BBQ pork sandwich with potato salad

Good down south BBQ! Excellent service and clean dining room. Wish I had saved enough room for a slice of their homemade slices of cake. Can't wait to go back.

In town for a wedding and saw Lannie's come up first and second for food in Selma. I was very disappointed with the food. The ribs were tough and chewy and for as much as I like bbq and trying different styles, I didn't like their sauce in the ribs. It was like a combination of sweet and sour sauce with ketchup. I wasn't sure if the ribs had been cooked the previous day or if I just got a bad cut of meat. The corn nuggets were the highlight of the meal.

A local favorite and must-try if you're visiting Selma, Lannie's is well-loved by Selmans and tourists alike and was recommended to us by everyone we spoke to. Their food comes out piping hot, tender and crispy! The bbq plates and catfish were a hit--side note, some of the best catfish I've had and was tender and crispy. Highly recommend getting all the sides. The fried okra was fresh and green under batter, onion rings came out golden fried and buttery moist, absolutely loved the corn nuggets too, potato salad was fresh, but on the sweeter side. Desserts also looked great even though we did not try. There is seating outside on picnic tables, but they are mainly operating curbside ordering as of Dec 2022.

This place is the real deal, authentic, delicious barbecue. We had the brisket with sides of potato salad, corn and mac&cheese. We also had the lemon pepper wings which were freshly prepared, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. BUT whatever you order, don't forget dessert! They are all homemade. We had the lemon cake and it was divine!

OMG This is the best pork BBQ I've had in Alabama, hands down! This humble cinderblock BBQ restaurant in an economically depressed neighborhood in Selma has been putting pigs in smokers and serving them up on plates since 1946. But while the neighborhood has clearly seen better days, we never worried about the setting for one minute and wouldn't hesitate to come back. I ordered the rib plate, which I expected would have 2-3 short pork ribs on it (like we get them in Texas). NOPE - this is the South, where it's ALL about the pig!! I got 4 thick pork ribs, each 7 inches long, served with delicious baked beans and crispy fried okra. Heaven on a plate! My daughter had the fried bologna sandwich. Mmmmmmm I had not had fried bologna since I was a kid, and I don't know why? This was a beautiful sandwich - smoked bologna crisped on the flat top grill, served on grilled white bread with homemade mac and cheese and green beans on the side. DELICIOUS!! They have won a bunch of awards over the years for their BBQ, and deserve every one. 5 eat here NOW stars

I ate there last night and the food was not all that good. The sides weren't nothing to talk about, the meat(chicken) was dry and inside you could definitely tell meat was old. I had a bad experience contrary to what the reviews said. After last night I probably want every go there again. I was highly disappointed for the price they charged me. I could have definitely went to zaxby's or tried that other restaurant golden ranch or something ( probably been a whole lot satisfied that at Lannie's. After wasting $15 and completely still hungry after assuming Lannie's would take my hunger away with happiness. I ended up going to Taco Bell to quench my satisfaction. I can definitely say a Whole lot better than the home cooked meal I wanted for Lannie's.

Swamp Sandwich This sandwich is a double cheeseburger with bologna, pork, pickles, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and mustard.

Okay so, we were in Selma just passing by on our way back from Orlando to Austin, we asked 3 different people where was the best authentic from Alabama food and they all recommend Lannies, there was a long line and the food took a while, BUT, totally WORTH IT, the food is amazing and it's a ridiculous amount of food!! My dad and I got the swamp sandwich and it's awesome Also the fried okra and corn nuggets! Would definitely come back if I'm ever in Alabama again

Excellent BarBQ,Catfish Sandwich,Hamburgers,&Bolonga to die for!YouCan't come to Selma,Alabama and Not eat at Lannie's,UBetta!

Small out of the way place. Best pulled pork. Actual fried pork skin on fresh white bread. Nicest staff and clean. Highly recommended.

BBQ is a gem of the American countryside dining. Partially, because the only other alternative is…read moretypically fast food. But, that would not be a fair description of this tradition: BBQ is an incredible style of cooking and spots like this represent this tradition well. BBQ 65 is conveniently located right off the interstate in a gas station in a saloon like building that has a beautiful character from the outside. Open since 2010s, this spot has started to earn its place in the BBQ world, albeit being newer to it. There is an indoor seating inside near the gas station shop aisles. The ribs are cooked well with a nice wood profile, but neither very delicate nor particularly notable for their flavor of the meat itself, with smoke notes dominating. The quality of pork itself and the slightly tougher preparation could be better to rival Alabama's best. The BBQ sauce is loaded up with vinegar, completely overpowering the meat if consumed together, although to be fair, this may be a matter of preference for some BBQ lovers. The star of the show is potato salad which was perfectly balanced on its acidity, sweetness and overall flavor. As a whole, BBQ 65 is a pleasant stop to experience some traditional southern cooking and support a local business instead of tossing money into another "by the exit" fast food chain.
