This company is a joke. If I could give them a zero rating, I would. First Service guy damaged my grass while trying to get his machine through the gate and didn't mention anything about it. Since he couldn't get the machine through the gate, he told me that he will get someone to do my lawn the following week and it took them 3 weeks to come back. Not only it took them weeks to come back, they damaged my brand new gate and left without saying a word about it. Now weeks after, I still haven't heard back from them to see what they are going to do about my gate. read more

I even sent them a video two weeks ago - it did not matter. I have repeated asked them to come out to get rid of weeds and it has not improved. Dr. Green did not respond at all after my initial call with them and payment for service of $320 on the 12th of March. I also purchased a Living Social deal with them and they marked the deal as redeemed. Now Living Social will not refund me on this matter. NO SERVICE HAS BEEN PROVIDED and none was scheduled despite the contractual agreement of service within 5 days. Dr. Green has a ZERO refund policy. Buyer beware, services paid for are NOT rendered. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB and disputed the charges on my credit card. Living Social and Dr. Green have both stopped responding to my requests for refund. I am tired of arguing with Yelp, and will simply say this. 1) I am offended that my update was taken down; 2) We have had a bumpy road with Dr. Green starting out strong, then fading fast; 3) My update was intended to let people know that they have REALLY gone above and beyond what I would have expected, and that our lawn looks great this year. To that end, I posted the following: Happy to say we feel like we are getting 5 star service now. Our lawn is amazingly lush and green, nearly weed-free, and growing strong. Granted, it's early, and we have had a lot of rain, but our lawn is BY FAR the best in the neighborhood. Over the years we have fertilized ourselves, then used Scotts, then TruGreen, and have now been with Dr. Green for three (or is it four?) years. I honestly don't remember, but we definitely will be staying with them. We have lived in our home since 1991, and our lawn has never looked better. Period. Evidently "The Yelp Community" objected to my update. So I have to write a new review. So there you go. 5 star. And I am TRULY offended that someone with no knowledge of my personal experience with Dr. Green has the power to decide what of my content will be listed. They are far from perfect, but they have been VERY responsive to every issue, and like I said in the (removed) update? Our lawn looks GREAT this year. Got their Living Social deal. It cost $19 for a one-step weed/pre-emergent treatment. Called them to schedule the service and was told they'd be out within five business days as the fine print says on the coupon. Five business days were up and they never came. When I called to reschedule, I was told that was never on the books but a nice lady told me they would "rush" the request and someone showed up two days later. I was not home on the day of treatment but I was asked to keep the dogs in and gates unlocked which I did. Apparently, someone came and went but before they did they had left a little sign asking me not to walk on the lawn until the treatment dries. OK. Done. About four to five days later, I see that the same weeds (which by now have actually grown into little shrubs by now) and nothing appeared dead. I called about this and was told the treatment should last two-to-three weeks but in order to actually "see" results I've have to sign an annual contract with them before returning for a re-treatment. (WTH? I could've gone to Home Depot to get 2 gallons of weed killer for $13, sprayed the yard myself and would've seen dried up weeds in hours!!) I dragged my heels in writing this review as I knew it would require a good chunk of my time but I also feel obligated to share my experience with everyone to avoid getting duped into a annual contract which costs anywhere from $300 - $500 and wasting $19 in the process. Btw, all the positive reviews written by Yelp users with fewer than 2-3 reviews that have been filtered is also a HUGE red flag. Don't hold your breath waiting for this company to show up. I purchased a 3 step program. They came the first time about 2 months ago and sprinkled very little of their product. They did not call or email me before coming (pet safety). Didn't hear from them about weeding/feeding and it was the beginning of May. So, I called to see when they would be out. They said they were scheduled in the next two weeks! They never showed up. I called again, and received a message that I was scheduled for the next Monday. Never showed up. I called again the following Tuesday late afternoon and was told I was still on the schedule? You guessed right ... no one showed up. So, I called again 5PM Wednesday (5/25/11) and told them if no one shows up tomorrow I am cancelling and contacting the better business bureau. As of today they are scheduled to show up tomorrow. Whether or not they show up is doubtful. By now, not only do I have so many weeds it is not funny, but they have developed an enormously good root system that getting rid of them will probably cost me more money. I cancelled my service between 2012-2013 after rates doubled from the 2012 Living Social deal. I then received a call from "Mark" in May 2013 telling me he was taking my acct. "off hold" and re-starting services and asking me to call him at 8157749477 if that's not ok. I tried several times and that # was always busy. Very shady practices. I'm not sure what kind of gimmick they are trying to pull, but I clearly asked that all services be stopped/cancelled, not "put on hold". Stay away from this company! read more

