Went to Derby loc. last year. Needed follow up work, but decided not to go there. They were having turnover issues with drs at the time, and I wasn't treated right. ANOTHER thing that just came up: Last year, they set me up with "Care Credit", a credit card you use to pay medical bills. Yesterday, they charged me $478 for "deferred interest" on approx. $1000 Bal. I was told I signed up for a promotion that deferred interest, but I didn't realize it. I've had a LOT of dental work done, as Dr Chang can confirm, and this group of professionals really set the bar for friendliness, efficiency, and making available all possible information regarding my treatment . I'm a giant wuss when it comes to the dentist. I was very up-front with Dr Chang, telling her as soon as we met that "I have a very low pain threshold" when it comes to this kinda stuff. She nodded and said they'd do their best. Everything from the anaesthetic to the work itself was, in my mind, very tolerable - and that's really saying something! I especially like the the ceiling mounted TV, even though you can't hear much, it takes your mind off of the task at hand. read more

Do not go to this dentist office. Ive never had any serious issues with my teeth. I had a cavity filled here that began leaking within a month. I've expressed concerns to one of the dentists/hygienists here (because i've never seen the same more than once at this office) and all have been ignored or incorrectly explained pushing it to the side... I had a cleaning done this July of 2021 here. I randomlt had the urge to switch dentists. I just went for my second cleaning at Lightjouse Dental and they immediately saw red flags, which answered my concerns that I've spoke about to Dr Dental months prior. Not to mention I've come in for appointments and the front desk telling me that I am late when I have the confirmation email to prove and they actually have their books wrong. The dentist at this office, Dr. B, is excellent. However, the office staff is atrocious. I have had significant delays in completing the work that I am supposed to have done. They kept telling me that they needed authorization from my insurance to proceed, but after a month I had to make an appointment and go into the office to ensure that they actually submitted the procedure, as it hadn't been done yet. The doctor and I discussed another future potential treatment, and asked them to give me a cost estimate for that (not the treatment being done). The receptionist asked me to sign the treatment plan, and I tried to explain that this was not work actually being done. She insisted, so I signed it with a note that it was not for work being performed. When I arrived three weeks later to actually have the work done, the receptionist told me that they hadn't received authorization for the work, so I would have to pay and get reimbursed, and I owed them $3,000. I had to pay upfront because my insurance had not paid them for anything yet - However, I can see from my insurance company that they had improperly submitted the claims, and failed to provide the requested info, which is why they have not been paid. I asked to see an actual invoice for the work, and surprise, she pulled out the one I had previously signed, and couldn't comprehend, despite what was written, that that was not what was being done. After an hour, she finally managed to produce an invoice for the actual procedure. I gave them my credit card, and then was finally able to see the doctor. After discussion, the doctor and I decided not to proceed that route, and he told them to refund the charge to me. Not surprisingly, the incompetent one did not know how to process a refund, and stated that her manager would call me first thing in the morning. Two days later, surprise - No phone call, no refund! I will never set foot in the office again, solely based on the incompetence of the staff in front. This is a money making mill - when you are in the chair, you can see that they have monetary amounts and goals built into the daily schedule. I had problems with them with my first appointment in July with the non-stop calls and text messages and they said that they fixed it and they would only contact me once before my appointment. I got a text message it said reply c to confirm which I did I take unpaid time off of work I miss my morning meeting to go to this appointment that they then said I do not have. they said they don't know the doctor schedule 6 months in advance so all those appointments they make are fake appointments and then they call to reschedule the appointment and they called me yesterday to reschedule. first off if you're going to call and reschedule an appointment you should give someone more than a day's notice when this apparently is a regular thing and every appointment that is made is considered fake you know that you're going to change these appointments so you should give a person more than less than 24 hours notice. so when I showed up today they said that I did not have an appointment. I will never ever go here again. The girl at the front desk was nice and I know she was just doing her job she did not give me an attitude like others did back in July with the other problems I had. I cannot even describe how great this place is. I had to have 19 teeth pulled back in March. I totally chickened out but Dr. Bhargava understood. Fast forward to last week 8/19/2020 and I had the work done. He did such and awesome job and his staff is awesome. I've been scared of dentist for 30 years but I did it!!! Knowledgeable dentist and I trusted her immediately, which is important because of my deep seeded fear of dentists. This place is terrible!!! I felt like I was at a used car lot. I wanted a cleaning and X-rays not to be badgered to take out a loan to have a deep cleaning done. The dental hygienist was very lovely and sweet but the dentist himself was nothing but a salesman. I wonder what his kickback is for all the loans he gets people to take out. Everyone at Dr. Dental Derby, CT office were very personable. From the front desk lady (forgot her name, I think Jenny) to the Dental Assistant, Henry who did my xrays, to the dentist Dr. Schrieber* (*unsure of spelling), I had a really good physical exam/cleaning despite not liking the idea of going to the dentist to begin with. The dentist was very likable, knowledgable, that she even recommended certain toothpastes and techniques to brushing, and she engaged me in conversation and even made me laugh during the exam and cleaning!! I had a dental emergency and was nowhere near my dentist. I walked in to this dental clinic with no appointment and no dental records. Dr. Chae made the time to see me and deal with my issue. He asked me the pertinent questions and handled my situation with professional care. He installed a temporary filling and made sure that it was fitting properly before I left. They didn't badger me for any X-rays, cleanings or otherwise. I read the previous reviews but didn't experience any of these things. The staff was professional and put me at ease. I highly recommend this dental clinic. I am so grateful for their willingness to help me when I was in such a bind! read more

