Moved to the area a year ago. The home had an issue with some dandelions but mostly clover. After a year of their service clover has taken over 50% of the lawn, progressively worse each month. Every time I talked to them they said water more and cut higher. I was already watering 3-4 days a week and mowing at my mowers top height, 4". They couldn't even hold it at bay. Not surprisingly, after 2 missed visits (rescheduled) out of the 6 prepaid for, it was my fault they couldn't kill the clover. 2/5 would not recommend. read more

Signed up for program to spray for weeds, aerate and over seed my lawn. The weed spray and aerate were fine. However, over seeding was NOT. I had several bare spots in the back from the dog. After what they called "over seeding" meant 3 seeds in a 7" diameter of dirt. I had many of these spots in the yard. I called and complained. Someone came to re-do it. Same thing. After I was told they would rake the area before over seeding, the guy showed up said he had no rake on the truck. December paid what was I thought the final balance but in APRIL, 4 months later, I receive a bill for $76.00. They hounded me by email, text, snail-mail, and phone calls until yesterday I finally paid over the phone just to get rid of them. Please stay away. A friend recommended me this company and oh boy was that a mistake. They won't even cover your whole lawn. I caught the technician missing a good amount of my lawn when he was "spraying" on my camera. The customer service is downright awful. They'll take for ever to get back to you with any questions or concerns. It's definitely not worth your time or money. They promise to come back out to respray if the weeds aren't diminishing. I was called and asked if I wanted to pre-pay for aeration and reseeding at a discounted price. I said yes, but I couldn't do it at that moment. Asked him to call me back. He said, no worries, that he'd send someone out and I could just pay before they came out. I never paid, they sent someone out anyway, and then they charged me the non discounted price. They also keep you on the hook, stating that you wont get all the services you paid for unless you cancel after the last service for that year. IMO So, so, so shady. read more

Even after a shakey start to the service I continued to give them the benefit of the doubt. I was so disappointed by their service, follow through and the outcome of my lawn. I prepaid for lawn service AND mosquito service. 3 out of 6 times I had to call to inquire when my lawn services would be scheduled and only after that did they I receive service. After not receiving the 1 mosquito service and having to call for the 2nd and 3rd, I canceled and requested a refund. I am satisfied with the service overall, but have a few issues. I have a few patches of grass that are simply dead. No idea why. Many areas of yellowing grass despite watering. I was told it was due to heat but the grass did not respond regardless of the amount of water I put on it. Wonder if I would have the same issues if I just did it myself. They were not able to solve our crab grass problem after multiple failed attempts. In addition, they didn't apply a grub treatment and now our front yard has patches of dead grass. They completely ruined my lawn and are no longer returning calls or emails. My backyard is basically dirt - there are large areas that now have no evidence of grass ever being there it's so bad. You can see the area on the other side of my fence that is a wetland area and it's green. I would have been better off not doing anything at all instead of hiring these clowns. Watched them do my entire front and back lawn in less than 5 minutes. it was recorded on my nest doorbell. I watched the tech do my service, he missed huge areas on my front lawn. He did one pass at the top of the front lawn at my house and then did 1 pass at the bottom of my lawn, missing huge areas. I sent the video to their customer service, who then stated that they use GPS and measure how much they use, that is a load of garbage, and pointless if they are not spreading it across the entire lawn. I don't think this site will let me share my link, but I would happy to send a link to my nest camera to see the incredibly poor quality job they did with my lawn. BEWARE: Dr. Green is a bait and switch scam. They have favorable reviews on Google because they offer free pest control service in exchange for a 5 star review. They send a mailer advertising multiple free treatments such as fungicide and grub control. Then if you cancel they claim it is a subscription service and charge for the grub control. This was never explained during the initial call to set up services. They claim that it is agreed upon because they state it in their welcome email. They violate consumer rights. They are unethical and use deceptive billing practices. No contract was ever signed or verbally agreed upon. No conditions were ever explained to the consumer. It doesn't matter who you speak to, Shana (office manager), James (Director of Operations who doesn't return calls) to handle it, they will still call and email harassing you for money you don't owe. