This Irish pub did something really fun--they feature a pop-up bayou menu with a Cajun chef, and I am truly hoping this turns into a full-on Cajun restaurant one day!! I'm a gumbo girl through and through, and my guy is all about crawfish étouffée, so this was basically made for us. Everything hit the spot in that comforting, rich, "yes, I will need a nap after this" kind of way. And we cannot skip the homemade moon pies--absolutely worth every calorie. No regrets. None. Stopped by Doyle's Public House on a Sunday morning with a friend and had a great experience. We walked in, found a table right away, and were able to order immediately, which was a nice start to the day. I had the veggie scramble and it was both tasty and filling. Plenty of flavor without feeling too heavy. My friend went with the bagel and schmear and was happy with it too. Service was efficient. Our waitress was friendly, and our food came out quickly. Prices felt fair for the quality and portion size. There was a game on in the background, without being too loud or distracting. Solid spot for a relaxed breakfast. I'd come back. read more

Doyle's Public House remains one of Tacoma's best Irish pub spots, great cozy atmosphere, solid staff, and seriously tasty elevated pub food. The Deviled Scotch Eggs are a standout, classic sausage-wrapped hard-boiled eggs, halved and stuffed with that creamy, velvety yolk filling (think deviled egg vibes but way richer), all perched on a bed of bacon balsamic jam. Crispy exterior, perfect seasoning, not greasy at all, really well done and a fun twist on the traditional scotch egg. The Korean Grilled Cheese was another winner, loaded with smoky brisket, gooey pepper jack, and Olykraut's spicy garlic kraut on grilled sourdough. Bold flavors, generous portions, and it hits that comfort-food craving with a nice kick. Only downside was the TVs, all soccer/football, no other sports in sight. If you're looking for anything else, you may be out of luck here. But it's an authentic Irish pub in Tacoma, so it makes sense they cater to the footy fans. Can't really complain too much. Overall, killer food and drinks in a welcoming spot. Definitely heading back for more maybe with a group next time. read more

Our party has never been here before, and we showed up and we were greeted with friendly faces. Breakfast menu was outstanding and all three people in our group or the Cristo. When it came out, they all looked magnificent and there is a blueberry habanero sauce jam that goes on top and it was not super spicy, but had great flavor. Came here for a cocktail with friends after brunch and there was a soccer game on so it was full, but we found a table! Drinks are great, i didnt eat this time but I have in the past and its delicious pub food, my only disappointment was how slow the service was. We sat with empty glasses for a few minutes while the waitress kept walking past us. There was a couple times she even looked at the table, and wouldnt say anything and would walk by still. This place has the best French toast I've ever had. I've tried French toast at many other restaurants, but this one is by far my favorite. It's perfectly cooked, fluffy on the inside, and full of flavor. The cocktails and beer are also excellent and pair well with the food. Great food, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere. Stopped by here for a quick dessert but I couldn't resist ordering the totchos. I subbed it with potato wedges instead and it tasted absolutely amazing. The dessert we ordered was a bit too sweet but the ice cream actually helped balance it out. The ambiance is nice. Chill and warm. Parking was plentiful. Service was exceptional. Staff was very friendly and checked on us often as well as offering us recommendations. Loved my first visit to Doyle's after a show at a comedy club near by. We ordered their Shepherd's Pie and the Bangers and Mash and the items did not disappoint. The Shepherd's pie had some tarty flavor but not too bad. I devoured my bangers and mash - flavorful yummy and fresh. They had a seasonal Mardi Gras menu which looked amazing but we wanted to try out their classics. Their Guinness was amazing and their Irish whisky too. They had locals in here for a fun trivia night. I love that this place is open till late and the vibe is awesome. Service was fantastic and i will look forward to visiting when in the area. Ruining the parking in the neighborhood for what looks like it will be a month and a half for a sports party. I am sure you are making mad stacks. Good for you, that makes me happy. I will think about your fat stacks and how happy they make you as I sit in my car with my eight year old for 45 min circling a multi block radius looking for parking every single day after work for a MONTH AND A HALF. Was very disappointed in my experience, not even stepping inside the bar for the World Cup final. After waiting 30 minutes outside and watching people that the bouncer was picking and choosing to go in, we kept being denied entry. due to hitting max capacity as I've saw many leave and say they were not re-entering the bouncer would then pick somebody who he was familiar with or listen to their sorry excuse and allow them entry, but then tell the people who have been waiting there longer than those individual that they will not be allowed until after the game. I love this establishment very much and I'm disappointed that they picked people who they were familiar with making my money seem not valid in the establishment where all money should be valid and every customer should be. read more

