OK, so my Month Long Yelp continues and we're back in Santa Barbara on our way home this time. This time, we're staying at the Avania Inn. It's a couple blocks from the beach and Stearn's Wharf. The problem is that we wanted to do a little shopping downtown which was quite a few blocks further away and didn't want to battle parking so what to do? Take the electric shuttle of course! It's electric, only 25 cents and the downtown to beach one runs every 10 minutes throughout the day! The one that runs from downtown to the waterfront can be caught at the foot of Stearn's wharf at the end of State St. and runs all the way up State St. through downtown Santa Barbara, hence the name! Santa Barbara has these electric shuttles running a few different routes throughout the city and it's a great way to get around town, especially on a nice day. You need exact change on these things, so make sure you have a few quarters on you. Kids under 48" are free though. On this line, if you start out at the beach, you should have your choice of seating, but as you go further up State St., you'll find the little bus gets pretty packed with locals and tourists alike. I'd actually say that if you visit Santa Barbara, your visit wouldn't be complete without at least a short trip on one of their useful and fun electric shuttle buses.

Super cheap (50 cents per trip per person as of this review), quiet, open-air transport up and down State Street.

Santa Barbara Trolley Tour (Booked via Viator.com)…read more We booked this tour through Viator for $28 per person (non-refundable), and I have to say -- it's an affordable, worthwhile way to see Santa Barbara and Montecito if you're short on time. The tour runs about an hour and a half, narrated the whole way through. Our guide, Rusty, was excellent -- knowledgeable, engaging, and easy to listen to. He mixed history with fun local details, pointing out landmarks, residents, and even a few celebrity homes. His energy kept the ride interesting from start to finish. Pro tip: Seating is a bit of a luck-of-the-draw situation. There are about four or five seats where the window is completely down -- perfect for pictures. Otherwise, most windows stay up and only open a crack for air. If photos are important to you, get in line early so you can grab those open-window spots. It's two people per bench. The rest stop was at the historic Santa Barbara Mission. We had about 15 minutes to use the restrooms, pop into the gift shop, and take pictures of the Mission's beautiful exterior. (The church wasn't open during our visit, but it often is, so worth checking next time.) Along the way, Rusty also pointed out some things I never would've noticed -- like enormous fig trees scattered around town, a fossil of a blue whale, and even a giraffe peeking its head out near the zoo! The Spanish-style architecture throughout Santa Barbara was another highlight, and being able to see so much in a short span of time made this tour feel really efficient. Meeting & Drop-off Spot: The Garden Street Visitor Center (close to the Carousel House). For brand-new visitors or anyone with limited time, this is a perfect introduction to Santa Barbara. Big kudos to Rusty for making it such an engaging ride.

This station is at 224 Chapala Street and is a cute reddish brownish orange miniature station that serves the beach town really well. It looks kind of beach like, which is awesome, and because of this, it fits in well in Santa Barbara, which is a very sleepy town considering how crazy LA is. It closes for 3 hours a day, which is hilarious, from 11 till 2. Now that's a long lunch break! The Amtrak trains also stop here, and they have those beautiful archways and what not - it's amazing. On the way into the station, you'll be whisked past gorgeous beaches and over an amazing viaduct that literally crosses coves and beaches and rocks. It's an amazing part of the world and one which you should feel very lucky to live in. I always feel lucky to visit. They also have a Package Express service here. Barbie likes me to use my package to express myself, so here goes. Again. (pulls down pants)

When I decided to sit for a bit to charge my phone inside the greyhound building the minute I sat down the way he ask me for my ticket was beyond aggressively rude and argumentative as if he has a stick up his a** right away demanding for my ticket and name. I ask for his name, rudely and childishly but surely he refused to tell me his name so now you will be shown. I WILL NOT take grey ground from Santa Barbara again, poor customer service and delays are more likely if you got a connection. Please avoid going near the greyhound building and or inside, you're subject to a more bitter experience by this staff member!
