My husband and I stayed in Room 204 on July 16, 2026, on our way back from Mendocino. While the room was okay, we had major issues with the electricity in the bathroom, which kept flickering on and off. Because of this power shortage, the coffee machine didn't work either. Due to the darkness and faulty lighting, my husband slipped and fell while taking a shower, injuring his elbow and getting blood on the comforter. We mentioned the problem to a housekeeper when leaving in the morning, and I tried calling the front desk yesterday to follow up, but no one answered, and they never returned my message. I hope management addresses these safety and electrical issues immediately. read more

I absolutely would never stay here again. Checked in around 430, walked right in to see personal fluid on the bed . Looked like the cleaning crew truly just remade the bed from the people who stayed there before me. There was no toilet paper. The shower backed up to almost my ankles. I told the guy who was working and he got me a new top blanket and said nothing else can be done till the manager shows up the next morning. The manager agreed to switch my room. I went to the very next room across from the hall and the toilet broke every time I flushed. I had to rehook the flap every time! They say you get what you pay for. JUST DO NOT EVEN PAY TO STAY. Go somewhere else. They have one ice machine. That has no ice. lol. The guy at the front desk has his wife sitting in the lobby all shift, as they face time with people and make people wait. I booked at this motel in Gaylord from the nights of December 22nd - 24th, 2023. I used Gaylord as my hub for day trips to the Upper Peninsula, Petoskey, and Boyne. I paid $62 per night here, booking through Expedia. For that price, the rooms are very nice. They're clean, modern, and vibrant. The breakfast here has a waffle maker so that was quite a nice surprise. The lobby also serves free coffee. My criticism is that the beds could have been better. Gaylord also does not have much to do, and it's just an exit off of I-75. If you want to save money going up north, this is a good place to stay if you don't mind driving a little bit. read more

Probably not the poshest of them all, BUT!! They do offer pet friendly accomodations, so yes. We do like it here. Two queen beds, big enough for 2 people. There's a desk, a dresser with a TV on top. A closet area to hang our hangables. There's even a mini fridge and microwave. Bathroom has a tub and shower combination. The toilet has seats and it flushes. Sink and giant mirrors to watch myself brush teeth and fix hair. Btw, the breakfast has been upgraded since last time we were here. I think about 3 or 4 years ago. Pancakes, scrambie eggs and sausages hits the spot. Plus we're going to need all the body fuel if were gonna go hard on the slopes. Thank you so much for reading my review. We picked this hotel over another one from this chain in Gaylord because it had a swimming pool -- a request from our two 10-year-old boys. The pool was conveniently closed our entire stay. When we got there, our room key didn't work, which I can only guess was because the girl working the front counter was too stoned to program it properly. The smell of marijuana was so strong on her I most certainly got a contact high. Apparently she had to put out her joint to help someone else who was traveling with us whose room keys also did not work on the first try. Wondering what you'll get if you stay here? Imagine if someone had a hotel that hadn't been updated since the 70s. There you go, you're probably picturing this one. Our bathroom door wouldn't close fully without forcibly pulling on it with all of your weight. The shower never stopped dripping and the ring of rust color in the tub gave us an idea of the water quality here. The "desk" with chair provided no room between it and the bed, so you could barely move around the one bed. Our room butted up against an outdoor walkway where a light turned on at 10 p.m. with the same intensity as a supernova and shined through the window shades that didn't close properly all night long. I can only guess the walls are made of tissue paper, because you could hear every sound anyone made within 300 feet of our room, which was super convenient because we brought our dog with us on this trip and he thought all the noises were awesome. I'd recommend not staying here. I've heard that many hotels in Gaylord are awful, but the Tru Hotel on the other side of the highway looked new and modern when we visited some friends to swim in their pool. read more

Worst ever. The staff ranged from apathetic to aggressive. We were directed to entry (#3)-no exterior light, completely busted out lock on outer door and card entry system on inner door did not function. This was at the back of the lot, right on the freeway ramp. 2 box trucks sat and idled by the dumpster,also conveniently located nearby, as an additional affront to security. The overnight clerk was apologetic and said she would notify maintenance but could only blink when asked if she thought I believed this was a recent occurrence. The room seemed clean enough, very dated. Built in desk/ dresser hardly allowed enough room to get past the bed. Pool was ok, sort of grimy surround, some part of the hvac system had a screaming grinding fan. The hot tub was literally green. I made the mistake of asking the breakfast attendant a question-I should say I attempted to ask since as soon as she was approached she became defensive and starting yelling she was the only one there and she was doing both! Arrived late afternoon only to find that our room had not been cleaned from the last guests. Walked inside to a mess. We alerted the Manager and she summoned the cleaning crew which was a family with a kid. They gave us another room 149. The hotel went through a tornado 2 years prior so remodeling was happening. If management is reading this, FIRE the remodeling people. Doors would not open or shut. Bathroom door only opened half way. Shim the damn doors! Someone has no clue. Room smelled of smoke. Breakfast was a disappointment but Burger King is walking distance. Not staying there again. read more

