Not up to the standard I expect from Homewood Suites. The main issue was with odors in the room and the hallway. The hallway smelled liked a burnt Teflon pan. The room was heavily deodorized to mask a problem. The applied scent bothered me. Luckily the windows could be opened (but only a crack). The true issue was with a mold issue that I couldn't see but could smell. I also got flu-like symptoms from it. The paint on the doors inside the room was sticky to touch too. I could hear traffic on the busy road near my room. Finally, the breakfast was lousy. The oatmeal was undercooked with a slimy liquid. Very disgusting. Box eggs and cheap salty sausage. The best thing was the prefab tater tots. I see that a fellow Yelper complained about a mildew smell 12 years ago!! So this issue has been ongoing. I learned that the night social only happens at this location on Wednesday nights. Final word, I wanted to make my own pancakes from scratch in my room until I saw the frying pan that the hotel provided in the room. Burnt, scratched nonstick pan. I would never use that pan. We really enjoyed our stay here. We have a little one so the first thing I did was check the tub and it was super clean so I felt confident bathing him. The room was clean and big and we loved having the kitchen. We really enjoyed the breakfast and Beth was so lovely and sweet. Darlene was also super helpful and nice. Only thing we didn't like was the pool and jacuzzi were really dirty. Otherwise we loved our stay! read more

I do love this hotel especially since we have been to a few and we think Manchester isn't clean at all..so this one starts as cleaner than that..however the toilet didn't flush and would get clogged even with nothing in it. The room is a little smaller than some of the ones we have slept in. The breakfast isn't that great but not too bad either. My son really likes the fruit..also I like that there is warm food etc. I do think the pool and jacuzzi is really great..however the pool is a little colder than I like and weirdly shaped but it is not bad at all. For what it is (a chain hotel in NH), this was actually a pretty good hotel. Prices were reasonable, check in was easy, and the place is nice enough all things considered. Was staying here for a wedding, and it did the trick. Rooms are the highlight, as the setup with a desk (important to me for work), a breakfast nook, couch, decent sized bathroom, and pretty good bed was great. Rest appreciate the layout and amount of space. Only gripe is why the light for the bathroom is outside the door, which I kept forgetting throughout the stay. Only spoke to attendants when arriving/leaving, and they were friendly and efficient. Tried to find someone post-wedding to buy some stuff, but nobody around so I took it and dealt with it the day after. Didn't try the breakfast as I was told it was nothing to write home about. Stayed here on a college trip to visit UNH. Let me start by saying that it was a beautiful room we had, there were two separate rooms and a lovely view. I started to get concerned when I'd call the front desk numerous times and no one picked up a single time. I was having issues with the wifi and neither of my keycards were working earlier. So naturally I called and when no one answered, I went downstairs to get help from the front desk and no one was there. A woman came out but she was really unhelpful. There were hardly any staff (except for a man named Carlton at the front desk who was a big help and a true gentleman). The bathroom smelled really weird and the towels wreaked of sweat. There was no conditioner and obvious mildew in the shower. The breakfast was absolutely horrendous-- slimy oatmeal, watery eggs, french toast that was raw on the inside, and turkey bacon that had a yellowish hue to it that tasted like dirt. And, oddly, only one tv remote worked and you had to hold it exactly three inches from the screen for it to work. There were also random rips and brown spots all over the ceiling?? Strange experience and I wouldn't go here again. It's not the worst but genuinely just smelled bad and there was no one to help with the issues I was having. read more

My family and I stayed for two nights as we helped our daughter move in to her apartment near the UNH campus. We know due to the pandemic things have changed and the safety and health of the guests and employees are paramount. Our issues were as follows: 1) There was clear evidence that the previous occupier of our room had digestion issues and the toilet had not been cleaned. 2) We left the notice outside our room requesting more towels and wash clothes prior to leaving for the day, and when we returned in the late afternoon, the notice was still there and nothing had been delivered. We had to go to the front desk to ask. 3) The only toilet paper in the room was on the spool and it was very low. We didn't realize this until it was too late. I would go down to one star but like I said, I understand there is a pandemic and things have changed. read more