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY! It is a SCAM. Every time they sprayed I had more weeds. I had paid an up front fee for a yearly service discount. The first time they sprayed the technician (or so they call their workers) drug the hose through my flower bed, destroying several plants. They issued me a $79.00 credit. Later when I cancelled they said I would receive no credit because their supposedly free grub service was now chargeable. My $79.00 credit also disappeared. I have no idea how to know they really did the service since they said they did it in the summer and grub control is supposed to only work in early spring. I singed up for the first time this year with Dr. Green. I usually have done my lawn fertilizing myself but decided to have a service do it this year. I have to say my lawn has never looked worse ! I have called them out several times to treat the weeds, which seem to never go away. My neighbor's lawn is thick & green were my lawn is not, thin and have dead spots and no where near a dark green. They came out and told me it was heat stress. but I water the same amount as my neighbor does and his grass is doing great. I tried to cancel and get my money back, but they want to charge me for the free grub control plus 10% service fee. $150 for the grub control. I will just finish out this year and I'm done with them. P.S. You are to get a $25 give card which I have asked 4 times to send it to me (Email). Still haven't received it and yes I checked my junk mail. I talked to them today and she sent a test Email and I received it right away. So I don't know if I'll ever get the card. read more

Hi Dr. Green, Thanks for all the services you provided so far. This is my second year as customer still expecting considerable improvement in my lawn in the Dallas metroplex. And you know what, this year I even pre-paid for the whole year. I am very dissatisfied and yet I gave a 2 star for God knows what reason. Inspite of the treatments, and consistent requesting for some correction, my lawn on one side has been taken over by a wide blade grass from somewhere. And certain areas, it dried up. And most of the areas, there is some small leaf weed that took over the lawn like nervous system. And there are pockets of fire-ants too. I never had these problems before I used Dr. Green. When Dr. Green wanted to start service, they marketed in such a way that they are the best, they take care of everything for the price I pay, they use the best stuff and they will ensure consistently I will have a healthy, green lawn. And now finally I am at a stage where I basically lost my whole lawn after I gave it to Dr. Green. The front side is still looking OK by God's grace. I could not post any photos to show what I am talking about. But I shall try posting some pictures on other websites, along with this review, just to make sure I am not saying something wrong. And, oh by the way, recently I got a call for getting some additional services done. I don't think I want to pay another cent more to Dr. Green till my lawn is rectified and I told the same to the customer service personnel. He said he will send someone. Next day I got an automated call on Friday 10/2 morning saying that someone will come and treat my lawn weather permitting in the next 24-48 hours. No one has come so far and the weather was pretty good (no rain if that's what "weather permitting" meant.) If I could give this lawn care service a -5 star review i would. My 83 year old mother who has lived at her home now for over 30 years has always had a beautiful well maintained yard. We were having minor issues with nutsedge and grub worms during the summer of 2018 in May so We decided to call Dr. Green Lawn Care Services. After a couple of months, the issue with nutsedge was under control, but we were still battling an infestation of grub worms and weeds. We were paying for the treatment but her yard both front and back were looking worse and worse every single month. By the time August came by my mom had sent me pictures of the yard because i was living out of the country and still living out of the country at this time. I could not believe was i was seeing. Her yard was ruined and I had only 1 person to blame, the idiotic, unprofessional, thuggish of a company we hired to keep the weeds and grub worms under control. The chemicals they used are extremely harsh and the technicians have no experience in handling these types of situations. Both my mother and I have made several attempts to rectify this situation, by calling this lawn care service to give us a yard assessment to see how they were going to correct this repulsive mess theyve created. I personally spoke with the owner Mr Ryan Van Haastrecht who is the president as well from joliet, il. He stated verbatim that they would be out to my mothers house in mid march. Mid March turned into the latter part of March to the 1st of April to the 8th of April to now, no call no show. Both my mother and I have spoke to a lady by the name of Brooke who is also out of Joliet Il. , who is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Deceitful, conniving and a manipulative person who has now hung up on me and does not want anything to do with us after taking our money. This is obviously not a reputable company. We have also spoken to a man by the name of jim who seems to be Ryans right hand man who covers up for him by saying he is not in right now may I take a message for him. Ive also dealt with a guy by the name of ernest who i believe is a sr. tech for Dr. Greens in carrollton Tx. These people in my opinion are all scam artist'. 