The room smelled strongly of mustiness. The beds are hard. Picture every horror movie that involves a motel, that's what it is.

Beds comfortable Free breakfast good quality Friendly desk staff and breakfast staff 1 star for the above mentioned issues 4stars for the dates of May 7 and May 8 2016 It appears the renovations are complete and our rooms this stay were as nice as the remodeled rooms of two months ago upstairs! The breakfast bar is still the same which is better than many hotel offerings out there. But the front desk has to be commended for the excellent service to their guests. While I have had an issue or two with each of our last three stays I keep going back because the management team makes you feel important and want your continued patronage. This trip our rooms weren't ready for a 3:00 pm checkin, not until 4:00 pm, no big deal we were going to run and do some shopping at Jays and Walmart anyway. But then when we were called saying the rooms were ready we wanted in. We were encouraged to park at the side entrance close to our room but then none of the four key cards would open the door. New ones made and after receiving the explanation of how to juggle the handle after the light turned green it worked???? Why doesn't it just work? Then the MOD watched as I tried opening the rooms and only 1 of each set worked so we made another new set. When delivering the new keys she couldn't have apologized more fir our inconvenience and also explained that she called the manager, Heather, to let her know what had transpired. Heather then comped our stay and offered her apologies as well. They also called in the maintenance man to fix door properly and we never had another issue. I love this place, the people, the pool and its proximity to freeway and dining are all great!

There are some serious violations involving smoke alarms at this location that have me concerned…read more I am grossed out at the age of the room and the sticky, musty vibe. Stained bedsheets, uncleaned showers, hairy floors. My allergies spiked when I entered this room and dissipated when I left, and I think it was the air circulation system. My other concern is the smoke alarms. Kidde Firex 41216 gc dual ionization smoke alarms. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years, or more if it is in a hotel to maintain guest safety. This alarm should be tested once a week and cleaned at least once a year. This smoke alarm should be pure white in color, and instead it is yellow and faded. I wonder if this means this room has been a smoking room in the past. It is unlikely these smoke alarms have been tested. The smoke alarm in my room did not blink, which could mean either the light is out or it is not connected to power. I like Hilton in general. The staff is nice, the breakfast was nice-ish, but there are some serious things that they need to fix.

This was our first stay at a Tru hotel -- and we loved it! Having travelled for work quite a bit…read moreover the years and experienced different brands, I've been very happy with the Hilton brand for decades. I find Tru to be a lively refinement of the traditional hotel experience. The color scheme of the lobby sets Try apart from other Hilton brands. Fifteen years ago, I enjoyed the minimalist theme of Four Points by Sheridan, but today I feel Tru by Hilton is more energetic, sophisticated, and more on point for me. While I think Tru was intended for young travelers, I feel Tru suites me in my early 60s. I very much liked the complimentary breakfast better than what is served at a Hampton Inn. I liked the pancake machine over the waffle maker. The Lavazza coffee was a welcome feature too. The rooms are a bit smaller, but still comfortably fit a king-sized bed. There is a small refrigerator, but no microwave. Exposed rods, pipes, and pegs replaced dressers and armoires. The shower was full glass with TWO glass corner shelves, so for a change I didn't have to store my toiletries on the floor or bend over to pick up them up. If you need a microwave, there's one in the lobby at the snack counter. The rooms and lobby were CLEAN. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Overall, the…read morehotel is pleasant and clean, although the color scheme is somewhat unusual in the lobby and exterior. The lobby is geared for activities, with a pool table, plenty of seating variations and a circular front desk area with drinks and snacks available for purchase. The complimentary breakfast was nice overall--basic eggs (or equivalent), sausage, cereal options, yogurt, pancake machine, juices, bagels, etc.. Coffee and tea are available 24 hours in the lobby as well. My king bed room was clean but on the small side, with just walking room around the perimeter of the bed. There are no real closets or drawers, just open racks and table surface. The bed was comfortable and bedding/pillows were good. The lighting in the room could have been better. The bathroom was clean, offering soaps, shampoo and body lotion in pump bottles. The shower was glass enclosed but leaked all over the floor even with the door closed tight. Water pressure was disappointing. I thought the hotel was relatively quiet, but one of the guys in our group said he could hear the people above him walking around in the middle of the night and it actually woke him up. Overall, the stay at Tru by Hilton was nice as expected. The staff was friendly and efficient, hotel seemed clean and the room was okay as well. There was really nothing that excelled in any way though, which is why I give it about 3.5 stars.

This weekend, I went skiing at two awesome ski resorts with my dad, named Treetops and Otsego Ski…read moreresort. Otsego was even funner than Treetops. It had a café, five individual lifts, plenty of fun trails and a massive terrain park. The café at Otsego was a very nice one, and had a large fire which was great to come into on a cold day. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there for too long, and therefore couldn't see too many things that they served, but one thing I know was that the hot chocolate is great and the candy bars are delicious. The trails at Otsego were also great, but had a bit of a higher skill level. They had a few easy blues and greens, like Für Elise and Alan's alley for begenners, but no bunny hill, a load of blacks like waterfall and master's, two steep duo trails that me and my dad very much liked and even a few fun double blacks like Bob's Glade, a exciting and adrenaline-giving slope that emptied out into a easy green. The terrain park was also super fun, with gigantic jumps that sent me very high up into the air but no rails, which was ok but not as cool as it could be. The only rail I could find was a few rotten blocks of wood that someone had thrown together and then left to the power of the forest.

Our room was comfortable enough but outdated as were the exterior and hallway finishings. We were attending a conference and every staff member we encounter was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't mind dining or attending a conference here again but will find other accommodations next time.

Our room had a bay window with padded seats. I'm picturing how much fun a little one would have sleeping there. We just enjoyed the view. The bed was comfortable and the bath/shower facilities were more than adequate. Excellent shower pressure. The cable selection was terrible but not a big deal for us. The hotel is in a great location. Right off the highway and near the only Tim Hortons for 50 miles! The staff were extremely friendly and had easy access to things like a mop for our sticky floor, or batteries for the tv remote. The place even had a door in the back for our convenience. I hope we can stay here again. 06/23

When we arrived we were so tired. We couldn't argue with the desk clerk, so we swallowed it. The next day we will complain to the manager, Michele, and she blew us off. Should expect to have a runny nose while they're there as I did. There are nicer places in Gaylord. I recommend one of them. The room that we had was in perfect order and clean. The staff reporting to the manager were all respectful of us.

This place was obviously a well-loved mom & pop hotel at one time. It's a little worn around the edges now, but I had an acceptable night's stay there. Pluses: 1) They have hot water radiator heating system, and while it took a while for the room to warm up, I like water-based heating systems when it's cold and dry out. 2) It's reasonably priced, maybe $10 cheaper a night than big chain hotels. 3) The decor was subpar but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Minuses: The "continental breakfast" was a wrapped donut and bad coffee, and the room & service are stripped down and basic. There is a TV with cable, but no in-room coffee pot, for instance. Bottom line: You can probably find a cheaper Mom & Pop place nearby or pay a little more for a chain hotel, but this place was fine in a pinch.
