It's always a pleasure to visit my favorite ice cream shop in CT, and it hasn't changed in years! The employees are nice and scoop your icecream generously. The black and white cow statue standing outside is always there to greet you as you walk in. Whether you're a kid climbing on top of it or a family smiling for a group photo, this cow always reminds you of childhood wonder. The place is always clean and they have the same flavors I remember for several years. They're always willing to give you a small taste test on a mini spoon before you decide on a flavor. We came here after another place was closed, we had planned to come here while visiting the area anyway. I was shocked the ice cream was so delicious, seriously some of the best ice cream I've ever had. My son who usually with a big cone ends up handing it off to one of us, ate the entire thing. The most overpriced and undersized ice cream in town. The ice cream is mediocre .. go to whale tea or the firehouse.

It's not bad here, but it just seems fake. I got a scoop of regular chocolate and a scoop of dark chocolate gelato and they barely had any difference and were pretty weak on the chocolate in general, which is not how gelato should be at all. There's better ice cream options in the area. read more

Our son loves gelato and ordered the mint gelato on our last visit. I must admit, I don't understand his affinity for mint ice cream/gelato. But this time he asked me to actually taste it and all I can say is that it was unbearable! This place is good. They are always open even during the winter. I'm pretty sure they are open until about 11 so getting a late night ice cream is easy. The store itself is usually very clean and the employees are pretty nice. I don't order crazy ice creams or crazy flavors so I'm not sure how their selection varies but, everything looks delicious. I always get a small vanilla milkshake ($5.00) which i find to be a little expensive but, I get hard ice cream as opposed to soft serve. The ice cream is good but, $5 for plain ice cream without toppings or anything else is a little pricy. The small is a decent size though so at least you don't feel totally ripped off. All and all I enjoy the quality of their ice cream (super duper creamy) Service is usually pretty fast. Unless you order something complicated. read more

I've been to both Sunny Daes in Fairfield. The ice cream is very tasty and there is a wide variety of flavors, but they are both dirty-looking. The Sunny Daes on Black Rock is almost disgusting. The floors, the walls the outside are close to disgusting. I even feel that way about the machines. I was just at the Sunny Daes on the Post Road. I sat inside and looked out at the weeds, the ants, and the garbage on ground in the seating area outside the store. I guess. There is no excuse for that. Whomever owns those franchises should do a better job. I just that I could include pictures. They worth a thousand words. read more

Sunny Daes is tasty and a great deal - $2.65 for a small cup/cone (Gofer's is $3.25 for a small and too sweet). They have tons of flavors for hard ice cream - and I especially love the coffee heath, cappuccino crunch, and chocolate brownie fudge. They also have great gelato - a little more expensive at $3.50 for a small/regular, but delicious for a treat, and it also has fewer calories than the hard ice cream. Sunny Daes has a great feel - bright and pastel colors, cute tables to sit at, and plenty of space to not feel crowded. In comparison, Gofer Ice Cream (next to Fin on the Post Rd.) is cramped, doesn't have as many flavors, is too expensive, too sweet, and too corporate-gimmicky feeling.
