I've been a customer of Heritage for years and a member of their Cask Club. They have been making excellent cocktails at the tasting room and serving a mix of small bites. They've even added coffee to the menu. Service is always friendly (maybe because I know most of the staff). Heritage has been my go to for grabbing a cocktail and showing the Harbor to guests. Sadly, it's all ending. Heritage has announced the closure of all tasting rooms 12/31/2025. If you want to try them, time's running out! * Business closure notice* Heritage Distilling Co. still has amazing products but alas all of the company's tasting rooms are closing. The Gig Harbor location closes at the end of December ( of 2025). We were over in Gig Harbor this past weekend to see a friend and were actually surprised to to see this tasting room still open. We knew that Heritage has closed many tasting room locations already and just assumed that the Gig Harbor location closed some time ago. But nope, they are still around for a few more weeks. We got some spirits here. I got some miniature bottles of vodka and whiskey and Steve got a spirit that has an amazing Earl Grey flavor so we definitely had a nice purchasing "Hurrah" here before this location closes. Despite all tasting rooms closing Heritage Distilling will still exist as it is going to a production only operation. read more

Gig Harbor is a city outside Tacoma as well as a bay on the Puget Sound. We'll always remember it for this wonderful tasting room. They claim to have won more awards than any other craft distillery in North America. After a couple of flights and a few tasty snacks, we agreed. We ended up purchasing two bottles of our favourites-for home consumption. The staff were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and sincere. Especially, Thomas. Couple that with the relaxing ambience. We were in Gig Harbor and looking for a restaurant we're bar and grill to have a bite so we stopped here. To be honest, this place has appetizer bites and is really just more of a bar promoting their distilled goods. We found it very difficult to get service even though the place was not particularly busy. When we walked in, a woman at the front told us to pick any table, but It wasn't clear if we needed to go up to the counter to order or if someone would come to our table so we sat for quite a while and finally went up to the counter where we were told oh no, will come to your table, even though there were at least three people behind the bar the entire time. (Maybe it is a demographics thing? As retired women with white hair we often feel invisible, and we definitely felt invisible here.) Had the place been more welcoming we would have stayed longer and ordered bites with our drinks, and perhaps shopped their offerings, too. While sightseeing in Gig Harbor we stopped in here for a tasting and snack. Love the Relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff. They have whiskey, gins and vodkas and offer 2 free tastings. My wife and I drove from Puyallup to try this place. The staff, especially Jackie were delightful. She let us taste numerous products, and by the time she was done, we blew our budget. I've been here one other time last summer and loved the drinks then so decided to stop in again while I was in the area today with time to kill before meeting my friend and her son for dinner. I am happy to say the drinks were on point again this time... today I had the lime in de coconut and summer s'mores cocktails as well as an order of their Bavarian pretzel sticks with mustard and beer cheese. Only thing is I didn't get acknowledged by staff right away but in their defense they were somewhat busy when I walked in today. The pretzels were heavenly ! I was seriously conflicted choosing between them or the charcuterie cup but ultimately decided on them as It dosen't list on their menu exactly what goes in their charcuterie ( just a basic description like cheese and meat and crackers.. duh! I love me some cheese and crackers but I'd like to know the exact meats In there) and I couldn't find a picture of it so I may just try it next time I'm in but I feel I made the right choice today choosing the pretzels. They got some GOOD LIKKERS HERE! I got the lemondrop flight. Ghost pepper and lavender are good. Girlfriend liked the raspberry one but i think raspberry liquor is gross so I wouldn't try it. The basic rye is good, if a bit sweet, and the earth gin is like being electrocuted while sucking on citrus. It is bold in the extreme. I tried and bought a bottle of the basic gin. This was where I learned that Washington has a 20.5% alcohol tax. My