Wow what a great experience I had at Dr. Dental. First of all the young lady at the front desk was very nice and professional. Second the dental hygienist Farrah was very friendly and made you feel comfortable. And finally Dr. Kim was great! She made me feel I was in good hands and explained my options with professionism and kindness. I will without a doubt be back to continue my dental health. I went in for x rays and a cleaning was no happy at all.... The cleaning which normally takes 20 mins took less then 5.... Salesman impersonating as a dentist. At first I thought the dentist had a very soothing voice and this made me comfortable. I expressed concern about the crown over my root canal (from a long time ago) and then he proceeded with my exam/cleaning. I got jabbed in the lip and gums from time to time which I guess can happen but then he told me I needed a procedure done to that tooth. Ok. He told me husky would cover it (which is not true-I had researched this before I came in just in case). I also needed a few other things done, obviously not his fault. But then he suggested teeth whitening. I was like dude, I JUST told you I have husky. Anyway I overheard him tell the receptionist to suggest teeth whitening.....that's when I knew he was full of bs and I'd rather pay out of pocket for a second opinion than allow the states money go to this facility. Also, I wasn't too thrilled that as I was checking out with the receptionist, I started a conversation with the assistant that took my X-rays, about dental procedures and she couldn't stop texting or looked like she cared. I had to remind these people twice to give me a prescription THEY said I needed. The facility looked clean but so does every other business that is brand new so they really shouldn't even get that one star. read more

I chose to come to this location after reading all the positive google reviews and hearing positive things from a coworker. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. When I first came in for my appointment, I was told after I arrived that they had to cancel and reschedule for a week after. Trying to be accommodating, I didn't think twice. Sometimes things happen. When I came back for my appointment the following week, I waited for at least 45 minutes to be seen. The women up front were great and helped me understand my insurance. However, from the time they took me into the area to be seen until I left was maybe only 10 minutes, with seeing the dentist for only 3. The room isn't even a room, but a small area hidden by a curtain. They took two bitewings of one part of my mouth, and told me that they would not work on my teeth until I got a dental implant for 6,000. Wouldn't give me a cleaning or even look at the rest of my teeth to see if I had any cavities. The doctor told me they would look at the rest of my mouth after i got the implant done. He sent me on my way owing over $100. I did go to another local office for a second opinion, I got bitewings of my entire mouth, a full X-ray, comprehensive exam and a full hour with the dentist to discuss any questions and create a dental plan, and I owe less than half what Dr. Dental was going to charge me. I'm not usually one to leave negative reviews, but I think its important for people to know the negatives as well. Unfortunately it seemed the office cared more about the money coming in than the well-being of their patient. read more