I'm not sure where to begin. we had a room booked for the 6 of us, 1 king, 2 queens. it had 2 bathrooms, but one only had a dim light with a fan and a whole where the one above the sink used to be. There were pistachio shells near the bed, a dirty sock under the bed. it was filthy. The beds were far too soft. This room should not have been rented at all. In the hall near the ice machine smelled like garbage. The hot tub wasn't operational. I know they were remodeling, but dang. Also the door on the side of the building never locked and we felt unsafe. The breakfast was blah!. No need to stay there. other options are available and have to be better. read more

The hallway rugs were taped together, hallways and rooms have a musty smell. all the doors have to be slammed to get them to shut. Our room was right across from the laundry room, nothing like getting woke up at 7 am by the staff being rude and talking very loudly and yelling. The room right above me you could hear their conversations and the constant walking back and forth across the room the floors creek bad. the staff was very rude, not friendly at all. at 10 p.m. people were out back having a bbq in the back lot. My daughter and I came in after an exhausting two weeks moving out of my house. Suddenly widowed, I had to move downstate with family. We had been on the road all day, when she blew a tire on our 26' rental truck. I was driving with our dogs in the back of my car. By the time the truck was fixed, it was 11 pm, and we were 30 miles from Gaylord. I was exhausted to the point of tears. Having stayed at the hotel many years previously, I guided her in to the Quality Inn and went to ask if they had a room. When I pulled under the awning, Chris met me at the door. I asked if they had availability and took pets. He said yes to both and said, "C'mon in. Let's get you a room." When I told he and Jackie at the front desk about our ordeal, they were incredibly sympathetic. They got us a room and Chris offered to help my daughter park the truck. Once we got to our room, they came by with extra towels, in case we needed them. The hotel isn't a luxury resort, but it was kind people, clean beds, and much-needed showers. Breakfast the next morning was also terrific. My only complaint was a billing error by management because I didn't stay to checkout in person, but that was resolved within two weeks. Thank to Chris's and Jackie's kindness, I will always use this hotel when I am passing through the area and need a place to stay. read more

Out dated rooms and seeing the place you can tell it is an older place. However, you get what you pay for. The room was clean and bathroom was clean. The hotel was pet friendly which we needed so we could bring our dog. They have a pool and a hot tub. The best part of the this hotel and the reason I gave them a 4 star is they have breakfast that comes with your stay. We were thinking that it would be a cereal and milk kind of breakfast. Surprisingly it was a great breakfast with eggs, sausage, fruit, pancakes, cereal, and juices. We were so full when we got done with breakfast and were satisfied. We stayed one night on our way home from the upper peninsula. The bed was comfortable, the tv worked and it was available. I was shocked when opening the door to our room and finding a huge whirlpool tub in the room. Because of this, we had an extremely cramped bathroom. Only one person could be in there at a time. Also, there was no chair or table to relax at because of this monstrosity. We had to always sit on the bed. It was also wet inside. The carpet was filthy. After showering before bed, we had to wash our feet again. It made mud in the tub just from walking to and from the bed a few times. The pool was one of the largest and deepest pools we have encountered at a hotel. It was as warm as the hot tub. Fun, but not very refreshing. Stayed on the 4th, so I get it's a holiday, So this review has nothing to do with the workers, they were all great and awesome. First, I used the lobby restroom after I checked in and was greeted with a mouse that came out of the hole in the wall and darted around until it escaped the main door to the bathroom out into the hotel. Second, the remote in my room didn't work, after changing the batteries twice, and it still not working, the front desk person gave me a new remote that he said would have to be programmed so he didn't think it would work. He was right. I had to spend time looking up how to set the remote, so I could program it. Third, I couldn't enjoy the breakfast in the morning because I kept thinking about the rat in the hotel, and the employees were not wearing a mask.The room itself wasn't bad, and if everything else wasn't sold out I would have left the second I saw a rat in your hotel. read more