You DO get what you pay for. Dr. Green may be a little cheaper than some of the other services out there, but wow, they are in a different world when it comes to value. I was home and able to watch as some of the applications were performed. I'm not sure what "pattern" the tech was going for but I could clearly see him skip big sections of the lawn. Also, I had weeds and crabgrass that never even wilted, even after "treatment". Same story with Aeration. There were huge patches where there was nothing done. I made the mistake of falling for the overseed service too. I'm not sure what he spread out (by hand mind you; NO spreader), but it sure didn't grow anything resembling grass this year. Maybe I needed to pop for the "Winterizer" to activate the "grass seed" so something would grow. Bottom line, I feel like doing nothing would yield the same results I saw using Dr Green, and it would be MUCH cheaper. read more

Driving on 88 they were driving extremely recklessly. Probably going near 90mph (considering I was going 75 and they flew by me) I also saw them smoking and texting. On top of that I watched 1 bag of fertilizer fly out and explode on the pavement behind them and encountered a second later on down the road. Customer service and billing techniques used by Dr. Green continue to baffle me. When I first decided earlier in the season to use Dr. Green's services on the advice of a neighbor, I was looking forward to their seven-step program with one payment ($300ish) up front. I called the number my neighbor gave me and after waiting on hold for a while spoke to a representative and answered about a dozen questions and in the end I thought I had signed on as a customer with the seven-step program and one up front payment. This program included several fertilizer treatments, soil conditioner, grub killer, and aeration in the fall, etc. Two days later, I received a call from Dr. Green who proceeded to ask me the same dozen questions and recommend a five-step program at a bill-as-you-go rate. After some discussion, I was finally able to make the caller understand what I wanted. Despite the wonderful weather over the Spring, no services were rendered for over two weeks...prompting me to call again. For some reason, Dr. Green had placed my account on "hold" because I was having landscape work done. I informed the representative from Dr. Green (after again waiting on hold) that I was not in fact having and such landscaping work done and I was promised that services would begin in the next couple days. I reminded the representative that I wanted the one payment up front billing and asked to please be sent an invoice that I could pay. Sure enough, Dr. Green rendered services two days later, and left a bill for $49 at my house (which I paid). Another week passed, and Dr. Green returned to again render service (aeration...which I was told in my very first conversation was better to do in fall at the end of the season. Odd), and once again a bill for $49 was left at my home. At this point, I wrote a letter to Dr. Green which I included with my payment, document all of my issues with the company. A couple of days later there was a message on my phone from a "manager" who gave me a phone number to a "direct line" that I could call w/out having to wait on hold. I called several times, only to have nobody pick up and was not able to leave a message since the "mailbox was full." What a joke...I guess that I shouldnt be surprised by this. I'm guessing that the mailbox was full with messages from months past from customers like me. Problem solved? Not at all. Two weeks later Dr. Green came around to render service and left me another $49 bill. I paid it and wrote another letter to the company. I'm looking forward to another game of phone tag. After pre-paying for five applications that I was told were to be completed by September (it is the beginning of August and we have had two), I was called multiple times regarding payment in addition to receiving invoices on my front door. Their customer service department said they had "looked into the matter, and also brought in management to do so" but couldn't find a cleared check in their system. They even asked me to email them proof of the check clearing through my own account. Which it did... TWO MONTHS AGO. After doing so I had to call and follow up myself (my friendly sales rep of course quit the week after I purchased the services from him) only to find that they had opened multiple accounts for me. What? When I told them this entire issue was unacceptable and that my lawn looks WORSE than when I began their treatments they said they do not give refunds under any circumstances. They also said I needed to let them finish the five applications in order to see any results. Which is great, considering their fifth application will now end up being in October. We purchased Dr. Green lawn services for weed control and paid well over what we used to pay, foolishly thinking it would be better quality, it was far from it. We paid $371.69 for the services. Every time they sprayed there seemed there were more and more weeds, when I contacted them, they would always say give it time. Well that only made it worse, I would end up going out there in the sweltering heat pulling the weeds in which I paid dearly to not do! One of the last times I called was well before the 4th of July holiday. I called the 3rd week of June the 24th and spoke with Kathy, once again was "Oh give it time, bla bla, bia and call us back next Friday. Well, I did not want to wait that close to the holiday, so I called on Thursday the 30th. I told her I'm not waiting I need someone out here before the 4th. She said, 'Oh I will put a call out to the district person and call you back'. Well as usual no call back so later that day I called before 5 and the recording said we will be out for the holiday until July 5th. She knew when she told me to call on Friday that they would not be in the office and furthermore no-one takes and it serious as another time after the holiday, someone answered who was seemingly nice and understanding and said-I will make sure they knock on your door when they get there so you can show them the worst spots, and then I will call you to follow up after, well I was watching, as I work from home and not only did he not knock she never called. Needless to say, I am still out there pulling the weeds that I had to prepay for (for the service I am not getting). read more

