Soft vanilla ice cream with peanut sauce, whipped cream and Reese's pieces in a cup. Waited about 15 minutes for them to make it. Delicious. Lots of other flavors to choose from. Shared with my hubby on a wood bench nearby, under a tree for shade. To the right of the building is the staff parking. To the left is customer parking. This early, no problem finding a spot. Express line all the way! This is the secret. Skip the 45-minute regular line and go straight to the express. Within 4 minutes, you've got a pint of delicious Bada bing (dark chocolate and cherries) ice cream, a razz ice cream sandwich, and Oreo slider. We were lucky to go to Ferris Acres on a summer Sunday and encounter a very manageable short wait to order and receive our ice cream. It is always worth waiting for...but sometimes you just don't feel like dealing with the crowds. The cows in the pasture across the street welcomed us to our first stop on our ice cream crawl. The options were endless. The coconut chocolate chip was good, but the blueberry cheesecake flavor was great. Service was friendly and reasonably fast given it was a hot summer afternoon. My favorite, Badda Bing, is SO tasty but available at Villarina's, so I reluctantly skipped it on this visit to the farm. I can't wait till the Fall when the apple crisp/crumble flavors are available again. All in all, I love the intense and interesting flavors. read more

Delicious! We went on the 4th of July around 8pm and it was very busy. They had staff helping to park everyone though which was much appreciated. There were lots of dogs around. The line was very long but actually moved quickly. We got a raspberry chunk and m&m flavors which were both very yummy. The ice cream is great quality. We got smalls and they were plenty to fill us up. Next time we might get a few toddler sizes to share and be able to try more flavors. I'd say it's worth the drive and adventure! read more

LOL We are having a blast trying all the local creameries and had to drive 1.5 hrs to come here and it was SO worth it!! Best ice cream of every place we have tried over the last 5 months and my husband LOVES ice cream so we have tried a lot! Delicious, homemade waffle cones, reasonable prices (even adults can get a waffle cone with 1 scoop that they call a toddler cone - haha), and it was more than enough for me! We were so in love with our cones we forgot to take pics, but we highly recommend the peppermint oreo! We are regulars here and love the ice cream, but we've had a horrible experience with the parking staff on our past few trips here. When we saw the "lot full" sign being put out as we were about to pull in, we asked them if we could turn around in the parking lot. Instead of nicely asking us turn around up the road, the attendant started screaming at us, saying, "No parking! Keep driving! Just keep driving!" and didn't answer our question. Ive also been there before when people ask about handicap parking and they've told them "Nope not available." I hope they'll educate their parking attendants on how to treat customers in the future because this is the second or third rude encounter we've had with them. Besides the parking staff, the other staff have been wonderful! Regardless of those issues, the ice cream is truly so yummy! My favorite flavors are Bada Bing, Black Raspberry, and Mocha Mayhem! I usually get 2 scoops in a waffle cone or their brownie sundae, which is delicious. I'd definitely recommend coming on the earlier end if you want to avoid the crowds, but the wait is always worth it. You should also note that if you are unable to get parking in the lot, you can park on the road, but you need to be careful about not parking in the 'no parking zone' and cant be over the white line. The police regularly patrol this area and ticket people. I've seen them ticket almost every car on this road before so be careful! read more