We Arrived to check in and the first room they tried to put us in smelled like wet dog and dirty clothes. the beds looked ok but there was dust and grime one the tables, microwave and fridge and used bottles of shampoo in the bathroom, when we told the lady that we were not going to stay in that room she then showed us another that smelled just as bad as she was going to show us another she was bold enough to tell my sister " Im going to show you another one down here thats why I told you to stay put". when she showed my sister the third room the wallpaper under the window was falling off and moldy. the hall was nasty and you could tell it had not been vacuumed in a while the whole place was nasty. And the woman at the front desk was truly rude. she told my sister that they would not be able to refund the money today it has to go through her GM and when my sister asked where she was she said in her office. all said and done the money was refunded my sisters were walking out and she started shouting at them about what did you expect a 5 star hotel? Wow, not impressed and haven't even checked in. Let's back up, I've tried to twice and now I'm waiting to check in 1.5hrs later. Showed up just before check in at 3:00pm. Told come back at 4:00pm and the room should be cleaned. Showed up a hour and fifteen minutes later and was told they haven't been cleaned yet. Could take up till 6:00pm. No air conditioning in the lobby and it's 90 decrees out. So sitting in my rental in the air conditioning waiting for them to call me. Yet to give them my credit card. I am currently at this hotel and won't be getting a good nights sleep tonight. We booked here because we needed a hotel last minute and this was all that was available. The room is dirty feeling, which is the least of the issues. The granite in the bathroom is falling off on one side and being held on with a piece of tape. You can see the board underneath. The shower curtain is dirty and smells like wet moldy cloth. The biggest issue is that the room smells like a combination of pee and mildew. We opened a window and still cannot break the smell. It's very stagnant and uncomfortable to even breathe. We bought Lysol and room spray for the room and it hasn't touched the issue. Would never come back. read more

Made a reservation here a week in advance and called before we left home to confirm we would have a room. We were told that we would have a room when we got there at 11pm. Pulled up at 11, only for the woman there to tell us they were way overbooked and they had no rooms available. Wouldn't have been a big deal if they were polite about it, but when we mentioned that we had called and confirmed the lady said we would've talked to her but she never told anyone they had a room available since they'd been turning people away since 3pm. Since we had called at about 7pm, we questioned why we weren't told that they were overbooked, but they dodged the question so we never got an explanation. I've stayed here before when coming to this area, but never again since we ended up not finding a place until 1am thanks to this mess! read more

On our way up north for a wedding so we booked here, which is about 45 minutes away from where we need to be. I called three nights prior and asked about early check in, he said they were pretty full but to call the day of and see as it would probably be possible. On the way today I call and was asked to be put on hold, she promptly hung up on me. Twice. When she finally got the Hang of the hold button she left me on hold for 9 minutes. When she decided to answer she literally just said hello, nothing else. Hesitantly I asked about early check in. She said this would not be possible as they are full and my best bet to not wait in the lobby is to come a while after 3 because they were "full last night". Oh. So check in is at 3, but I can't check in til considerably after 3... How many house keepers do you have, two? Her only remedy to the situation was that she would gladly cancel my reservation if that would help. I'm honestly surprised that they would be full due to the amazing lack of hospitality. I haven't decided if I'm going to take her up on her offer and find another place to stay yet, but unless this place really blows my socks off I can't imagine I'd recommend it to anyone, even someone I hate. read more