My first time staying at a Homewood Suites, stayed here for three nights. My room was on the third floor - room 328 as I recall. Lots of space, it was nice having a kitchenette, but in reality I only utilized the full-sized refrigerator. You also get a two burner stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher, plus a small assortment of dishes, glassware, and utensils. The small living room area had it's own HD TV and couch and the bedroom also had an HD TV - with a few HD channels. Both rooms had separate AC units and AC controls. I had a hard time with the AC controls, the controls did not seem to function well. I'd set a temperature and then come back and find that I'd have to reset the temp several times to get the AC to kick in. My biggest complaint during my stay was the bathroom. It smelled strongly of mildew. The first morning, I mentioned this to the front desk staff. When I returned later in the afternoon, they had done something about it as I could no longer smell that mildewy smell. However, the next day, the smell returned. I advised them of this upon checkout as I was leaving the hotel. They offer free Wifi - both ethernet and wireless - which is nice. They included a Gigabit Ethernet cable at the small kitchen table which doubles as your desk space. They also offer free breakfast and dinner. On two different days, I attempted to have breakfast - but there was almost nothing left to eat - I'm assuming I needed to get there earlier. I never took advantage of the free dinner - but I did manage to snag a slice of garlic bread during their Lasagna night to snack on while I was waiting for my work colleague. There is also a pantry down by the front desk that offers an extremely limited selection of cold bottled beverages, snacks, and toiletries. If you need a better selection, you would be better served by visiting the Walgreens and/or Rite Aid Drug Stores - a couple of miles away off of Central Avenue. If it were not for the persistent mildew smell in my unit - I would have rated this Homewood Suites with four stars. read more

One of my favorite things about this chain of hotels are the free cookies - they're always delicious. The room was clean, large, and had everything I needed (including a fridge and microwave). The shower had hot water with a strong flow! Overall an awesome experience - add to that the free hot breakfast and dinner and cookies and you have the perfect hotel chain! read more

This is one of the few decent accommodations available in Dover. The staff does try hard to make your stay comfortable, but I often get the feeling they are understaffed and strained. FOOD: Homewood in general seems to have undergone a change in their operating style. Few years ago you could expect a hearty dinner here on Mon-Fri (things like beef brisket, pastas, soups, salads, stuffed cabbage, grill items etc) Since last year it's just window dressing cocktail items like little crackers and cheese. If they would replace the free cheap booze with more substance to the menu it would make a big difference. PARKING: Be aware of relative lack of parking. During the evenings, the entire hotel parking lot is full of cars from Margaritas ( a restaurant in same lot). There isn't even room to park your car in the driveway to check in. This can be a nuisance when you are on an extended stay and have to drive around for 15-20 minutes looking for parking like it's NYC. HOUSEKEEPING, especially on weekends is totally hit or miss. GYM: is rather Spartan with two treadmills and an elliptical. No free weights. Despite its shortcomings, the positives (pool, breakfast, recent addition of charging stations in rooms, courtesy shuttle) more than make up for them. There really aren't too many alternatives in Dover. This is evident by their often sold out status, so even if they don't do a single thing to improve, they'll stay in business. If they improve it will certainly help the Hilton brand in general. read more

I've stayed at this hotel twice so far. Each visit has been pleasant. The staff is attentive and friendly. On my last visit, I realized I left my credit card at home when I got to the hotel. I had just flown in from a red eye, sleep deprived and physically worn down. I called my bf and he said he'd come by with his card after work, which was about five hours away. I know I looked like a mess when I told the front desk this. The girl in front told me that it would be no problem and that I could wait in the dining room and grab breakfast if I wanted. I was prepared to wait in that dining room until my bf got there, but to my surprise, she came back and told me my room was ready and to just check in when my bf got there. I don't know if she knew how badly I needed to shower and lay down, but I really needed that. Hospitable service that was greatly appreciated. Two problems I did have, though, was that we had made reservations for one queen sized bed, but when I got to the room, it was two full sized beds. They apparently made some mistake in their system and sold our room to someone else. It was a tight squeeze for my bf and I. It was a bit of an inconvenience. The housekeeping also isn't quite consistent. One housekeeper would be thorough, while another would leave things a bit unkempt in the kitchen area. read more

