Mug club tripled in price. Prices up by 20%. It's good, but not that good. Heart breaks to say that a 3yr regular just got priced out of the game for a not-local beer shop. read more

What an absolute blast of a place to hangout at! Finally came down and checked out this bar and couldn't have had a better time! There is tons of space on their wrap-around deck with seating and walkways along the railing if you prefer to hangout outside, and if you're more in the mood to sit indoors, there is plenty of seating inside as well. You'll have tons of options for beers, and the staff here couldn't be more friendly. Outside, there is even an outdoor stage environment where they host local events and entertainment. Love this place! Such a large, open space with fun games that has a rooftop patio, and both indoors and outdoors are dog and kiddo-friendly. They host quite a bit of events and activities, including trivia, markets, etc. The restaurant downstairs will bring you food to pair with the fantastic beer on tap. SouthCoast pizza is also a few doors down. To top it off, you can enjoy the locally-created murals on the walls and the fantastic service from the bar staff. Two thumbs-up, y'all! Having taken countless trips over the mountains to Asheville, I was excited to hear HiWire was coming to nearby Knoxville. This venue is a wonderfully raucous beer circus. The noise level will tell you that much and don't be surprised to let out a mild shout occasionally. However, they have plenty of patio seating lining the back side of the building to relax. The beer menu can be seen as soon as you enter and their brews are a welcomed sight in E Tennessee. Their IPAs are stellar and they pride themselves on their lagers. Not as many dark beers but they will certainly have time to rotate the list. The "bed of nails" brown is a standout in my opinion. They also have a few Togo package beers available also. My group enjoyed the ping pong and footy-billiards in the open area. I spotted a few disc golf baskets that will get some use in the coming months as well. No TVs but I've heard they will break out a projector for the Saturday College football crowd. They have a rotating food truck schedule so that will solve the 4th beer weary eyes situation. I don't frequent breweries often and wanted to kill some time on a Wednesday afternoon at 6 PM and had my dog with me so I decided to go have a beer and hang out for a little bit. There were about six people in the entire place and the environment looks pretty nice and I bet it's cool when there's a lot of people. I got served #1, a lager, and asked what sizes they had and I went with a 10 ounce. The standard size is a pint. But was a bit taken aback that the 10oz was $8. The beer was good but it wasn't eight dollars worth of good and definitely not for a 10oz. I just hate feeling like I got robbed. It doesn't leave a good impression and I will not likely be coming back. The gentleman that served me was not very friendly either. And didn't even acknowledge my dog or asked if I wanted a water bowl for my dog. I had to get my own out of my car. read more

First - they have a TON of beers. I'm an IPA guy. I love the fact they have several different IPAs on draft - all pretty delicious. They also have coolers of canned beers available for purchase. Prices are similar to stores like Kroger that sell Hi-Wire around Knoxville. During COVID, it seems like they're taking all the precautions: there are 6-foot distance markers on the floor when you're in line, plexiglass at the bar between the customer and the staff, and everyone is required to wear a mask unless you're at your table. They have a large indoor space and 2 separate outdoor spaces. Finally - they use a really cool app called "arryved" that you can download to your phone. It links up with their point of sale system. Once you set up your profile and enter your card information into the app the bartender just needs your name in order to add your beer to the tab. Whenever you're ready to close out you can just do it through the app. LOVE Hi-Wire's beer. So thrilled they're in Knoxville. read more

An actual brew pub, but honestly family friendly. Not your typical snotty, "we're cool, don't you wish you could be' Honest to gosh, I was dragged here; but once you walk in, it's amazing. Product quality is very good, huge selection with ABV clearly displayed so you know the buzz factor and can make smart decisions;and guys behind the bar truly know their product...and family friendly? I had trouble deciding 4 or 5 stars. I was close to going 5, based on the "it is what it is" philosophy- meaning I don't judge lunch diners the same way I do a high-caliber full-service swanky restaurant. In this case they don't have food offerings but after all it's a brewery NOT a restaurant. So anyway I went with 4 since some breweries do have great food and some have at least snacks (which they may have but nothing special, I don't think). However,- it's very easy to order from Redbud, downstairs, and Redbud is pretty awesome. All that to explain why just four stars when there are so many positives. Great variety of beer types, great wide-open space (even the most covid-careful folks could go there and keep good distance the entire time) and great staff, always friendly and helpful. They seem to have activities just about every evening-- although we've usually been there when they were just setting up for music, or trivia nights, etc. I don't know if they have happy hour or specials etc. but I hope to go again and find out. read more

I'd had Hi-Wire before, them being one of the top tier breweries outta Asheville. I knew once they popped into Knoxville, the quality would be there. They carried over the wealth of selection, and I love that they keep with the seasonal selections. If you're a heavy beer fan, it's hard to go wrong with the 10W-40. Gotta say, I am blown away by how massive the space is. There is plenty of room to bring a lot of folks, or have some alone time with your sweetie. They also have a bunch of different games to play, including my new favorite: soccer pool. It's level of difficulty is pretty high, but it's such a great bar game to play. read more

I absolutely love this tap room! Every time I visit, I have a great experience and the beer never disappoints. My favorite part of visiting is how friendly the staff is and how they remember me! I live in NC, so it's refreshing to visit TN and have friends that remember me and love talking with me. Lesley, the manager is especially friendly and always asks me about my life and how things are going. She definitely knows how to make a customer feel warm and welcomed. Max is another bar tender I've seen here for many years and I love his fun personality and it's so nice to see familiar faces. First of all, this is a great place for young people who aren't going to get out of hand with beer-drinking. It is a place for engaging with people and having fun. I had two flights (four 4 oz. each) of varying brews and liked them all. The bartenders were helpful and polite. They don't serve food, but have food trucks after 6:00 PM, which makes the place DOG FRIENDLY! The facility appears to be and old warehouse. Concrete floors and a range of tables from seating two to eight-ish. There are foosball tables, ping-pong tables, and a very interesting-looking thing called soccer-pool. It's a wooden frame with six soccer-ball sized "pockets." There are balls marked up like billiard balls and a cue. It's got astro-turf, and is about 6' X 15' or so. I intend to try it out on my next trip there. read more

Hey Hi-Wire management, I went to your location in south Knox tonight. I am part of a social and charitable organization (that I won't name here. However, it's organized through facebook and we have 6,000 members. The only reason I mention our membership is because we have shirts with your sponsorship on the back. I just joined in March and got my first shirt late spring. On our organization's website your sponsorship and discount is listed for all 6,000 members to see. There's was a small gathering at your facility tonight for the ladies in our org, approximately 20-25 people. Several of us wore our t-shirts with the understanding that the discount was still intact. When I asked about the half off monday through thursday on pints (per the discount agreement), I was told that deal was no longer available. Why should an organization with 6000 members sell t-shirts with YOUR HIWIRE LOGO on the back not qualify for a discount that was agreed upon between HiWire and our organization?? I will wait until our group makes new shirts WITHOUT HiWire logo on the back before wearing one in public again. Also, I lived in Asheville when HiWire first opened. I was a huge fan when you all opened a location in my hometown of south Knoxville. However, now that I have had such a poor experience with HiWire, I will be taking my south Knoxville beer business to a true local-- Alliance. read more
