No. this place is nasty. we tried it after the "new owners" advertised it. OMG. the food is ungodly salty. the turkey and dressing is inedible salty. The burger was hard and tasteless. no amount of mayonnaise or ketchup worked. what I don't understand is the place is crowded. maybe we just ordered the wrong things but it was unpleasant and a burger and fries was like $10+. better places in town to eat. try Candy lady for a great burger. read more

Locals seem to really like this little diner. I spent about two hours there this morning, waiting on someone. First thing that struck me is the broad cross-section of people I saw. Demographically and socio-economically diverse, which is always good sign. Waitresses were friendly, and the coffee was surprisingly good. I don't tend to like coffee without loads of cream and sugar, but I drank this black with two packs of sugar, and it was tasty. The food was nothing memorable. I ordered a western omelet, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. The omelet was not very good at all. Too eggy -- I know that sounds weird, but let me explain. It tasted less like a blended omelet and more like eggs that had the yolk busted and then were cooked and folded around the cheese and ham. The cheese was good -- could have used more. The ham was cut into these weirdly precise strips. If you like velvety smooth, fluffy omelets, this is not the place for you. The hashbrowns were equally forgettable. Shredded potatoes that only saw a fryer for a few minutes. I used them to add to my omelet to help them both a bit. The biscuit was quite brown on top but ended up being the best part of the meal. Meal cost around $8. I might return, but it really was just so-so. Honestly, IHOP is better. read more

Great meat and three until 2 PM. Also serve breakfast. Had turkey mixed into cornbread dressing with turnip greens, black-eyed peas and great slaw. Cornbread muffins and sweet tea. One of our best stops. Across from the public library who recommended we try it when I said we like vegetables. read more

Just swung through to grab a cup of coffee while experiencing the history. Nothing special about this place, a dated little diner, but I bet its a great greasy spoon for breakfast. One server was nice, the other not-so-much when she thought I walked out without paying. Guess she should've checked the table. I did leave almost a $3 tip on a cup of coffee. As the Wendy's ad stated "Where's the beef?". I say, "Where's the turkey?" We order the turkey and dressing with mash potatoes and gravy. The middle bone of a chicken wing has more meat than what we receive. Wouldn't even fill up a fork. And where's the gravy. One mall tablespoon. This the south. And sweat tea - no way. Yankee sweat tea at the best. I don't recommend this place. I would give it a one start but the quantity was okay. Service was a "C" at the most. Cheap eats = no meat. This is one of the best restaurants in Central Alabama. It is a simple diner type atmosphere where plenty of "regulars" meet and eat- a family friendly atmosphere. If you like home cooking, this is some of the best! They offer a menu with a "meat and three" or all veggie plates, as well as salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I've tried just about everything they offer, and have yet to be disappointed. Most everyday, they offer turkey and dressing to die for! And the lemon ice-box pie will make you hurt yourself! I see some have dinged the servers... They have a dry sense of humor, and will generally bend over backward to make sure your dining experience is great! I have seen some diners get really obnoxious with waitresses, not just here but just about anywhere. Customers usually get what they send! ;) My husband and I eat here all the time, and it's about our favorite place! Period! read more
