Warning: Avoid Dr. Joshi at all costs. My experience with Dr. Joshi was truly alarming. Her care borders on malpractice--painful procedures, careless handling, and a shocking lack of professionalism. I cannot stress enough how unsafe and traumatic this was for my child. Do not be fooled by positive reviews on her website. Her staff incentivizes good reviews in exchange for gift cards, and even then, the low ratings on Yelp and other review sites tell the real story. The contrast between these paid reviews and the many one-star experiences online is striking. Her husband AJ, who works the front desk, is equally awful. He shows no care or concern for patients and seems to only be interested in collecting money. The whole experience felt transactional and uncaring. Pediatric dentistry is supposed to be gentle, professional, and safe. Dr. Joshi fails completely on all three fronts. My daughter had to get a tooth pulled for space in her mouth. The procedure went fine. She barely felt it. However, as we were walking out I was told I had a payment due. Thinking it was a standard co-pay of $30, I paid it without much question and asked for a receipt. I was told they couldn't give me a physical one, one would be emailed to me (my wife's email). Ok. Then I check my bank account and they charged me $31.40??? And the receipt shows $30 for "office visit", not a copay! What? You charge me $30 to come in for a procedure and don't tell me that it's an office visit fee and then charge my bank more than what you told me? Time to look for a new dentist. Update, I called to speak to them about the over charge and "office visit charge". The guy that answered the phone was extremely rude, spoke over me, wouldn't let me talk and the. Hung up on me. I called back and was told I don't get to yell at him, uh. Sorry snowflake, I wasn't yelling, I was trying to speak which I wasn't able to because he kept speaking over me. They are always great here! Very kind and gentle with the kids. My girls are ages 7, 6, and 3 and are comfortable getting their teeth clean. It's easy to schedule and get in. I just read some of the other reviews and am shocked. I've been going to this dentist about 2 years now and have always had an excellent experience. AJ is great - he's the front desk - very nice and competent. All the hygienists and Dr Joshi have always been great. I can't believe anyone has had a bad experience like those reviews. Crazy. My daughter had two cavities fixed complete with caps (her two incisors) and I have nothing but positive things to say about the experience. Dr. Joshi is not only amazing at what she does she is also kind and caring, took the time to talk us through everything in great detail. We're probably what you'd consider high maintenance (lol) and they were totally understanding and worked so well with us without making us feel crazy like other places we had gone to did. Unsurprisingly I also had a very bad experience with DPD Smiles. My daughter (4 years old) needed some dental work and I brought her there for a consultation. My immediate first impression was that it was very uninviting and almost like a hospital. They had you take your shoes off or wear booties, which was a little off putting at first. I understand cleanliness but this was over the top! My daughter was a little nervous and I was excited to hear they had therapy dogs to help with this but they weren't around when we went into the room. Afterwards I saw them on a couch in the back, still not sure why they didn't ask if she wanted to have one in the room. After the consultation we were told that she would need at least 4 crowns, several cavities filled and they were recommending putting her under general anesthesia. As a first time parent, I was very overwhelmed. I asked why they thought she needed GA and they said because of the amount of work that needed to be done and her age. They actually recommended doing all of that work at one time!! I knew I wanted to get a second opinion so I asked them to send the X-rays to another pediatric dentist's office. I also was told the treatment plan and pre-estimate from insurance was going to be emailed to me. After waiting about a week I called the office to follow up on that information being sent me. I was told they had a problem with my address (physical address, not email address, which made no sense) and that they would get me the treatment plan the next day. A week later and after 5 phone calls, voicemails left and nothing back I physically went to their Wheaton office to pick up those items as her second opinion appointment was the next day. They 100% screen the phone calls and were not answering my call intentionally. They kept telling me they were getting a new phone system. Seems odd because the phone kept ringing and I was able to leave a voicemail. Hm.... When I eventually physically went there the way they treated me at the front desk was laughable. I told them I was there to make sure they sent me X-rays, the treatment plan and the pre-estimate from my insurance. They told me the insurance hadn't gotten back to them yet (I talked to my insurance company before going there and they hadn't even filed anything yet). The man that was helping me eventually went in the back and never came back out....so the manager came and talked to