After much research, I decided to get two procedures and I couldn't be happier and more convinced that they deserve more than five stars. From my first visit/consultation, felt like long time family welcoming you back home: Jennifer, Grace, Jessica and the team were all delightful, gracious and professional. Then comes the Plastic Surgeon guru himself, Dr. Sam Speron, and I felt immediately at ease and confident in his review of my needs. He took his time to explain all the details of the pre-and post surgery. Reassuring me and asking if I had any concerns or questions at all times. I was very pleased with the discount available for any combined procedures. Fully prepared with my meds, my surgery was under 1.5 hours. I didn't mind being awake because the team was super efficient and Dr. Speron threw in some good humor to put me at ease. Nice bonus was the office set me up with an Uber to/from my home. I gave more thought to this and want to add a few details since my original review. He does NOT offer massages, and there isn't any limo service. The day before surgery, he gave me some scribbled pre-op instructions on a prescription pad. I looked at all of the paperwork post-op and there were pre-op instructions that he never told me! I hadn't done any of what was stated, but was told it's not important. Look at my scars, maybe if I had known, it wouldn't look so terrible. I should have walked out the door, but I was zonked on pre-op Valium which impaired my decision making. I later asked for my OR report and it literally says nothing, just the name of the procedure. No information on how he made an incision, removal of skin and how he closed it. During the surgery he overlapped 2 incisions, creating a 1cm triangle that he simply sutured back in place. Of course the tissue DIED and I was forced to do dressing changes for months! He didn't even know how to treat it. I'm an RN and just happened to have access to the medication needed to dissolve the black dead skin. RUN, do not go to this man. I wish I would have read the 3 freaking pages of 1 star reviews before I went to him. I think this ended up costing me close to $17,000. I saved for years and he mutilated me. He also gives you a discount if you pay in CASH. All of the red flags were there, so I feel like an idiot. There's a big pocket of fat under my chin as you can see in the original post picture, it's all lopsided. I went back to have that repaired and he still couldn't get it right. I've mentioned Dr. Speron in my RealSelf posts several times and was shocked to see any negative reviews at all here on yelp! I guess the Groupon crowd kind of brings the whole thing down a level? My review is not about med spa or laser treatments. I have had nothing but a fantastic experience with him as a surgeon and with his staff. I came to him following an awful experience with another plastic surgeon in Chicago which left me feeling deformed and botched and totally abandoned as a patient. My first surgery (Dec 2020 @ JW) was so horrific that I was basically in tears the two or three times I met with Dr. Speron prior to making the decision to have a revision surgery performed. I'm guessing he was probably concerned that I might be a difficult patient given my distress and anxiety, but the issues were pretty obvious and the past several months had been brutal both physically and emotionally. From the pre-surgical visits, coordination with the staff, day of surgery and immediate aftercare, this was a night and day different experience. My recovery was practically painless versus months of pain and discomfort following my initial surgery. Incisions look fantastic whereas my initial surgery was a complete disaster with splitting, bleeding, pain and all kinds of healing issues that left me with awful scars. His bedside manner is friendly, caring, patient and informative, and the staff always welcomes questions and requests for an office visit, if/when needed. I had my short scar procedure the end of November. I had no improvement whatsoever. There were so many red flags, I should have went with my gut. there was no limousine no massage as advertised and I did not need his 3 free laser treatments. They actually ask you how much you are willing to pay, I guess the good dr. will take anything he can con a person out of. also, in the surgery room with me there was a nurse, so I thought. I asked her "You must be a registered nurse and she replied no I am not." I wanted to run, I saved for 3 years to have this procedure. I wanted it done right and with the proper medical staffing. If you are thinking about having this procedure don't waste your money having it done by this doctor. find a professional who knows what they're doing. all those good reviews have to be his friends and relatives and paid people there is no other explanation. regarding the doctor's reply No one tried to contact me. and I emailed asking for a March appointment with no answer back. Also why is the before and the after picture taken 1 minute later after surgery when you sit up off the surgery table plastic surgeons give it a month or 2 so the skin can settle in than take pictures. of course, there will be a great improvement 1 minute after the procedure is done