Excellent service! Everyone was really nice. The building is old but clean. It was busy at 2 pm on a Sunday. The food was nothing to write home about, and I think 2.5 stars is accurate rating. Mr. Waffle is Awful. First and last time there was 12/15/25 and ordered Rib Eye Steak & Eggs. I sent the "steak" back as it was thin as a piece of paper and could never achieve "medium-rare" request...and being slattered with salt and Worsteshire sauce. YUK! I also ordered sunny side up eggs that were runny, hash browns that weren't cooked, and a side of raisin bread that was yummy, buttered, and great! I sent the steak back, and waitress was not offended I would not eat or buy...and recommended another local breakfast steak and eggs....I've NEVER in my life had a steak and eggs breakfast. Got a strawberry pancake and they put a big clump of butter right on top of the strawberry jam stuff so now my pancake just tasted like butter with a hint of strawberry. Got 2 egg plates and it looks like they only cooked one egg instead of two. The only redeeming quality was the hash browns and conecuh. Doubt I'll be going back anytime soon read more

This place deserves better reviews. The other reviewers seem to be missing the point... Mr waffle is not claiming to be some expensive millennial brunch experience in New York City. It's essentially a family owned version of Waffle House. They did everything well! The staff was kind, friendly, and hard working. The food is simple and delicious. Place was packed, food was pretty good in my opinion. Yes the building is run down and it was a little hot in there. But the staff was super friendly and. Mr.Waffle food was good what I ordered in the mornings, but not so much in the evening. The typical waffle, eggs and bacon breakfast was good. When it came to the evening, the meal was fulfilling except the powdered eggs which I can taste the difference from who cooked the breakfast. There seems to be a lot of people ordering and picking up food, so that was a good deal. I just wish they didn't use the powdered eggs which messed up my taste buds. The service was great, but the interior of the building could use a deep cleaning and repairs. Lighting is dim, and several ceiling tiles were damaged and discolored, which gives a less than hygiene appearance. I was there at the suggestion and guest, so I prayed that nothing "extra" was in the food. read more

Gotta agree with folks. There aren't a lot of options for food without meat in Selma, so a local suggested this place...it's like Waffle House but a little racist and not friendly. My sis and I stepped in and right behind us an old man swooped in and grabbed the seat we were headed for. The other only free seat was by the bathroom...with flies.... There were 2 other tables but they were super dirty. We overheard the owner/manager telling one of the ladies to clean off the tables, to which she said "they can sit in the back", um...you might not wanna say that to 2 black women, but whatever. We waited until one server, who seemed so overwhelmed cleaned off a table and seated us. We waited another while until we placed our order. The food was okay, but the service is horrible. Lord. If anyone wants to set up a restaurant with good food, come to Selma, you'd have customers for sure. I definitely wouldn't come back here, between the stares (I have tattoos all over) and the horrible service...and flies...and okay food....I'm good. read more

I'm usually a very positive yelper, but this was rough. First off, the food was average for a Waffle House knock off. Not great, but good on a cold morning. This food is your reward for enduring the awful view from the high bar area of the dirty grill area. The ceilings are dirty and stained and the repairs to it looks to have been made by Stevie Wonder himself. I promise I could handle all this, I really could and I've have been here several times, until i inquired about my food. 30 minutes after ordering I hadn't received anything, to which the "chef" turned around and scowled at me and said it's coming. I can handle the outdated dirty environment but at least be nice. I've crossed this place off my list. And don't forget it's expensive. read more

We arrived on a Sunday and every other restaurant was closed (besides fast food joints). We try not go to those establishments when we travel, so we decided to give Mr. Waffle a try. I had breakfast, my husband had a club sandwich. The staff is friendly, I loved the decor and signs. read more

My Dad and I stopped here recently for breakfast. The service was friendly and the food was good and fresh. I had a waffle with two scrambled eggs, and a salmon patty. The salmon patty was delicious, the eggs were fresh, and my waffle was ok. My dad had the fried bologna breakfast he said it was really good. I would definitely go again if I was in the area.