The front desk staff seemed nice and accommodating, but the rooms, while at first glance appear nice, on closer inspection are rather dirty and untidy. There were crumbs in the kitchen and hair in the bathtub - GROSS. There was only one large drinking glass in the cupboard which was next to about 6 smaller ones. (Don't they do a "quality control count" or something?) Also, the beds looked like they were made in a rush and were rather sloppy in appearance. I hate to say this, but I have experienced much cleaner and neater rooms in a Motel 6. Finally, the suite I stayed in smelled of Indian food (which I love, but cannot stand the after-stench of Indian cooking). Totally unacceptable for a hotel room. I hope the management reads this and makes some changes in the quality of work their staff provides. What I experienced was a total shock, especially for a hotel named Hilton. read more

One of my favorite Homewood Suites. It just opened last year and it is clean and friendly. The rooms are nice - two large beds, a nice living room with leather furniture and a nice desk for working. Fairly common for this chain. One thing that I liked with this specific location was the wireless service. Many other Homewood Suites you have to plug in to get the internet. Wireless and a nice comfy leather couch - ideal! The downstairs lobby is nice and serves breakfast and manager's dinners like other Homewood Suites. Another benefit to this location is Margaritas Mexican restaurant, which is in the same parking lot. This location is also close to the highway and just a few exits away from a shopping center. Good central location puts me in Maine in just a few minutes, but not too far away from the action down in Boston. read more

We have been to this hotel as a family several times while visiting family in the area during the Nov/Dec holidays. My uncle got us a discount on the stay as he is an employee here. That being said, we are a family of four and can sleep in one room with one bed for the boys and one bed for the girls. There was a kitchen and living area and one bedroom. We took advantage of the breakfast every day and it had hot and cold food that was pleasing to everyone. All the employees were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. However it does need a deep cleaning at crevices and at junctions of walls and floors. The indoor pool was nice and the hot tub was relaxing. It was a small pool but we had it mostly to ourselves and it was before COVID. There is a Mexican restaurant right across the parking lot so we could enjoy a few drinks and walk back to our room without driving which was awesome. Almost forgot, they had a Thanksgiving dinner the night before Thanksgiving for all the guest which was pretty cool. read more

I just finally checked out after almost a year. They are great at treating you like family. The food every Monday to Thursday is always delicious and Friday to Sunday there are plenty of places to go to right down the street or margaritas in the same parking lot. As a Diamond Elite member, I stayed at this location on several occasions while traveling for work and wasn't impressed with the quality of service I received. I had several issues with the front desk not following through with the shuttle service to schedule pickups as promised, and found the staff to be somewhat unprofessional (getting too personal with guests-calling them by their first names, making inappropriate comments in the lobby, etc). I will not be saying at this location anytime in the near future given the choice. read more

We stayed on a weekend of some girl's softball tournament and drag racing - - how's that for a combination. We went to Lake Canobe Amusement Park. Easy to find off the main state highway - - not far from anything - - yet in a pretty peaceful area; in fact, it is right next to a equine hospital. The hotel is in nice condition and share the parking lot with a Margaritavilles (sorry bad spelling). Staff is super friendly. The breakfast is o.k. My wife dug the waffles!!! No problems what so ever - - my wife even ask for a late check-out with they gave us. Location is fine as there are plenty of seafood restaurants within a 30 minute drive. Enjoy. read more

