Such deliciously creamy ice cream! Checked it out on an ice cream crawl we did for my birthday to both Dr. Mike's and Ferris, and both are out of this world! So creamy and fresh! Loved the peace and ease of getting the ice cream and sitting here (no line and plentiful outdoor seating). Delicious Oreo peanut butter ice cream. My whole family loved it so much. Been to Dr. Mike's many times in the past and the ice cream was always good and portions generous. I don't know what happened, but the portion size has shrunk, even though the price hasn't. It's still very good ice cream and flavors, but at almost $20 for 2 ice creams, the amount of ice cream you get is a disappointment. Lately, we've been going to Ferris Acres or Rich's where you get delicious ice cream and a good bang for your buck. read more

My favorite ice cream in an area with great ice cream. Dr Mike's is SO good. The peanut butter Oreo is a constant favorite but pretty much anything I get is delicious. Can't beat the price and it doesn't have an insanely long line or wait. The staff is also always so kind. The ice cream has consistently been the best ice cream I've ever had in my admittedly long life! My fave is a two scoop - one trad chocolate and the coffee of course- sundae with their to-die-for hot fudge and homemade crème fraiche! One tiny quibble- sweeten up your creme fraiche! So 8 years later I returned. I remember I didn't like it years ago.. I remember freezer burn. But I was craving ice cream when in the area and so we returned and it was delicious! Like the most perfect chewy and creamy texture that is so hard to fine. The chocolate flavor was not too strong and the brownies inside perfectly soft and chewy. The peanut butter ice cream also was delicious. So I owe Dr. Mikes an apology many years later for that bad review. read more

Discovered this gem while driving to Fairfield today & just had to pull over to check it out! This walk up ice cream shop had some interesting flavors that I've never tried before, like the maple chocolate chip that I went with! It was so delicious & you can test taste a flavor before you buy! Their homemade whipped cream is to die for and their size small ice cream was actually pretty big! I live right around the corner, and because it's such a favorite place according to reviews I have given it many chances. I'm just not a fan. Almost all of their flavors are vanilla based, with the flavors added in. Today, I enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin flavor because it wasn't just a vanilla ice cream with added nuggets of something. Went to Dr. Mike's tonight. I hadn't been in a few years, just due to proximity. A few downsides: the place is pretty small, it's cash-only, and they only have a limited number of flavors (tonight there were 10). On the upside, the service is fast, the portions are huge, and it's homemade daily. I had mocha chip and chocolate lace. The chocolate lace was outstanding; I would highly recommend it. The mocha chip was good, but the flavor didn't really stand out to me. My daughter had the rich chocolate, which was very good, but I like chips and chunks, and it didn't have either. read more

Love this ice cream shop - they have a parking lot in back, so no struggling for street parking. The interior is a little small, but there is seating in picnic tables outside. Welll... there's a new owner in town. And boy oh boy... is he the real deal!! Stopped by on a cold, snowy February day... (weird, I know... but I was craving rich chocolate!!) Steve (I think?) bought the place, was in the middle of renovating, but said 'of course I'll scoop you ice cream!!' He insisted on topping our Rich Chocolate with a scoop of CT Mud Pie... cause there 'wasn't enough chocolate.' We also got a fully packed butter pecan. Welp... my son ate the 'top...' CT Mud Pie... and claimed a new fave. We still haven't hit the rich chocolate!! ( but we willllll!!) As for the Butter Pecan... it was pretty much sweet cream and pecans. And almost life changing!! Smaller than some of the better known CT ice cream shops, but with the best ice cream I've had even from those other places. Plus you don't have to wait in line forever. Their flavors rotate, but I usually choose their Chocolate Lace ice cream in a hot fudge sundae with their real whipped cream. Best hot fudge anywhere and the real home-made whipped cream shows they don't skimp. Dr. Mike's is worth the trip! read more

If you like rich, creamy and true old fashioned ice cream, Dr. Mike's is hard to beat! Ice Cream is one of my favorite foods. I have experienced good ice cream in many places across the US and abroad. Good ice cream has just the right amount of butterfat; you can taste it in the consistency of Dr. Mike's. Their Coffee flavor is one of the Top 5 I have ever tasted. I drive from out of town specifically to eat Dr. Mike's Coffee in Bethel. There are many choices of ice cream, certainly Dr. Mike's is way up on the list! Hope they open alot more locations! read more

Dr Mike's Ice Cream is overall very good. First off, the ice cream came fairly quickly, considering that there were about 30 people ordering. The ambiance of the place was decent it had some outdoor benches but nothing to exciting. The ice cream however tasted amazing, it didn't melt and even the smallest size was quite big. I would give Dr Mike's a five star. read more

Great old mom and pop homemade ice cream shop that offers quality and quantity at a fabulous cash price. Their hot fudge is top notch and the whipped cream is freshly made (you can even see it being whipped in their kitchen aid). Their cherry vanilla and chocolate lace knock it out of the park. Limited hours during the winter months but great ice cream spot with a vivacious staff that cares for their customers. This place really deserves a 4.5!! read more

Dr mike (Robert Allison) quickly kicked me a jewish student out of his establishment. I walked into the store after temple, the man was there yelling at his asian employee, who seemed scared of him. I was still wearing my kippah, Robert told me that if I was wearing my kippah he would refuse service to me. After stating that i wouldn't remove my kippah for him due to his bigotry. He kicked me out for refusing to meet his terms. read more

I actually saw him yell at some high school girls and chase them down the street because they parked on the other side of the parking lot and not buying his ice cream. Because the ice cream scoopers are so young and clueless about custom service, I was given a quart of mostly melted ice cream. Since quarts are to-go, there should be very cold, hard ice cream put into them... Oh well, when you cut costs on your employees and leave your business in the hands of babes, it's no big surprise the operation goes downhill. read more

If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. The owner is a disgusting and hateful man with regard to nothing other than his own profit. The ice cream is bland at best and drab at worst. I will not be returning and advise everyone else to do the same. read more
