During one visit, he suddenly said in a very strong voice to pull a tooth. I asked what would go in the space and he said a bridge. He usually speaks in a whiny, nasal voice. I panicked and fled his office for over a year. I got a second opinion on the tooth and I just had it x-rayed 3 years later and it's fine. The new dentist stopped taking insurance and I had lost a filling, so I asked if Dr. Wells wanted me back as a patient. He said yes and made me an appt. He said he would do the filling. When I came for the appt. he tricked me and instead of doing the filling, he went straight for the back of my mouth with the needle, gave me too much anesthesia and demolished a newish gold crown and natural tooth to force the bridge on me. We did not have an agreement nor did he give me the estimate I had requested for the potential work. He did not do the filling and left me with temps, leaving me compromised, scared and deeply depressed. They charged my card $3000. I didn't know what to do. I am a female, senior citizen and he's huge. He left me with temps and no filling so I went back to have the work completed. They took $3540 more, when my end would have been $3263 after insurance if I had accepted the work. In the end I had to file a police report and he admitted that they had not paid me over $3000 after five months. They took insurance money too. I knew that Chase is merchant friendly and after winning the fraud case, the merchant hassled them so much they backed down and made him pay me over $3000, but made me accept the work he forced on me. His wife told me when she took my card out of my hand when he had given me too much anesthesia at the second visit that if I did not pay them what they wanted, they wouldn't survive. I was so stunned. They are not professional nor trustworthy.

However, I have been pleasantly surprised as Dr. Ng and his staff have provided me with outstanding service, even during COVID-19. I have been here for routine check-ups, cleanings, and x-rays, and also for fillings and more extensive work. All of it has been of the highest caliber and I am very pleased. I highly recommend Dr. Ng and his practice! I have a few crowns that need to be replaced and will be going back to Dr. Ng to have them done. He uses the best materials for crowns, which is very important - especially for someone like me who has bruxism and grinds my teeth at night. Dr. Ng also made a new nightguard for me that is much more comfortable and stays in my mouth. The dental hygienists are wonderful, friendly, and thorough. Someone who has more experience on tooth fractures and is able to admit if they can not do a precise job without leaving exposed dentin on the back side of my tooth. He was very kind at first, but I believe this was a big money job and he was just eager to cash out rather then make sure that he could perform a more than sufficient job for his patient. After all, this is my front tooth! It is a big deal and I am going to have to live the rest of my life with this "new" tooth. I want someone who understands that the tooth should be as close to perfection as possible, not all jagged and rough and painful.

The experience left me anxious to go to doctors and dentists. I first found Dr. Pritchett because I got to a point where I thought my teeth were in pain and I thought I might have bigger problems from not taking care of them. Dr. Pritchett didn't make me feel judged, he let me know a lot of it was simply allergy season sinus pain. I got my teeth a well needed cleaning and we made a treatment plan to get my teeth in better shape. I do have naturally straight teeth and afterwards people kept asking me if I got them whitened because they looked so white (just clean lol). Because Dr. P made me feel so comfortable and made my teeth feel so good, I started going regularly. Over the years, even my husband and kid have wanted to go to him too. Now he is our family dentist! We are originally from small towns and think it's so great to have someone you trust like that. Recently, I had a molar break while at work. I was so embarrassed and upset. My co-workers said that starts to happen as we get older but I figured it was my fault for slacking off on dental care for so many years. Dr. Pritchett's staff got me in as soon as I could come and ran my insurance to give me an idea of the cost (even though I would have financed getting it fixed asap if I had to). They guessed over the phone which tooth it was just based on my x-rays in my file. In all honesty, I had hesitated to do the work they told me I needed before my tooth broke on its own- my bad. It was a blessing in disguise thought because Dr. P offered to do all my fillings in that area while I was numb for the pre-crown work. I got to get my silver fillings out and my teeth are all white on that side now! I didn't even have pain after the numbing wore off. In fact, I must have been living with some discomfort because my mouth felt better and stronger. I love the look of the white and am coming back to do the other side when my insurance renews. And this crown actually cost less than one I had done in my 20s (but my husband is an RN so it might be because we have good insurance). Lastly, the environment is great, so comfy. Reminds me of the Cliff's Spa, especially with the warm face towel at the end. And feels like a family business too. We recommend being good patients and using the recommended antiseptic mouth wash after having work done on your mouth. Also, buy the WaterPik (you won't have to lie that you floss ever again haha). We had recently found out about digital crowns through an experience my husband had in Eugene, Oregon and struggled to find a doctor in our area who is capable of producing these kinds of crowns. We landed on Dr. Wong in San Luis Obispo. He has all the latest technology & is able to create the crown in the office in under two. So what would normally take 2 to 3 visits using a traditional crown, takes just a few hours with Dr. Wong. No dentist I have ever been to has been able to completely numb my mouth. Dr. Wong numbed it on the first try, which was a huge relief to me. I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort during this procedure. His office staff and assistants are extremely helpful and very friendly. He is a bit pricey. He is out of network so we did not get the full benefits of our dental insurance, but he is definitely worth the price.