Went there at 8pm on a Monday. Waited a few minutes to order and another 10 minutes to get our ice cream. Great time to go with not much wait, staff was attentive and friendly, very on the ball. Purchased the cannoli sundae and it was phenomenal. Way better than Rich's farm ice cream and the price at Ferris you can't beat. Ice cream is always good. As far as I know, it's three ingredients: cold, cream, and sugar. It's all but impossible to screw up. What's rare though, and honestly impressive, is the elevation of it. How do you make a simple and universally delicious treat notably better? I have no idea. But Ferris Acres Creamery has figured it out. Maybe it's the beautiful autumnal backdrop and picturesque natural surroundings. Maybe it's as simple as the obviously fresh dairy (from the picnic tables, you can see cows grazing the bucolic field nearby). But for whatever reason, it tastes noticeably better here. Ferris came up on all three, and one of those said it was THE BEST in the state. Not sure I can definitively judge on the merits of that claim, but I can tell you that Ferris makes some of the very best ice cream I've ever tasted. Our ice cream was super creamy, full of flavor, and just plain fantastic. We both went for a small cup ($5.50) with two scoops. Cup #1 had Bada Bing (an almond and chocolate ice cream, with dark chocolate chunks and Bing Cherries) and Raspberry Swirl Chunk (Vanilla ice cream with raspberry swirls and dark chocolate chunks). Cup #2 had Coconut Chocolate Chunk (Coconut ice cream with coconut flakes and dark chocolate chunks) and Elvis Dream (Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, banana, and dark chocolate chunks). The flavors were intense, the chocolate chips were excellent, the portion sizes were generous, the pricing was OK, and the service was friendly and efficient. At the beginning of '24, for my Food Blog, I created a Foodie New Years Resolution List of 9 places I wanted to visit, and Ferris Acres was the first place I listed. Ferris was one of the very few highly regarded ice cream spots in CT I hadn't visited. Earlier this year, I finally made it. And I get the buzz. I had actually driven by Ferris before, but it was so insanely busy that I didn't stop. It was also very busy when I visited, but I was armed with some info from Foodie Friend Emma D -- Ferris has a small side takeout window where you can get prepackaged ice cream. While that ultimately saved me from waiting in what I suspect was a 30 minute line for a Sundae, it didn't help with parking. I must have circled for about 10 minutes to find a space. It seems like they probably have space to expand their parking. That might be a good idea given their popularity. One of my Go To Moves when I try a very popular new place is to ask the person who helps me what the most popular choices are. The person who helped me, who was younger, professional and friendly, kind of struggled to come up with recommendations. That line moved so quickly, that I hadn't had much time to explore the flavors. So on the spot, I decided on Red White and Moo (which had a fruit vibe), Toasted Almond, PBC2, and Razz Swirl Chocolate Chunk. If I had just waited a minute, a customer who was a Ferris flavor expert got in line behind me and I suspect her recs would have improved my experience. I transported the ice cream on ice 45 minutes for later eating. The ice cream had great texture. The PBC2, which was peanut butter and chocolate, was my favorite. The Toasted Almond didn't pop for me, but the other flavors were good. Rich flavor in all the ice cream. The huge chocolate chips were awesome. To be honest, none of these flavors are common orders for me, and I suspect I would have connected better with other flavors, but they were well executed. Came here on a Friday night to try. They were busy. There is a lot of parking but it fills up. They had employees directing parking and at times closing the lot. A large variety of ice cream and other items such as fresh eggs, berry sundaes, shakes, and treats for dogs. Since it is on the farm, all of the ingredients are fresh. There are tables and benches that you can sit and relax for a few. The ice cream was delicious. I had Grasshopper and toasted almond. I preferred the grasshopper. Very creamy and fresh. This is not the half gallon of Breyers you get from the supermarket. The prices were much cheaper than I expected. Overall great experience. Since it is on a farm, it smelled like a farm. My fiancée and daughter and I hit up Ferris Acres while on our unofficial "Tour de Ice Cream" through CT, and this place is the cow's utter. No joke, you can actually see the cows that made your scoop just chilling and munching in the field across the street. The flavor options? Almost too many. I didn't even know that was possible when it comes to ice cream. Prices were super reasonable and the service was quick even with a solid crowd already there by noon on a Saturday. We grabbed our ice cream and found a spot at a picnic bench, just hanging out and enjoying the sunshine. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and downright udderly delicious. This place is a moo-st go. Ive been hearing great reviews about this place so decided to check it out while I was in town. Its been consistently known to be THE BEST place to get ice cream in CT so i definitely wanted to try it.. & not to mention the incredible view! Stopped by here today after seeing endless good reviews, left disappointed with no plans to return. Both orders came out half wrong despite being written down correctly by the worker at the order window and the ice cream itself is nothing special, it's the same sugary taste I can get anywhere. The line was so long it wasn't worth the wait to attempt to get what we actually ordered so $20 of ice cream went into the trash because they couldn't tell peppermint from cookies and cream. For the same price we'll stick with Rich's where our orders are at least correct or Arethusa where the quality is miles better and flavors are actually rich. read more

I've been to a lot of ice cream places in my time. Ferris Acres has the best ice cream I've ever tasted. They have lots of flavors, and every one I've had has been excellent. The flavors are intense and the ice cream consistency is wonderful. If I lived next door to this place, I don't know what might happen to me. I might explode. We were visiting CT for vacation and had received several ice cream place suggestions. We saved Ferris Acres for our last day, and I'm so glad we did. First, it was a beautiful drive there. As we pulled up, I noticed the large parking lot and the stunning property, as well as the green pasture across the street. In this pasture are the cows that provide the milk for the ice cream. It doesn't get any fresher than that. Plus it's so fun to watch the cows! Next, there are 32 flavors to choose from, ranging from typical to creative flavors with creative names (such as Bada Bing, an almond and chocolate with dark chocolate chunks and Bing cherries). Even the simple "sweet cream," which my fiance had was delicious. I couldn't choose just one flavor, so I opted for Cookie Jar and Route 302 Chocolate Moo. Both were absolutely fantastic. There is even a 12 scoop ice cream challenge, which I was seriously tempted to do! If you are in a CT, this is a "must" if you love ice cream. Heck even if you don't, I still think you should go. A review of Ferris Acres Creamery is long overdue given it has been the creamery located (close to) my backyard, my "always there for me" through childhood, college vacations home, and now young adulthood. I have tried several homemade creameries across the state, but none of them compare to Ferris Acres. The ice cream flavors are outrageous, putting their own unique spin on classic flavors. My all time favorite flavor is Cookie Jar, but a close competitor I came across over this past summer, Vanilla PBC squared, is a close second. Friends and family of mine were disappointed to hear that Elvis's Dream was booted to the specials menu... we beg you to bring Vanilla PBC squared and Elvis's Dream to the regular menu list for the 2023 season. Hands down some of the best ice cream I've ever had! Ferris Acres Creamery is consistently rated one of the top ice cream spots in CT, and for good reason. The ice cream tastes so fresh and creamy, it's really hard to beat. I enjoyed the Black Raspberry ice cream in a waffle cone! If you're going on a weekend, or a weeknight, be prepared to wait because the line gets LONG. If you do go on a weeknight, I'd recommend trying to get there before 6:30PM and you may be able to beat the after-dinner rush. Parking may also be an issue, as the gravel lot is not very big, and there's no on-street parking nearby. Keep in mind that there's no indoor seating, they just have a windows where you order and then pick up. They do also have an "Express" window for those who order ahead and are just picking up. There's a few picnic tables and benches to sit at. Across the street is a pasture where you can watch the cows graze. Overall Ferris Acres Creamery serves by far some of the best ice cream in CT, and it's definitely a place you should check out this summer! read more