One of the nifty things about Doyle's is that they are open 365. Yes, this includes Christmas. There are very few places that are open so it's nice knowing there's a place to go if you just want to hang out. Food, for the most part, has been quite consistent. It comes out hot and it's pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but it's perfectly fine pub food. There are a small handful of vegetarian items, which is more than I'd expect from an Irish pub. The omelet that I had most recently had way, way too much butter for my taste, but that's what happens at restaurants. Service is really hit or miss depending on who's working. I've only been here a handful of times thus far, but I'm starting to recognize the good employees and the bad/slow ones. I like several of their hot drinks, but if I see one person in particular I know it's going to be luke warm by the time I get it so I don't order those when she's bartending. Overall it's a simple concept: you order at the counter when you're ready and then they'll bring things out to you. Including drink refills, just flag someone down when they walk past and it's good. Things can get quite loud when there's a game going, so keep that in mind if you're trying to chat with your table. Overall though Doyle's has a great vibe and I can enjoy my time here. read more

I Always enjoy Doyle's. The staff has always been friendly, it's a honey hole for specialty bottles of your favorite bourbon, whiskey, etc. The food is absolutely delicious 8 times out of ten. Service: Very slow, especially for a Saturday afternoon with a pub that was filled decently but by no means jammed. Food timing was reasonable, but the two times I ordered - wait for it - a beer, it took fifteen minutes to receive it. Our server was far more interested in the party in the back or chatting at the pass; watching that behavior honestly just made the two hours that it took to complete lunch a slog. Food: Let's start with the major culinary offender - the gumbo offered as part of a cajun pop-up. The broth was runny, canned soup with water runny, offering little seasoning and no file powder was used - if they had done that, the broth would have been nuttier and should have thickened some. No chunks of green pepper or celery or onion - just a heated bowl of rice, brown flavored water, chicken, and andouille. This type of culinary appropriation is just offensive. The smoked meat in their brisket dip was pushing the line of acrid - the oversmoked flavor made eating the entire sandwich not possible (and I smoke a ton of meat, and I prefer a fairly heavy smoke profile, but this was well beyond that). The one glow from their main menu was the bread pudding, which was delightful. And yet, no traditional burger on the menu, nor fish and chips? Just . . . odd, and not executed terribly well by and large. I wanted to like the place. And given that I have friends I visit that like the place, it's realistic I will be back. I hope the team has a real think because there really wasn't an aspect of this meal, save for the bread pudding and the ambiance, that would warrant a return. Finally, and likely most importantly, i have to also call out leadership or the lack thereof here. I did not see anyone that looked like they were directing traffic or managing anything. You had several employees available, frankly well more than was needed for the twelve tables and 60 or so patrons; the ratio on the floor was perhaps 10 guests per 1 server. But the team was listless and adrift, so without any oversight or accountability, a lot of what I suffered could and likely should be traced back to a dearth of leadership. read more

I came here for our brunch club with some friends. It was a pretty good breakfast and the staff was very friendly and helpful, they even leaned over the bar to take our order at a table and didn't make us walk up to the order-taking spot. We came during a match, so it was VERY loud. I'm not faulting the restaurant for it; it's obviously characteristic of a pub. It was our fault for choosing this spot for a women's brunch outing. But we hung in there! I asked the server if they had anything vegan, and he said no, nothing as is. So I ordered the veggie scramble without eggs or cheese and a side of dry rye. It was pretty tasty. We were there for St Patrick's Day, got there before 11. Despite being very busy, the service was excellent. He had the Cuban sandwich while I had the Chicken Bacon and Ranch sandwich. I have returned. Was here last October and had an exceptional experience even though we we went to brunch during a soccer match and the place was standing room only. Today was so calm and fortunately it was a Mari Gras menu. Now think Mardi Gras from in New Orleans and I am in Tacoma at an Irish pub. Ok the boudin was good but missed some taste. The chicken and sausage gumbo was absolutely delicious. I can't say exactly the same as a NOLA taste but I found so dang great! Iman was our server and we struck up quite the conversation. It's so cool when bartenders are so conversational and gracious and she was. The bar was so cozy and the bathrooms were warm, which is a treat in Tacoma. My sister ended our visit with the bread pudding for desert. Can you say die for this. It was absolutely out of this world. I stumbled upon this place while on business travel to the area. The food was really good, the atmosphere was perfectly filled with Soccer stuff everywhere, and the people were great. It was trivia night to my surprise and it was a lot of fun. If you're local or traveling to the area I suggest stopping in for a plate and some pints. The area has lots of options for typical college food and beers but this place was really good food and fun. I had the smoked corned beef and a coworker had the Shepard's pie and then ordered a second entree saying the Banger's and mash was equally as delicious. I had a Smithwick's, because when in Rome... It's also tasty. My man friend got a simple sandwich, which is actually just the right size. It is ham and Swiss cheese. For being a vegetarian, I was happy to see snacks, hummus, black bean burger, salads, and even a veggie soup on special.