your face is so swollen, the real proof is 1 or 2 months later. I did not pay that money for 1 week of improvement. I would love a answer to the above question. It saddens me I wasted my hard-earned money!!!!!!!!!! I wish a no star rating was available. You never addressed why you do not have a registered nurse. I had such a pleasant visit! at first i was considering an excision on my small mole in between my eyes but Dr.Speron recommended me to do a shave due to my age. he explained to me that shaving would take off about 90% of the mole and whatever was left over i can always come back to laser it. i got it done last wednesday and the scab completely came off today and to my suprise nothing was left over. everything is completely off. im so glad i listened to him i saved myself a couple hundred bucks! im still waiting for my skin to heal but i will most definitely update my review and post a picture when my skin is all healed. thank you so much dr speron! read more

I really enjoy going to the medical spa that is run by Dr. S. Everyone is very nice and professional and accommodating. I've been there about six times and could easily go sixty! After Dr Spearon responded to this review I was asked to leave Dr Spearons practice and discontinue laser hair removal treatments. That is how they chose to handle my dissatisfaction. Update!! From 5 stars to 1 I was referred to this office through a unique promotion and entered an agreement for a laser package. I was told that it would be head to toe treatments over the course of a year with the only limit being 4-6 weeks rest between body parts and that I would be able to have all of the areas covered within one year with three rotating appointments per month. The contract was mostly unrelated to my package referencing an online program that had no relevance and I was told that the contract was mostly to setup autodraft payments since I was on a monthly payment program and committing to 12 months. I started in May and loved the treatments, my Esthetician & the office staff. In December Dr. Spearon limited my treatments (and those of the 5 people I referred) to one per 3 weeks making it impossible to finish the head to toe treatment plan I purchased. Ironically this is around the same time that their office began swarming with Groupon package owners and had double and tripple booked the Esthetician who works with me. Many of my referrals have tried to get out of their contract. I have discussed my displeasure with office staff but have been clearly told that Dr Spearon has decided to follow what the contract says. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE. I will finish my treatments at no more than one per 3 weeks but this is no longer a place I would refer people to. PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Dr Spearon I'm in your office monthly if you'd like to discuss. My former 5 star rating below: I have received services from Jill, a very talented Esthetician, and she is phenomenal. I have referred many people to this office for laser hair removal treatments & have heard complimentary reviews by the five people I have referred. Okay, it's been 5 months since I wrote my review, and I have to write an update, I just have to. Again, keep in mind that I have another review for another facility whose 6 sessions eradicated 99.99% of my chin hairs. So believe me when I say... what the heck!! Not only did the 8 laser treatments done here NOT reduce my 'stache hair (which was fine and sparse to begin with, nothing like the porcupine quills on my chin), but seems to actually have INCREASED the fuzz on my upper lip. I am not kidding you. Now, maybe the good doctor will chime in here and say it's medically impossible or blame it on something like hormones or time between visits. Again, compared to the extreme satisfaction I have with the other facility... why aren't my chin quills growing back? Hmmm? The chin is also considered a small area, but when I had it done at the other place (the one with the 5 star review), each session was about 20 minutes each as my face was cleansed before, and soothed after with a nice lotion and ice pack. His response to my first review is just garbage. Again, I have another experience to compare this one to. This wasn't my first rodeo, Doc. Plus after my initial review, Doc Speron contacted me and asked me to remove my review if he refunded me the cost of the Groupon. I declined. In my opinion, if you were truly concerned about my experience, Sam Shady - offering to make it right would have gone a lot further than offering to refund my money and then only "if" I removed my review. I was looking for scar removal treatments and after checking on several places near me, I found Dr. Speron listed as "Park Ridge Medical Spa". Their main site listed a lot of procedures, among them scar removal. They also showed that medical massages were half off on Fridays and Saturdays- because I have herniated discs and arthritis in my neck I thought that would be a great way to check the place out and get some relief at the same time. So, I called. The receptionist was less than helpful. When she answered the phone as a Dr's office, I asked if I was calling the wrong number. She replied, "Oh