bonus mom in law took us around Gig Harbor so we can shop a little but before our Gondola ride. The guy who welcomed us was nice and did warn us of the alcohol tax. It was pretty spacious. Apparently, when I'm in Washington, I like vodka. I got 7 shooters because they had 6 for 20 and one was going to be discontinued. I got the Dual Barrel Collection straight Rye whiskey finished in Orange extract barrels. I'm not a whiskey girl, but my husband is so i also got an elk rider rye whiskewhiskey, it was one of the whiskeys they were discontinuing. . The vodka flavors I got were huckleberry, ghost pepper, coffecoffee, lavender and grapefruit and pomelo. We were super busy for being in Washington for 2.5 days so we were so pressed for time, I don't believe I took any photos of the distillery. I'm not sure when I will be back because my Washington bucketlist is now Leavenworth, but I can't wait to try my shooters! read more

The highlight of my day trip to Gig Harbor was my tasting at Heritage. While the town is cute, on the water, and quintessentially Pacific North West, there wasn't much to do on a Sunday at the end of February. Thus, Heritage Distilling was as a bright oasis in the gray desert of Gig Harbor. Darla took good care of me, answering my questions, and laughing at my lame attempts at humor. Her boisterous and outgoing personality added much to my experience. The vodkas all tasted great, but my favorites were the bacon vodka and the coffee vodka. I don't usually enjoy bourbon, probably because it reminds me of the horror I experienced living in Kentucky. Eccentric Jewish men, who grew up in New York City, are not going to be happy living in Kentucky. However, the two bourbons created by Heritage are so unique, so different than anything I have tasted, I forgot about banjos and bad teeth and bought two bottles of the bourbon along with three bottles of vodka. Heritage Distilling in Gig Harbor made my day, until I discovered there was a Heritage tasting room in Ballard, ten minutes from where I live. How out of touch with reality am I? Absolutely loved my experience here. This is a vodka, whiskey and bourbon distillery tasting room. I like that their drink menu has tasting flights with shooters and also shooters-plus-cocktails or cocktail-plus-cocktail at very affordable prices on par with a beer brewery flight. The flavors are extremely unique and special, and it's wonderful to be able to try a bunch. Their "BSB" (brown sugar bourbon) is their signature, most popular flavor and an absolute must for first timers and bourbon lovers. You can choose bottles to ship home, and there is a minimum order to get free shipping. Sadly, I learned they do not ship to California due to regulations on shipping alcohol. They sell small travel size bottles of some of their unique flavors like lavender, which make nice gifts or for yourself. Oh my god I am SO HAPPY I came across this hidden gem in downtown Gig Harbor!! The distillery has premium real estate on the corner, with a view of the waterfront, and complete with an outdoor area for patrons. Christy made my visit experience unforgettable. Loved this place! The tasting includes small pours of the straight product or in cocktail form - super clever. I tried the madness along with a small pour of hibiscus and coconut vodka. The hibiscus is quite sweet on its own, the bartender recommended adding to la croix. The coconut was smoother, but the madness was the best of all. It featured the blood orange vodka. I usually turn my nose up at local distillers- call it a snob issue. I'm super particular about my sprits and most local places are just - eh. I walked into Heritage with 3 others while tourist shopping in Gig Harbor and had a few hours to kill so we decided to try some flights and cocktails. Better, they let us bring in pizza from the local wood fired pizza place, and served us outside with a propane fired table heater providing needed warmth. The guys ordered the old fashioned and the gals ordered the bacon-vodka Bloody Mary. Shazam!!! The Bloody Mary was epic, perfectly smoky and spicy. The old fashioned was solid, but not quite as magnificent as that bacon Bloody Mary. For flights, the vodka flight is the one to get. The ghost pepper vodka was the surprise- so good and of course was sold out to purchase. The blood red orange vodka and the vanilla were equally fun. The bourbon flight had 2 good ones and three so-so. I wasn't as enamored of the bourbon overall, but we ended up with three vodka bottles (bacon and blood red Orange). This is a cool place that we ventured into while walking around in Gig Harbor. We were able to sit