After 3 time calling and them telling me I'd get the coupon I was owed I called one more time and saqid "Three strikes your out." the gentlemen on the phone said if I can get you what you want right now will you stay." I said sure. He put me on hold and said, "The person who does those is not here but I can have him get it to you this evening." This was the EXACT same thing they had told me 3 times before. I said, "Please cancel my account." He said it is pending a call from the account manage in two days.. I said, "NO. Cancel it now." Canceled." He said. Needless to say, two weeks later I get a call from the LOCAL account manager. Long story shot. The only had 300 of the coupon I wanted and 700 people had signed up." I was curious. Is my account canceled? No it's pending he said. He said he canceled it but we shall see. It took 4 phone calls. 3 weeks and canceling my service to get a call from the local rep. Do yourself a Favor. Just look up Dr. Green on the BBB.com You will see a litany of complaints waged against Dr. Green. Whether you call for a 4 time a year treatment, a one time aeration or just a simple Groupon year code. Once they come to your house its all over. They will keep coming and keep billing. Regardless of how many times you call to cancel or how many times their manager Mark tells you its "Free", they will keep billing and providing services until you contact the BBB. That is the only way to get Dr. Green to stop providing services and billing. Not to mention the fact that you'll have a lawn destroyed because of them. Like us, we cancelled and went with a local provider who was cheaper and gave us excellent customer support. Now our lawn is literally burning up in front of our eyes, because Dr. green keeps on treating our lawn after our other provider has. Let me start by saying that this is the first season I have used Dr Green. Started out good when I called and received a package deal for the entire season. The first two applications went alright. I have a newly sodded yard in its second season. Little to no weeds, as I maintained it last summer. This summer I went Dr Green. The third application over a few weeks ago was placed on a day when we received over an inch of rain. I'm sure the fertilization washed away. Got a call from Dr Green this past Saturday, June 3, 2017 to sign up for lawn aeration at a discounted price for the service to be this September. I said sure, but if I get a better price am I able to cancel. "Of course you are sir" was the response. I get home from work today June 7, and my lawn is aerated. Unreal!!! You don't aerate a lawn in June when we've not had rain in 15 days. In JUNE! What a scam and a bunch of conniving, unprofessional, unethical salesmen. I should have known better. I'm sure they have ruined my lawn. I will be contacting the BBB and States Attorneys Office for fraudulent business practices tomorrow morning. Stay far, far, far away!! read more

I am not sure if anyone experienced this with Dr Green Lawn Services.. After complaining for months about creeping charlie in yard, Dr green didn't do anything to address it. They kept saying someone is going to come and take a look but no one did. I asked them to make sure they call me before they come in to investigate the problem, so I can show them the problem areas etc.. but no calls were received. Finally I called them again and cancelled my contract, which I was under the impression that I can cancel anytime without incurring any penalty. I purchased an Amazon Deal for a lawn and weed treatment from this company. The customer service the first and second time I called was questionable. I made an appointment on Monday Sept. 12, and no one came til the following Monday, which I would not have even know had I not called back and the person said someone should be at my house within the hour. I have no idea if they came to do the lawn b/c normally when someone comes on the property the dog barks and the dog did not bark once if they indeed came and did the lawn treatment. After many months of going back and forth with the company over my issues, I was contacted by a manager (Shawn) who seemed genuinely concerned and was able to resolve my problem. While I wish this could have happened way back when, I was told that my issue was due to an unscrupulous employee (who I am told is no longer employed by the company) and I believe this response to be genuine.