me. They eventually emailed me the X-rays and treatment plan since I told them I was going to wait until it showed up in my inbox. I wound up going to G&G Dental in Naperville and was told WILDLY conflicting information about what needed to happen in my daughters mouth. They recommended ONE crown, filling 3-4 cavities and doing all of that work over 3 days only using nitrous. They didn't want to do too much as once, overwhelm her and wanted to be conservative with teeth rather than drill into them and crown them. I couldn't believe I almost let the irresponsible dental team at DPD Smiles almost destroy my poor 4 year olds mouth. Dr. Joshi is someone I wish I met 7 years ago. I do SO much research as a mother...and I'm not kidding when I tell you, SHE IS THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE dentist I've ever come across. We talked about tongue ties, mouth breathing (so bad for you), proper techniques for dental hygiene...highly recommend. Also, their no shoe policy is AWESOME. Shoes carry fecal matter and all types of diseases from public bathrooms, etc so keeping it out of her clean offices is so appreciated. She has therapy dogs to help calm you nerves too. This review is in regards to Ajay the office manager. As previous reviews mentioned, I too was overcharged for services. When I questioned the billing Ajay became defensive and could not answer any of my questions. As a customer, this was very frustrating. Instead of answering my questions, I was told they canceled my daughter's future appointments and would refund me the additional money I overpaid. The amount they said I was due for a refund wasn't correct. Save your time and money and visit another office. It isn't worth the frustration and I like to do business with trustworthy honest individuals. I will be taking my daughters to Innovative Pediatric Dentistry in Naperville. AVOID, AVOID, SCAM!! I believe everything happens for a reason, as well as our in to wishing. We have been around and around with Dr. Joshi office. Alex & Emily, the receptionist has been very rude and unpleasant to work with. Walking into the office for our first visit was a bite different, I felt uncomfortable having to take off our shoes. Alex and Emily didn't greet us, they kept their heads down continuing their laptops, no " Hello, just a moment please." or awareness or our presents. The nurse came out and said, "come with me", no introducing herself, nor calling out the patients name to confirm my child was the correct patient on her chart. She than took us to a very cold, dark room not very inviting for children. Dr. Joshi came in and didn't introduce herself to myself or my son or introduced her dogs to us. The dogs came into the room before she did and then she asked if it was ok for the dogs to come in, although they were already let in our room. I believe the nurse should've asked us prior to the Doctor coming into the room with them. Although the dogs were friendly, the hospitality is not there for a doctor's office. After she examined my son, she just said OK these are the issues, we can schedule surgery up front no do you have questions, no elaborating in the process or how it'll go, what to expect, etc. Very vague about it all. Felt like she was in a hurry and didn't care about my questions or concerns. We went up front Alex brought me around the desk to what I thought go over surgery and timing or etc. but that wasn't the case. We were told when it was coming to scheduling my child's dental surgery that we had to pay $310 for a booking fee, and I had to call my insurance to send in the $310 AFTER surgery I would get a paper with codes on it for insurances, and I would also need to call this other number and go on their website to fill out some paperwork to than schedule for anesthesiologist because they bring in a third party and the patients need to do that. I called and they are out of network, and we were told to pay in full $750 to them on top of the $310 to doctors office, than we got another call same day for $75 that is our copay. How they explained it was confusing and all the places didn't really make any sense to us. I felt like I was almost being sold car by a salesman with how things were being explained. Having to be told we need to get the surgery down asap to prevent any further issues, so when you hear something like that your thinking ok doctor knows best, right? FALSE!! They are just in it for the money not the health or wellness of the children. After my husband paid the $310 I just had this unsettling feeling that this just seem right. I had to call them to get instructions on my son's appointment they didn't bother explaining any things further to my husband after he called them to pay what is called a "booking fee" of a time, instructions before surgery, what to expected, or anything. So, I called that following day asking questions which than after I called them, I started to receive a lot of phone calls from different states, asking for more money. We have good insurance, and we started feeling like this is a scam! I than called around at different pediatric dentist asking questions, they thought it was odd as well performing surgery while children are put under in office being so young, and not able to go in the back room while your child is being prepped for surgery. Unease feeling so we called to get refunded, and they said no because we signed a paper with that clause in it. I asked what the booking fee was for, he than beat around the bush gave me a weird response so than I said its basically paying the doctor for a off day for her to come in and perform surgery? He said Well if you wanted to call it than yeah. What in the world how is this a professional doctor's office?!! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEACH.... I hope this helps someone who needs it. We used to like them but the service has since gone downhill to a point that I am surprise they are still in business. The receptionist was never friendly from the start, but that didn't bothered me as the hygienist and the doctor was good and professional. The visiting orthodontist was great too. She gave us honest feedback instead of persuading us to do braces right away. So all in all, it was good and we made a follow up visit. At the second cleaning visit, we were told not to go inside the building. After a good 15-20 min in the hot car, I couldn't do it anymore and went inside. My expectation was low that I didn't expect anything from the receptionist. After another 15-20 min wait, I went up to the receptionist to inquire how much longer we had to wait, as we were already 30-40 min behind our appointment time. He just said the dentist had an emergency. I asked him how much longer and if we should reschedule because we have other appointments to go to. He said just wait. Another 10-15 min gone by, when I was able to cancel the appointment, we were rushed into the chairs. The dentist spent less than 5 min on each kid! Also, they sold us two amazon $20 night guards for $50 each. Fine, it was my mistakes not doing research before purchasing. Since i understand thing happens, I was going to give them another chance after the not so pleasant experience. 6 months go by, emails with our appointment information were sent to me for confirmation. The appointments were confirmed. But on the day of the appointments, NO ONE was at the office. The office was closed. We called the number with no one answering. So 40 min of driving there was a waste of time. I called the next day with no one answer again. Eventually, I emailed and sent a message on their Facebook page. The response I got was, the appointments were never made and they automatically made my appointments to be 3 weeks later on a Tuesday that we knew we cannot go. I sent back the screenshots of both appointments and confirmations and told them we wouldn't be able to make the imaginary appointments set up by them. Left without being seen. The atmosphere is a little dark and empty. We got called 10 minutes after our appointment and instead of a cheerful, kind greeting to my kids we got a finger pointing us to shoe covers and a grumpy nurse telling us "You were supposed to remove your shoes or put on coverings." When I asked why, I was told "It was suggested during covid and we've decided to continue it." Still in covid protocol but only for footwear? But she was wearing footwear. My infant son recently had lip & tongue tie surgery through them and they had trouble with our insurance, they called left a message on a Wednesday, I was working with our insurance company to get it figured out and by Friday, they had charged over $2,000 on my debit card, they tried three different amounts to get the charge to go through. I was NOT even given a heads up that this was happening and they did it 10 minutes before they closed the office. Oh my my my. I came here to write a review! I actually should have checked the reviews before i made appt. Lesson learned. Just a giant no! I brought four children here a few weeks ago. Everything the other reviewers said about this place and the Dentist is completely true. Truthfully it is not just Mrs. Kajal Joshi it is her staff as well. None of my children felt comfortable nor even wanted. The young hygienists seemed very unhappy really didn't do much of a cleaning job on any of the children it was more of a teeth brushing. Without too much detail I stated in all of my childrens intake forms that they were possibly allergic to a very specific chemical yet while Kajal Joshi DMD was doing her exam she did apply this chemical directly into to my 7yr olds mouth. Things did not go well after this she was indifferent and combative. I wish that was the end. A few weeks later i received a copy of the bill from my insurance and DPD Smiles had billed my insurance 8 times! I emailed the main office and Kajal Joshi personally responded again indifferent, combative and now blaming the insurance company. Moms please do not even entertain this Dentist. Mrs. Kajal Joshi's interpersonal style cannot possibly provide effective patient care. So the response to comments is disabled. I am not sure if this can be done by the business owner. This is my response to her and I am going to wash my hands of this place. You responded within 3 minutes of my posting this. You are obviously waiting to respond to anyone saying anything negative. There are so many bad reviews how can you keep up. My younger daughter was a loyal patient for about 7 years, and my older daughter for about 2 years. They both complained that over the last year Dr. Joshi's bedside