no, we're Park Ridge Medical Spa too." Alright... I get it. Places do that. I told her I was looking for both scar removal consultation and to check the pricing on the massage deal. She sounded utterly confused. "Um, what are you calling about?" I repeated myself and was put on hold. When she can back she told me her office manager was out and that they'd have to call me back. She had zero information on appointments times, pricing and availability of services other than the Three days later and no call back. I tried their office again and didn't get an answer, so I sent an email through their website. Three days later and no reply- I gave them one last call and I got someone to answer. After speaking with the office manager I was asked where I saw the deal (on their website) and was told that they no longer give massages and that they have a new site. (Oooook.) I asked about the scar removal treatments and she said that she couldn't tell me anything over the phone but I could pay $100 to talk to the Dr. and that they took insurance. When I said I wasn't interested she said that if they weren't bad scars I could speak with an esthetician for free. OK- I made an appointment. When I got a call confirming my appt the day before, I asked about parking. It's a good thing she mentioned the address because not only is it wrong on their old site, it's wrong on their NEW site as well. Upon arrival I was asked to fill out paperwork, but they're a paperless office so I had to use a laptop. The laptop didn't work, then the woman at the desk turned off the one that was working accidentally so it took a good 10 minutes just to get the laptop. The "paperwork"work took me about 20 minutes and asked more questions than a regular Dr would. I mean- I get it, this place does surgeries but damn, I was just there to get a free quote from an esthetician? Once the paperwork was finally filled out I didn't have to wait long at all to speak with someone. This consultation involved the esthetician having to call the Dr who told her they can't help me. They had no suggestions for anywhere else to try (I sort of get it- competition) and I felt it was a total waste of my time. When I add up the time I spent getting this setup and all the paperwork I had to fill out, I can't help but feel extremely irritated and disappointed. Not sure how they are with other procedures, but I wouldn't want an office that is run this inefficiently doing any major work on my body. read more

BEWARE! Do not make an appointment here if you expect it to be honored. Groupon: Love it or hate it. I'm starting to think that businesses who know in advance that you have purchased a Groupon at times can provide inferior service. This has been my experience in the past (especially with massages). At any rate, my fiancee had made a 'Groupon' appointment for a couples' facial. This establishment took our appointment down for a later date (months later) because they were all booked up at that time. Fine. Now it's the day before and they are telling us that they won't be able to perform the facials simultaneously because they...again....are 'all booked up'. So instead of an hour long trip to the spa to do facials together (which was the whole point), they want us to go in back to back and wait while the other is getting their facial. Thanks for the 'less than 24 hour notice on something we re-scheduled months ago" notice. I understand places get busy and these things happen. However, we were rescheduled months ago so that we could do it TOGETHER. I guess it sounds silly writing about a facial (being a straight male), but it's the principal here. Just because your business is busy and doing well, doesn't mean that you can take liberties with your customers' time. Ok...as we speak, we called Groupon and explained the circumstances and they will be refunding us. Thanks, Groupon. I guess you're ok in my book, now. read more

The reason why i am writing this review is to urge the staff to get proper inservicing on the laser prior to using it on actual patients. I recently had laser photo facial on my face at Dr. speron's office. Usually a photo facial is a series of 5 treatments. Th first two treatments seemed to have worked. I went on my honeymoon and went for my next photo facial a month later. The staff was well aware that I went on my honeymoon and my skin pigmentation was darker......they still used the same setting on the laser they used PRIOR to my honeymoon. The result: huge second degree burns on my forehead!! I came back the next day to show the surgeon and his associates what they had done to my face. They gave me a full refund but refused to inquire about getting proper training with their lasers. My suggestion to anyone that goes to Dr. speron's office is to wait.....wait until the staff is knowledgable enough to get proper training and continual in-servicing on their lasers prior to burning their patients/victims. I had a really great relationship with the nurses....until they burned my face. I will never go back to Dr. speron's office again. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this practice. I've talked to a lot of medical offices in general and plastic surgeons, from start to finish this group has been extremely friendly. They recently had a change in management and that could be what made the difference. First time I contacted them the receptionists were very friendly and helped put me in touch with the right people. I was able to quickly get an appointment scheduled and then felt at ease the entire time I was there. Dr. Speron does great work, his specialty was facial plastic surgery. I had this nasty bump on my nose that made me feel extremely self conscience but thanks to Dr. Speron and his team I don't feel like I have to hide my face anymore. I've even changed all my profile pics to show off how great I look now. After the success of the first procedure I came back to get rid of my love handles. I've always been nervous about taking my shirt off in public because I felt like my sides stuck out for everyone to see. Since the first procedure went so well I thought I'd give it a try. Dr speron is very nice and respectful however the other staff was a bit unorganized. the first day I came in the front desk girl seemed like she was not sure what she was doing. I was quoted $100 less than I was charged. Upon leaving I was given no aftercare paperwork or any written instructions which would have been helpful after a $1700 mole removal. Then front desk staff forgot to give me my prescription which wasn't a big deal but it was freezing and I just had stitches in my face so had to walk back in to get it. The desk girl also scheduled me for a Sunday which I thought was weird that they were open but she chose the date not me. Of course they called to reschedule me for a Saturday. On that Saturday morning they called again saying it was too early to get my stitches out... I said I'd rather just get them out and they said they'd look and see if everything was healed enough. One of my internal stitches was poking through my skin and they said they just wanted to leave it alone.. I just expected more for such a pricy mole removal. Don't feel like a cared for patient. I've visited this office for a series of laser procedures to treat spider veins. I couldn't be more pleased with the result I've had. It is nothing short of amazing. I'm thrilled! I am always 10 minutes early for my appointments and normally they are very good and you get in on time. I have been left to wait for about 10 minutes past my time a few times, no biggie. I was late for my last appointment by 13 mintues, which still left 18 mintues for my appointment which usually lasts only 10 or so minutes any way. The left me in the waiting room and took me in the room with only 10 minutes left and told me I can only do one are with the laser since I was late. I walked out with 5 minutes still on my time and spent another 10 mintues trying to reschedule my appointment. No one else was there for an apt. So why they didn't accomadate me, i don't know. But I can't get another appt since they are booked up until May. I called again today and was told the same thing. Thankfully I have the rest of my appt made already and will have to forfeit this one. I will be glad when it is over. I wanted to do another area for laser and do my botox treatments here, But I will stay with my previous doctor for the botox. Appt with her are easter to come by. read more

Groupon going bad? I procrastinated on purpose to write this review because I wanted to take my time and really try to review without anger and disappointment. However, now that I finally take a moment to search and find this months later, I find that this place has everything I wanted to say. I will repeat, rinse, repeat everything already stated. WORST, WORST, AWFUL, results I could have expected. It was in and out within five to ten minutes. Hair is still there. except for patches where it did have effect or perhaps the technician knew what she was doing for that session, as each session was done by a different and random office/reception/nurse girl. It was a bit confusing. seeing a different person each time. The service girls were not the worst but they were not good either, they reminded me of low level minimum wage workers at mcdonald's. I don't mean to offend them because it looked and felt like they tried but failed to provide a personalised feel to the whole service. The first session was one of the most painful things I have ever felt. I don't know what happened and they failed to explain it. There was a sharp and fast stabbing pain that lingered like a snapping of a rubber band. Very, very hurtful, the session ended abruptly and she wrote me a prescription for a 250 dollar numbing skin cream. I was shocked but willing to commit to my esteem improvement. so with the cream price, groupon price, time and travel, this was becoming a real investment in myself. God was I upset when the treatments ended and my skin looked like I had patches of hair just missing and tuffs of hair growing in around the area accentuating it. I really and truly hope that this place stops doing hair removal altogether or gets their Shtf together because the stuff they are doing now is just stealing time, money, and hopes from people looking for a good deal. read more