on the patio and taste test. Everyone was super friendly and the drinks were interesting! We drove to Gig Harbor, their flagship location, just to buy sanitizers. They're one.of few places around WA where you can get them. They come in BIG bottles and intended for spray design and not in gel consistency like the ones you normally buy in stores. They are easy to store in bottle sprays for use in disinfecting around the house. $15 per 750ml bottle. I think the price is good considering they switch their production from a brewery to making sanitizers so they can help communities. You can order sanitizers online but for us it was a nice drive going to Gig Harbor so we decided to drive instead. Due to high demand of sanitizers they may be out of or low in inventory so I suggest calling first. If you want you can place your order on your way which we did, then call when you get there and they'll go out and bring out to your car on the curbside. No lines, no waiting. A must stop when in town. So many vodka flavours, tasty whiskey and bourbon as well! Three different tasting options and $5 returned if you purchase a bottle. The brown sugar bourbon is a favourite of mine. The cask club membership is a really neat idea and I love that you can concoct your own flavour profiles and create something unique. If I lived closer I'd be all in for it! Our server said that Heritage recommends frequent visits to make sure everything is blending and doing what you want. We have been to several Heritage Distilleries over the past couple years. We were introduced to their brown sugar bourbon by family a few years ago. Too sweet for my taste. But the wife loves it. After visiting a distillery in Eugene a couple years ago. We found this one in Gig Harbor (as of this review, they are remodeling). Before the remodel started, we dropped in to buy a bottle of their brown sugar bourbon. Staff was so great. Gave me a sample of their white bourbon. Wow. Strong ! Alright!!!! I'll stop slacking! Been here a few times but too busy tasting to review it. Here we go. It rocks! :) I've had their brown sugar bourbon: surprisingly loved it! Just love!! Came here for their tasting flights. Lavender vodka, ghost pepper vodka and so on! Pretty strong!! This time around aka today!! I got to their June cocktails!! Basically they are not a bar. Still a tasting room. So you can't have more than 2 drinks. Each is like an oz pour of booze. My favorite was Flower power! Lavender vodka! A little nutmeg! It was delicious!! Like drinking juice!! Dangerous :) And I normally don't drink vodka!! Or like it! This one I had it twice and hit my limit of 2 drinks! They won't serve you more than 2! The thirsty dad with bourbon and coffee vodka was strong. That coffee taste in the end was good though. Pineapple upside down drink is my least favorite here. I dislike sweet! We went here for a drink after lunch. The inside is modern industrial with a bar and a wall of high top seating. The outside has separated pods with heaters and seemed like a great way to social distance. I ordered the wrong drink for me and envied the people who ordered the flights. The c'est la vie tasted good, but I prefer more bitter to sweet. The service was okay. It took a little long to be recognized after we sat down. The bartender looked like he was going to faint from working so hard while some of the servers chatted with customers. I will return. I'll just order the flight next time. read more

I have had two experiences with Heritage- the first one was at the Beast Bus tailgate before the Seahawks game on opening day, and the second experience was at the Gig Harbor location. I have also had Heritage products at whisky events throughout Seattle, but have never directly interacted with staff members. The tailgate was really fun, and I actually have a boomerang on my Instagram of my teammates and I taking a shotski of Hertiage Rye Whiskey! The staff was in a great mood and it was a fun time. The experience at the tasting room in GH was a bit different. They have a very strict "2 oz" rule that they consistently like to remind patrons about for the entirety of their visit, even if they are simply enjoying the one flight they are allowed to have. We had two separate employees come to us while we were tasting and essentially question and berate us about how much we had had and what we were doing while we were simply comparing and contrasting the flavor notes in our selection. Bonus points for them being dog friendly. Unfortunately I would recommend tasting at another location/festival because tasting at the Gig Harbor location was a little too stressful. read more