manner has gone downhill. I was driving 35 minutes just to see a good pediatric dentist. Not anymore, this place is just NOT WORTH IT! The associate dentist did NOT do a good job cleaning my older daughter's teeth. Also, keep in mind the 48 hour cancellation policy is actually 4 days if it's the day after a holiday. I called and left a voicemail Thursday morning at 10 AM to cancel my daughter's appointment on Tuesday 9/3 (the day after Labor Day) and apparently, they were unaware. When I got a confirmation reminder on Friday 8/30, I even responded that I called to cancel the day before. The day of her appointment, when they didn't answer my phone call yet again- the office sent a text to please text at that number. They just weren't being understanding at all, my daughter was sick and they kept texting the office was closed for the "holiday weekend." Then, they emailed a bill for $100 no-show fee. I'm sorry that your office was closed 4-5 days for Labor Day holiday which is only Monday. Please be more courteous to your patients- especially long-term ones. Also, yes I didn't specify that she was sick in the original voicemail- I was in a hurry and you should give your patients the benefit of the doubt - not be out to get them! UPDATE-PLS READ I am assuming Ajay read this review as I waited in the waiting room. I witnessed him go to the parking lot and look at several cars including my car. Thought nothing of it. When I left the office with my kids, a tow truck guy literally got out of his truck in the middle of the road and stopped me on Roosevelt Rd. He told me, with my kids in the car, that DPD Smiles called him to tow my car in the parking lot because DPD Smiles said it was parked there overnight. Ajay specifically gave the tow company my license plate number. He said be careful of that guy. Basically, Ajay got upset with the review and tried to get me towed. I KNOW THAT DPD SMILE'S RESPONSE IS THAT I'M MAKING THIS UP. BUT I HAVE THE TOW TRUCK COMPANY'S INFORMATION TO VERIFY AND CONFIRM THIS. I AM SURE THE TOW COMPANY HAS A RECORD OF THE CALL. Where do I even start... I scheduled appointments for my 3 daughters or so I thought.. thankfully, I called way in advance to confirm after not hearing back on my email... the receptionist said the appointments were never made and not in the system. Luckily, I saved the emails.. but went ahead and scheduled for the following week that they should have been seen. 1st time at this location. Will not be back. When I went to the front desk to give him my daughters' names, he rudely said I should have just responded HERE in their text to me. So I apologized and said this was our 1st time there. We went to their big room with three chairs. One hygienist QUICKLY with no light. No glasses, cleaned all the girls' teeth and then told us the doctor would be right in. The water sprayed both my kids in the face and glasses would have been nice... they seemed extremely over booked! After about a 30 to 40 minute wait, with no chairs for my husband and I, the Dr. Joshi finally came in and she also seemed very rushed. With it being our first time the bed side manner was very unpleasant. My youngest daughter has a cavity that was taken care of temporarily at another dental office, and when I asked how it was. She said she couldn't really tell. And told us we would have to come back for another appointment for an xray.. but isn't that the purpose of a cleaning?? To clean and get an xray of which she was due for because she has never had one. Just seemed like they didn't even want to try and were rushed for time. I also asked about a night guard for my middle child. And asked what it was made of, she was like oh well I don't know you'll have to ask the front desk... odd that the dentist wouldn't know about her own products they are selling... and when I asked about grinding the teeth, she said yeah they could affect the adult teeth. But again no further info as to how. No goody bag with toothbrush or toothpaste was given... just a toy which was nice, but doesn't benefit their dental routine... very displeased with the service. Definitely did not feel welcomed. When directed back to the room it was like just go all the way down there, go go go, and my poor kiddos looked at me like what where?! And then out the door no one escorted us out or anything just go go go again.. also, taking off our shoes was different, but it was their rule so I get it. They had changed their way of operating and now require you set appointments via email (They don't answer phone calls, fyi). It sounds easy enough, until they pick to only answer questions they wish to answer. They didn't seem as accommodating as they used to be, definitely not as friendly... doesn't seem to care they lost a customer... especially since we were thinking of our daughter to go as well. My family of 4 kids have been going to the practice for several years. I've always been very happy with Dr. Joshi & felt she always provided a great experience for my children. I do agree that when arriving there is no greeting, smile- most of the times not even an acknowledgement when walked in. We looked past it for many visits. This past experience however was not good to say the least. I took all 4 of my kids for 6 month check up- 3/4 had to go back for small fillings/ my