Service, service, service :) The employees here make THIS the hotel to stay at. I stayed here for a bit on business. There's almost a never a wait to get your room key, after a few visits they will know your name by heart and have all your information on file. They welcome me based on my Hilton Honors status. The rooms are clean and the cable is fine. Dinners are good and the alcohol is a plus. Gym and pool are always clean. Newspaper in front of my door every morning. What stands out the most (and the reason for the 5 stars) is the service. It always feels like you're coming home. First, Stacey [Front Desk]: Very sweet, always takes the time to get to know the patrons, will ask you how your day was, knows about your family, and really cares. She can take care of any problem in an instant no matter how small. She actually fixed my shower herself because the maintenance man was gone. Will go out of her way to provide you with amenities not expected of any hotel. Wendi [Dinner Preparer]: She's the type to scold you for not eating more. The food is as delicious as hotel food can really be. It's kept hot and served with ice cold beer or wine for free. She will know if you have kids and how old they are. Ask her for cookies and she'll keep them fresh for you :) Alyssa [Front Desk]: Very efficient, the fact that she works overnight does not stop her from getting stuff done quickly. If you need anything in the middle of the night, even if it's ice cream from the freezer, she's on it. Others: These girls stand out, but everyone does their part to make your stay comfortable and homier. My husband and I used to love coming here. We haven't been in a year and decided on a quick getaway. First, we were put in a handicap room. I don't like stand up showers plus only one setting worked. Second, we were put in the room on the other side of the elevator. Third, the double charged me and the manager up front was the rudest person. She laughed as my husband and I walked away after confronting her about it. Staff use to be amazing this girls was terrible. Breakfast is gross, eggs aren't cooked, juice is watered, etc. The only plus would be there is a lot of cool things in Dover but won't stay here ever again. read more

Homewood Suites in Dover was a perfect place for our guests to stay for our wedding. Wendy, the event planner was so easy to work with. She always responded to us quickly and we were able to check in periodically to see how reservations were progressing. She calculated the number of rooms we needed just right! The front desk staff were great too. They helped answer any questions and addressed our guest's needs. We had absolutely no complaints from anyone!! The van service to and from the ceremony was so convenient! The van also took people downtown and picked then up throughout the wedding weekend. For couples considering Homewood Suites for their hotel room blocks, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere in the Dover area. The experience that my husband and I had, along with our families and guests, was very poor. A large group of us had been setting up at our venue the night before the wedding and were staying at Homewood Suites. Before our run through ceremony and rehearsal dinner, we were planning to shower and get ready at the hotel. As the bride, I was late to my own rehearsal dinner because I was not authorized to enter my room, despite my mother calling twice beforehand to make sure I was authorized. I sat in the lobby by myself until my mother had to drive to Homewood Suites and authorize my entry into the room, for the third time. I ended up being late to my own rehearsal dinner. Not wanting to extend my tardiness and have our guests waiting, I chose not to dry my hair (this was November in NH - cold!) or apply makeup. I will never forget the stress and disappointment that this experience created on the night before our wedding. However, there was more disappointment on the day of our wedding. As guests were checking in, there were all sorts of problems with their rooms. A family member who requested a non-smoking room, with 2 children under the age of 3, was brought to a smoking room. Another couple entered their room to find suitcases of other hotel guests already in the room! The list actually goes on, but I'll stop here - aside from one last bit of advice, do not get the breakfast. The breakfast was the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. Luckily for my husband and I, our wedding was still wonderful due to the phenomenal venue and other vendors we worked with. Choosing Homewood Suites was our biggest mistake, and I hope other couples look elsewhere so as not to spoil their wedding experience. read more

If you want to know what kind of hotel doesn't let you check in 45 minutes early after you've just arrived from a 6 hour car trip, I have your answer. This one. The woman at the desk was not nice. She acted as though I tried to check in at 9am. It was 2:15. This happened on a Monday mind you, not a weekend. And there wasn't a soul in the lobby. Maybe she legitimately "didn't have any rooms ready", but her attitude and tone suggested she just wasn't an accommodating or hospitable person. Not a good combination in her line of work. I stay at this hotel 2-3 times a year. I'm not sure it's worth the extra 50 bucks a night anymore. Broken coffee maker in room, Dixie cup sized coffee cups at breakfast with no lids, no tub in my room. It's usually clean, and has spacious rooms. Really the only 2 'perks' here. I notified the manager and have yet to hear back. Just really unprofessional for a chain that otherwise has a decent reputation. read more

