Paid $2800 to replace a water main shutoff valve and about 10 feet of corroded pipe. No excavation or behind walls ; everything accessible in the basement . Replaced the valve and added 3 more redundant valves. The work took less than 2 hours. Plumber used crimp bands and pex instead of pro-press,soldering and copper . To me it was pricey but ever since 2020 I guess prices went up. Honestly expected to pay around 1000, but it is what it is . The weird thing is that he requested cash or Zelle only for payment . No option for credit cards or checks which was odd since every GC I hired took credit cards. While he was getting parts , I had to go to the bank and get cash withdrawals . Bathtub was leaking water and they fixed it. in about 15-20 minutes. The only issue was that they charged my mother $550 for a job that could have cost less than that (as I was told) and they were late. I spoking to a man on the phone and two different guys show up. My commode's seal leaked (on a Sunday, of course), so I used the Yelp tool that helps find quotes for your project, which led me to JP Peral Piping/Heating/Sewage. A very nice man named Anthony helped me from start to finish! He requested photos of the issues, and from them gave me advice on what to do. A few other plumbing services contacted me, too, and all gave the same advice. I went with Anthony because he got back the fastest & was trustworthy from the start (and also the company had stellar reviews on Yelp). Through the week we arranged the item I needed, I paid for it to be picked up at the Home Depot convenient for him. It was over 100lbs & I am truly grateful Anthony handled pickup & delivery. Come Thursday Anthony & his associate Miguel arrived to my home & brought the unit up my stoop + two flights of stairs, and swapped my old commode out for the new one within two hours! I have (belatedly, since I don't check yelp very often) written back saying that my review was not fake, but I admit it is possible that the technician was fake: they used the name of this company in their google ad and paper receipt, but they did not give me a phone number and since they demanded payment in cash, I cannot easily track it. (original review follows) I called in with a non-urgent utility problem, they asked for a photo of the appliance, and when I sent it they immediately announced it needed a replacement costing between 400 and 500 dollars. They sounded very confident, and I foolishly agreed on the spot. When they arrived they got the machine working in a few minutes with no repair -- and then demanded the money anyway -- asking for cash on the spot! And to top it off, when I asked them what they did to make it work, the reply was "the magician never reveals his secrets". I paid partially just out of embarrassment: I should have known better than to deal with someone who demands a big fee before even stepping foot in the building. read more

An unreliable company that doesn't honor their warranties! Stay away! I hired Peral to install a new vanity in my bathroom and fix my leaky kitchen faucet. They stood me up twice, for both appointments I had to call and ask where they were and they'd forgotten the appointment. The vanity was poorly installed with a very sloppy silicone job (photo attached) and it literally came off the wall after they left, also they reversed the hot/cold taps; they installed a new kitchen faucet and the one they put in had poor water pressure. On their second visit to fix these things they said I had to buy another new faucet and they refused to honor their warranty because they said it wasn't their fault the first faucet was defective (even though they were the ones who sold it to me). In addition to buying a second new faucet they wouldn't honor their 30 day warranty and tried to charge me $375 for their time over what I'd already paid for the initial installation (I complained and they dropped it to $300). John told me it was my fault they had to come back because "you seemed happy with the vanity when we installed it, you didn't say anything was wrong until later that day" I'm like yeah, because later that day is when it CAME OFF THE WALL. Poor workmanship. John Brought a giant cement truck through my shared driveway and smashed the corner of my garage. To avoid me calling the police he promised he'd fix it and promised up and down it would look great. Of course he Patched my woodwork with spray foam and it looks really bad. Took off and and won't return to fix. Plays head games. His favorite phrase is "I'll be there on Monday." Then two weeks later he says it again. Do you really need that in your life? CHRISTMAS DAY!!! Yes!!! they came out on CHRISTMAS DAY... within 2 hours of me calling that my basement was backing up/flooding they stopped it... on CHRISTMAS DAY!! I didn't know jack about traps or dual traps, but they were so patient and explained what the issue was and how it would repeat. I own a few properties in NJ and for many times I have been tricked or stood up by handy men... For example once Home Advisor Mr. Galen sent me some " pro" with 0 experience in fixing roofs and they even promised me that these pros have insurance and have tall ladders to climb up to my 3 floor buildings. Until they showed up in front of my property with a backpack and bare hands, I asked them how they