I've gone twice during COVID and twice before and all four times I'm so glad I chose this dentist. It's quiet, there's relaxing music, you have a choice of pillows and essential oils, etc. I would say I have had a great, if not better, experience during COVID because when you get there you ring the doorbell, you cover your shoes with fabric covers, they give you hand sanitizer and you go right back to the chair. I'm never there more than an hour and a half for a cleaning. X-Rays are always quick and easy which is not always the case with other dentists. read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING ANOTHER DENTIST!!!!!! The staff is great, the dentist assistant was great, but STAY AWAY FROM Dr. Heckley I got my teeth cleaned here back in February, the nurse assistant was so kind and the cleaning went very well and she took x-rays, overall no complaints yet. After my cleaning, Dr. Heckley told me she would take care of my cavity and my chipped front tooth. I came back a few weeks later to have the procedure done. I was told to wait in the waiting room and they had me waiting for 45 minutes. Then Dr. Heckley brought me into her office to ask insurance information because the secretary was incompetent to have gotten all the information before hand. Then Dr. Heckley asked me to reschedule since there was no more time left in the hour appointment she had made for me. TSK TSK TSK I left that office understanding that I would get a phone call from the front desk telling me when they figured out my insurance information and they would reschedule. I waited two weeks and no one contacted me. So i decided to give them a call and once again they still didn't have made any progress and they told me they would call me back. ONE WHOLE WEEK later, no call.. SHOCKER. so, I called and Dr. Heckley came on line, assuring me that she had not seen my previous calls, because apparently someone records all the calls and she hadn't seen mine on the log. I told her when I called and she told me I hadn't called because if I had then it would be written in the log...TSK TSK TSK okay, whatever. then, Dr. Heckley took the responsibility of figuring out my insurance information and called me back that same week to set up an appointment. She gave me the quota for fixing my chipped front tooth AND the cavity she had found. I came in this morning for the appointment. I was very dissapointed after she sent a nurse over to tell me they were only going to take care of my front tooth. Dr. Heckley came over and then accused me of LYING that she had discovered cavity during my first visit and assured me that she had never quoted me on both the cavity and the front tooth. TSK TSK TSK BOTTOM LINE: Dr. Heckley is very irresponsible with her planning and scheduling AND the front desk needs to do a better job at contacting insurance companies!!!! read more

This place is incredible! All these years I spent uneasily anticipating an awkward dental visit (forced conversation, HGTV, harsh sterile white and beige everything) was apparently for absolutely no reason. I could have instead opted to come here for a complete spa experience. Seriously. Relaxing music. Eye pillows. Hand pillows. Neck pillows. Soothing whispers only when needed. Aromatherapy. A constellation room at the end that allows you to be in almost complete darkness, just you and your seemingly really expensive really awesome massage chair for 15 minutes. If you don't like massages you can opt out but... why would you do that. I left with whiter teeth and a happy peaceful state of mind. If you're someone who has any stress at all in your life and want to find a way to incorporate peace and relaxation into your commonplace events, Downtown Dental is it. Enjoy!? read more

Really great dentist and staff- they have always treated me very well. The spa amenities are great- there is an awesome massage chair, hand massagers, herbal tea, eye pillows, etc. (all free!). Dr Heckley is amazing and so is her staff. I have been going there for a couple years now and have never left feeling anything less than thrilled. She makes all of my other previous dentists look like fools. :-) Her office is kind, relaxed, and incredibly personable. I really recommend her office to anyone seeking a new dentist. I have never written a review on here before- but I feel very compelled to share my experience with others that may be looking for a dentist in Bloomington. First of all, this was the second dentist I visited in the area. I went to Landmark Dental first and they tried to convince me I needed a ton of dental work and charged me for things that I never knew I was getting charged for. They were horrible. When I called Downtown Dental it was lunch time and the secretary was out of the office, so the dentist herself answered the phone, scheduled my appointment, and answered all my questions. Before my appointment the office manager worked with me to inform me on exactly how much my insurance was going pay and how much I was responsible for. On the day of my appointment everyone in the office was so kind and comforting. The dentist was gentle and took a lot of time explaining everything she was going to do since I had never had any serious dental work done before. I have never been treated better at the dentist and hope that everyone will consider giving this small local office their business! They deserve it. read more