daughter needed 2 teeth pulled. We had to go back on diff scheduled days & once insurance was billed (for most of the claims) they sent me the balance to pay. Which I did send a check for the FULL amount he billed me....apparently one of the claims had crossed & A.J. took it upon himself to take the additional money ($150) from my account WITHOUT my permission. I had written check for the amount that was due/& for invoices I received. HE changed amount & used the routing number on my check!!! He NEVER received my consent/no email/or called for my permission. I was upset & felt this was VERY unprofessional & ILLEGAL. I emailed him stating this was wrong, & he basically said that all the deposits are done electrionally & he had no control over it!!!! I also had my lawyer contact him to inform him that his actions were ILLEGAL & still no response. HE never called me to try to fix/apologize nothing!! I'm afraid to say I finally left this practice after over 5 years due to the constant very poor patient experience. From zero access for general exams, zero communication (having to leave a voicemail versus speaking to someone live), to the general unfriendliness of the staff, I can't recommend this practice for your children. Sitting in the waiting room while I write this review. This is our 3rd visit in 1 month. I find this place very awkward and unfriendly. Where do I start...you need to check-in from your car, don't just walk in, if you do the office manager will not acknowledge you. It's really awkward to stand at the desk and have him deliberately not look at you for a few minutes, then when he does he just points and says "go sit there." Doesn't say hi, doesn't ask your name, etc. Bring your own masks or they'll tell you to reschedule your appointment (with a fee). Remove your shoes to enter the building for sanitary reasons (yet they have dogs running around?). I find their practices a bit sneaky. They immediately gave my son nitrous for sealants without asking me, odd. He was squirming because he didn't like the mask over his nose. I asked them to remove it, the tech told me my son was too squirmy to NOT have nitrous. I assure her he's has plenty of work done without and he just doesn't like the gas mask over his nose. She reluctantly agreed to take it off, he was totally fine for the rest of his visit. Can't wait to see the bill for the laughing gas! 3rd visit was for a filling, the dentist was going to use some fancy laser instead of a traditional filling. She mentioned it casually like there wasn't an option. I asked if it was covered by insurance and she told me NO! Give me an option, fine. But to assume that's what I want to pay for it without asking is not ok! I asked for a traditional filling as those are covered by our insurance. Based on the way the quick conversation about it went I would guess a lot of people don't know this is optional and NOT covered by most insurances. Sneaky, sneaky. Now to the office manager. He asked for insurance information before our visit, I emailed it. We had our visit. I then get an email saying that our insurance says my son isn't covered (not true), I send same insurance information again. I get another email saying they've submitted the claim twice and my son is not covered and that I owe for the whole visit out of pocket. The email had a snotty tone and literally said "you may be active but your son is not." I spend 20 minutes on the phone with my insurance who tells me that not only is my son covered but THEY'VE ALREADY SUBMITTED PAYMENT TO DPD! I email again the SAME information I've sent 3 times now and they finally say "oops, you're right, we've been paid." I spent way too much of my free time dealing with their office and my insurance that was completely unnecessary since the information I originally sent was correct. We only came her because we need a pediatric dds for a problem. Can't wait to get back to our normal dentist who lets us wear shoes and doesn't act so shady and rude. read more

I only brought my toddler here out of convenience, but was never a fan of the front desk worker - the dentist's husband, or the techs. After confirmation for a cleaning and taking the COVID screening, we waited 15 minutes in the parking lot. The office is apparently closed and NO ONE called to tell us. We received a call at 8:15 with some lie about the dentist not being available - like I'm some kind of idiot. I will never return to, nor recommend, these liars with zero customer service. read more

I did not have a good experience. Please believe the negative reviews. I wish I had. 1. The assistant went to x-ray my daughter without a protective shield. I had to stop her and ask her if they had one. She said yes, but the machine isn't really harmful. I spoke with the office manager who also said the machine is less harmful then standing next to a microwave. I personally prefer a place that always uses a protective shield. 2. The dentist comes in and is shinning her light in my daughters eye. My daughter is complaining and she just keeps on going with her exam. Every other place I've been to uses sunglasses. I told my daughter to close her eyes. I asked the doctor, should we bring our own sunglasses next time. She said yes. I found her lack of care unusual for a pediatric dentist. 3. The office manager threatened me with action from their attorney if I wrote a review. I've never heard of such a thing. Anyways, this is my experience. I do not recommend them. read more