gonna clean gutter with no tools no ladders? They said that they never did gutter cleaning before and they do not even have license or insurance... all they do in the past was assembling IKEA Furnitures! OMG...! I am so glad that I found this company " Peral" through Yelp!!! My tenant's kitchen faucet was leaking and we tried to switch cartridge ourselves but the leaking got worse, so I yelped and started contacting them. My name is Richard. I work in the commercial industry as a construction manager. I found Jperal on yelp and decided to have a boiler installation project with them. Overall, John could handle the project well, and I would recommend John to other friends for residential jobs. After a short conversation with John during the estimation process, I knew that he had an excellent understanding of the trade and that I wouldn't need to oversee the project in the house. Therefore, I would like to pay an above-average price for the project, and I think it is still worth it due to the complex conditions of the project. And John proves himself as a responsible and honest contractor by insisting on finishing his job the day after his wife gets into a car accident. But why am I giving a 5-star for the excellent job they finished? Here is the reason why. Though I have a lot of experience communicating with sub-contractors, it is not easy to have clear and distinct communication with John since a receipt is all we have for a 9k project. It is difficult to determine what is included and what is not. As the whole industry is facing a shortage of laborers and John is facing the same problem, their customer service will need more improvement to avoid potential/existing misunderstandings. For the same reason, it is also hard to have everything well-scheduled because we ran out of well-trained laborers, and the late notice of absence is not a pleasure to anyone here. read more

I had a cracked supply pipe in upper floor ceiling. They delayed several hours before showing up, I had to make them cover floors & sweep chunks of plaster before turning on main to see where pipe was cracked. They did do a reasonable job with the repair but left a soggy mess in most of the room. Owner John came few days later after I sent very insistent email but he was so argumentative, telling me I should also replace more pipes (which my regular guy who was unavailable that day said was NOT necessary). On Friday, April 17, 2020, I observed my hot water tank was leaking and began researching various plumbing companies in the tri-state area. I want to give Peral plumbing a higher rating, but they are a mixed bag. I used them twice in March. The first was to replace a hot water heater and the second was to replace a whole house water filter. The good - John is a really nice guy, though seems to be overstretched. His prices are incredibly reasonable. The people show up when they say they will, and if they are running late they call - a really big plus. No extra hidden costs. Get the job done. During the pandemic John went the extra mile to make sure I had the appliances I needed before NY shut down, and for that I am eternally grateful. He really put his all into it. The not so good - Gave me a new hot water heater that was 50 gallons to replace a 40 gallon, which I did not need, but whatever. Not a big deal. His guys installed it, and they were so busy they wanted to leave the old hot water heater full of water in my basement and pick it up another day which means don't hold your breath. I had a hissy fit and called John on the spot, and made them stay, drain the old heater of water, and take it out. I had to mop up after them, it was a mess, but this was like two days before lockdown, so we were all in a hurry, give it a pass, those were incredibly crazy days. However, replacing my water filter was another matter. I had an Aqua Pure 801 screw on head that you need to use an 0 ring wrench that was impossible to pry off. The casing was stuck on like a lock. I had it for 16 years and I could not take the thing off. John asked me to find the replacement. I am pretty smart, but that struck me as weird, since it is not my line of business to be a water filter expert, but whatever. I found an Aquapure AP 904 with a click and turn replacement cartridge that was $200 a pop, but at least no more O ring wrenches. They came, did the work, cut the pipes, mounted it to the wall with a bracket and left. And then the water filter failed after 2.5 months, though it was guaranteed for 100,000 gallons and to last a year. After reading numerous forums found out New York City water and this particular Aqua Pure filter did not work well together, and it most likely needed a pre-filter WITH ANOTHER O RING AND WRENCH, which put it right back where I started, except two filters instead of one. You could say that is my fault, and I own it, but on the other hand, Peral is the plumber and I am not. Plumbing is not my line of work, water filters is not my line of work, and knowing the specifics of New York City water ins and outs is not my area of expertise. So in sum, use Peral plumbing, they are good guys, the prices are reasonable, but nothing fancy or complex. Also be on top of the subcontracting guys, who basically do not have the same care and attention to doing a good job that John has. read more