I usually stay at the Hampton inn down the street but I didn't because it's being renovated. So I tried this place it's a nice hotel. Big rooms! Has a mini kitchen with a little sitting area off the kitchen and then a bedroom and bathroom of course. Pool and hot tub were nice. Only complaint was it was a little dirty maids can easily fix that by being a tad more caring and the 1st night I turned on my ceiling fan and dust started going everywhere so I turned it off and on the top of the ceiling fan was dust all over it! Called the front desk and the quickly cleaned it! Overall good stay. read more

We chose the Homewood Suites for our wedding weekend and were beyond impressed! We worked with Wendy the manager and her team a year in advance to plan for the big day. Homewood Suites served many purposes for our big day. We blocked off rooms for the weekend for our guests (over 75 guests stayed at the hotel!), used the patio area, banquet room, and seating area for our rehearsal lunch the day before, and used the hotel as the "getting ready" location for both my husband and I on the wedding day. Wendy and her team answered all my emails and questions promptly and assured me that all reservations were set. I even stopped by the hotel multiple times during the planning to see rooms and the area where we wanted to grill food and have our rehearsal lunch, and was always greeted with a smile from the staff. When it came time for check in on the wedding weekend things went incredibly smoothly! All our guests raved about the clean, fresh, comfortable rooms and amenities, and not to mention the extremely helpful and kind staff! My husband has been staying at this hotel almost every other week for a year and said it was a great place to stay. He should have waited to make that decision until he stayed longer than a week! This hotel is less than stellar. We have been here for 6 1/2 weeks and I am ready to pay the extra fee to change my airline tickets and go home early. I don't know if I can stand another week and a half in this hotel. Their housekeeping is pathetic. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. If you don't leave your room early, they don't bother to come back to check to see if you've left so they can clean your room. Then when you tell the manager (Scott) about it, he blows smoke up your butt telling you that his housekeeping manager will personally check your room every day to see if it got service when desired. But that doesn't happen. Then when they do come in, they only leave 3 towels (because that's their policy) but we have a family of 4! I had told them over and over we needed 4 towels, we kept getting 3. The rooms are all suites - kitchenette w/dishwasher. Housekeeping hardly ever RUNS the dishwasher, even if I load it. And God forbid emptying it. We've been here for 6 1/2 weeks and they have emptied it ONCE! Sometimes they just re-run it when it is clean. Seems to be the only time they actually run it. Then they don't always leave soap for us to run it ourselves. Do you want a CLEAN kitchen towel and washcloth? Buy your own. Paper towels and TP run out. You might want to get that too. You might not get refilled. Since we are here for 8 weeks, the kids and I don't always leave all day long. This means we eat more than one meal a day in our room. Don't bother to try to keep some extra silverware or dishes in your room. When housekeeping does come in your room, they will make sure they do TAKE everything except a serving for 4. Funny... they can't leave 4 bath towels but they can make sure you ONLY get 4 spoons, forks, and knives!!! This means if you eat breakfast, you have to wash your dishes if you want clean ones for lunch. Then you have to wash them again if you want clean ones for dinner. Now let's talk room charges... sometimes they let my kids room charge in the little store, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they let my kids use my credit card in the little store, sometimes they don't. Tonight they wouldn't even let ME room charge! I have been here for 6 1/2 weeks and I have JUST NOW been told that the card on file is NOT for incidentals!!! Geez... why has it been over the past 6 1/2 weeks???!!! It's clean. I will give it that. Except for the floor in the laundry room. Don't go there without shoes on. And they don't vacuum much in the rooms or the lobby. The beds are okay. They have great channel selections on the TV. The TVs are nice. But the internet connection is slow and spotty and frustrating after 6 1/2 weeks. There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the entire hotel (4 floors) so if you have to do laundry, be prepared to juggle time in the laundry room. But if you are going to stay for a long time, find a different hotel. This one might frustrate the heck out of you. I am very displeased right now. read more
