleaners open. (I couldn't only give her my sympathetic acknowledgment. I, fortunately, had no issues with my machines.) The exterior is not the most inviting; however, it's merely a laundromat, so I suppose the homely façade is par for the course. Inside, it's bright and relatively sterile-looking. Very clean (from my cursory glance of the place) and tidy. Apparently, this particular Gold Star location recently got an upgrade on their equipment, and it shows. Everything looked shiny and new. The machines I used (mega-washer and mega-dryer) were brand new, as well, and supported credit cards, on top of the usual quarters/dollar bills. The mega-washing machine's display showed an amount of $11.25 (which I presumed was the price to use). Having not been to a laundromat since I was in my 20's (when it was WAY cheaper!), the price displayed was what it was. Fortunately, I could use my credit card! Exactly 25-minutes later, the two comforters were washed. With the mega-dryer, the price was $0.25 per 4-minutes. For $3.00 I was able to get both comforters dried -- which I thought was a bargain! (Later, when I checked my credit card transactions, I was only charged $5, rather than $11.25. I'll take that!!!) In wrap-up: Other than its nondescript exterior and sterile-looking interior (which I see as a plus!), I had an uneventful experience at Gold Star Cleaners in Bucksport (which suits me just fine), and will definitely return when I need to use a laundromat again.

I pulled up by the door to unload and while gathering coins and personal items a rather large angry woman walks up my to my car and aggressively knocks on my window and callously says move your vehicle. I attempted to say I needed to unload and I'm on crutches and she interrupted me and says move it. I have six more loads of laundry with me but I'll opt to take the rest to blue hill. definitely not worth coming here again and I would never recommend it to anyone else!

ok the same guy owns this one owns the Stillwater location. first off : no restrooms! none at…read moreall! then there's the fact that if the owner is there at the time, he will literally sweep up against your feet like he has ocd for cleaning that floor. this has happened on more than one occasion, at both of his locations. he's also a bit of a starer. i can see hun watching me struggling with my laundry in the reflection of the dryer! my biggest gripe comes down to when they first got the new 60lb machines. I did my whites in them and they came out with brown splotches all over them. ruined 60lbs of whites. this has never happened to me before or since. when I brought it to his attention he says "they're brand new" insinuating it was user error. so, I asked him if anyone else complained to let me know, because I would be relieved to know it wasn't my fault. I never heard from him. Two weeks later I visited the same place TO FIND SAID "brand new" washers OUT OF ORDER. Cheap man didn't offer to refund the money I spent ruining my clothes, let alone the ruined items. Also; charges extra for hot water and heavy soil loads. Too much crap.