I came to know about Park Ridge medical spa through a deal on groupon, and a really good one for laser hair removal. The girls at the front desk (not sure if they're associates, assistants or managers) were very helpful in setting up a custom deal for me, which combined various body parts, whereas buying directly from groupon would've limited the number of areas. So I finalized the deal and setup first few appointments. So far I've had appointments with two technicians/associates Eva and Grace and both are wonderful to work with, easy to talk to and helpful in scheduling the future appointments based on the results I've been getting. I would definitely recommend this place, their office and treatment rooms are clean and sanitary which is of utmost importance to me in any medical spa, and you'll be surprised how often thats not the case. The machines do seem to be new(er) but since I dont know much about the field, I cant comment on whether they're the latest ones out there, I am sure there're new ones coming out every single day. All in all, great place, and the only reason for me having to push myself really hard to go there, is because it pains like a b*#ch while getting the tratment done, but that has more to do with my hair type than anything on their part, but Eva and Grace have been doing a good job at keeping me busy talking so it takes my mind off of the pain they're inflicting on me ;-) YS read more

This review is for the Park Ridge Medical Spa owned and supervised by Dr. Speron. It is not for Dr. Speron as I havent had any interaction with him nor seen his shadow. I had the chance to be in this facility thru Groupon when they had a promo package for Skin tightening and Skin Rejuvenation for $139. I know that laser procedure normaly takes about 15-20 minutes esp for facial area, the promo clearly stated you are getting 2 procedures that will take about 60 minutes. Like the previous reviewer posted, it took more than an hour for the waiting time as they have less staff that day and signing consent and history thru their laptop/notebook than my facial procedure which took less than 20 minutes. When asked if that was the 2 procedures, the young technician said, yes that was all it. Same laser machine. The Groupon promo was supposed to be a $1000 value and Im glad I didnt pay that amount or I would cry as hell. I contacted Groupon and I was refunded $10??? . I am still very disappointed to this day. The building in the picture you see here is totally the opposite of what's inside. The clinic is just one of the units of this building and is very old and outdated entrance before you get inside the door. The inside of the clunic however looks new and there are so many private rooms inside. For a clinic, I was surprised that it wasnt wheelchair accessible. I have tried when I have time off work and they keep saying she's either not there or is booked. I try to make the appointments well in advance but to no avail. I bought a groupon for laser hair removal here at the end of last year. Today was supposed to be my last appt in a series of 6 and I just received a voice mail that their laser has broke and they need to reschedule my appt. Kinda last minute, but that's fine, those things happen, but the way the situation was handled was extremely unprofessional. I received no apology whatsoever, and I know it is not actually their fault that they had problems with the machine, but the courteous thing to do is to apologize for inconvenience. The voice mail I received rambled on with no apology; the girl really just sounded annoyed that she was inconvenienced with making the call. My day has now been inconvenienced as well and the professional way to handle the situation would be to have a little empathy & be nice about it. Especially now that my appt has been rescheduled 3 weeks later. I do like the technician who's been doing my treatments. She's very nice. Not sure how effective the treatments have been for me, growth seems to be somewhat slower, but maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that. Overall, I've enjoyed my visits to the office. Despite their confirmation calls I always have to call back in to confirm my appt time because every time they have left me a message they've said the wrong time. read more

This is for Park Ridge medical Spa. Not very impressed with them at all. Had to wait a long time (about 20 minutes after my message was scheduled). I can't speak for how GREAT the massage was because it was my first but I wanted a deep tissue massage. During the massage I kept thinking that something didn't feel right, when I told my girlfriend about the massage she said it was likely I got a Swedish massage. Maybe that's just my ignorance, and I should have spoken up during the massage. Anyway, I won't be back. Very unorganized place. read more