650.00 later, our lawn is in a drastic mess and will now take alot more money to get this lawn up and going and looking beautiful like it once was. Dr. Green's services were awful. They started out fine with comparable rates. After a few months I was receiving new charges I did not request. If I did I don't remember and requested them take the small fees off. What a hassle with my attempts. Moving forward, I requested a reapplication of mosquito spray since those blood suckers came back. The technician checked the box stating they reapplied, however, I caught them lying from my video surveillance. Spoke to a manager who was apologetic but didn't help any further. Worst. Lawncare service. Ever. Fool me ONCE. I signed up for Dr. Green in the Spring of 2018 - purchased the full season plan - as it saved me almost $100 over the competitors plan. Here is what I got in return for my $100 savings: 1) A nearly 2 month gap where they did not treat my lawn in the dead of summer. Crabgrass ran rampant, and despite multiple calls for re-treatment of my lawn, they did not show up for weeks. My lawn looked WORSE than previous summer where I had treated it myself with $50 bag of TurfBuilder. 2) A free "Fall Core Aeration" was included with the package. This was done in the rain. Done in the rain on a lawn that was fully saturated from previous days of HEAVY rain. Do you know what an Aeration ride-on machine does to a lawn that is fully saturated? It tears it to SHREDS. Absolutely unacceptable. Negligent. Ignorant. Destructive. 3) The last fall treatment on my lawn was done IN THE SNOW. I returned home from work and could not figure out what the tracks in the snow were all over my yard - Did a drunk come down our cul-de-sac in broad daylight and do a doughnut in my front yard???? Then I saw fertilizer on the driveway and the Dr. Green treatment tag on the door. You read that right. They put down the fall weed treatment a top a layer of freaking SNOW. They fertilized my snow. Here is my summation of what happened to result in Dr. Green having 1-star reviews across the board on Yelp: - They started a new lawncare service knowing they'd nail some contracts by sending out a massive amount of mailers undercutting the competition. - They were grossly understaffed for the summer - They played catch-up all season and, if you read #3 above, were still catching up in late October when they were putting down weed killer on a half inch of snow and frozen ground. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. There should be some sort a class action lawsuit against the moron, or morons, that started Dr. Green. The choice was easy! No! No! No! I got lazy last year and decided to have my lawn fertilized and maintained by a professional. BIG MISTAKE! After having Dr. Green last year for their complete program I would never have them again. What was the problem I had? Many. They are supposed to let you know when they are coming for a treatment. Don't count on it. They would sometimes call or email, sometimes not. Rarely was the visit within a day or two of when they said. Several times I had to call after weeks of when they said they were coming to remind them that they needed to come. When they did come the Dr. Green person would zoom through the yard missing areas. and leave with fertilizer/weed killer on the sidewalk and drive. No attempt made to remove it. I don't know what they used for weed killer, but whatever it was didn't work. In the past when I did it myself I had very very few weeds. After Dr. Green started by the middle of June my lawn was loaded with weeds. I called and finally got a supervisor to come out and later they made another weed killer application. It took weeks for some of the weeds to die but not all died. I finally just went around the yard myself with weed killer from Home Depot. Weeds died within a day. Probably the funniest thing came at the end of the season when I was waiting for the core aeration to be done. I called several times because it hadn't been done. Understandably there were some weather issues, but I started calling in September. They finally core aerated in the third week of November with snow on the ground. They left a note that if I was planting grass seed I needed to keep my lawn watered for the next three weeks! I am supposed to be watering grass seed in December?? I live in northern Illinois. Really? When I called to be sure my lawn service would not automatically renew I was asked why I was not renewing. I began going through the things that were a problem. After I mentioned two problems I was interrupted and the Dr. Green person said, "So, multiple problems." I said "Yes" and he said "OK" and hung up! I know that this may not be representative of all Dr. Green locations, but if you live near or are serviced by the Joliet location you will probably be wasting your money if you hire them. read more
