On a clear day, you can see Palos Verdes Peninsula in one direction and the Malibu coastline in the other. The surrounding promenade is lively and well-maintained, perfect for a walk, bike ride, or just relaxing by the beach. There are plenty of great restaurants, cafés, and shops nearby, making it easy to turn a simple visit into a full afternoon or evening outing. Parking can be a bit tricky, especially during busy times. There are metered spots available, along with nearby lots and street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. The pier itself is also home to the Roundhouse Aquarium at the end. Dogs are not allowed on the pier.

The little aquarium at the end was small but really cute, and it's free (I LOVE free!!). Nothing over the top, just an easy stop while you're out there. The pier itself has plenty of room to walk or sit and zone out a bit. I spent some time just leaning on the railing, reading a few pages of my book, and taking in the ocean. I even spotted dolphins in the distance, which honestly made my day. Watching surfers paddle out toward the waves...and in the direction of the dolphins... it felt like such a classic California scene. I left feeling lighter than when I arrived for sure!

There's a real chew here--a springy, structured bite that gives just enough resistance before yielding. It's deeply satisfying and makes every dish feel more intentional. The cappelloni shows it off best: that almost-famous sauce wraps around each piece, but the pasta holds its own, so you get that perfect balance of silky and structured. Same with the tangiello--the meat sauce tastes like it's been simmering for days, rich and layered, but the noodles never get lost because that chew carries through. The Caesar isn't an afterthought either. It's got a subtle spicy kick that wakes everything up, and if you add chicken, it's done right--well-seasoned, nicely grilled, juicy with a bit of char. It turns a classic into something you actually remember. Dinner is where things go a little heartier, and the pork chop delivers. Fall-off-the-bone tender, but still full of flavor--not just soft for the sake of it. Jame just gets the fundamentals right, then pushes a little further. Thoughtful, textured, and the kind of place where even the chew of the pasta becomes part of the experience.

I was impressed with the clean and modern look of Jane Enoteca from the moment I walked in. Their dishes consist of several handmade pastas, salads and Italian inspired comfort food. My friend and I chose to start our meals with the Meatballs and Brussels Sprouts. Being a Brussels Sprouts fan, I really enjoyed their roasted crispy Brussels sprouts that were tossed in schiaffoni dressing and finished with sesame. Equal in deliciousness were their Meatballs. The Meatballs were tender, rich and saucy. These starters were a great way to kick off our meal here. For our mains, we got their Paccheri Lisci and Tonnarelli. The Paccheri Lisci had a bit of a spicy kick to it. It has spicy pork sausage sugo, fennel, sage and pecorino. It was meaty and flavorful. The Tonnarelli or Cacio e Pepe contrasted nicely with the Paccheri Lisci. This pasta dish was simple, sharp and peppery. This was more bold versus saucy. Last but not least we had some cookies for dessert. I loved the fresh baked snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookies. It was a sweet and perfect ending to the meal here. Overall, I really enjoyed dining at Jame Enoteca. I am now looking forward to trying out their sister restaurant Jame Taqueria down the street.

The atmosphere was relaxing, charming, and exactly what we were looking for. I absolutely loved the restaurant's interior design. The large windows offered beautiful views outside, creating a bright and inviting ambiance. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but since it was a cool and cloudy day, we chose to sit inside and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent. The Garlic Bread ($9) was delicious, with a perfect combination of cheese, herbs, and sauce. The Garozzo's of Kansas City Sausage ($19) was flavorful and satisfying, served with roasted peppers, onions, and polenta. The Roasted Beets with Chicken ($21) was beautifully presented and tasted fresh and great. The highlight of the meal was the Lasagna ($29)--rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. To finish our lunch, we shared the Tiramisu ($15), which was the perfect ending. The service was outstanding. Our server was friendly and attentive. During our conversation, we learned that the owner also operates Slay Steak + Fish House and a French restaurant. We had actually dined at Slay Steak + Fish House previously and thoroughly enjoyed that experience as well. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Slay Italian Kitchen. The combination of great food, warm hospitality, and beautiful ambiance almost made us feel like we were enjoying a leisurely meal somewhere in Europe. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and look forward to returning soon.

I was surprised how pricey their pizzas are. The Chicken Parmigiana Pizza sounded unique, so we decided to try this one. It has fried breaded chicken breast, fresh basil, and mozzarella. There were small pieces of scattered chicken parmigiana across the pizza. They were very thin pieces, and it mostly tasted like end pieces with a lot of batter. Pretty dry too. There was also zero basil on the pizza. Thought it might be hidden under the cheese, but it wasn't there either. Pretty pricey for what you get. The pizza took a really long time to make considering there was only one other person waiting for their order. I think they forgot about us because it wasn't until some time after the other person waiting had left that they asked us if we were waiting for an order. Once we got our pizza, it was super hot. Beware, don't just bite into it right away like I did and burn yourself! There are some tables in the back where you can eat your pizza. They have a few TVs, but when we were there, they had the read aloud setting on...but it was on the movie selection screen, so it just kept saying the same one liner in a robotic voice over and over again. Pretty annoying. Several employees walked through the area but didn't change it or turn off the TVs, so I'm assuming they're just used to it?