This Dental office was awesome! Everyone was very pleasant and the Dentist made my little one feel very comfortable and made her first trip to the dentist fun and fast. The only downside I have is the fact that they've been spelling her name wrong and it's been written down on paper by me the correct way . I had the worst dental experience at this place. I decided to try a different dentist that was closer to me. I scheduled a cleaning at dr dental in derby. I arrived and the person taking my xrays decided to tell me he failed out of school multiple times and was extremely hungover while taking my XRAYS. Next, the dentist came in. Started with a metal tool in my mouth, pushed on my teeth for about two minutes and then told me that I had a cavity and a chipped tooth that she could fix that same appointment. I said that this was okay, thinking she would clean my teeth and then fill my tooth, and fix the chipped one. Nope, she immediately stopped my cleaning (no flossing, nothing was done) gave me a shot of novicane without warning (good thing I don't have a needle phobia) and started drilling at my two teeth. She did this in LITERALLY 4 minutes. I personally have had past experiences getting fillings and each took about 20 mins at least. I had faith and hope she was just good at what she did. After this, the assistant slapped some fluoride on my teeth and when I asked if I can spit it out he told me no, so I had to SWALLOW it. Fast forward about 7 hours (which is how long it took for the novicane to ware off) YEP YOU GUESS IT...I felt extreme pain on that side of my mouth, my cheek was swollen and very bruised. I called immediately and asked if this was normal circumstances as I had never experienced it before. The dentist (which was a different one then who did the procedure) told me this was not normal and that I needed to come back immediately. I came back, and he told me it was very swollen (which was obvious) and that he wasn't sure what had happened, and he was afraid a nerve was hit. SO, he then referred me to their surgeon so she can look for damage which couldn't see me for another 2 weeks...and prescribed ibuprofen 800 for the meantime. fast forward two weeks and i'm still bruised with the pain and I got no confirmation call. So I called...to find out they're CLOSED!!!!! I could have serious mouth damage caused by this place and they could care less. Don't go here. Also my chipped tooth is still chipped. read more

I recommend this place for a simple/easy check up, but not for some serious surgeries. If your teeth actually have a problem, go somewhere else...because I do think some of their dentists are not professional enough. I went in to check out my teeth cause my gum was swelling.... did the $57 combo (x-ray, cleaning, consultant), and the doctor said it was my wisdom teeth. I asked her is there anything wrong with my wisdom teeth....she looked at the x-ray and said it was normal and should be a simple extraction. They gave me a price ($520 total) and I made an appointment one week later. It was a different dentist who did my surgery.....and after everything was done, she pointed at the x-ray and was like "look how close between your nerve and root. It would be dangerous if I took the whole thing out. So I kept some of the root". Later when I checked out, they said it's gonna be around $450 per teeth (~$900 total)! I was shocked. It was almost double amount of money! They explained because it was a more complicated procedure. I was not happy about all of these. I did the consultant with a dentist about my wisdom teeth. She looked at my x-ray, she looked at my teeth, and she said there was nothing wrong with it! So if my nerve and root were so close and that was a problem, how could she didn't tell me at the beginning? I don't know who I should trust at this point. They did give me the original price in the end after talking to their manager. Overall, the price is good for a check out, the staff is friendly, they have a playground for kids which I think it's really cute. You do see a different dentist every time....some are professional, some are not...... if you have serious issue, it would be better to see a doctor that you trust. read more

Went in for a root canal, which they said they'd do...dentist wanted to take the whole tooth out, if not he couldn't help me. That was about a month ago. On Saturday my crown fell out. Went in this morning (7/20/15) to have it glued back in. I handed him the Baggie that housed my crown, he hardly looked at it while proceeding to tell me he'd have to take the whole tooth out. Thirty years experience and all he cares about is leaving gapping holes in people's smiles. If you want a quickie teeth cleaning during your lunch break or for the kids, this is the place. If you need any other dental work help, run! Fast and far away. Someone said he's a salesman masquerading as a dentist, totally agree. The nurses and receptionists are nice, sweet, great. The dentist on the other hand? Horrible! I will NOT be returning. read more

I would not recommend this dentist place because it's really really bad they took money away from us even if you have dental insurance they still charge when your not supposed to.
