I loved the Happy Hour prices on beer, cocktails, and appetizers and that the times were until 8pm for those specials. I had the cordon blu chicken sandwich and my aunt has the ahi tuna. Both were really good. We had the chips and queso for an appetizer. All good. Our waitress was nice and helpful in allowing me to taste two of their brews before deciding which to get. Wow! What a great lunch we stumbled on to here. We saw the menu board outside which caught our interest. Walked up to the window to look at the menu. Lots of choices so we decided to try it. Stopped in here for lunch on a Thursday before matinee show at Tennessee Theater. They were about 1/3 full and sat quickly. They had very reasonable lunch specials. The food was okay today. We got Santa Fe quiche and the Hot Club Sub. The quiche had good taste but was not as firm as I would expect a quiche to be. The Hot club was not very hot but had good taste. They had pickles on the side and the juice from them made the bottom bread a little soggy. Services was it was okay it just didn't wow us. There is a large wood bar in the center of the room downstairs. Yes, they have a second floor that is open to the downstairs. I have never experienced service so terrible; Sunny, was extremely disappointing. She never put our appetizer order into the system, so we never received it. It took over 15 minutes just to get our drinks, even though our order was very simple. Throughout the meal, our drinks sat empty, and she never once came by to offer refills or check on our table. My mother in law asked for extra mayonnaise because Sunny had forgot to bring her any after being asked. Sunny came to the table and threw the saycer cup with mayonnaise on the table causing it to slide towards my MIL. To make matters worse, Sunny stepped on my white shoes and didn't apologize. Instead, she stood on my foot for a moment without acknowledging what had happened. Basic customer service and common courtesy were completely absent during our visit. Overall, the lack of attention, poor service, and unprofessional behavior made this one of the worst dining experiences I've had. I hope management addresses these issues so future customers don't have the same experience. I am so displeased with this service I decided to do my first review to tell people to avoid this restaurant. Mediocre food and terrible service. This was my first time going to Woodruffs in several years, and it somehow got better!! The food was wonderfully priced- I had the fish sandwich for $10 and split the pretzels and beer cheese bites for $6 during their happy hour. Our service was attentive and quick as well and we had no wait! First time here. Ordered the onion rings app because I spied someone on the outdoor patio with them as we walked in. For entree I got the fish & chips and muh lady got a baked potato and pulled pork sammie. For brew I chose the Alt German style malt beer ...I don't like hoppy beers and many of the other choices were just that or actually bragged about their "bitter" flavor . The Alt was very smooth and hit the spot. The onion rings were maybe the best I've ever had and I'm 66 ..sooooo? Give these a solid "10" ...great side BBQ sauce for dipping as well. The battered cod (3 pieces) was just as terrifically fried as the onion rings with a very crispy outside batter with moist inside ... and the filets were quite large . Strap on the feed bag. The Cajun tinged tartar sauce was a very good addition and not too spicy. Give the fish a "9". The "chips" ?...well ...they were just their basic America style seasoned french fries. This fish deserves an upgraded larger cut potato with no seasoning since you have the tartar sauce. The Brits are apparently big on par boiling the potatoes to loosen the starch, cooling, then deep frying to get a premium crispy final chip. I know that's a lot of work for a busy kitchen but maybe at least order some steak fries from CISCO to get this closer to the real thing. The chips get a "3" for total lack of imagination .We were too full for desert ...plus there's a Kilwins down the street.. hehe. I sampled the gf's pork and it was very well smoked and tasty . The baked potato was very large and perfectly baked.. Solid "8" for her meal. Our server was Ash and she was aces . Kudos to her for putting up with my Dad Jokes. What a great option to the overly expensive and hyped restaurants on S. Gay St!!! It's a big bar with bar food PERIOD! It was a pretty busy Saturday night but the were able to seat us right away! Nestled in downtown Knoxville, we stopped by here for an early dinner. Inside gives a very rustic feel. Huge bar in the middle of the floor with seats surrounding and an upstairs that has seats along the perimeter. In the back, are the barrels where they brew their own beer. He's friendly without being obsequious, he's attentive without being too much in your face. To the management: As long as you can, keep him. He's a gem. This place has a huge menu. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of good to say about it. We had a couple of appetizers: chips/salsa and pretzels with cheese. The chips were ok. The salsa tasted like Pace Picante off the shelf. Pretzels were very meh. For an entree, I had the chicken salad sandwich and fries. The chicken salad was super dry and chunky. More like chunks of chicken with mayo than true chicken salad. The fries were pretty good. I had their avocado ranch with it. The dipping sauce was the best thing. My son had the kids cheeseburger. I got a blonde ale, and it showed up crisp and cold. Their food runs the gamut between fish, beef, chicken, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, and yes, there are gluten-free items, too. Something for everyone. Benjamin had a hotdog. There was one hitch with our dinner. If you order onion rings, be prepared to wonder where in the heck they all went. They were very sparse in the little cup that they were served in. Maybe 7 were in there, and two of those were no bigger than a marble. My parents brought me here since they were here in August and loved it. The waiter we had was on his second day there and he did a great job for only being there for two days. I got the steak fajitas and it was underwhelming. It didn't come out sizzling, and the steak was very rough to cut or chew. My sister got the grilled chicken mesquite and it was huge with a nice taste to it. It's basketball game day at UT so it was covered in orange in the restaurant. We visited on Sunday night following our arrival in Knoxville, and we returned for a second time on Monday for more of the same exceptional food and service. This restaurant and brewery features an affordable and adaptive array of food and beverage we're not accustomed to in visits to similar cities. The bistro setting lends itself to both sports bar fans as well as diners who would rather not be bothered with TV. I think the key element of this establishment is the service. Everyone who works there seems to appreciate their privilege of service. Through two dinners, we were stunned by how selfless and friendly the staff treated us. I've been here a couple times now and overall really like this space. For dinner, we sat downstairs, had the Spicy Rooster Pizza. Our server was awesome and suggested his favorite way to eat the pizza (it was great, but you have to get that advice directly from him!). I tried the Downtown Brown Ale and the Downtown Blonde. Both great beers. The upstairs is fun, less quaint, more college-bar feel the time I visited. It was hoppin and vibrant.
