The room was heavily deodorized to mask a problem. The applied scent bothered me. Luckily the windows could be opened (but only a crack). The true issue was with a mold issue that I couldn't see but could smell. I also got flu-like symptoms from it. The paint on the doors inside the room was sticky to touch too. I could hear traffic on the busy road near my room. Finally, the breakfast was lousy. The oatmeal was undercooked with a slimy liquid. Very disgusting. Box eggs and cheap salty sausage. The best thing was the prefab tater tots. I see that a fellow Yelper complained about a mildew smell 12 years ago!! So this issue has been ongoing. I learned that the night social only happens at this location on Wednesday nights. Final word, I wanted to make my own pancakes from scratch in my room until I saw the frying pan that the hotel provided in the room. Burnt, scratched nonstick pan. I would never use that pan. Anyways we were nervous almost backed out after reading them the night before our stay BUT we checked it out and loved it! The rooms are so clean and comfortable. It didn't smell which is always a plus. The bathroom was clean as well, and water was hot The beds were white, which is a must for me and comfortable. The staff were very kind. The continental breakfast was nice nothing insane but many options to grab muffins fruit bagels cereal and more! Even uncrustables pb&J for this kids. You can eat your breakfast outside and it was beautiful. Birds and trees. Upstairs the view we have is beautiful as well Spacious fridge with freezer and actually cold inside ! Pool is great and open 7a-10p We came here for a gymnastics camp at UNH right down the street and Dunkin' Donuts and CVS is in the plaza the hotel is in. A two minute walk. I pointed out that the name on the paperwork was different. They said that was fine. Booked us in. SIX hours later as we are falling asleep they wake us up, say we don't have a room and kick us out. Not a sorry. Not an offer to help find another spot. Then when my bf tossed the keys on the desk he was told the HE was rude. I do apologize if he was a bit out of line but the business practices here are disgraceful.

My friend decided that her first tea was enough for the day and was given a tea bag of her choice to take home. I noticed that the decorations had changed since my last visit, which gave the place a different vibe. It felt like visiting a new tea parlor. This time, instead of soup, we were served a salad. It was a good salad. I requested honey for my tea, as I saw others having it and it was not on the table. I did not particularly care for some of the tea sandwiches offered this month. The rest of the food, and particularly my scone, were good. I would come back again but will pay close attention to the menu offered.

Garrison Hotel, Dover NH…read more Visiting a sibling and her family during the December 2025 holiday season, I booked a room at the Garrison Hotel & Suites Dover-Portsmouth, an Ascend Collection Hotel in the Choice group of hotels (Room: $110; Taxes and other charges: $9.93). This will be my fifth stay at the Garrison, which I have selected because of its close location to my sister's family home in Dover. The hotel has consistently proved to be a good choice. The room was clean, well-furnished, and quiet throughout my stay. The front staff members were alert, helpful, and easy to understand. There are an indoor pool and a fitness center, and a grab-and-go breakfast was offered (although I had an early departure, so I declined the offer). Making and confirming the reservation was seamless and problem-free.

She was so gracious when dealing with a family with a messy baby and toddler. The family did a good cleanup, but she let them feel that they weren't a burden and did the left over cleanup and seemed genuinely cool with it all. So this wasn't my baby, but you know the vibes all round make you feel good. She deserves a raise! There are long term guests living there, but I don't feel uncomfortable around working class people or poor folk, coming from that socio-economic bracket originally myself. No issue with bed bugs at all and I'm a New Yorker so I'm experienced with those buggers. Amazing staff, comfortable room, great location, inexpensive, next to Sol Yoga (95 degree y'all!), great neighborhoods for a jog, great Thai food at Thai Taste- 5 minutes drive away, clean and warm enough pool. FANTASTIC stay!

If I could give this place zero stars for this review, I would. Honestly, I have stayed at this…read moreDays Inn several times over the past thirty years, the last time was 6 years ago. Up until this last visit this past weekend in August, I found the place to be a great value for the money spent. Rooms were clean, and the common walkways and parking lot were also well kept and clean. However, this past weekend we were there for three nights and perhaps management has changed, but this was a different experience, all negative. First, the parking lot was strewn with cigarette butts as were the common walkways to get to the rooms. There was a strong smell of urine in the common walkway area, so bad that we had to hold our breath as we walked up the stairs to get to our room. Note that three nights at this place cost over $360. At one time smoking was allowed at this place but it became smoke-free a while back. Our room, though, smelled of stale cigarette smoke. It was a smoke-free room, but one could tell that the cigarette smoke had seeped into the walls and furniture. We had to buy two room fresheners to offset the smell, but it was still pretty awful. We tried to change rooms to the enclosed pool area, which had about 12 rooms that were separated from the outside room walkways. That pool area did not have that urine smell, but we were told all rooms were booked. We thought about cancelling the remaining nights and going to another place, but all the motels/hotels in the area were booked, so we were stuck. The condition of the room was less than desired. The carpets did not look (or feel) clean - we walked around in our flip-flops so our feet would not touch the floor. The bed spread had threads coming apart from it. We checked for bed bugs and found none, so that was a plus I suppose. The bathroom was very small, there were indented holes in the wall from the bathroom door handle hitting it over the years, and the walls were dirty and looked like they hadn't been painted in years. Suffice it to say we will never stay there (or at a Days Inn) in the future.