I too used a groupon to recieve a deep pore cleansing facial. When I went to book it, was told they couldn't see me for quite a while, which was after the groupon expired. I was told they would still honor the groupon so we booked a date after the expiration. Had a very nice facial and was pleased with the individual performing the service. The front desk personnel are not as helpful and in fact, a bit rude. Well two months later I receive a bill for the facial! I called once and left a detailed message that a groupon was used and I would appreciate a call back. Never heard from anyone and recieved another bill this month! Finally got through to someone in billing who said she needed to check with the manager. Told her I wanted to speak with the office manager. Was put on hold for 10 minutes and was told the manager was unavailable but there was a glitch in the system and I should never have been billed. My girlfriend has been struggling to find a new Med Spa / aesthetician that she felt comfortable with since moving to the area. After seeing different offers for laser hair removal, facials and skin treatments in the area I saw Dr. Speron pop up. I have driven by his office numerous times and have actually had a few friends go in for a few different procedures (His work is impressive!) We both felt comfortable choosing him and he received glowing recommendations from our friends. We met with Dr. Speron for a consultation and immediately knew we had made the right choice. Most plastic surgeons and Med Spas give off this super trendy "we're doing YOU a favor" kind of feel all the way from the decor to the personality of the staff. Our visit with Dr. Speron was the complete opposite. Super genuine and caring, gave us a tour of the office and treated both of us as if we had been a patient for years. My girlfriend is thrilled with the results from her Laser treatments and will continue to go back. 5 stars for Dr. Speron & his staff. read more

Zero stars. When I made the appointment I was told it would be a free consultation. The consultation was to lighten or remove a dark spot. During the appointment I was given information on laser therapy but did not have anything done. The office charged my insurance $600! When I called the office the women said the "said the girl who used to work there did the paperwork and because I saw the dr I have to pay. 1st off, I was told the appt was free, 2nd in what world is a 5 minute consult $600. Since my last review I had another procedure at this medical spa. This time I wanted to try a microderm. Once again, it was wonderful!! Now that I am confident about this facility I am beginning to recommend this spa to my friends. As I see many of you have already have written, this doctor has his receptionists cancel appointments the last minute. I was in my driveway when they cancelled mine and it was at 6:45 on Saturday evening. I told them I was going in anyway. They gave me the wrong laser treatment and told me that that is what I had purchased on Gleeday even though I had shown them the ad. They treated me like I was some kind of idiot or something and had the nerve to blame it on Gleeday calling a misprint. Finally, my face STILL looks WORSE after the procedure which they called a photofacial. My family and friends have commented on how unfortunately bad I look. I will have to go to a professional to have some type of work done to fix it. Hopefully, it wont cost me too much money. I am very disappointed that I ever got a coupon from this doctor. Too bad a "NO STAR" isn't available. I purchased a Groupon for three 50-minute deep-tissue massages at Park Ridge Medical Spa in June. Called to schedule an appointment and was told someone would call me back. No one ever did. Three days later, I called back. Once I mentioned Groupon, I was told they had nothing available. As I continued pressing about availabilities, I was told August 28th - A 2 MONTH WAIT time. After waiting all this time, on the day of the appointment, I was called and asked to reschedule for September 10th. If I weren't a professional and a lady, I would've spat out a few choice words. Instead I informed the person on the phone that there would me no rescheduling and I would be contacting Groupon for a refund It took constant messaging back and forth with Groupon, but I was finally issued Groupon credit. A word to the wise for this company: Professionalism and customer service are a must particularly within "Medicine". In addition, if Groupon customers are not preferred, remove the establishment from being a Groupon option! read more

I was referred to Dr. Sam Speron by a coworker who had surgery about 2 years ago, and was still thrilled with the results. I tend to be extremely anxious when visiting doctors and this occasion was no exception. In fact, I was more apprehensive than usual. I finally called with my list of questions and made an appointment. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming that by the time I finished my consent forms, my nails were no longer digging half moons into my palms:) My consult with Dr. Speron was a life altering experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable and genuine. I felt comfortable and all my questions were answered and then some. I didn't feel pressured or led in any way. I booked and completed the treatment I needed. My scars were minimal and are still fading. I'm so pleased with the results. After my consult with Dr. Speron, I made my mom book an appointment because during my session with him, I mentioned my concerns about some of her age spots. Turns out, some of those spots were precancerous. They were treated and she continues to do her followups. I can't thank Dr. Speron enough. I tell everyone about him.