2 stars just for the Support staff being nice. The services that this dental office offers are not any different than any other one we have been too. What sets offices apart are the dentist and their bedside manners. I would say this dentist was just not genuine or very welcoming. I am also trying to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure for my children and didn't want xrays done. The dentist said that legally she has to take X-rays, however , I think she is misinformed. It's not a legal issue as much as it is a liability issue as per other dentist office I have contacted. Also, front desk is rude. Would not recommend-there are a lot of other great practices in our area. Will be moving on from here in the future. read more

I can be a tough critic when it comes to service. I'm self-aware and try to take that into account before my reviews. For this review, I have nothing to hold back. I am wrapping up my 2nd year visiting DuPage Pediatric Dentistry. First, dental care is superb. My kids (4 & 6) have gone to the dentist several times and every experience has been positive. However, that positivity has not prevented serious apprehension (by them) on our visits. DuPage Pediatric Dentistry (DPD) explains everything to my kiddies on every visit. Gloves, mirrors, drills, & why the staff are doing x, y, or z. The apprehension visibly melts away (until the next visit-LOL) from their faces. Ajay & the billing staff explain everything & go the extra mile to avoid any surprises. That makes MY apprehension melt away. I truly appreciate DPD & refer them highly! read more

PLEASE don't go here. they behaved like car salesmen and oversold me on a dental procedure for my 5 year told. It all felt off, so I got a second opinion from a well respected dentist who recommended fillings instead of root canals and crowns and pulling teeth. they took a $300 deposit and did not inform me it was non-refundable until I cancelled the procedure. I gave them a months notice and tried to work it out. When I called after cancelling, they no longer would return my calls; they did not return calls from the insurance company. Now I found out they forged my signature on documents to cover themselves. This office is unprofessional and I will be taking them to small claims court. ***updated since DPD decided to comment below. I did not sign. I find it HIGHLY unethical that you forged my signature. I have proof that there was no signature as I took screenshots from your portal showing no signature dating in February 2023 when you sent a forged form stating I signed December 27, 2022. I also find it highly disrespectful that no one from your office has ever called me back to discuss. I have been hung up on and also no one has ever gotten back to me. read more

Dr Chong is new to the practice and is an orthodontist. He is amazing!!! Always very detailed each visit and wIlling too answer any questions. He is very nice and a good conversationalist. My son has only had his braces for about 5 months and the difference is incredible. There was a bump in the road with the front office staff and my insurance coverage however after some persistence it was ironed out quickly. I highly recommend Dr Chong!!! read more

I've never written a one star review before, but this practice is shockingly dishonest and I hope to prevent others from experiencing what we did. While my four year old daughter was getting laughing gas for a filling, Dr. Joshi approached me with a bill and insisted I give her my credit card right then. The numbers didn't seem right, and I knew insurance would pay more. Dr. Joshi argued with me about the insurance, and I finally just handed over my card so I could focus on being there for my daughter. I figured I could sort it out later, and be reimbursed once insurance paid. However, following the appointment my husband has called multiple times, and the receptionist (Dr. Johsi's husband) was extremely rude and has refused to submit anything to insurance. Now they won't return our calls. This was such a bizarre experience, and clearly some shady tactic to get more out of pocket from clients than whatever is negotiated with insurance. I'm stunned at the level of dishonesty here. We've switched to The Dental Studio, and very happy there. read more

I have never written a negative post in my entire life and here is my first. From the start, the interaction is very bad. We went up to the front desk and the guy receptionist looking very pissed off just raise his finger signaling wait. Afterward, he asked us to take a seat with a very rude tone and there were no form of greeting. A little while passed and they ran out of shoe covers which is required to go into the office. He asked the customer to wait in the car which was a scorching hot day (no sympathy or courtesy). Another customer asked for shoe covers and the guy receptionist said they are out. I guess they don't want to do business. A few minutes passed and then he brings out more shoe covers evidently lying previously. Very bad customer service with no pediatric care or attention . I strongly recommended against this office. read more