Ugh- kinda had a horrible experience here. The staff was very nice, but completely incompetent. Took over twenty minutes to check in. The reason for this is because one employee was "seasoned" and one was "new". The "new" employee started helping me (it was obvious that he didn't know what he was doing and asked the "seasoned" employee many questions), half way through my check-in process another patron walked in (with no reservation) and the "seasoned" employee then started helping him thereby halting my check-in. Another 10 minutes goes by and after waiting for them to finish helping the other patron, they finally finished checking me in. My party and I were very tolerant/ patient with the clerks even though we felt it was wrong to help the second customer before finishing up the first. Kinda the first rule of customer service, ya know? Unfortunately when they were done checking me in, the clerks didn't tell us which entrance to go in (there are at least 5 entrances to the hotel) and so we had to guess which was the appropriate entrance. Got lucky and chose the correct entrance only to discover our rooms keys were not activated. So after a long annoying wait, had to go back to the front desk again. Supposedly they fixed the key cards... or did they? Nope. Back to the office for a third time. While waiting yet again for our key cards we chatted with another family who had the same frustrating experience of their keys not working and also expressed their annoyance with the slow staff. Clearly a repetitive problem. Also- I checked my bank account before bed and saw that I was being charged $115 when the room was supposed to be $99.95. Apparently (I found out after a fourth trip to the lobby) this hotel charges a bullsh*t "county tax" in addition to the normal MI state sales tax. They don't disclose this fee to the customer when you're checking in, nor do they give you a receipt with itemized fees until you check out. When I asked for a receipt early it just said 0.00 for all fees, though $115 was already on "hold" in my bank account. Air conditioning/heating unit also didn't work properly. After much fussing we finally had to unplug it twice to get it to respond at all, though it seemed to work okay after unplugging twice. The only upside to our stay was that the recently renovated rooms were nice and new, but with all the other hassle, I likely won't be staying here again. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. 1 star for a very good reason. They Blacklisted my initial review on google. Here it is, The front desk clerk, Jennifer is extremely rude and has low patience when it comes to any issue. I reserved 2 rooms a week in advance for $230. I received an email confirmation and a confirmation number confirming everything for 2 units under 1 reservation. I had also called them personally the morning of the reservation to confirm that everything was in good to go for the 2 rooms. I hope that conversation was recorded on their system. When I asked her over the phone regarding the 2 rooms, she advised that yes, everything is good to go. When my family arrived at their location. She failed to assist in providing us the rooms and tried to charge us the $230 for 1 room. When I questioned her on this, she threw her phone on the desk and told us to leave if we are not going to take her deal. I was shocked by the poor level of service. This place is not what customer service should look like. she has clearly failed by raising her tone at a me and telling us to leave when we clearly had the paperwork to prove that we had the proper reservation. To make this even better, I called to BaymontInn 2 miles away the minute I walked out and they provided us 2 rooms for $125 each. If I was the manager of that location, I would not hesitate to fire her after what I had to go through as a customer. I did not raise my voice at her at any point, I was calm and asking her regarding the situation. Absolute shit place. read more

We reserved a suite, but there is no elevator, and my elderly mother couldn't manage the stairs. This was a perfect hotel for my dog and I. People were all very pleasant, helpful and nice. They put us in a ground floor room so this was an easy access to the car and outside to take the dog out. Room was basic and clean with microwave and fridge. Complimentary breakfast is laid out by the front desk with a great and plentiful variety of food and drinks. On a sold-out weekend, this was the only place available within an hour of Mackinac Island -- at least under $200. My reservation was butchered by a non-English speaking clerk, but the person who checked me in was able to salvage it. The rooms were old but mostly clean, with decent amenities, but the shower had mold and mildew that was literally flaking off the walls -- disgusting. With no alternative accommodations, I couldn't do anything, but I would not return. read more

We stayed here as a last resort after not being able to find a room elsewhere. Upon pulling up to the building we felt a little worried. The building could use some work is putting it nicely. Once we got to our room though it got better. The room was clean, had nice pillows, and a large fridge and microwave. They have the warmest pool I've ever been in! The hot tub they advertise however is nonfunctional. The pool is so warm though that I didn't even care. The staff all seemed friendly and the breakfast was a good variety of choices with good coffee. They need to do some work, but they make up for it in other ways. My husband and I satyed at this motal a number of times in Gaylord MI. On 01\03\2018, my husband and I checked us in, stuff hurrying us into our room, saying it was last room she needed to checked in for the night. I ofter my card to paid, however stuff said we was all taken care of. We checked out at 8:50am on 01\05\2018, the staff asked if I gotten the recent under our door, which I told her I didn't, she asked if I needed one, I said no, this staff said I was all set. After our business was taken care of in Gaylord, we drove back home to Detroit. This whole time from Gaylord to Detroit, I never had any phone service. Once walking into our home, I notice my phone had voice mail, which I checked right away. I had 3 voice mails, all from this motel, asking me to call because they could not get my card number to go through. The last message I received, was this motel threating to go to the state police. I called this motel back asap, they wanted my card number (which I understood), however they was very mean speaking to me, I tried to explained what happened, instead of listening, this lady said she was the 1 that checked us in, and hung up the phone. My husband and I will never go to this motel again. You dont threatened to call state police, when its your fault for not getting the card number right away. You need to give your guest time to get back ahold of you, there are times when someone cant call you back asap. I would never treat a guest, that tipped as well, with a cold heart. read more

I would never stay here again. The sad thing is I stayed here a few years ago and it was fine. However, this time it was horrible. My room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, and it was a non smoking room. The carpet in my room was damp, there was mold underneath the window, the shower curtain rod was hanging by one screw and the shower curtain would only hang in the middle so you got water on the floor. I paid in cash and was told that nothing would be put on my debit card and it was put on my card.
